Second First Date -Torie-

Clad in the nicest clothes he could find (which really wasn’t all that fancy), Kenric quietly waited on a street corner for his “date” to arrive. The title of his date just didn’t suffice, Amy was so much more to him. He stared down at himself, looking at his shined black dress shoes, his black trousers, and his navy blue button up shirt. Thankfully it was warm enough to not have to wear the black jacket he had strewn over his right arm.
About 4 years ago, Kenric and Amy had had their first date, so naturally, all of the jitters should have been gone, but somehow, butterflies still fluttered around in his stomach, making his squirm nervously as he leaned against a light pole, staring over peoples heads trying to spot her.

Taking much the same precautions as on her other first date, Amy had searched her closet for what to wear. She had found a few outfits that brought back the old Amy, and she was tempted to wear them. A cute little sundress, a small black dress, a few other little dresses from a few years ago. But Kenric already knew the old Amy; it was time to show him the new and improved Amorina Riddell.
With her hair curled, her school ring on her finger, her gold earrings in, Amy spun in her mirror and smiled at herself. Oh yeah. This was definitely one part of Amy that Kenric had never seen. She had picked a black tube dress with a fold overdrop waist, complete with a small circle rhinestone brooch, and a tie back sash. It was much more "glamorous" than the dress she had picked for her other date, but she felt she had to impress Kenric a little more.
Once again, she strutted down the street with a large smile on her face. When she saw him, she felt those butterflies burst back to life, flying around her whole body. It took all she had not to run to him and jump into hugging him; she held back, though, until she finally was close enough to hug him. "Hey again,"she said, giving his cheek a small kiss. Amy gave a small spin in front of him and smiled. "How do I look?" Like she had to ask.

"Too beautiful for words," he admitted, shamelessly looking her up and down before turning his gaze back to her face. It was difficult fighting back his natural instinct to lean in and kiss her. It had been okay earlier, but he felt as though the rules might have changed after her small internal conflict. That was okay, though…for now. Clearing his throat, Kenric offered his arm to Amy, looking down at her and smiling broadly. "Shall we be on our way?" he implored, gesturing for her to lead the way, since he hardly knew where they were to begin with.

Amy smirked as he looked her up and down and gave him a small bump with her hip. "Try not to drool, Kenny,"she teased, taking his arm. He cleaned up better than she had remembered; maybe there was a new Kenric too. It hadn't been very long since they had been on their first date. Four years wasn't exactly a long time, especially since one of them was a vampire.
Taking him down a street, she looked around and smiled. "So, what have you been up to these past few years?"she asked. "How's the whole vampire thing going?" They really did need to catch up on old times. She worried about him a lot still, often wondering if the blood had ever gotten him in trouble or worse...
Considering they had just left the school, it had to only be about five or five thirty; the sun was still blazing down on them and she wished she had brought an umbrella for him. Amy knew they had to look odd; a tall, rather skinny pale man with a tall, somewhat skinny woman all dressed up, one more pale than the other.

"Oh, you know, just…roaming about, traveling I guess is what you could call it," he explained, gesturing with his free hand. "I went back home for a little while, my old house is still there, with a new family, of course," he shrugged, "It’s been pretty boring, though." Looking around, he thought about her second question carefully. He wasn’t sure whether or not to tell her the truth, that he’d reverted to his old ways and took human prey now…but why risk ruining the nice moment they were having now? "As good as it could be," he shrugged. "I was a little reckless for a while, and got in a bit of trouble," he confessed, looking over at all the people that were passing him. "But I’m doing better now, much better." A genuine smile found its way to his lips and he leaned down, kissing the top of Amorina’s head. "And what about you? How was school and everything else?"

She gave him a disapproving look when she heard he had gotten in trouble, and she gave a small "Tsk." How hard was it to stay out of trouble, honestly? Amorina felt like he had left something out, but she smiled when he kissed her head. It felt like old times again; they had barely been apart when they were dating. A part of her wanted them to never be apart again; the other part knew there was one big issue keeping them apart.
"Boring," was her simple answer. "I could have easily been something other than a teacher, but I'm really only doing this until I have enough money to go to med school or something. My parents tried setting me up on blind dates but," she shrugged. "I always found a way out of it." It wasn't far now; around a corner and down the street a bit and there it would be. "Have you been traveling alone?"

"Pretty much, yes," he said, "It was nice, quiet. I thought a lot about life, what I was doing, and you," turning towards her, he looked straight into her eyes, smiling warmly. This was relatively true, most of the time he was alone, except of course, when people were chasing him for having killed their friends or loved ones. "Your parents seem very…involved in your life," he said, for lack of a better, more appropriate term for them. "So you want to work in the medical field, that’s nice. What do you teach right now?" he asked casually, wondering how much farthen they would have to walk in the sun.

"You have a long life to think about, don't you?" It was the only part of "them" that she wished she could change. He had only changed so much in the weight-area; she felt like she had gotten older only to find that he looked practically the same. She wondered if he would age anymore.
"What about me? I can't be that amazing, Kenric. I mean, I know I'm pretty amazing but that was a long time ago." Amy let her smirk turning into a teasing smile. She really hadn't thought he would think about her so much. They had been serious, of course, but it had been a teenage thing. They were older now.
Amy smiled as she saw the restaurant. They weren't far now, only a few more steps. "They always have been." Her voice held almost a twinge of anger in it, thinking of all her parents had held her back from. His question made her laugh. "I teach Art. Sort of." She hadn't had an actual class yet; as long as she was getting paid, she didn't care.
Reaching the doors, she said, "We're here," and reached up to kiss his cheek. "It really is nice to be here with you, Kenric."

"It doesn’t have to be long," he told her, finding it easy to speak so casually about death. "I may have the ability to live forever, but it doesn’t mean I will. You can only do so much in one life before you get tired of it." After just twenty-one short years, Kenric had done most of what he had wanted to do, he wondered how much longer he’d be willing to live a life like his.
"Don’t sell yourself short," he chuckled, "You know what they say ‘Absence makes the heart fonder.’" It was true, not having Amy by his side as often as she once had been made him only love her more, even if it pained him to have such feelings for a girl he never thought he’d see ever again.
"Your parents, they sound like a bit of a pain…if you don’t mine my saying, " he told her. "Art, I could have guessed," he grinned, looking up at the building they would be eating at. Slinking his arm out of hers, he reached out and opened the door, bowing, he said, "Ladies first," as he gestured inside.

"Well what if you find a nice vampire-lady to spend your life with? I don't think you could get that tired of it. Traveling around the world every year, seeing new things, experiencing new things. Twenty years ago, you would never believe half the things we have now. I think you take life for granted, Kenric. You're going to tell me you've experienced all you've wanted to already?" Amy looked at him with an interrogatingly determined face; she was not going to let him win this one.
She gave him a small curtsy and nodded to what he said. "They are a large pain in a very sensitive area, if you catch my drift,"she replied, letting her smirk return. Amy listened as she heard a soft piano playing and stepped into the shabby-looking place. As soon as she stepped inside, she let her smile return at its inner beauty. She led them to their table, and smiled at him. "What do you think?"

From the tone of her voice, Kenric realized that if he said he had experienced everything he wanted, he’d have to prepare for a really strong fight from her. In order to avoid it, he simply shook his head and said, "Maybe not."
"It’s nice," he said, looking all around him. Walking up behind Amorina, he pulled out her chair, waiting for her to sit in it before he sauntered over to his own. Settling into his seat, he crossed his arms on the table, continuing their casual conversation.
…1 hour later.
"Ready to leave?" Kenric asked, pushing back his chair and standing up, streatching his arms behind him.

Amorina smiled at him and nodded, brushing her hair over her shoulders. "Sure." The dinner had been amazing, again, and the company had been even better. She really had missed him a lot; she had never found anyone who had made her feel as normal, beautiful, perfect as he had. She wasn't sure if she ever really would...
Standing up, she brushed off her dress and smiled at him over her shoulder. "Wanna head back to my place and reminisce?" She had left a very nice tip on the table, more than most people would give. Why have rich parents if you weren't going to milk them for all they were willing to give you? Amy knew one thing, though; she could not wait to get out of these heels and dress. After eating, she felt like she could barely fit in it anymore. A pair of nice sweats and a baggy shirt...Not tonight. She still had a bit of the "new" Amy to show him.

"Of course," pulling his arms through his jacket, he placed his arm over Amy’s shoulder, bringing her closer to him. The sun had gone down a bit, and it made it much easier for him to enjoy their time they shared out in the open.
Leaning down, he kissed her exposed shoulder, running his nose up her shoulder and to the side of her neck, kissing it softly. Smiling, he straightened up again, feeling euphoric to finally be reuinted with his one and only true love.

She smiled, taking comfort of his arm around her. It had been so long since somebody had treated her this well, this lovingly. She wouldn't rush them to her house, not with the sun impending doom upon Kenric. It was nice out, not too cold but not too hot.
She felt her stomach suck in when he kissed her shoulder, then her neck. Ughh, not her spot. Those were the bad spots; well, good spots, depending on how you looked at it. Amy motioned towards an alleyway, taking a shortcut. "Follow me," she said, making her way through the alleyway, letting him trail behind a little, her hand in his. She may have shaken her tush a little more than normal, but the girl was longing.
It didn't take long to get to her apartment building; it was the best she could do that was close to work. Unlocking the door, she flicked on the switch and shrugged. "Well, this is it." A small vase of flowers on her nightstand stood next to a picture of Amy in black and white, smiling with her arms wrapped around what should have been a person. Instead, a small, red K was in the place of the person that should have been. "Could you do me a favor,"she asked, lifting her hair up and exposing the back of her dress. "Untie and un-zip me? I can't reach." Oldest trick in the book.

Trailing behind her, Kenric couldn’t help but stare at Amy’s body as she walked ahead of him. But she couldn’t see, there was no harm in occasionally glancing down at her, not at all. The alleyway was a welcome shelter from the son, even if it wasn’t blazing hot, it wasn’t the most comforatable feeling to stand out in it for too long.
Stepping into her apartment, Kenric felt perfectly at ease. Just two friends hanging out at ones apartment, catching up and spending time together. He looked around, smiling at the small picture of him and her on her nightstand. Hearing her voice, he looked over at her, nodding his head. He watched her lift her hair and expose her back to him. Swallowing hard, Kenric walked over to her. "S-Sure," he said. Trying hard to keep his fingers from trembling, he untied the sash and pulled down the zipper, stepping back as soon as it was done. "There you go, " he said, turning his head to look in any other direction, trying to hide his face. If he had any blood in him, it would have all been in his cheeks right now.
