It was an odd scene; the black-haired teenage holding the blonde woman as she cried, comforting her, rubbing her back, muttering that everything was going to be okay. The blonde hadn't even bothered to look spectacular, in a simple grey hoodie and a pair of jeans, while the other wore much the same. Usually, the scene was flipped. The blonde held the black-haired girl as she cried her heart out about hurting somebody or losing control of her power. Never about a relationship gone wrong, as was now the case.
"I-I don't know wha-what happened,"came the sputtered wimper. "He just... He lost con-control and would not tr-try to gain it b-back. He did-didn't even care!" She clutched to her younger cousin, burying her head on Clara's shoulder. It was everything she had dreaded would happen, everything she wanted to prevent. He had let her down completely.
Clara looked down at her cousin, feeling an unusually large pang of sympathy and sighed. It was the first time she had ever seen Amorina so upset, so worried, so... Heartbroken. "Just don't worry about him, Amorina,"she muttered, hugging her again. "You'll find somebody better, somebody who will care about you. You don't need him." Her comforts only fell on deaf ears.
"B-but..." she sniffled "...I loved him..." The pain of her own words made her cry harder, wimpering in the hopelessness she now faced. There was no chance of them surviving this. He had almost killed her, had it not been for her punching him and then using all her energy to scare him off. Her hand was bruised and possibly broken where she had hit his abnormally hard skull, the other infected and inflamed.
Clara groaned and shook her cousin. "Get this through your head! It won't work out. He's dead and he isn't willing to compromise to be with you. Find somebody who will." She wantred Amorina to be happy, to find somebody who would love her forever, who would treat her and, most importantly, who would keep her safe no matter what. Clara knew what Kenric had done and had a few choice words for him. She didn't want to have to worry about Amy, but was glad the girl had some self-defense lessons. At least they had helped her now.
Amy sighed and nodded, knowing Clara only wanted to help her. It just wasn't enough. She wanted everything to go back to the way it had been. The bastard hadn't even warned her that he was back on human blood. Amorina would have been a hell of a lot more careful if she had known that small fact. She sniffled as Clara patted her head. "I have to go. I have a class to go to."
Clara left her cousin at the rooftop with one last hug, her cousin's camera beside her. Amorina sighed, letting her head rest on her knees. Everything in her life just seemed to be going so wrong. Nothing was going right at all. Feeling the awful state of depression weigh over her more, she buried her face away from everything and cried her heart out. Cried for all the what ifs, all the possibilities now ruined, but mostly because of the realization that dawned on her. Her parents had been right about him. He could not be trusted. Amorina gripped her arms as she felt her body heeve with the want of fresh air. Lifting her head up, she wiped away the tears, feeling them returning.
He had broken her trust. She would never feel safe around him. That was the main reason she had chosen the rooftop to run to. The sun was high in the air, about noon time, letting Amorina feel safe from what lay in the shadows of the night...

Was it possible, Kenric wondered, to feel deader than he already was? Perhaps it went against the laws of science and nature, but that’s exactly how he felt. His heart didn’t beat, hell, it didn’t even serve a purpose in his existence, but it felt as thought it was shattered in two and then ripped into tiny little shreds.
In the course of less than 24 hours, he’d ruined any chance he ever thought he could have with any human being in this godforsaken earth. Since he bolted out of her apartment building, Kenric had kept to his own room, secluded from anyone and everything. His windows, which were covered with multiple layers of cloth, shined one single strip of light into his otherwise dark room.
It seemed like he’d had enough time to mope around and feel shitty, so, with quite some difficulty, Kenric pulled himself out of bed. He still hadn’t eaten, and his eyes were far more red than he’d ever seen them. His little shack of a room was located in a much more…dangerous part of town, which made getting food that much easier. People could easily just blame it on gang activity or some drunk bastard murdering an innocent person. Preparing to leave, Kenric walked over to his closet, throwing different pieces of clothing on the bed. First of all, a pair of jeans, along with a pair of black dress shoes; next came a long sleeved black shirt covered by a large trench coat that reached down to his calves. Finally, he wrapped a dark grey scarf around his neck, nose and mouth, and topped everything off with a black hat and black leather gloves.
Exiting his small little apartment, Kenric walked briskly down an alleyway, lifting up his collar to better hide his masked face. The choice in prey here was very diverse, but considering how thirsty Kenric was at the moment, he wouldn’t be picky. With a blank look in his eye, he scanned the crowd.
There. Right over there, standing on the edge of a street corner, standing on her tip toes trying to see above all of the other head bobbing around her, that was his prey. Walking over to her as quickly as he could, Kenric lowered his scarve so as to speak clearly and offered her a warm smile. The girl was in her early twenty’s, maybe even younger than Amy, and most likely easily influenced by a vampire’s manipulation skills. “Excuse me, miss,” he began, tipping his hat and continuing that fake, happy little smile. “I was recently approached by a woman who asked me to deliver a message, she can’t seem to push through his reckless crowd, and hoped you would meet her over there,” he gestured toward an area of the city that disappeared behind a large, old looking building.
Looking confused for a second, the girl eventually complied after looking intensely into Kenric’s eyes. With a small, “Alright,” she allowed Kenric to herd her through the crowd and closer to a less populated area. Once out of sight of most people, it looked as though he’s wrapped his arm over her shoulders, but actually clamped his hand over her mouth. “This will be a lot easier if you don’t make any noise,” he muttered dangerously, pushing the two of them into an alleyway and, well…killing the girl.
Kenric emerged once again in less than 5 minutes, the girl was safely hidden behind a couple of trash bins, pulling his scarf over his mouth, he made his way over to the school.
Eyes finally a soft, milky brown, Kenric pushed his way into a random building that had caught his fancy. The sun was high and dangerous, threatening to burn the skin around his eyes if he looked up at it too long. Burning his skin was actually a very appealing idea. He didn’t like having this intangible pain, something that he couldn’t nurse or heal back to health, something he didn’t even know how to fix. He needed an injury that he could see and make better. Of course, that was a foolish idea, and he decided it would be best if he kept himself out of harms way for now.
After his debate, Kenric found himself at the top of the stairs of said building, with one single door separating him from the outside. With a sigh and a shrug, Kenric pushed through the door, keeping his head tilted down so that he wouldn’t risk getting burned. Freezing for a second, Kenric didn’t need eyes to realize who was up ehre with him, his nose gave him the conformation he needed, and he debated between leaving or staying. Hearing her choked sobs, however, helped him make up his mind very quickly. He wasn’t going to run over to her, hold her and make her feel better, no, he would stand here and just watch to make sure she didn’t do anything stupid. He knew that they were both very much capable of doing regrettable things when situations were bad.

Feeling the strain on her body as she cried, Amorina began to calm herself down. Lifting her head from her knees, she rested her cheek on them and looked at the surroundings. It really was beautiful up here, with the sun shining down on everything, making it glisten. She didn't know why, but she wasn't hot with her hoodie on. It was then she realized how much of a breeze was up here. It was nice, and made her put a sad, soft smile on her face. It was just one more thing she could never have done with...Him. The sun would have hurt him too much...
Her body stiffened at the sound of the door opening. She brushed away all the tears that haunted the corners of her eyes and gave a soft, shuddered sigh. Waiting for the person to leave the doorway, she didn't bother looking back. "Are you just going to stand there and stare?" Amorina's voice showed no emotion, a hollowed thing. Her tears had subdued a bit as she began to think less, just staring out towards the ledge of the rooftop. There was a significant place where she could easily step on to, and she was debating whether to or not. No, not because she wanted to jump (though she had definitely considered it); she knew the view would be amazing and a great opportunity for a picture. With this new person on the rooftop, though, she would just wait.
For a second, she wondered if it could be him, her mind telling her to turn around, her body telling her to run now. Looking up towards the sky, though, she felt the warmth of the sun on her face and felt safe. While her left hand held her arm still, her right hand just sort of hung there, the knuckles and top all sorts of shades of purple, blue, yellow, red, even green. The thought of this person being him made her take her left hand and place it securely between her body and her legs, which made her sit up.
Amy thought and sighed angrily, her body stiffening as she realized it would be very difficult for her to hold her camera; she could barely move her right hand. The one thing that mattered to her, the only thing that could make her happy at the moment had just been completely ruined. Could she use her left hand? Possibly, but she still did not know how she was going to hold the camera. Feeling a new rush of tears, Amy squeezed her eyes shut to block them out, wanting the person at the door to either leave or to step onto the roof. She hated being stared at, especially by somebody she didn't know.

“Oh, no. Sorry,” Kenric muttered, though one could barely hear his quiet voice through the cloth that covered the lower half of his face. He tried his best to disguise his voice by putting on a thicker British accent and combining it with a much quieter tone. There really was to reason to try and hide his identity, he had just as much right to be up here as she did, it’s not like she could really do anything to him…except maybe hit him again.
Stepping out into the fierce sunlight, Kenric sauntered around the roof for awhile, hiding his eyes as best he could while catching small glimpses at Amy’s teary eyed face and her bruised hand. Seeing that hand made his own fly up instinctively and touch the side of his jaw that she had hit. It didn’t hurt and there was no mark, but it meant something, the end of their relationships as lovers and friends.
Walking out farther into the Roof, Kenric stood close to the edge and clasped his hands together behind his back. “Excuse me, miss,” he raised his voice a little more so she could hear his fake voice, “may I inquire as to why you seem so upset at this time?” He even changed the way he talked! He hoped that she wouldn’t figure him out, if she did, he wasn’t sure what would happen, chances were, though, that he’d just screw everything up even more.

Listening to the person apologize, she merely shrugged in repsonse, not bothering to turn around. Her sadness just seemed to blend in with her anger now, her mind racing, feeling as if it was going to explode on her. Should she be mad at him? Well of course; he could have at least told her about the human thing. Was it her fault in the first place? The thought made her cringe. If she had just let it go, just not brought up the thought of him turning her, they wouldn't have fought in the first place...
Amorina sighed, still not glancing at what she assumed was a man. "I've lost somebody I never wanted to, and I just realized most of it is my fault anyway." She felt her voice crack as she spoke and put her head back down. "I just..." She sighed. "I just wanted to be able to be on an equal level as him. To be able to live like he did... Just so I wouldn't have to live without him." She wasn't even talking to the man anymore; she had practically forgotten he was there.
She looked at her hand and winced when she tried to flex her fingers, cursing. It could have been sprained; without an X-ray machine, she coudln't be sure. It was more than just bruised, she knew that now. Using her other, infected hand, she held her right hand by the wrist and slowly tried to move it down. It didn't move much before she gave a small yelp and stopped, groaning. Fractured. She could move it a little, so her wrist was only fractured. She knew most, if not all, her fingers were broken in some way.
"And the sad thing is... I think power even worked on him..."

Her words stung more than he could have imagined. Here she was, a poor, broken woman blaming herself for everything that he had caused just by coming into her life. He noticed that she had one again gone back to just ignoring him. Turning on his heel, Kenric walked over to where she was. Placing himself a good 5 feet away from her, Kenric leaned his elbows on his knees, thinking. She didn’t want to live without him, well, that thought was most likely quite the opposite now. Knowing her, this was just a small bump in the road of her life. She was strong enough to get through it and move on, maybe even find a normal person to live a normal life with. Maybe even that guy she said she had been dating, he seemed like he could be a likely candidate. He still couldn’t understand why she would want to be like him, to stay with him, yes, but their relationship was a bumpy one, they were always reaching points where they couldn’t agree and fights broke out, they could be broken apart; why couldn’t she understand how painful it was to have to live until the end of time with all those thoughts haunting your mind at every second. Well, now she wouldn’t have to think about it.
Kenric watched her flex both her hands and also her fingers, wincing every time. “That’s quite a bruise you’ve got there, miss,” he muttered, “you should get it checked out right away,” he added. It was an improvement from what he’d wanted to do about her cuts and bruises. It was something along the lines of picking her up and rushing her to a hospital as fast as he could. But he shrugged, trying to act aloof and like her life didn’t really matter to him.
Her last comment echoed in his mind, storing itself away in the archives of his brain. Yeah, it had worked on him, very well. It was a scary feeling, having all of your “mutations” sucked out of you and for once in over 14 years feeling perfectly normal. He hadn’t liked it, despite the fact that he had at one point been human and didn’t like what he’d turned into when he was changed, going back to a normal life seemed hard and almost impossible. “No kidding,” he found himself saying, pretty loud. In his mind, he was reliving the whole day all over again, feeling those same emotions and seeing their relationship fall right before his eyes.

Amy shrugged. "I'm kind of a med student,"she answered. "My dad's a doctor, so I grew up learning stuff I never thought I'd need to know. Since I can move my wrist, I think it's only fractured or sprained. My fingers... Well, all but my thumb seem to be broken." Picking her hand up hurt, but she did, her brow furrowed, and moved her thumb back and forth and around. "It hurts around there, were the bruises are but.." She shrugged. "I guess that's why they tell you to punch with you thumb out, huh?" Thinking, she let her legs stretch out in front of her for the first time since she had been up there. "If anything, I'll just go back home for a few days and let my dad heal it up... It's what he does..."
Why was she talking to him? She didn't even know this guy, if it was human or not. It felt good to be able to talk to somebody she didn't know, somebody who wouldn't judge her on what she said. Hell, she probably would never see him again, student or teacher. She hadn't seen him, and therefore wouldn't know what he looked like.
Hearing him, she glanced in his direction. Did he know something? She didn't even care at the moment. "It sucks too 'cause he was my high-school sweetheart. When I was younger, and we were happy, I actually wanted to marry that boy." She laughed, shaking her head. "I don't even know why I'm telling you this." She stood up, wincing as she put pressure on her left hand and walked towards the ledge of the rooftop, looking down. "It isn't like it matters anymore. I'll be surprised if I ever see him again." Amy stepped onto the ledge and slowly, akwardly, sat down, letting her legs hang over the side, leaning against the castle-like top. She looked down slightly; usually, she would have never even come close to being so high up or so close to falling. Right now, falling seemed like a very welcoming idea. Amy thought for a moment and shrugged. "Waltzes into my life and runs back out..."

“That’s, um…very useful,” Kenric muttered conversationally about her dad. The mention of her father made his brows furrow together angrily. It was their fault they’d lost their chance to be together during all the time they were separated from each other. He honestly did believe that they would have lasted those last 4 years, but now it was much too late, and it was all because of them. “That’s good,” he told her, watching her slowly move her thumb around. When she said something about going back home for a bit, he turned to her perhaps a little to quickly for a guy who just happened to come onto the roof while she was here. Looking back at the floor, he shrugged, speaking in his false voice, “It’s, ah, always nice to go back home.”
Yeah, like he would know. Kenric had no home to return to, or at least, no one who would be there to welcome him. Sure, he could travel back to London, stare at his house from the end of the street, but that’s as far as it would get, just looking.
Marriage. The thought hit him like an anvil falling straight on his heart. After they had been separated, Kenric often thought about what his life could have been like if he truly had married her. It was one of his favorite little dreams, but it was also the most painful. It was the one most likely to never come true, he had thought, who knew he would have been so right.
Before meeting up with Amy again, that was one of the thoughts he’d often tell himself. He would definitely be surprised if he ever saw her again and he wondered what his reaction could be. Now after screwing things up for the second time, he didn’t count on seeing her again outside of maybe catching glimpses of each other on campus. “I’m sure you won’t,” he told her, “after this,” he whispered.
Kenric watched her walk over to the edge of the roof and his eyes widened. What was she doing?! He was about to run after her until he saw her sit down, just looking out at the view. Walking up behind her, he leaned down so he was closer to her ear, “That’s a little dangerous, you might want to move,” he advised, trying to hide the small hint of fear and disapproval and her being to close to maybe making a mistake that could practically kill her.

She snorted on his comment about going home. "Depends on what you get to look forward to. After hearing this story, they'll light torches and form a village mob to 'kill the vampire.'" Amy gave a small laugh and a sigh. "My parents never liked him. I got into the biggest fights of my life just to make sure I stayed with him, and I lost. I lost the biggest God damn fight of my life." Amy ran her left hand through her hair, wincing as the strands of her hair caught the cut. It burned whenever she flexed her palm, which she found was a lot.
Amy glanced back at this odd stranger, raising an eyebrow as she finally looked at him. She gave herself a small groan. Why do I always get the weirdos? "I wish I did. Just to talk all this shit over. He'll probably avoid me forever, but I just wish I'd be able to actually sit down and try to resolve this. I don't blame him as much as I blame me. Hell, I'd even settle for being pen-pals with him. He was the best friend I had ever had, not counting my cousin. I'm not sure if I'd let myself get close to somebody like that again unless I talked to him."
Hearing the voice right behind her, she let her body tense up. Amy turned around to say something smart, and saw those eyes. Those damn familiar eyes. She began to lean forward and realized what she was doing, jumping back and almost falling backwards. "Being up here with you is too, considering..."

Kenric gave a grossed out kind of face at the thought of being chased by people again. He’d had enough of that after being in his home town for just a few days! “Your parents seem rather judgmental,” he muttered, happy to have been able to keep himself from saying things much more inappropriate about her parents.
Catching her glance, Kenric took his own gaze and quickly averted it to the floor. Standing there and occasionally tapping the toe of his feet together, the vampire listened to what she had to say. And quite frankly, if he was capable of crying, he just might have. Her words made him frown and his heart feel like a wilting flower. “That’s very…mature, and responsible of you to try and…fix your problems,” he complimented. He already knew that she loved him like she had no other man, but hearing her say it, even after everything they’d been through, he couldn’t help but crack a smile.
Finding himself in another situation where they were both staring at each other, Kenric tried to look away but couldn’t. And then she seemed to move and come startlingly close to falling. He reached out both his hands to grabbed her and pull her as far away as possible from the ledge. And then she seemed to maintain her balance a little better, so he allowed his arms to fall back to his sides, his fingers twitching to reach out and grab her. Straightening up, he said, “I-I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he laughed nervously, scratching the back of his neck.

Feeling his hands on her made her jump and tense even more; Amy listened to stutter, she turned back to him. "Drop the act, Kenny." It was as if the patience had been absorbed from her. She had just made a complete love-sick ass of herself in front of him, and he hadn't said a damn thing. Using her left hand to prop her up, she winced and tripped back onto the roof, landing heavily on her foot.
She stood there, looking at him and shaking her head. "Well, I think I've made an utter ass of myself,"she muttered, looking away from him. She had practicaly just poured her heart to him and he hadn't said a thing. Not one thing. "Yeah, my parents are. And... I don't even know what I wanted to say." Her voice cracked. With him there, everything she had felt earlier returned. All her sadness and anger and pain came back a hundredfold. Feeling the tears form, she covered her face the best she could, trying to think. And she had it.
"Why? Why, Kenric. Were you just going to avoid me for the rest of my life, no matter what? Just... Just fight with me and assume all of this is done and over with? Not even caring to ask me what was going on? I..." Amy shook her head again and felt her body begin to shake, the physical battle of her body wanting to cry and her not wanting to.

A sigh was all Kenric could manage once he’d been discovered. The way she tensed up just at his simple touch made him frown once again. He watched her slowly, and rather painfully, make her way back onto the safety of the roof. He instinctively hot his hands out to grabe her, but caught himself right before he accidentally touched her once again.
“Not necessarily,” Kenric admitted. She hadn’t made a complete ass of herself, he had learned quite a bit, and he was happy that he had heard what she had to say and everything she thought about them. Some of the knowledge made him smile while others would most definitely send him into a spiraling abyss of depression and despair…but he could get through that. He was glad he’d come up here, not ecstatically-jumping-for-joy kind of glad, but…he had learned things that could maybe help him deal with this later on.
“Yes, yes, I was,” Kenric admitted, his eyes loosing any hint of emotion and resorting to their usual, blank appearance. “I’m not good for you, this fight just allowed me to realize how horrible out match was, there’s nothing less to do then leave. I’m not going to stick around and make you suffer more than you have or could.” It hurt to admit those words, and he was pretty sure that she could agree, her parents definitely would. He was, without a doubt, sure that she would find someone just as good and move on. She wouldn’t live forever, she wouldn’t be plagued with the thoughts of past loves, at least not for long.

"I'm sorry, for tensing up,"she muttered. "I just... I wasn't sure who I was really talking to..."
Listening to him, she stopped covering her face and waited. "So. That's it, then? We're done and there's no way to fix this? You're just leaving me?" It felt like somebody had just ripped out any hope she had of them getting back together;that her heart had been smooshed and ripped to pieces and eaten. She couldn't even look him in the eyes. There was nothing there, no emotion, no sorrow, nothing.
Amy sighed, feeling the tears win. She shook her head, looking away from him. "You know how I feel. If you really don't care about me, enough to just walk away and not look back..." She couldn't finish the sentence. It was like she didn't even know the person in front of her; the Kenric she knew would have at least wanted to try and fix them. This one... He didn't even seem to care.

“There is. There are lots of ways we could fix this, but none that either of us can or will be willing to live with. You were right, Amy, we just don’t work as a pair. If I want to leave the house during the day, I need to come out like this,” he gestured to his multiple layers of clothes, “to answer your question from before, no, I can’t have kids, and I couldn’t bare to turn you into…a creature of the night.” After running out of her apartment, all of her statements that she’d yelled at him really did make sense. She lived in the sun, she was a bright happy person, she was mortal, he was the complete and total opposite. How could that ever work out?
“Amy, I do care about you,” he amended, his eyes sad as she started crying. “I care a lot, I’m only trying to do what’s best for the two of us, and I can tell you right now, us being together just…” he cleared his throat, trying to get all the words out, “it isn’t good.”

She knew he was right; she just didn't want to admit it. Letting herself sit and lean against the rooftop, she listened to him and nodded. The harsh reality of everything was hitting her, blow after blow, and she took in a shuddering breath. "I know,"Amy muttered, wiping the tears away. "I just wish we could work. It isn't like we were miserable all the time..."
Everything she had ever once hoped to be was falling apart all over again. "I was so happy to see you again... I thought we'd have a second chance to be together, to be like we were before..." This was it. They weren't going to be together forever; the whole time she'd grow up and older, living her life, having kids and grandkids, and wondering about him. Sniffling, she looked up at him. "Can't I just do night-school and then take night-shift at work?" It was a sad attempt, but she wasn't going to just give up without a fight. Even now, she still loved him. She just wished she didn't.
