"Lets get you seated first Mr." She said and made sure to have a firm grip on him and she would not let him go until she knew he was alright. "I will grab something after that. Now, where do you sit?"She asked and looked around the very noisy dining hall.
Aiden looked at him and than at the ground. "I have no one else to talk to." He said and looked back at his teacher. "For some reason, I feel like I can trust you." He said and than remembered, he told him to start talking.
"Alright. I come from a family of 5 siblings. I am the only boy and with that, I was raised by them. My parents, we have no idea where or who they are. When we where discovered, we all where split into different fosters home and I went to a family that hated me. They where mind readers, psychics and such and they did something to me. I can create nightmares into a reality. I was originally was able to control shadows but that new thing that was unlocked, scares me. When Alice, my the youngest sister, was trapped in the realm of mirrors...I lost it." He said and held back tears. "I was sent here because I am a troubled kid but there is something inside of me...that I fear will come out and hurt people. And I have no idea where my family is...or who I am." He said and looked at him in the eyes. "That is why I want to know more about the body...the more I know..the more I am able to discover who I am...or..what I am."

Jonathan took all of this steadily, never wavering in his gaze or his expression. He was old- old enough to not be shocked by too much or blink at a sad story. Humankind was a sad story made of over a billion different voices in different settings. Some were still in their exposition, some were hitting the final Denoument, when their death would give them truths and finality they had never reached in their lifetimes.
When he spoke, it was both to acknowledge Aiden's hardship and to offer assistance. "You have experienced more than many your age, lad." His eyes took on a sad cast, but he said no more than that about the past. "Let's see.... Is Zimuar your last name? I have a contact who is... good about finding people if you give him the right kind of information. He could help us find your family... Finding your parents, if that's possible, could take some time. But we have other things to focus on..."
He folded his fingers together and thought, pursing his lips. "I'll bet the library has some literature that we can use. Your sister... it's a lot like Through the Looking Glass, ironically... nevermind that... I'm saying that we might find some leads in there- I'm a wizard, you know. No guarantees, but if we work together, we might be able to do something on that front, if you're willing to take a risk."
The old man stood up slowly, feeling his joints creak and ache under the pressure. "As for your own powers... I cannot do more than be here and try to support you when you need it. Listening is something I can do, research... you've already made an excellent start, so let's work with that. I'm willing to help you in your endeavors, Aiden. The question is only of how far you're willing to go."
---
Annoyed, Wes said grumpily, "I'm not a child. Leggo."
He nodded to a place off to the side and said a little dizzily, "...off over there... next to the windows, if possible. I need... the light..." He, of course, was referring to any possible chance of sunlight. It was slim, given the storm, but he had to hope. He held the bowl by it's bottom since he didn't trust his fingers enough to grip the edge.
This was all very ironic to him- Wes had been able to maintain a decent amount of lean muscle when in the woods, even if he was impossibly skinny. Now that he was inside, eating very little, sleeping when he was tired enough to pass out the minute his head reached the horizontal, and not getting the amount of running and moving around as he used to... well, he had been better off on his own, even if it was a lonely and hard existence.

Aiden listened to him, every single word.
"Finding my parents?" He said as he thought about that for a second as fears rose up in him. On who they are, why they gave all of them up. But for the first time, he did not know what parents where. "Yes. Zimuar is the last name we all where given. But I do not even know if they go by that name anymore." He said honesty but it never crossed his mind to have others help him. But he listened as the teacher continued.
"Through the looking glass...I think I read that book." He said as he thought about it, about the story of Alice in the other world..Alice...is Alice? Research, that could work but where would he start. What was the truth and what was fiction.
His own powers, yet another wall but having this teacher to help him. Trust? Did he have someone he could trust? Looking down at the ground he realized he just put a heavy burden on his shoulders. "I apologies for getting you involved in all of this."
"Don't be a baby and suck it up." She said and lead him to a very sunny corner spot to a bench for him to sit down. "Until I get you to a point where you can walk on your own two feet, your stuck with me." She said and got up to grab some milk for her.

Jonathan Enders shrugged. "Any lead is a good lead for this man. People might change their names, but that doesn't stop them from leaving a trace of their existence. Even if your parents were careful, there's a chance somebody might hold a recollection of them and be able to point us in the right direction."
"You have? Oh good. That might be one of the few books I haven't read in my lifetime. I just happened to know what it was about... sort of."
Enders shook his head when the boy tried to apologize. "Youngling, you would be surprised at the amount of time I have on my hands. I might as well be helping you out. Who knows? Perhaps I might help myself in the process. My knowledge of my own powers is limited and spending some time in the school library would increase my chances of coming across something that could teach me something new. However, I would have assisted you even if there was nothing in it for me- I am your teacher. It's a part of the code. I guide my students however I can and help them develop into intelligent, self-confident, happy adults."
---
"Hey!" he said, in a voice of mock-indignation, "I'm not some sort of cripple! I'm just sort of strength-deficient right now. I'm absolutely fine!"
When she went to go get her food or whatever she was going to have, Wes took a bite of the salad. Unlike the last time he ate, he made an effort to chew slowly and swallow gently. He also forced himself to wait between bites. It was hard- to deny oneself food when one most certainly needed it... and it was right in front of him too...
Meanwhile, he could close his eyes and feet the leaves protruding from his blonde locks soaking up the light and producing sugars, which would soon give him a burst of energy.

Again, he listened. To every word he had to say. It was like a page was being written in his history but instead of being full of horror and sadness, it was full of hope. A light at the end of the tunnel you can say. It seems, he does have drama in his life. Both now bad...and good. Hearing about the library and research, he looked at the teacher in a different way. In a way, that held some pride behind his eyes.
"Alright. Let me make you a deal sir." He said. "If we both happen to be in the library at the same time...we can both help eachother out. I for one read alot of books and have met alot of people. I do not want you to spend all your time helping me..." He said and hope he was making sense. Aiden did not want charity but he would like a helping hand. If there was anything he could help his teacher out with, he would do it. For his kindess and his patients.
Layette only rolled her eyes when she heard him yell out to her. Grabbing a milk and a bannana, she walked back to the table and sat down across from him. Looking and noticing the difference in his hair, she made a note that he reminded her of a plant. The more sunlight it seems, the better.
"I agree you are absolutly fine." She said with a teasing tone. "I do not think you are a cripple but a guy in need of a helping hand at this moment. Who knows, maybe tomorrow you will be helping me." She said and opened her milk and took a sip.

Jonathan nodded, respect written on his features. "Very well, Lad. We'll both get somewhere." He walked over to a cabinet and took out some slides, going through them carefully. These were the tissue slides, part of the first unit. "Perhaps a little later. Now that the weather seems to be clearing up, I think I'll take a walk."
---
Wes sighed, avoiding thinking about the future as much as was possible. "Okay."
He closed his eyes again... this time to feel a renewed vigor reach his limbs. When he opened this eyes, they had brightened considerably. "Yeah, I'll help you when you need it."

"You have a deal." She said and started to eat her bannana as she looked out the window and looked to him. "From what I see, you react to sun like a plant. May I ask you about your gift?" She asked and took a sip of milk.
"Thank you." He said and smiled as he bowed, out of respect as he walked towards the door. "If you ever need any help with preperation, just give me a call." He said and walked out of the classroom and back out to the hallways.

Wes's expression immediately went blank. He didn't want to actually say what his gift was... to him it was more like a curse anyhow and he had a feeling that alienation was in his future if he decided to reveal everything. People just weren't up to understanding what he was.
"Uhhh... yeah, it's like... I'm Plant boy... I can sort of communicate with plants and stuff.. I'm kind of part plant myself." He forced a laugh andstared into his salad, leaning over it with a guarded look on his face.

She just looked at him and her expression did not change. "It must be hard." She began. "I would not consider you plant boy but you have a special connection with plants. As I do with water." She said and reached into her backpack and took out a bottle of water as when she did, her eyes went bright. "When I am near water, my eyes get brighter...I do not need it to survive but I need to be around it in order to exist." She said and than put it away as she finished her banana. "So I kind of understand." She said and smiled. "As I said, kind of." She said, noticing he was laughing about it, to hid his pain.

Wes smiled then, just because. It wasn't the same at all, but he felt for her anyways. And he wasn't going to explain it to her. Already, he could foresee how things were going to get in the Fall, near November...
He couldn't get too close to any of these people. It would only hurt them in the end. He would disappear and hopefully not leave a gap in their social circles. Wes needed to be careful.
"Let's talk about something else," he said slowly. "I don't know if I care for this topic. Being Plant Boy is more embarrassing than anything else and I don't think I like worrying about your water-based existence."

Layette knew that she would not understand. At least she tried. "Alright." She replied, knowing this must be a touchy subject. He was afraid of himself, or at least she thought when she looked at him. But hearing the last sentence, hurt her a little.
"I can understand if you do not want to talk to me. But you do not have to be a jerk." She said a little defensive. But knew, that there was something else bothering him.

Wes was confused. Had he been a little too blunt in what he said? He wouldn't have been too surprised. With no company out in the woods, his social skills were definitely lacking now.
"That's not my intention, but it might be best if you thought of me that way." He took a bite of salad and used that as an excuse not to elaborate.

"I am guessing you do not make friends so easily." She said and looked at him. Sure, he did offend her but that does not mean she would leave this table. Being one of the gifted, she knew that first impressions where always wrong.
"Tell me Wes, more about yourself." She said and took a sip of her milk.

"You are probably the first person I've had a conversation this long with in a very long time. I dunno... My last close friend lost contact with me over a year ago." Wes didn't meet her eyes; his were still anchored to his salad.
He wasn't eating anymore. The conversation had upset him enough to drive away any feeling of hunger he'd felt. Shadows shifted on his face as he leaned his head on a hand.
"Not much to tell. Been on my own for a while, kinna had to be... I dunno. Everything I was before I got my powers has been... sort of shunted off to the side. I'm not the same person anymore. I can't be the same person anymore. It just... doesn't work."
He shrugged, trying not to get too worked up over this... then asked, "You? Who is Layette Morse?"

She looked at him and listened. A overwhelming feeling of sadness came over her heart hearing how he felt about himself. It never has to be this sad, no ones life should ever have to be this sad. But when he changed it over to her, she would answer to keep the conversation going.
"She is one of 16 children. The 3rd youngest and who was chosen to go into healing. All of use hold the same ability but of a different element. 4 of us hold similar elements and with that, we are split into teams and solve a problem. That is why, I enjoy the whole lab partner thing, things are better done in teams." She said and looked at him.
