Aiden noticed the students filing in as he looked at the teacher and only nodded as he sat down. Looking at the book that he was so into before, he gently pushed it aside. It seemed, he had another source for his questions, once that seemed to it his needs more than a silly ol' book.
A student though, did catch his eye as he sat near him. His red eyes looked into his green ones and as quickly as he looked to the boy, he looked away. He was not here to make friends but only to understand. It seemed, that he is not one to make friends so easily.
A girl walked into the room and sat near a boy in the back. She did not look at him but straight ahead, at the teacher wanting to get his over with. Her long light blue hair was falling to the floor as her dark blue eyes looked around. Her creme skin matched the color of her simple yet stylish summer dress. Looking down at her book, she had no idea why she was here and was not happy about it.

Enders squinted at the boy with black hair. "I remember you from the forest! You're the lad who helped me down from that infernal tree." He looked down at an attendance list he had next to the projections. "You're... Sam'ael Lennox, right?"
The boy nodded, appearing to make a slight face. Enders assumed, rightly, that it was at the use of his full name. "You prefer to be called Sam? Alright." He made a note of it on his sheet.
He nodded to a couple of girls who'd sat in his class. "Names?"
They answered and he checked them off his sheet. He seemed almost concerned when he looked at the emaciated blonde kid in the back row. "You?" "Gavin Underhill," the boy answered wearily. "But you can call me Wes."
Ender's mouth tightened, but he moved on, his attentions now on the blue-haired girl. "And what's your name? Might as well get all this introduction stuff now so we don't waste valuable class time."
---
Meanwhile, Wes found himself staring at a girl sitting nearby. She had an odd hair color... but he was not one to talk, with leaves growing out of his scalp as they did.

Aiden looked at his book and pretended to be looking at something. He felt eyes on him and he hated that feeling. But hearing the names, he looked to the people that they belonged to so he could get a face with the name.
Sam..it seemed he would be his lab partner and as he looked behind him, there was Wes and a blue haired woman. Aiden knew who she was, and it was a little annoying that she was in this class.
"Layette." She whispered with a very heavy English Accent and as she pulled up her hair and put it in a pony tail, that hair still was long and almost hit the floor. "Layette Morse."

Jonathan nodded and checked her name off the list too. His eyes caught something that was already cause for some concern. "Ms. Morse, I'll have you know that hair that long will get in the way and needs to be tied up and out of the way on lab days. I recommend a bun or something along those lines. We'll be working with dissections and, on occasion, bunsen burners."
He looked at the clock again. "Take a moment to introduce yourselves to your lab partners while I set up the projector. Get to know each other." He saw no need to lower the white screen if the whiteboard was clean and big enough to encompass the images he was going to use.
---
Wes was tired, but his nature was amiable enough. "Hello, Layette. Er... I guess we're working together." He offered her a smile, but it looked a little funny on his still too-thin face.
What he hadn't told anybody was his inability to hold down food. He'd figured out the reason only recently- he'd been going after rich, too-flavorful foods... and in large quantities at that. It was hard, though, to limit himself after so long.
---
Sam held out a hand to shake, a grin spreading across his face. There wasn't much more he could do other than that at the moment. He supposed that he could get his notebook out, but he would wait for the other boy's introduction.

She rolled her eyes at the comment as she reached behind her head. Wrapping it up and making two large buns. "Little good it will do.."She muttered as she listened and than turned to face the boy that will be her lab partner. She cocked her head a little and looked at him. This boy was far to skinny and it worried her a tad but it was not her problem as she moved some hair out of her face. "I guess." She said in a sweet voice and looked at him with her blue eyes. "I must warn you Wes...I have no control over..." She said and held out a piece of her hair. "This..." She said and laughed a little, trying to lighten the spirit a little bit.
Aiden looked over to his lab partner and received the hand. He was not used to meeting new people but he wanted answered and needed them so he will do whatever it takes to get them. "I'm Aiden." He said and shook the hand, not saying anything more.

Sam nodded and smiled, then took out a notepad. "Nice to meet you, Aiden." He paused, then added, "I look forward to working with you."
---
Wes's expression was one of amusement and calm happiness. Now that his mind was off of his preoccupation with being indoors, he acted much more at-ease. "Well, we'll figure it out as things go on."
---
Enders flicked on the projector and a faint square of light appeared on the whiteboard. "Aiden, get the lights, please."
He picked up a slide. "I will get to the rest of the rules for lab at the end of class. For now, I have a few things to show you all. Ladies," he said sternly to a couple of girls laughing to themselves in the far left corner, "I have very little tolerance for those who find what they have to say more important than what I have to teach. If you are already bored, you may want to switch out of this course."
He pushed in a slide and two photographs appeared side-by-side. One was of a sarcophagus, the other of a man recieving acupuncture. "The study of the human body is not new. There are theories that civilizations older than those of Egypt and China developed their knowledge of bodily structures. Since their cultures depended on the passing of knowledge orally instead through written means, the depth of their wisdom is unknown."

Aiden nodded when he was instructed to get the lights. He stood making very little noise as he walked over to the light switch and turned the lights off. With as little sound as possible, he walked back to his desk and looked over at Sam. "I look forward to working with you as well." He replied in a whisper and looked up at the teacher.
Layette looked over to Wes and smirked. "Tell me something Wes...why are you here?" She asked and looked at the teacher but still listening when the lights turned off.

Wes thought about that question for a moment, then shrugged. He muttered softly, "I dunno... because somebody thought I needed to take this class?"
He gave a sneaky look at the teacher and leaned close to the girl to whisper, "You?"
Unfortunately, he wasn't sneaky enough, apparently.
"Mr. Underhill, I would appreciate it if you would pay attention. You can speak to me after class if you continue to have issues concentrating."
---
Sam paid close attention, fascinated. Periodically, he jotted something down in the binder, but other than that, he stared straight ahead at the board.
---
The slides changed and he continued, getting a little more confident. Now on the board was a painting of men performing an amputation. "The Greeks certainly held an interest in medicine and the human body. The first medical school was established in 700 BC. Romans were not so interested. Almost all doctors in Rome came from abroad. Then Christianity came along and the study of the human body ended for a time. Pope Innocent III officially made it clear that the church did not wish for any more activity to be done, and that included surgery."
He sighed, then changed the projection to a couple of pieces of art and some yellowed sketches of anatomical structures. "The Renaissance was not only a rebirth of culture, but of science. Artists like Leonardo DaVinci disinterred corpses and dissected them in a quest to make their paintings as realistic as possible. However, since what they were doing was prohibited at the time, many of DaVinci's sketches were not brought to public eye until much later."
He switched the slides again. Now there were pictures of modern-day scientists. "After the invention of the microscope, the study of anatomy took leaps. Now we're not only able to study muscles and organs, but their components, and the components of those components."
With that, he turned off the projector. "So, when you sit in this class, you're not only learning the names and functions of different tissues and organs... you're continuing a grand tradition of discovery and innovation.
"Any questions?"

Aiden shifted in his seat as he looked at the slides as questions formed in his head. He heard these names before, the elementary schools he attended with some what normal folk. But, if they knew of these people, is this class off 'normal' body parts rather than the ones most of these student's have.
"Sir." Aiden said and spoke up a little. "I understand the need to learn about the 'normal' human body and its functions but will it take away from what we are and make us seem like the 'virus' attacking the body?" He asked.
Layette only smirked when he got yelled at and she ripped off a piece of paper and wrote down a note as she very directly passed it off to Wes. The note read: "Requirement. Need to 'learn' how the body works if I am meant to be a healer."
Looking over to Wes, she could not help but smile at the thought of him getting in trouble but when she heard Aiden's question, she looked towards the front of the class.

Enders thought about the best way to answer the question before answering, "There's nothing I can do about the differences between the human anatomy and the Gifted anatomy. There simply has not been enough research done and I can't say that I condone it. You see, there are so many different kinds of powers and different kinds of Gifteds that there could never be a definitive study on us. Besides, if you open that route to certain powerful people, you might end up with abominable activities being committed."
He smiled. "Fortunately, I do not think the differences between, say, you and I, are more drastic than the differences between male and female, or baby and adult. In this class, we're not going to be dissecting human corpses, since you find the same structures between species. In this class, we'll dissect cats. So, you see, there cannot be too many differences if Gifteds evolved from humans. Any other questions? Would you like me to clarify my answer more?"
---
Wes paled somewhat at the new topic, but replied to Layette. "Really? A healer? That's cool."
"Mr. Underhill, that was your only warning. You can stay after class and I'll give you some tips to help you stay focused."

Layette smirked as he got in trouble once more as she spoke up. "Sir. I provoked him to get off task. May I stay after as well?" She asked, wanting to actually talk to Wes and it seemed, she may actually have an opportunity. With the topic on cats, it did not phase her and when she looked down to Aiden, it did not phase him either.
Aiden only nodded at the response and got his answer. The topic on cats, he did not flinch. How the body moves and forms, creates and dies, is what makes this class interesting and so far, the teacher kept him interested. But, he did have a question.
"With lab partners, what is required of us?" He asked and looked over at Sam and than back over to the teacher.

Enders shook his head, but acquiesced. "Very well, Ms. Morse. You will stay after as well."
He returned his attention to questions. "I make you work in partners because you might notice something your lab partner does not, or he might see something you missed. It's also easier to fit one cat per table. Supplies are not unlimited. My funding does not cover a dissection kit for every one of you. My final reason is for the fact that inevitable there will be some of you in this class that won't be able to perform a dissection yourself. It's not a sign of weakness or anything, but I would rather not let these people fail because they cannot make a cut."
He added, "The papers that are on the desks in front of you are syllabi. They outline the rules and go over what we'll be studying. The first unit is tissues. Oftentimes, this is the most boring part of anatomy. If you make it past this unit, you'll be golden in terms of having an interest in this class."
"I have a few rules. Some of these are generalized lab rules, some are rules you have probably seen in your other classes. You know, like respecting your classmates and myself and not disrupting class. No eating. I must stress this. This room is used for dissection and there are all sorts of chemicals and fluids on the surfaces of these tables and you definitely don't want to injest them."
He gestured to the sides of the room. "You'll find eye-washing jets over there and you are to use those if you do get something in your eyes. There's also an emergency shower and a fire blanket. I doubt you'll need either, but it's best to be safe. The other rules: don't run around or horseplay, follow lab procedure exactly unless I say otherwise, turn in your homework on time, etc."
He took in his class and he nodded to himself. This seemed like a bright bunch, even if a few were a little too talkative for their own good. "Any more questions before I hand out the homework and set you all loose? Well, all of you except Ms. Morse and Mr. Underhill."

Layette could not help but smile when she heard her name after the speech with the lab partners. Looking over to Wes, she smirked. "Trapped." She said even quieter than a whisper as she looked from Wes and back to the teacher.
Aiden did not have anymore questions as he looked over the syllabi in front of him. Tissue...cats...no eating. This is a odd class but not one he will hate. Reading, he was still listening to the teacher but found the words on paper caught his interest once more.

A couple of groans from the corner told him the thoughts of those girls about the homework. "Yes, you're getting homework. It's easy enough, just a small worksheet to let me know how much you know about the subject. I will assign books next class."
He glanced at the clock. "Alright. You can get going. Bear in mind that you will never get out this early again. Enjoy it for today. Don't forget to pick up your homework as you pass my desk. Aiden, I will explain the details to you about the aide job before class next time."
---
Sam picked up his belongings and nodded at Aiden, who seemed very competent. He was pleased in his lab partner and couldn't wait for next class.
---
Wes sighed and leaned back in his seat. "Sorry," he mouthed to Layette. He still couldn't understand why she'd volunteered to stay after too. She had not been caught, what was the point?

"Yes Sir." Aiden said as he sat up and started to gather his things. Taking his books and other school supplies, he pack them in his black backpack and swung it over his shoulder. Looking over to his lab partner he nodded. "I will see you next class." He said as he looked to the teacher and quietly walked out of class. He was not leaving for good but wanted to give the teacher time to do his discipline.
Layette only leaned back in her chair to stressed. She did not have any attempts to get up or to move as she looked over to Wes. "There is no need to be sorry." She said as she let her hair down. The blue strands where a little longer as it was all over the floor, it was as if it was sweeping up the dirt. As she noticed it got longer, she growled and started to French braid her hair. "It was my fault for starting a conversation with my lab partner." She said and looked to the teacher, waiting to get the lecture.
