Emilio felt the visions fade and he visibly relaxed, closing his eyes and resting his forehead on drawn-up knees. Once he got his bearings, he looked up, wondering how he'd regained peace to quickly. His brown eyes flicked to Caroline, sweeping up the remains of a mug and depositing them in her trash can to a movement that made him snap his head in its direction.
He remembered and color flooded his cheeks. Immediately, he was on his feet and apologizing. "Lo siento!" he said quietly, but worriedly. "I... was not thinking." He gave a helpless glance to Caroline, who had choked off a laugh at that excuse. He continued, "I no meaning to wake you up."
Caroline pulled the kettle off the stove and poured water into her mug and into the new one she pulled out for Emilio. Despite the red in his cheeks, he still looked too shaken from whatever it was that he'd seen. Caroline was going to force him to drink the soothing chamomile, and sit with them for a while. Then she could send him back without feeling guilty or worrying that he would not be okay.
Caroline turned to Amy and asked, "Well, if there's anything you want, just ask."

Amorina smiled at him, concentrating to make sure she didn't let whatever messed him up before mess him up again. (It wasn't like she minded him being barely clothed, either). She shook her head though, and shrugged. "I wasn't sleeping anyway." Glancing at Caroline, she shrugged again. "Certain things don't sleep night either..." Amy felt a little guilty for still being afraid of it, but she had a good reason. He had almost killed her!
"A stake and holy water, possibly." She smiled at her small joke. "Honestly, a glass of water would be nie." Amy looked at Emilio. "Are you okay?"

Caroline nodded and tried to look composed, but her eyes did stray to the front door, making sure it was locked. And there was nothing she could do about the request made in jest, but she could take care of a glass of water.
Emilio looked scandalized for a moment, then remembered that she used to date a vampire. He visibly relaxed, but his eyes also flicked to the door. Behind him, a tea kettle started its tinny whistling and Caroline swiftly moved it off the burner and turned the stove off.
The Cuban slowly nodded to Amy's question. "I am okay. You... you did this." It wasn't a question. Visions once started usually completed themselves to the very end. Remembering the things he saw and heard made Emilio go ashen again and he had to sit down.
Caroline handed him a steaming mug of tea and held out a glass of water for Amy. "I think we could take him without a stake and holy water, actually," she admitted. She felt a little guilty about this, but now that she was an empowered woman (the empowerment came with the lifestyle changes), she felt a little more confident of her gift.... and the damage she could do with it.
She had been thinking for a while about the nature of sound, in the fact that it was created by vibrations through a medium, in the fact that vibrations were everywhere.... in the stirring of the earth, in a footstep.... in the pulse of a heart. All Caroline had to do would be to magnify that vibration to something either disruptive or audible. It had also occured to her that she needed to practice.
Between her gift, Emilio being there (he got into scraps all the time; the beauty of being a dancer was that he was always toned and very aware of where his limbs were at any given moment), and Amy's power of taking away power.... well, this vampire would be hard-pressed to do anything.

Glancing at Emilio, Amy nodded. "It's what I do. If you want me to, I'll stop." She didn't want him to feel uncomfortable with her there; sometimes taking away people's gifts could have horrendous outcomes, things she didn't want Emilio to have to go through. Their gift wasn't just a part they could always easily turn off. It was a part of them, a part of that person that soem can't live without. She was only sorry that it hadn't killed Kenric.
Amy took a sip of water and smiled. What Caroline was saying was absolutely true. Without being a vampire, Kenny was just a 17-year-old teenager who could barely hold his own. Looking at Caroline and Emilio, she gave a small laugh. "I think so. In reality, he's just some seventeen-year-old kid." She snorted, shaking her head. What had she ever seen in him? She didn't know. She thought she had loved him. Maybe she had.
She walked over to where Emilio sat and scratched his head. The option for her to stop was still up, but she knew the closer she got to him, the more effect it would have. Amy caught herself... Gazing, and looked away from him to look around the kitchen and take another sip of water. Amorina knew she looked a God-awful mess, but, at this time at night, she didn't exactly care.

Emilio did not mind. In fact, he was very grateful for her intercession. Now that he didn't have his visions weighing down his mind, he felt awfully tired. But he knew the minute he left her sphere of influence, he would probably reenter that nightmare until dawn. Still... since he was sure it was important, he almost felt a physical need to finish the story. Find out who the players were, figure out how to stop it from ever occurring.
He didn't answer. He only gave her a tired but grateful smile, wrapped his arms around her and gave her a hug. She smelled wonderful, but he didn't let himself linger too long, highly sensitive of how undressed he was. Also, he was worried about having scared her with his probably insane-sounding muttering.
But that was an unfounded fear, he reasoned. The feel of her fingers in his hair... it was amazing and ended all too quickly.
Caroline smiled and held back both jokes she made in her head immediately- one about teenagers and one about going after younger guys. For some reason, they seemed to be in poor taste. She took a long drink of tea and felt the warmth spread through her body, relaxing her and inciting a sense of zen.
She turned to her brother. "What was it this time? What did you see?"

Amy smiled when her hugged her, placing an arm behind him and giving him an awkward hug back. Goodness, he was so warm. It was an extremely good change from the cold, marble-like skin of a vampire. She didn't want to move her arm, but did anyway, letting her hand reach back to his head to scratch again. She knew personally how comforting it could be when somebody was tired and frightened.
Finally, she had found somebody who appreciated her help. He seemed much more tired, though. Without having to worry about seeing something, she guessed, it just made it easier to sleep. She wanted something like that to happen to her; Amorina knew once dawn rolled around, she would be out. The sun was much like her own savior, watching over her.
Amorina thought for a second and smiled at them both. "Uh, I have rather baggy clothes that you could borrow for the time being, Emilio." She shrugged. "I have a few pairs. Just a suggestion." Considering she was taller than him, Amy knew the sweatpants would be a little long, and the shirt would be big too, but it would be better than boxers. Well, no, it wouldn't, but it would help fix the subtle awkwardness of the situation.
She waited for Emilio's answer to Caroline's question, but wondered if maybe it wasn't right for her to be there too.

Emilio smiled, but shook his head. He would be fine for now- he had a feeling that it would be rather strange to start a Feminist revolution in clothes-borrowing at this point in time.
Besides, he wasn't uncomfortable like this- he had never been ashamed of his body. He just didn't want to make Amy nervous by getting too close like this. He froze when he realized something. Maybe she was uncomfortable with him only wearing boxers! She had been... staring earlier.... maybe that was the reason why. Immediately, he blurted out, "Si tu quieres... if you want I should wear your clothes..."
At Caroline's question, his face clouded over with a hint of the haunted look from before. "I-I saw... los muertos... y... heard..." Here he shuddered and said no more. No need to worry them, he told himself. He would deal with this himself.

Amorina smiled and shook her head gently. "Well, I don't mind, I just wasn't sure if it'd be awkward for anyone else." Yeah, like she would mind seeing him in just boxers; she would have been a little disappointed if he really had wanted to borrow some clothes. Feeling a little awkward in her pajamas, she stopped with the head-scratching and adjusted her pants so they weren't askew anymore. Turning all around to get comfortable in such baggy clothes meant the clothes stayed while you moved.
Looking down at him, Amy caught the word and felt a new wave of worry wash over her. To have a nightmare like that didn't even seem fair. He wasn't a horrible person, so why should he be plagued with such horrible visions? She gently patted his arm, finishing her water in the process. Water always made her feel better for some reason.
"Is there any way for you to control what you see while you sleep?"
If she could have helped him sleep, she would. Amy wasn't going to sleep for a few hours and didn't have anything better to do. For most of the night, Amy would just have to sit there and think and worry and be frightened.

Good grief. That was so cute... and he was having trouble focusing on the question. "What?" Oh yeah. She'd asked something that was hard to explain in English.
He thought for a moment, then said slowly, in a calm voice. "You know the difference... between los suenos en la noche y los del dia..." he looked to Caroline, who translated.
"He's saying that it's like the difference between daydreams and dreams you have at night."
Emilio nodded, then continued. "Dreams at day... you control most of... happenings in them. Dreams at night not having control over what happens, yes? Only few people can controlling them. I not control my visions... they happen random. Usually not good." The edges of his mouth tightened and he took a long drink of tea to avoid going any further with it.
Caroline had an eyebrow raised, but busied herself with putting the tea away and finishing her own mug.

Amy listened, letting her smile fade while she thought. Leaning against the wall, her eyes cast down, she lost herself in thought. How could she help him? She didn't want to leave Caroline all alone up here to go down to his room; that'd be a little inappropriate. She wasn't sure what to do. She wasn't about to push him into talking about it more.
Her lips pursed slightly as she thought and chewed at her bottom lip, her arms crossed over her chest. "I wish there was a way I could really help. I'm not sure if trying to reach all the way down to your apartment would work." Brushing her hair out of her face, she gave a small sigh. "I could always try, though..."
Amorina's mind was telling her it wouldn't work even before the words were out of her mouth. Working through the walls, down stairs, to try to find the right person would take a lot out of her, and she was too afraid to let herself collapse from exhaustion.
Still lost in her thoughts, trying to figure it out, she seemed to have zoned out a little bit. What could she do? How could she do it?

"Out of the question," Caroline immediately said. And Emilio was nodding his head in agreement. He felt the difference a few feet made- it wouldn't reach his apartment and he wondered if she could hurt herself in trying.
And Emilio had other reasons not to let Amy do this for him. "I no... wanting to keep you from sleeping. I handle it, yes?"
Caroline spoke up again. "Emilio, if you need to be nearby tonight, just in case you get another one, I have a sleeping bag somewhere in my closet. If Amy's alright with it, I can set you up somewhere here." She glanced at Amy. "If not, we can try something else. Maybe sleeping pills?" She was sure she had some somewhere...

Amy looked up at Caroline when she had said no, and then to Emilio. "I won't fall asleep until the sun is fully up, so you don't have to worry about that." Aww, he cared. She gave him a comforting smile and turned back to Caroline. It was a good idea...
"I'm fine with that. It'll give me something to do while I wait."
When her own night-worries had started, Amorina had tried sleeping pills. All that had done was make her jittery and sick the next day. They had a dance contest to do tomorrow (er..today) and Amy didn't want Emilio to feel sick.
It would keep her from worrying about him, too; if he was there with her, she would know he would be okay.

Caroline and Emilio glanced at each other. It was settled, then. Emilio would be set up with a sleeping bag in an out-of-the way place and would try to get some sleep before tomorrow.
Caroline put her mug in the sink and disappeared into her bedroom for a minute and emerged with a sleeping bag and a pillow. She handed both to Emilio with a curt nod, then said, "I'm going to try to sleep a little more. Good night.... err, morning."
With that, she went back to her room and gently closed the door. Emilio sighed slightly, and rolled his shoulders back.
He smiled at Amy. "Gracias.... I am grateful..." His eyes searched for a good corner to unroll this sleeping bag in and he found it. Okay. Before he went to go set up his one-night sleeping arrangement, he tucked the sleeping bag and pillow under one arm and hugged Amy again.

Amorina gave Caroline a small wave as she placed her glass in the sink. Good. She wouldn't have to worry about Emilio's nightmares, and she felt a little safer with him there. Not that it was going to change her sleepless nights. No, she was still scared of falling asleep at night no matter who was there. God himself could be sitting beside her, and she still wouldn't be able to fall asleep.
When Emilio hugged her, she smiled and hugged him back. "De nada." He was so warm, it was ridiculous. She didn't want to let go of him, but she did anyway. She didn't want to cause an awkward situation for any of them. Still, she smiled at him and kissed his cheek. "Now go get some sleep."
