That grin of his made her body tingle, her face flush, and her eyes turn away from him. Why couldn't she stop blushing? It was so embarrassing! She wasn't some highschool girl again, giggling and flirting with the popular boy at school. This was a co-worker of hers, a very attractive one that intrigued her and made her feel better than she ever had. She had loved Kenric, and that had been a very nice feeling. But after everything he had told her, it just felt like lies.
Amorina decided on a water, the best drink in her opinion. It didn't make her body cringe in it's sourness, nor did it confuse her mind the way alcohol did. No weird aftertaste, either. It made her tongue sting at how cold it was, but she just grinned at Emilio. Nothing was going to make her upset now.
He hadn't let go, either. When his eyes left to venture to the sky, she followed them. The beauty of it made her smile grow soft, and she almost didn't catch his words. Amorina squeezed his hand and nodded. "I think so too."
[woowoowoo TIME LEAP woowoowoo]
The walk home was... odd. With Emilio not allowing Caroline's interest to walk her home, she felt that she had to walk between them. She didn't want Caroline to feel left out; after all, she was the one related to Emilio. Even though he had been nice about it, she still felt odd that he hadn't let Hector walk Caroline home. Still... Maybe he was just being a protective brother.
Half-way home, Amy had decided to take off her shoes. Her feet were killing her, but she kept a smile on nonetheless. Even barefooted, she wanted Emilio to think she looked good. After dancing so much, and the fact that he was still holding her hand, she felt more confident in herself.
She knew it wouldn't be long before they were back at Caroline's; she could see it up ahead already. Amy didn't want to leave Emilio just yet, but she knew they had to sleep for the next night. That was the thought that let her relax and smile. She would see him again tomorrow, and again the next night.

Emilio could tell that Caroline was tired as she walked up to her front door, letting him have a moment with Amy. She'd pouted at him a little for not letting Hector walk with them, but he hoped she understood that he simply didn't want the stranger to know where she lived.
Emilio stopped and turned to Amy. He kissed the hand he'd held all the way to Caroline's place and smiled. "Hasta manana... see you tomorrow, Bonita." He wanted to kiss her somewhere else too... perhaps on her neck, or on her perfect lips...
Emilio thought about it and decided that Amy was prettiest when she was comfortable. If that meant no shoes, then so be it. It didn't matter too much when they weren't dancing... even if they were, he wasn't the type to step on his partner's feet. Hey, he liked going shoeless periodically. Especially during the summer.
---
Caroline unlocked the door to her apartment, ready for nothing more than to get her shoes off and get out of the dress. Comfortable nightclothes, please!
She was looking forward to tomorrow more than ever now, since she knew there would be somebody waiting for her there. Hector.
It had been nice to forget about Tobias for a while. Yes, she still felt confused about the half-wolf, but at least she could drown her senses in Hector- he was normal. He was safe. He could get through a conversation with her without making an infuriating judgement or going crazy.
Hanging up her keys and turning on the lights, she allowed herself a sigh. Tomorrow would be better. She could talk to Emilio... get him to stop sending out the protective vibes. She was in her late twenties, gosh darnit! She was old enough to know how to behave.

Amorina watched Caroline leave, silently thanking her. Guilt made her wish that Emilio had let Hector come along too, but she knew there had to be a reason for it. She didn't see him as somebody who would just judge a person based on how they looked or something... Then again, at this moment, Amy didn't care. There were better things on her mind.
It was then that she realized, with her shoes off, she was more around his height. Thank God. Amy hated being so tall sometimes; it never helped in the guy department. Still, as he kissed her hand, the problem of her height seemed to disappear. It seemed too early to see him leave, now; she didn't want tonight ot end. Amy's heart jumped everytime she remembered they still had two more days.
Placing her shoes on the ground, Amorina draped her hands around his neck and drew him into a hug. Oh, he could randomly kiss her at the festival, but she couldn't even score a good-night kiss? She didn't think so.
Moving so her lips were clsoe to his ear, much as he had when they were dancing, she kept her voice quiet and soft. "Gracias para un noche maravilloso."

Dang. She was so close... Emilio breathed in deeply and let out that breath slowly. His heart pounded a little faster at her scent and it was so easy... too easy to lean forward and lightly touch his lips to the side of her neck.
"De nada," he breathed. His hands drifted to her lower back and he kissed her neck again, this time a little bit lower.
But then he forced himself to stop. They were both tired and the dance competition was tomorrow. Emilio leaned back so he could look into her eyes again. "Sleep... well."
---
Caroline unfolded the pull out bed and moved the couch cushions so they wouldn't be in the way. She was very thankful to have decked it out in clean sheets already.
The half-hispanic cast a look at the door, then slipped out of her shoes and sighed in relief. She hoped Emilio was behaving himself. Amy had only recently broken up with the vampire... it would not be prudent for him to seduce her so soon.

Amy felt her knees grow weak as his lips touched her neck, and pressed herself against him with the second kiss. Letting out a soft, involuntary moan, she felt her body tense while her mind fought with every other part of her. Had it been anywhere else he had kissed, the fight would have been easy to handle. Considering those kisses had landed on her "Achille's Heel", she didn't know what she wanted to do. His hands on her back only made the fight harder to handle.
Her head was thankful he pulled away, but she knew her face was red. Looking into his eyes only made her battle harder, but she gave him a small. "You too." She knew she wouldn't sleep at all. With her fear of the night and the thoughts of tomorrow, Amorina knew she would be falling asleep at around six in the morning, if then. Maybe she would be able to get a few hours in during the night.
Oh, what the Hell. To Amy, if he could steal a kiss, so could she. And she did. A small kiss, one that didn't even come close to showing him how she was feeling right now. She didn't want to scare him away with it all.

Emilio nodded. He would certainly try to get some sleep. Naturally, he was almost afraid to sleep and have this night ruined by a bad dream or a vision.
But the heavy hand of sleep was leading him away even as he stood there.
He was very awake, though, when Amy stole a kiss.
Emilio couldn't keep the grin off of his face. It was silly-looking, he knew, but at least he matched Amy's blush now.
He relinquished one hand's hold on her lower back to lightly caress one of her cheeks. Her skin was so light compared to his...
With a sigh, he let her go all the way. He knew Caroline would be annoyed with him for just this much. But it was all worth it. On second thought, he closed the gap between them and kissed her back.
He wondered if he could control himself enough to let her go get some sleep. Emilio knew that Amy could probably banish him with a word and call him back again with a glance.

Amorina decided that making him grin like that was the best accomplishment of her life. For somebody older than her, who, in her opinion, should have a lot of experience with woman, she would think it would be harder to get him to grin like that. It wsa the way she grinned when something (or someone) gave her butterflies; to be able to give them to somebody else made her feel extremely good.
Tilting her face towards his hand, she smiled gently. He was such the opposite of Kenric. Dark, warm, compassionate, and he kept her wanting. Kenny had been too easy in letting her get what she wanted unless his fear took over him. Emilio had something that made him hold back, something she loved. It made her fight more, but every reward she got was worth the fight.
When he let her go, she looked at him worriedly. The sigh was what worried her. About to ask what was wrong, she felt those small bumps rise on her body when he kissed her. Amorina felt a small shudder shoot through her, but she just let it go. She couldn't be held responsible for her body at the moment.
Gently, though, she pulled away from him and smiled. "You have to sleep,"she muttered, toying with his hair. "You'll be exhausted tomorrow." Every inch of her longed for her to kiss him again; she didn't want the rest of the weekend to be wasted on one night. She had the whole night to think about what she would do tomorrow, anyway.

Emilio felt her shudder. It worked strange things in him, but he didn't get a chance to follow those peculiar electrical sensations back to their source before she pulled away this time.
Her hand felt so good in his hair, but he couldn't help but pout at what she was saying. It was so awful- to have her so near and yet be unable to see her.
Emilio nodded, though and put a little more distance between their bodies. Reluctantly, he turned and headed to his own apartment. With every step, he felt an almost-gravitational pull to her grow stronger. He glanced over his shoulder and gave her a half-smile. If he had any control over his dreams, he knew exactly what he wanted to dream about... who he wanted to dream about.
"Goodnight!" he called.

Her body screamed at her, but her mind screamed back. Amy knew she was doing the right thing tonight. His pout had made her regret telling him good-night, and yet she felt somewhat empowered. Even though he didn't want to leave, she kind of made him. Cool. Being able to control guys was easier done than said.
"Good night." Amorina gave Emilio a large smile, knowing that he shouldn't be that upset. It would only be a few quick hours before they saw each other again.
Slowly opening the door to Caroline's apartment, she peeked in with a large smile. "I think this weekend is going to be good." Amy quietly closed the door behind her and walked towards her bag to grab her pajamas. "Thanks for letting me sleep over."
Using the bathroom to change into a large tank top and sweatpants, she walked back towards the couch bed but turned and gave Caroline a hug.
"Thank you again. I hope you're enjoying yourself too. You deserve it."
Crawling into the couch/bed, Amy snuggled up to a pillow and waited for Caroline to fall asleep so she could write in her journal. She didn't want her friend to stay up until she was asleep. Caroline wouldn't sleep, then.
[TIMELEAP!]
It had to have been around two, if not three. With her head on the back of the couch, her legs splayed infront of her, her eyes heavy, Amy tried to sleep. It felt good to relax, but her mind needed sleep. Everytime she tried, she was jolted back by that memory. The memory of a contorted, screaming face hungry for her blood, for her death.
She knew she probably looked a wreck, her hair messy from her trying to sleep, her make-up washed off before she fell asleep, her large clothes making her look small. As comfortable as she might have been, Amorina was still terrified of the night. She had doodled in her journal, written in it, read and re-read it, picked lint off of her, thought about random questions that popped into her head, anything to help her sleep.
It was the same thought that kept her from enjoying her sleep.

Emilio went back to his place and tried to sleep.
Hours later, he felt haunted. It must have been a bad dream- it felt like a vision, but it was so far-fetched even Emilio had trouble believing it.
He turned on all the lights in his apartment, but he couldn't escape the images that flashed in front of his eyes. It was with the stumbling, unsteady gait of a sleepwalker that he left his apartment and headed to his only other refuge. Caroline usually talked him down when all of this happened. She would make him a cup of chamomile tea and tell him fairy tales or lighthearted things until he calmed down enough to listen.
He was dressed in a pair of boxers and the night air was cool- it only added to ashen tone his skin had taken. He knocked on Caroline's door, not remembering much for the time being. It had slipped his mind that Caroline had company- company he honestly didn't want to see this side of him.
Emilio muttered to himself periodically, as though reasserting what he'd seen. Or repeating the words he heard.
---
Caroline had allowed herself to fall asleep quickly. She, however, was a very light sleeper (habit from a bad past) and woke up immediately when her brother knocked. She groaned, embarrassed for him that he should have one of his nightmares while Amy was staying over.
She slowly unfolded herself out of her bed and sat there for a moment. Should she let him in? If she did, he would most certainly turn on all of the lights in the place and she'd have to get out the kettle. It wouldn't be fair for Amy.
Finally, she decided that he needed to go back to his own apartment. She rose to her feet, determination on her face.

With her head against the back of the couch, looking up at the ceiling and thinking about how long the building had been there. It couldn't be long; she'd say about thirty some years? Possibly more, considering how old the Academy was. She had always been bad with ages of buildings anyway.
The longer she stayed up, the more frustrated she became. All she wanted to do was relax and fall asleep. At least when she did sleep, it was usually a deep sleep that she could take comfort in. Though the sleep was deep, Amy woke up to every little noise, frightened that it could be the vampire again. He had stolen every little thing from her to the point where she felt like a vampire herself. Sleeping through the day and staying up all night.
A knock on the door? So late? Amy's body stiffened defensively as she looked at the door until Caroline woke up. "Is everything okay?" She didn't bother hiding the fear in her voice; she sat up, as awake as ever, her eyes never leaving the door.
She felt like a child, asking Mommy to check behind the closet and under the bed. There weren't supposed to be any monsters once you hit a certain age. Amy's anger and frustration merely grew in the part of her heart that had held Kenric so close. Not only had he stolen her sleep, her comfort, but also her confidence in people. Amorina knew one thing she would be buying soon; either a gun or a knife.

Caroline nodded as she passed through that room to get to the front door. "It's alright. I'll tell him to go away. Emilio.... comes here when he gets a little crazy. There's nothing to worry about." She glanced at Amy, feeling bad for her. It was only natural for such an occurence to frighten a person. Most people, apart from those dating denizens of the dark, do not get visits at this time.
She unlocked the door and opened it. There was her brother, looking as though he had seen a ghost and muttering as though he was still seeing it. Well, a protectiveness came over her and all thought of making her brother take care of this problem by himself fled her mind.
She frowned and pulled him into the apartment. "Amy, if you want to get some sleep, you can take my room."
With that, she led her brother into the kitchenette (he turned on lights as he passed lightswitches- it was instinct rather than rational decision making) and made him sit down at the counter. She would have been embarrassed by his lack of clothing, but she knew he wouldn't have cared even if he was in his right mind.
Caroline filled her teakettle and placed it on the stove to boil. Meanwhile, Emilio seemed stuck in his own little world, staring off into space and at random moments muttering frantically in Spanish.

When he got crazy? It seemed like something to worry about. Amy knew she must havev seemed crazy with the no-sleeping business, but something seemed crazier with him. Maybe it was part of his gift, part of what he could do. Still, knowing it was just Emilio made her body relax immensly. Knowing she looked a wreck didn't bother her as much as she thought it might. Instead, she just ruffled her own hair and watched Caroline usher Emilio into the kitchen.
Wow. She felt a little too over-dressed for this party. He didn't seem to be in the right state of mind, muttering and not taking anything in. It made her worry.
A thought struck her. If it was something to do with his power, she could fix it. She could make it go away.
Amorina slowly krept from the couch-bed, wavering at the doorway where they were. She'd have to talk to Caroline about it first, just to know if it would work.

Caroline took out a couple of mugs and glanced at the doorway that Amy occupied. "Would you like some? Seeing as I'm already boiling water..."
Emilio glanced up at her voice, but he still retained the lost-child-beset-by-shadow-monsters look. And Caroline knew that he was just reacting to the sound, like a blind man.
She pulled out her tea stores, plus an unopened container of instant coffee (Caroline only had this for guests... she didn't drink coffee and Emilio preferred the Cuban brand he brought with him). There was loose tea, tea bags, in many flavors. She also took out a jar of honey. Caroline knew what kind of tea she would be giving her brother, but she was still deciding what kind she wanted.
Emilio startled her by gasping and knocking the closest mug off of the counter. He fell out of his chair and backed up until his back was pressed against one of the cabinets.
Caroline dropped to her knees and quickly swept the shards of ceramic away from her brother. "Amy... I know this is a lot to ask of you... but can you-?" She didn't finish her sentence and nodded towards her brother. Caroline wasn't thinking of Amy's power, but of another pair of hands to maybe keep him from doing something stupid.

Politely shaking her head "No,"Amorina glanced at Emilio. He didn't seem like the same person, the shell of somebody she knew; it frightened her but made her worry more. There was something scary abut him not being there, with her knowing that at this time, anything could happen to them.
The breaking cup made her jump, and she nodded at Caroline. Considering she was already close to him, and she didn't know how he woud react to her gift, Amy didn't have to concentrate much until she felt the familiar tingles of arenaline pulse through her.
Slowly, she took a step into the kitchen, closer to him. From his reaction to nothing, she wasn't sure how he would react to her. Instead, Amorina gently flexed her fingers, directing her energy to him before she took another step towards him. She didn't want to frighten him.
