The marketplace out of all places on the island that Cade had seen reminded him the most of home. Some days he liked the feeling because of the nostalgia and others he didn’t because of what that same nostalgia meant to him. It was usually buzzing with the most inhabitants that the island could offer in a single area and most of the items that were being sold seemed seedy. Though, the goal of the day wasn’t to reminisce, Cade wouldn’t have even left the school if that was the purpose. No, Jenna had left a note that only specified to meet her at the marketplace, luckily for her a call in the right direction was all the reason he needed to seek her out once more.
Cade could felt the salt used to melt away the snow and the ice crunch underneath his feet as he stepped upon the brick flooring of the area. The market was a big place, where exactly Jenna wanted to meet seemed fairly vague, but then again her wings were definitely towering enough for him to spot them in a crowd. No such luck yet, but he couldn’t expect to spot them as soon as he approached the scene.
Entering the crowds wasn’t the hard part, staying in unison with them in order to avoid bumping shoulders with everyone he passed was. Eventually, he collided with a quivering and dirty looking young man. “Ex-cuse me sir, y-you have any change?” the teenage looking man whined. “Err, no I don’t have my wallet on me” Cade spoke with little fluctuation in his voice and not bothering to check if he actually had anything on him. “You’ll find your way, don’t worry” he continued trying to avoid too much eye contact with the beggar and eventually broke free from the crowd. “Fuck you too…” the beggar whispered as his face grew snidely as he disappeared into the crowd.

Jenna was standing close to some fruit vendors, the sellers themselves not really benefiting that much during the winter season thanks to most of their stock getting frozen. Lucky for her Jenna was able to find someone selling a good batch of apples and promptly seized the opportunity to buy them. It had been a few days since she had met up with Nikolai and she figured now was a good time as ever too talk with Cade. After all since she planned on staying on this island, it was unlikely that she could avoid him forever.
Moving her wings close to her body to help block the wind rushing through the marketplace to chill the people shopping, Jenna shivered slightly despite protecting herself from the majority of the wind. Dressed in warm winter wear, her clothing today seemed a little awkwardly worn - as if she almost had trouble putting her clothes on with her wings.

After losing the assumingly homeless beggar, Cade was met with a lesser busy area of the market. Well, it was either the larger size of the place or there were just less people around, Cade couldn’t decide which, but either or didn’t matter to him once he spotted his companion’s most notable feature. Cade just hoped he didn’t just so happen to stumble across the only other winged female on the island as he made a b-line toward her position.
He began to fix his regular attire as he walked making sure everything was where it was supposed to be. Sure his long sleeved shirt and vest combo probably wasn’t the best to combat the cold winds of winter, but having endured the harsher winters of Canada for a good majority of his life he could survive through worse. That being said though, the chill of the wind was still uncomfortably cold and he probably should have worn a jacket instead of scoffing at what the locals called a freezing temperature.
“I must say I love the way you relay messages, no specified time and no specific place just a general area. I’m sure you’re a hard person to get a hold of” Cade jested ending with a slight chatter of his teeth. “Next time I’ll send you a message saying ‘Meet me at the school, good luck finding me’”

As Cade walked up to her, Jenna offered up a small smile - briefly giggling at his comment. "I'm sorry, I forget people during this age prefer such specification. I will try to be more precise next time." It had always been a bit of challenge for Jenna to keep up with the changing times and she found it easier to keep up with socializing. Grabbing an apple out the bag she was holding, the sylph offered it to Cade with yet another charming smile. "Would you like one? Fruit will be rare for a few months."
The small talk made Jenna feel slightly comfortable, avoiding the real issue at hand - having not completely resolved it that last time the two had talked. As she watched the teacher, the wind around them picked up once more and Jenna felt something wet on her cheek. Reaching up to wipe her cheek, the sylph soon realized that a flurry was happening. "We should probably find some place inside to talk," Jenna said to Cade in a concerned manner.
[ooc; I hope I used the term flurry correctly. T_T I was just wanting... light snow to be happening. ]

As of late, Cade always had a strange feeling when talking with Jenna. She was so easy to talk with, yet something in his brain felt like continuously bringing up the reason they’d hardly seen each other. While he had no problem bringing it up and wanting to discuss/argue over it, the past had shown Jenna having no issue with walking out on him without answer. Whether or not Cade was ready to talk about it didn’t matter, Jenna had to regardless of his choice on the matter.
“I guess that explains why people were so unorganized back in the day…” Cade commented, though not expecting to expand too much on that thought. Returning a grin to the winged woman he answered “eh, an apple a day, why not. Though, I don’t really have a place to put it.” He shrugged as he searched his relatively pocket-less outfit and the one’s he did were definitely too small for an apple.
It wasn’t long for Cade to notice the light amount of snow drifting his way either. Luckily that gave him another excuse to find refuge indoors, he wasn’t going to admit he was cold. His eyes peered over to the nearby buildings to check their options. “So, what’ll it be, shoe store, restaurant, or keep walking?” he quizzed with a quirk of his brow.

Jenna snorted at Cade's comment of people being unorganized so long ago. "That is one way of looking at it," she responded to him easily - looking up in the sky as the snow continued to fall. At his willingness to take the apple she offered, the sylph smiled pleasantly. Confrontation was usually something the air fairy tried to avoid, but the more time she spent around Cade the more she felt she was going to have to explain herself to him. As her attention drifted away and then snapped back to Cade once more at his question, Jenna glanced around at her options.
She didn't necessarily want to go back to the tavern quite yet, and the shoe store seemed like a safe and platonic place to be - but the restaurant looked to be a lot more relaxing since they would most likely be talking for quite awhile. Jenna stared at the restaurant during this thought process, looking quite troubled at the decision she would have to make at some point. Despite having just bought some apples, Jenna pointed at the resturant with a sigh. "Let's go in there, they will probably let us stay longer than the shoe store will," she said to Cade with what almost seemed like a hesitant tone.
It was a strange thing to notice, but it was almost like the sylph had grown to be just a bit shy around Cade after their kiss. Her natural personality was still there, but when it came to the idea of having alone time with the man next to her - the thought made a blush rise to her cheeks. The sensation was strange to her, since she couldn't remember the last time anything really made her embarrassed at all.

Cade was glad with the decision made, he had nothing against shoes but having them as a backdrop for some alone time with Jenna didn’t seem as appealing. Though, that would mean a waiter would interrupt their conversation every now and again and if his winged companion decided to fly out the window again he’d be stuck with the bill. As long as she didn’t pick out the expensive meals, he supposed he could live with it if the occasion were to happen. That is if they were going to eat there.
“Good, good, never been to it, but hopefully it’ll be one of those ‘hidden gem’ sort of places” he spoke in an oddly optimistic tone of voice. With that, two wandered over to their choice of destination. Luckily, there wasn’t much of a line nor was it too busy, maybe one or two other couples around, but not enough to make it a loud atmosphere. The couple were directed to a booth seating and had paper menus placed in front of them displaying how small the restaurant was in the community. Cade sort of enjoyed its more homey type feel to it, but that was beside the point.
He leaned his elbow against the table, unsure of what to say for once in his life. His eyes detracted from Jenna every now and again. He sniffed the air for a brief moment. “Well, I’ll give this place one thing, it smells better than a shoe store.”

Jenna's steps were light as she walked into the restaurant with Cade. She also kept her wings folded close to her body, so as to not have them accidentally bump into anyone. The restaurant itself most definitely did not cater to the amount of space that Jenna took up in a building with her wings. As they sat down though, the sylph found it easier to adjust - glancing down at the menu for just a few seconds before bringing her attention back up toward Cade. "It'll probably taste better too," Jenna blurted out with a smile - the awkward and corny line even catching herself off guard. What was with this sudden lack of social behavior. The fairy was not feeling herself and the discomfort at this thought showed quite obviously on her face.
Attempting to shake herself out of it, Jenna started to try and feel more like herself again - moving her left foot near Cade's in an attempt to play footsie. The action itself made her feel normal once more, causing a content smile to drift back onto the sylph's face. "I'm sorry I've been avoiding you so much," Jenna started off slowly - looking as if she were considering her words carefully.

Cade couldn’t help but to laugh under his breath from Jenna’s returned zinger. The sudden movement of the winged woman’s foot quirked Cade’s brow, though he returned a slight tap of his own foot after he was quick to catch on to what she was doing. He wondered for a moment or two if she was alive when the term footsie was created, given her age and how she acted she could’ve very well have been the person to invent it.
With the woman’s next statement, Cade sighed a bit. As much as he could blame her for their separation within the last couple weeks, his instigating probably didn’t help much. He could play the blame game, but really where would that get him? “You don’t make being upset with you very easy, you know that?” he offhandedly stated rubbing the bridge of his nose slightly. “As long as you got done whatever it was you needed to get done, how about we set that aside for now and just have a nice chat that doesn’t end with someone flying out the window?” he proposed to the woman, very neutral in tone. He would like nothing more than to instigate something that didn’t involve himself, but maybe he could wait to do that until the end, ease his way into it.

Jenna smiled easily as Cade spoke, nodding as he made a gesture of being stressed. "The longer you live the more you learn," the statement itself seemed very ambiguous of the sylph - but she let the words hang in the air for a little while longer before changing the subject. Instead the sylph glanced in the direction of some windows, noticing that the snow outside seemed a lot more significant and people were starting to move in doors. Turning back to Cade, Jenna went back to running her foot up and down Cade's calf - one her fingers naturally starting to curl her hair as she watched the man before her. Jenna often found it easy to forget she was immortal in simple settings such as this, the fairy found herself relaxing which in turn made her wings seem much more lax and less protective of her body then they had been before.
"What would you like to talk about?" Jenna then asked Cade, quickly forgetting that she had been the one to call him out to meet with her instead of vice versa. Nonetheless, Jenna held an innocent expression on her face patiently waiting for him to initiate some sort of conversation with her.

Cade found it strange that Jenna seemed to have no plan for the day considering she had chosen it. Whenever there was some sort of decision to be made she had to run it through him first. He expected she wanted to talk to him about something, but he guessed that when he asked to change the subject he might have debunked anything she wanted to talk about. Instead, she continued to recite fortune cookies and play around with his legs. He just left his lower limbs stiff and let her do as she pleased with them.
“Hm, no better way to put someone on the spot than with that question” he thought aloud. His eyes wandered over to the window for a brief moment, but he didn’t think much of the change in weather at least not yet. Though something he briefly mentioned at the tail end of their last conversation was quick to spring back into his mind. He wasn’t quite sure if he should talk about it, but he said he would if she was interested.
“Oh right, I promised to elaborate more on who my father was last we spoke. It almost slipped my mind. It’s sort of a long story to get into, but we do have some time to kill” his eyes shifted around the room subtly for a moment. “But, um, for the sake of both of us, you should probably keep it to yourself” he spoke in a noticeably lower tone.

Jenna briefly watched Cade as he thought out-loud, her attention slowly drifting down to the menu before her. The longer she stayed with Cade in this restaurant, the more the smell of food made the woman's stomach growl. As he mentioned his father though, Jenna nodded and returned her attention back to Cade - looking quite intent on focusing on just him. "I won't tell a soul," she promised him with a very small flirtatious wink. He had seemed to make the situation so serious that Jenna couldn't help but break the tension just a tiny bit.
"I'll let you know if you tell me anything surprising though," Jenna suddenly added - running her left hand through her hair as she seemed to be a little bit annoyed with little bits of her hair getting into her face every now and then.

Cade couldn’t really gauge how much he could take Jenna’s word, but he felt it would be safe enough. He wasn’t planning on revealing his old surname or anything so there was nothing to really fear as long as no one could link him back to Lesang. Given the odds, it was highly unlikely that anyone in the restaurant just so happened to be where he grew up during the same time. His eyes glanced at his menu one more time to reassure his order before he forgot then they were very attentive on Jenna. It was probably the first time he’d ever spoken about his past in detail on the island to anyone, but he wasn’t necessarily nervous about it.
“Alright then. As I said before, my father was a big figure where I grew up. Reason being, he was the leader of one of the largest crime syndicates in all of Ontario, hell nearly the biggest in Canada. Now, regardless of how that sounds, he could’ve went toe to toe with any United States mafia, but he was smart not to. His organization mostly specialized in smuggling, though dabbled in just about everything else. Any type of contraband, you name it, he’ll get it across the border for a price. He had plenty of competitors as well, which is why when I was young life was quite dangerous for me. Had a lot of close calls that’s for sure, the story I told you about one of my past girlfriends was just scratching the surface. Though some seem a bit more comical now a days than others” his gaze became unfocused as his mind drifted off into reminiscence.

Jenna listened intently to Cade as he started to tell her more about his past. Her eyebrows rose just a bit as he revealed where he was originally from. It wasn't so surprising though that she felt the need to say something. Instead as Cade explained his father more to her, Jenna laid one her hands against her cheek to lean on. She noticed the expression on face, feeling equally sentimental about her pirate days. Realizing that was just a bit different though, Jenna shook herself out of it and continued to listen.
"How long ago was this?" she asked Cade then, briefly realizing that she didn't know his age. It wasn't like it concerned her that much though. The saying that age was just a number seemed to apply to her along with a few other immortals. "Do you know how he got into all of this?" it seemed a strange question to ask, since Jenna felt like she pretty much already knew the answer. It was just a matter of life decisions that the sylph was all too familiar with.

Just by merely speaking of his past, memories flooded through his mind. Some memories better than others. Despite what he had learned later on, he couldn’t say that he didn’t have a good time when he was young. It was definitely outside of what most preteens would’ve done, most probably didn’t even know the names of the drugs he’d done or that they even existed. Some might say that such drugs would be highly unhealthy for someone as young as he was and Cade wouldn’t disagree, he just didn’t know better. It could’ve been way worse, he could’ve continued his addiction through high school but he didn’t. Those years were absolute hell nonetheless.
Cade attention was brought back to the present as Jenna asked another question. He wasn’t quite sure how to answer by her phrasing. “It was probably over ten years ago by now, I don’t really keep track. I had to quit that lifestyle as soon as I was able to take care of myself. Came to Foresta for a number of years” he answered quickly after his thoughts were collected. Thinking over it, he realised he probably owed the school more than he had previously thought. Without the place, he probably would have died or continued being a drug junkie, what a dark path that would’ve been for him.
“My father? I was never old enough to question things like that, how or why he was interested in drug smuggling he either never told me or I just can’t remember” drug abuse also didn’t do many wonders on his memory. “He wasn’t a bad man though, he just did what he could do to make a living” he said with a bit of a smirk. Despite what Cade had known about his dad, he never had the heart to ever say he was a horrible human being. Even if he wasn’t even his biological father.
