The Day at the Tavern -Dead-

“Ah, yes, I can imagine.” Kadira mused, though that was a bit of a lie. She had no idea how difficult making friends could be, seeing as she more often than not opted out of making them. She found it odd that neither of them had introduced themselves, but like hell she was going to pipe up first. If he wanted to know the name of the girl that saved his butt back there, he could ask.
She looked up, seeing why he had stopped. A fork in the road eh? Well, it was up to her to choose, she guessed. The one on the left looked like it looped back around to the tavern after taking you by some smaller shops and the port. Yeah, that one was probably not the best of ideas. She was pretty sure her magic had worn off on the door by now. The middle road didn’t look too interesting, but it looked like the right one looked promising. It went right past some shops that probably got overlooked being so close to the market. Little shops like those always had the most interesting nick knacks.
Right it was, Kadira took the road, resuming her humming. She wondered if the boy would follow her, and to be honest she wasn’t sure how she felt about that. Part of her wanted him to follow, but part of her didn’t. When had things gotten so confusing? When she got back to the school, she’s have to isolate herself and think long and hard about this one.

The boy watched her choose her road, staring in thought. His head looked forward, and scanned the east and north roads once more. What Kadira had seen, he too saw, and shortly began to think even more. He was thinking to the point where his brain began to ache, so he took a chance and shrugged, running after the girl. Once he caught up to her, he walked behind her in a reasonable distance.
"So, what's your name? I don't think we've talked about that properly yet," questioned Erich, whom was going to ask her name anyways; he had just forgotten at the time. His head tilted as he peered through her shoulder to look at her cheek, which peaked back out to him from her black hair. He waited patiently for an answer, occupied only by the continuous humming she had brought up again.

“Kadira, and you are?” she asked in return. She wondered if she should have given him a false name. Why was she so back and forth on this whole thing? Maybe it was because she was back in a community of sorts. Whatever the case, she needed to make up her mind, and fast. This flip flopping was giving her a headache.
She looked over her shoulder at him, waiting for his answer. She noticed him staring at her and she turned back around and flushed. She was sure anyone, djinn, human or otherwise, would be uncomfortable with having someone staring at them. To distract herself, she wondered at the boy’s power again. He had said he was just about to use it before she had interrupted, but for some reason, she had a hard time believing that. Kadira considered asking him what it was that he could do exactly, but decided against it. No matter how curious she was, he was going to ask about her power in return, she was sure. There was no way she was going to tell him, and that was final. Still, she couldn’t help but speculate.
As she waited for his answer, she slowed her pace. They were passing the smaller shops now, and she wanted to window shop. If he didn’t like her slowed pace then he could pass her. It wouldn’t bother her any, she was insisting on the idea that she wasn’t following him around. Come to think of it, he was following her now, seeing as how she had chosen this way, not him.

"Erich. Nice to meet you," nodded Erich. "Your name reminds me of a cat or a snake. Or maybe some Arabian woman; not really sure. What were your parents thinking when they gave you your name?" He was asking this out of pure curiousity, and from a lack of thinking when he asked this. He wasn't trying to learn from her personal information, or try to learn anything about her at the moment, but the question had just dawned on him; it eventually got free from the prison of his brain and escaped through the exit of his lips, now free and fluttering into Kadira's ears--possibly, if she was listening.
Erich had noticed her cheek becoming a bright red suddenly, making him chuckle under his breath. Personally and mentally, he apologized for making her uncomfortable because of his stare; physically, he enjoyed making girls go a crimson red. He never understood why girls never felt normal when a boy is simply staring at them for no concerned reason, thinking they like them or something from a distance. He'd need a detailed explanation for this.
Before Kadira even caught interest of the smaller shops, Erich had reacted first and was scanning every window possible, his feet slower than Kadira's own--to the point where he'd stop walking completely. Many of the ancient antiques had crossed paths with his mind, taking him away into a world of fantasy and imagination. He suddenly had an urge to use his power, for his left index finger was tapping his side unintentionally. Mentally, his brain was only concentrated on the many windows, and did not care about anything surrounding him--or his body.

Kadira stiffened at the mention of her parents, but she quickly got over that. He didn’t know she hated them so, nor would he. His naiveté made her chuckle though. “It’s Egyptian, actually. I was born and raised there.” As if the accent didn’t give it away, but she said nothing regarding this. It was silly; every American just assumed everyone else was American. She’d never understand it. Back in Egypt, a foreigner could be spotted in half a second.
With a sigh, Kadira reluctantly acknowledged that she had revealed too much information. She always got overly zealous about her native country. She loved it there, but she refused to go back. As soon as she set foot on the soil over there, her mother would find her. There was no way she was having that. And her father, well actually, come to think of it, her mother probably went after him. The gross abuse of a djinn’s power (especially your daughter’s) was frowned upon. Her father would have been punished; he was probably dead. Surprisingly, the thought brought on no pang of sorrow like it should have.
With a quick shake of her head to get rid of all the thoughts cluttering her mind, she looked over her shoulder again. She saw that the boy, Erich, had stopped. His expression, she noted, seemed pretty vacant, and she wondered what was going on in his head. She halted her own steps and turned completely. To anyone just passing by, he would simply look like he was window shopping. She, however, saw that blank stare. She wondered if it had anything to do with his power. She was tempted to ask if he was alright, but decided on waiting a few seconds more just to see where this went.

Erich had been listening to the girl, yet her words ventured through temporary hollowed holes and an empty brain which had no concentration at all. Now the windows had no interest to him, since he had gotten all of the area's windows into mental check, yet he seemed pretty occupied--in a dead zombie way. His same left hand had begun to tremble in an unknown reaction to his condition, trying to activate his power on his own. Erich's urge was getting out of control from this temporary state of blankness, and from the sudden remembrance of the sailors back at the bar. He wasn't himself at the moment--it was odd for him.
Luckily, he had managed to snap out of it before something weird would happen. He tightly closed his eyes, and his hand had stopped trembling, rubbing his eyes to support his eyes in a chance gain good sighting once more. Like a machine that had been turned back on after a long status of hiatus, his brain began to get bloodflow and run smoothly, trying to figure out what had happened. Erich blinked twice, looked around, then turned to Kadira. "What happened..?" he questioned, giving off a puzzled expression. He hoped she knew.

The more she watched him stare in blankness, the more Kadira knew something was wrong. She wasn’t sure what just yet, but something was wrong. But then, just as quickly as he had fallen into his little trance, he snapped back out of it. He seemed just as confused and taken aback by his zombie like state as she did. So whatever had been happening, he hadn’t been planning on it. That was somehow comforting and frightening at the same time.
“I’m not sure. You were looking in the window, and then got a really blank, vacant expression on your face. It was like you were a zombie…” she mused, using the zombie analogy again. She took a step closer, cautiously though. If whatever happened had something to do with his power, she didn’t want to be too close, in case it happened again.
“Was that… Did that have something to do with your power?” she asked, despite yourself. She just couldn’t contain her curiosity anymore. The question just sort of slipped. If he asked anything about her power back, she’d just have to be rude about it. There was no way around it. Now that she thought about it though, she could tell him without screwing herself over. If she left out the ‘trigger words’ or whatever you wanted to call them, then he couldn’t really do anything with the knowledge. She still wouldn’t tell him, she decided. It was as simple as that.

"That's weird...a zombie state...reminds me of Arthas," Erich glanced at the sky, letting out a hesitant laugh from the thought. Apparently, talking about zombies wasn't a good thing. He looked back down at Kadira, then continued, "That's not a good thing then, to sound like a zombie. Something's not right with me right now.." His head turned away, his right hand rubbing his forehead with its full palm. His forehead felt warm from the sudden awaken of the dull condition he was in, giving off a warning that he'd get a headache soon. He groaned grudgingly.
"I guess it did...all I remember is thinking about the sailors. I really don't understand why though.." Erich replied to her question, slowly closing his eyes as he began to walk. He did not want to stay in this area for long, and already felt a bad cloud about it. He did not care whether or not Kadira followed, yet he would appreciate it if she did; he'd like someone to help him out in his current uneasy state. [/size]

Reminds him of Arthas? What the hell was he talking about? Was he delusional now? He seemed coherent enough, and he didn’t say anything more on it, so Kadira let it slide as a temporary moment of lunacy. “Well, you were angry with them.” She mused. “Perhaps the anger triggered it?” she finished with a shrug. It was a haphazard guess and she was only trying to help. There was much she could do without actually knowing what his power was.
“Perhaps we should get you back to the school?” she queried. If this wasn’t normal for him, then maybe they shouldn’t be here, in the village, with people everywhere. Especially if his power ended up being something destructive. She trudged along behind him, still keeping a safe distance. She had been planning on not following him around all day, but she sort of felt a duty to help him out. She couldn’t explain why. She guessed that it had something to do with helping him out with the sailors back at the tavern. She helped him there, and now she had to see the whole thing through, and make sure he got back to the school safely. That, and she wanted to make sure that if something did go wrong and his power was let loose, she wanted to prevent damage and destruction to the village.

"I guess. I'll eventually have to let it go, anyways; personally, I care 'bout nothing that deals with revenge. You may find that hard to believe, since you've been witnessing me trying to kill those guys." Erich seemed satisfied saying that, yet deep inside, he regretted even thinking about that. It was evident from the way he began to slowly shake his head at the ground, letting how a warmly-heated sigh that burnt his nose a little. He dug his right hand into his hair, looking up to the sky; he wanted something to distract him, until he could calm down.
Fortunately, that last question dug straight into him. "No way, not yet. I don't want to get in trouble, honestly, but I'm okay now. I promise not to lose control or get angry again. Actually, it's not like Arthas or Shiva would kill someone just because of anger.." he grumbled the last sentence under his breath, mostly talking to himself. He froze, then turned back to Kadira. "You probably think I'm weird, don't you?" he asked out of curiousity, seeing as how he only gave her small details of the truth. Personally he was hoping he didn't have to explain himself, or his power, to the girl. He still did not know hers, so it's not really fair.
As he waited for her answer, his arms folded across his chest and turned its body in all directions, scanning the civilians that passed by. They appeared to be ordinary people, none that seemed to resemble the sailors back at the tavern. They must have already gotten free from the locked door, and possibly searching for the two, so he wanted to get as far away from this area as possible; staying on this part of the path will only have them discovered.

Kill? Had he said kill? Perhaps she had made a mistake when she helped him, maybe it had been the sailors that would have needed saving from him. She pushed the idea out of her mind, he seemed nice enough. He didn’t even look dangerous; perhaps he was just over exaggerating. Yes, she told herself that’s what it was. “Alright, if you say so.” After a moment of thought she added, “But if I see one sign of you going zombie again, then I’m dragging you back to the school myself.” She felt that was a fair trade off.
“Weird, no, crazy, maybe.” She said as a joke, mostly. Kadira wasn’t quite sure how much of it was a joke, and how much of it wasn’t herself. “Well, uh, lead the way.” She motioned for him to continue walking. Personally, she wanted to leave, but she’d follow him, if only to make sure he didn’t get into any more trouble. Or hurt anyone, but she was still having a hard time believing he even could. He was tall sure, but wiry.
Kadira noted that he seemed a bit jumpy, or perhaps nervous. Maybe he thought the sailors were looking for them. They probably were, now that she thought of it. So then, why did he want to stay here if he knew he was being looked for? Did he want to start another fight?

"Alright, you do that," Erich nodded to her first statement, and began to walk on as she insisted. She must have seen how cautious he became as he had looked at everyone, and remembered how she joked about him being crazy. Mentally he agreed with her, thinking he's lost all signs of being sane. He sighed lightly, wishing he could go back in time and try to stop himself from getting any bad thoughts in the bar. Unfortunately, he couldn't, which disappointed himself that he only that the crappy power of summoning video game characters that always scolded and ranted on him randomly.
"Listen, I really think you shouldn't stay around me for long. It won't be long until those sailors find me, and I'm sure you want to leave me alone and go away anyways." He peered behind his shoulder, then looked forward once more.

Kadira stared down at her feet, as she meandered behind Erich. “If I leave you alone and those sailors come back, who’ll save your sorry butt? Or maybe theirs.” She mused, still only half joking. She wasn’t sure what to think of this boy anymore. At first, she had thought he was weak, and couldn’t defend himself. Now she was beginning to think he was a little bit off his rocker. Perhaps she was being too hasty in judging him; this could all have something to do with his powers. It could be one of those things that didn’t make any sense until you knew the whole story.
Did she want to know the whole story? Did she want to know what his power was? Well, she was very curious about it. She couldn’t take it, she was just going to break down and ask. “Um, if you don’t mind me asking, what is it you do exactly? Maybe this’ll make more sense if you tell me.” She immediately regretted asking so she hastily added, “You don’t have to tell me.” If he didn’t tell her, then he couldn’t ask about hers in return.

The boy stopped in his tracks, hearing running feet behind the two. He turned halfway, seeing a crowd of the sailors from earlier, wielding bats and broken bottles. Erich's eyes narrowed, sighing lightly; he was hoping he wouldn't come to this. "You're about to see soon enough.." he replied to Kadira, walking past her by five steps. The sailors slowed to a stop, seeing as Erich had approached them. They began to laugh and talk amongst each other, smacking their bats apon their opposite palms. Soon, they all began to charge at the teenager.
Erich's right hand motioning went like this: five, three, four, two, fist, three, one. It was as if he was encoding a video game cheat code into the air. He launched the same hand at the sailors in a force palm manner. "Light Warrior Arthas!" he shouted, and a white aura outlined the boy's body. Using his arm as an exit, the white aura launched a beam shaped like a largely-armored human being, whom had drawn out a white sword. The being landed on the ground, and became a real-life human; he was Arthas the Paladin from World of Warcraft. Erich's aura vanished, and he slowly dropped his hand with a grin.
The sailors had stopped in their tracks with fear when they saw Erich's white aura. Now that they had a knight of Light energy in front of them, they ran off in total fear.

“Will I?” Kadira asked in surprise. No sooner as she had said that did she see that sailors. Great, she thought darkly, though not sure what to do. She was practically useless without her magic, and since no one needed help, there was nothing she could do. Erich clearly didn’t need any assistance; he seemed to be handling himself just fine. Eying the bats and broken bottles, she took a wary step back. If Erich was going to do something, he’d better hurry up and do it.
Kadira’s eyes widened as a white aura that had been outlining suddenly left him and became a person. A pretty fierce looking person at that. So, he summoned people? She chuckled slightly as the sailors ran, screaming like little girls the whole way. She wanted to go up to Erich and talk to him about this, but the… Person stood in between them, and there was no way she was walking by that thing. “That was, uh, interesting…” she called over to him, though fearful that the person he summoned would turn on her.
