Jack yawned lazily and plopped down onto a bar stool. "Jack Daniels," Jack said roughly to the bartender. It seemed like every single time he ate someone, Jack always needed a drink right after. Most people wouldn't suspect it, but after awhile it's torturing and annoying hearing people scream.
As the bartender slid his drink down to him, Jack took a slow slip of the alcohol. For years, Jack had always wondered to himself why he bothered to stay young. Why couldn't he just get old? Well many reasons, but he didn't like thinking about it for too long. Yawning again, Jack flipped his collar up against a draft that seemed to blow into the bar as the door was opened. He hated the cold, and yet it was so accustomed to him.

Lian was tired, she was cold, and she was hungry- about damn time she got to the Tavern. She heard about this place when she first arrived here as she was planning on having lunch here before she moved into her new place. That never happened as the principal had her come in for an emergency briefing. Naturally it pissed her off, yes it was her first year of teaching but that was hardly a reason to bother her. Twitching to herself she flung the doors to the Tavern open. She was wearing a thick wool trench coat-esque jacket that didn't quite reach her mid thigh. It had two big pockets and was held together by big buttons. It was layered and was fitted to her slender but pretty much flat shape. She was also wearing gray, drab dress pants and some regular flats but she didn't really call attention to them. Both her hands were in her pockets when she pushed through the Tavern doors and meant to sit at the counter. It had been a long day and school would be starting soon. She still had the last part of her lesson plan to work out and honestly she hadn't even started planning what kind of midterm she would put together for the kids so when she suddenly got a strange pull from the other corner of the Tavern she was mildly shocked.
This shock faded though and was replaced with her usual curiosity. "Just get me a Corona or whatever you have on draft." Lian mumbled, the guy didn't hear her at first and Lian, who was too frustrated to repeat herself, waved her hand at her and walked, more like sauntered, to the other side of the room. She could practically feel a pulse around him, something about him was important but she didn't know what it was. He was special, she realized, she was messing up the whole aura in this place but she couldn't tell what it could possibly be. What would make him such a freak that even in this god forsaken town he would stand out. This immediately interested her. Sitting down in the chair opposite him, she threw her small purse over the edge of the chair and stared at him a little bit intensely. She needed no invitation. He was her next experiment. "What are you?" She asked, she never was one to shoot the breeze.

Jack looked up at Lian as she sat down, and as she spoke to him he replied with a question "what do you think I am?" he said to her. It had only been a few hours ago that he had transformed back to his human self, and of course he looked like a human... but minor things like his hands and his face took time to change back. His eyes had been golden all evening, and his hands still hand tons of fur and extremely sharp dirty nails. Everything else though seemed completely normal.
Casually he picked up his drink and took a slow sip of it, watching Lian with slightly interested eyes.

Lian didn't want to give up, though she realized that there was no way she could possibly guess. For a few minutes she stared at him. He might be an assassin, that might explain the scars. She realized though that the image didn't suit him at all. He wasn't charming enough to be a trained assassin. He did something, she knew. Something was bothering him. He was drinking, perhaps he's depressed? Staring at him, when he rose the glass by some freak chance she noticed his hand which was just freakishly hairy. She instantly grabbed his free hand and turned over the palm, there is no way a normal man could possibly have such hairy hands she observed just before she noticed his weirdly long nails. Scratching his nail against her skin, it left a scrape and she really didn't press into her skin at all. They were still pretty sharp.
"I never would have guessed big boy; if I didn't know better I'd say you were a Werewolf. Though around here I can't say I'd be terribly shocked." She still had his hand in hers, she kept turning it over expecting that the hair would recede at any moment- her curiosity was obviously sparked.

Like a limp doll, Jack let Lian do whatever the heck she wanted with his hand. Although as she seemed to be unable to let go of his hand, Jack took it away from her and set it down on his thigh. "Does that answer your question then?" he asked her drearily. Jack watched her curiously, his mind going two different ways. He was indeed tempted, but how could he benefit from even touching someone like this? It was just the lack of sex that made him think like this.
Sighing lightly, he took another slow sip of his alcohol looking past Lian and at the people behind her.

Lian honestly was kind of pissed off when he took away his hand. She grew no emotional attachment to it, but it pissed her off that she wasn't able to figure out exactly how that works. "How exactly did you become a werewolf? I can't really believe you'd be retarded enough to be bitten by some beast." She stated nearly laughing at the thought of it. He seemed like the rugged individualistic American cowboy with a PhD in something that makes no practical sense in the real world. It amused her more than she cared to admit, but the sparkle in her eye said it all. "Actually don't bother answering that question I don't care about it," Lian amended suddenly. Nodding her head to the ceiling as though that had all the questions she wanted answered, she finally glanced back at him. She looked driven like she was when she first arrived in the Tavern. "I came over here because I sensed that something is...wrong, and that it has been wrong for some time." She began to explain, despite the fact that she only stood 5'5" and was painfully weak as far as muscle mass went, she leaned forward as though she could honestly take this guy. "I don't care about you, don't get me wrong, but you do mess up the chi in this place ridiculously so and I will find out anyway so- what makes you special? You're a werewolf, interesting enough, don't tell me you're really wounded and mysterious." She said, her eyes lit by some strange intensity that she never bothered to conceal. Learning how people work was what interested her the most.

Jack listened to everything she had to say, and when it seemed that she was actually waiting for his reply; Jack shrugged indifferently. "Have you ever lost your mind?" he asked her as he drained his cup. The words were said in a normal tone, but seemed to have a deeper meaning. Leaning forward, Jack was tempted to touch her but seriously saw no worth in doing so. Instead he just stared at her, not the creepy kind of stare that people do... oh no; an intense kind of gaze that would make anyone excited. "How can you not care, yet question me like this?" he then said in a quieter tone.

"Of course I'm insane," she answered naturally laughing under her breath. Before she could respond normally or listen to him for some reason he was stuck in a sort of trance. It was a staring contest of sorts only the point was to not let her soul blink as opposed to her eyes. She looked blank, automatically recoiling as though she were physically hit. No one gets too close, no one gets close ever- she isn't even really part of this word. She is the narrator of the play, she is author of the book- she has no right to be any kind of star of this show. "It bothers me when I see the ether being disturbed, you are perhaps aware of the constant, disturbances your very presence causes?" She leaned back in her chair and gave him a sort of intense stare of her own. It was far more judgmental than it probably needed to be and she really didn't care. Something about him simply was wrong. "I care for you about as much as a scientist would care for their lab mice. You're important for the time being." She didn't even blink, none of this seemed weird to her or rude at all. "You wouldn't understand though, despite the fact that you have at least some extra-sensory perceptions you could never understand what you're indirectly causing." She rolled her eyes as though it were somehow his fault that he didn't have her pathetic power.

Jack sighed, she obviously didn't take him seriously. A lot of cocky and over-confident people never really cared about him, she was just another shell in the crowd. "You're extra-sensitive then?" he asked her with a quirked eyebrow, a kind of devil-ish look on his face. The thought tempted him, but then again Jack just considered finding a random hooker. That'd be easier, and probably better then this woman. Spinning the ice in his empty glass with his finger, he looked down at the ice then back up at Lian. "You're right," he then said "I don't understand, and I really don't care," as he spoke the ice in the cup slowly started to creep over his finger "Question me all you like, but if you're looking for someone to toy with you've picked the wrong person." All of this was said slowly, smoothly and gracefully.

"You underestimate me," she stated rolling her eyes and leaning back in her chair. Then, unexpectedly she turned away from her and waved the single employee over. mechanically she got out her wallet from her purse that looked impeccably, almost anally, well organized. "Get me something with a lot of meat- fuck lettuce. If you have fries throw them on a plate. Figure it out." She said as she shoved two twenties at him. "You can keep the change," she added which immediately got the poor guy excited. He was no waiter but she never was one to get up and get food, not when this specimen might leave. Unbuttoning her jacket, as she was getting hot inside, she casually let her jacket fall over the chair and raised a brow at Jack. Under her jacket she happened to be wearing a purple satin, button up shirt that was modest as they come but was fitted just enough to not make her look flabby.
"You're interesting," she stated suddenly looking jaded. What made him interesting was that he reminded her a little bit of herself. "Part of you probably likes this constant prodding anyway," she stated rolling her eyes.

His eyebrow quirked once again as Lian undressed and as she spoke he turned his eyes to her face. "What ever makes those wheels turn at night," he said to her indifferently. How much longer would she sit there? It wasn't that he was anxious, it was that he was bored with her. He had heard all these ridiculous questions before, and it bothered him slightly that she couldn't think of anything better to ask him. Casually he glanced down at his hand, feeling easier now that it was back to normal. He then brought his attention back to Lian, seeming to wait for her to speak again.

Honestly she wasn't going to get up- if that was simply to make a statement. She was not going to be the first to back down in this fight. Looking satisfied more than anything else, she was looking through him and patiently waiting for her food when finally the incompetent idiot himself came back with a medium size hamburger, no lettuce, and a few handfuls of probably cold fries with chili sauce on top. Clearly he outdid himself. "Chili, nice touch," She said not even looking at him. The poor guy lingered another few moments, it was obvious he wanted more of a tip, he figured going above and beyond might get him something from her but she had already tipped him and she wasn't going to have anymore of his begging. Leaning back and picking at the fries first, she tried one at the edge and as she suspected they were only luke warm. She didn't mind though, she was starving. Grabbing a fork, she worked on the fries. Naturally she tried to find a certain amount of balance between the chili and the french fries. "Just pick off it if you want anything," She said without looking up at him. She wasn't about to explain why she was just eating randomly. "Are you going to be here a while?" she asked suddenly glancing up at him, despite her meticulous eating habits she had a tiny bit of chili sauce on the side of her mouth.

"No, thank you," Jack replied to her offer. "I'm already full," he said as she ate. At her question though, he took a moment to reply. Finally after atleast five minutes he said, "I don't know," and it was pretty much true. He was though feeling tired and seriously thought he should probably leave now if he planned on getting any sleep...
Nah.
Watching Lian eat the corners of his lips dipped down a little, why was he still sitting here? Jack stood up, and the chair he was in made such a loud noise it seemed to disrupt one half of the bar. "Right now actually sounds good," he said plainly.

She made no move to stop him, he was hard not to find. She twitched when he got up as it made whatever disturbances he was effectively causing in the Aether even more obvious to her than before. Wiping off the tiny thing of chili from the side of her mouth she finally looked up at him now that her appetite was at least slightly curbed. "I'll find you again, as long as you're still suffering," she said, her voice low. To her, he had a target on his back and a tracking device on his leg. Turning back to her plate, she took another forkful of chili cheese fries as though she honestly hadn't even noticed Jack leaving. She would find him again, besides why should she move when she just got comfortable where she was. It never really bothered her to crash another person's table, even if there were other empty ones that were often just as close if not closer. If he thought she would back down, Lian thought, he had another thing coming.
