Site-wide plot time! So, here’s the direction I’m planning on going and hopefully this will inspire some new plot threads for other people’s characters as well.
The creatures of the forest are becoming more unruly and wild, now more confidently trespassing onto school ground. Of course, some will be violent, others might not be, it depends on the creature and their usual habits. However, most will be feral and likely to attack students and staff members like an animal backed into a corner. These creatures will have an eerie pale green glow to them, a sickly aura that could transfer to your character if you’re not careful. Or, perhaps this is a sickness you’d want to get.
I don’t have a name for it yet, but this sickness will affect different characters in different ways. The major factor is that a character will experience a high fever, however, their powers and abilities will fluctuate wildly. Again, this is to the writer’s discretion, as the effects can be unpredictable. Will it amplify a character’s powers to levels that they find unwieldy, or will it dampen them to a point where they might as well have none? Maybe it can introduce a mutation to their power, giving them the ability to do something they normally couldn’t? Regardless of how it goes, it will only be a temporary change, one that will last a week at most. They will be able to get sick again, so maybe they’ll become addicted to the sickness, or try their best to avoid ever catching it again.
Why this is happening, no one knows. I mean, I know, but for the sake of building up an organic mystery for both you and your characters, I’ll be holding my cards close to my chest.
You can have your characters encountering these creatures without needing me to moderate your thread, though I might invade those threads every now and again to drop hints or give some clues. The creatures themselves probably won’t have motivations of their own besides self-preservation and any with high enough intelligence to communicate won’t know where the sickness originated from. That said, I can also play out some encounters if that’s what people would prefer.
This event will culminate with a group of truth seekers venturing into the forest to find the cause of it all, once they know what they’re looking for of course.
So, it’s a bit of a plot sandwich. You got your action and character stuff as the buns, and the mystery at the center. Who wants to take a bite?
