Hello everyone, I hope you've all been doing well!
I can't express how excited I am to be rejoining you all again here at Foresta! I figured we could use this thread to catch up with each other and share what we have all been up to while we've been away ^_^ I missed you all so much! Can we like, group hug or something?
Feel free to share as much or as little as you'd like
( To keep this first post short, I'm going to create a separate post - because I have a loootttttt to share lol)

Group hug! Glad to have y'all back Currently in school at UCLA, trying to figure out wtf I want to do with my life after graduating. This summer I'm doing an internship and taking a couple of classes so forgive me if I get worse at responding. Idk, not much has happened in my life I guess xD

big ol group hug!! I missed y'all!!
I haven't really been up to much tbh. Been unemployed for a hot minute because of covid, but my partner works from home so it's cool. Been doing a lot of delicious cooking, trying to get good at baking bread! More recently I've been back to making a tonne of art again, plus I've been trying to get back into writing and rp. Trying to find a way to healthily and productively approach my hobbies!!
But yeah I'm boring lol. Made some cool new characters. Been trying to figure draw every day. Reluctantly running a group rp on another site. Learning gouache, been trying to do by-mail art trades and send letters to friends. Did three paintings in a week. Moved my studio downstairs. It's chill.

Wow, I'm not even really sure where to start! I'll try my best to remember everything I wanted to share! I ...think I'll try to divide it into some categories? So I don't ramble on to much
Work Stuff So the last time I posted here on Foresta, I was working at a coffee shop in town ( refer to Rohan's Coffee Shop Chronicles thread ) Geesh..that was in like 2017/2018
Late 2017 I got a job at a wholesale warehouse and started out working in the food court for the first year. Last year (2018/2019) I transferred to a new department of Night Stocking and LOVE IT! This September will be my 2 year mark with the night merch crew, and 3 years with the company.
Just recently, I applied for an extra training position that specializes in returns and the handling of hazmat materials and have also been training to get my forklift driver's certification!
School Stuff
*Quick background info: I'm working towards becoming a vet tech as well as looking at getting a certification in equine sports massage. I've been going to a community college to complete all my general education classes required by the vet tech program.
School has been quite a ride. I was actually thinking of dropping out again because I was struggling so much and wanted to move to a different area of study. This winter I started my final class needed for the vet tech program -Cell Biology (bleh..) With the whole pandemic thing, my class was moved to online only and that was a clusterfuck learning experience. Ironically enough, my final exam was about viruses lmao. I passed the class and I am now finished with all the required classes needed for the program!! The final step is to get 80+ hours of job shadowing ( also a requirement for the program) but a lot of things are still shut down here, so I'm kind of stuck waiting to see what happens.
With any luck, I will be going to West Virginia in September for a campus tour of the equestrian college where I want to get my sports massage certification. For now, nothing is set in stone, but hopefully in the next couple months/year I will be starting one of the programs!
Life Stuff
I don't have a lot of life stuff to share lmao. I mean.. I'm 23 now so..go team
I did meet some one ^_^ We've been dating over a year now ( 2 years in December). I know you're not supposed to date coworkers but...oops! rofl. By technicality we started talking at my friend's birthday party first, even though I had seen him around at work
My other big life thing was last year (2019) I traveled to California with my mom and stepdad to Mt. Whitney (tallest mountain in the lower 48). I made it to the summit with my stepdad on June 26 at a height of 14,508 feet! Getting a late start on the return trip, we made it back to the trail head a little after 9 am the next morning on the 27 (long story for another time). I have pictures, but i'm not sure how to share them from Google Drive

Hi, I'm old. I'm 27, married now and doing... job stuff. I dunno, old people stuff. I am working on publishing a book and am about a few chapters away from finishing my first book then starting the process to editing the whole damn thing cause it needs it. x_x;

Yo my dawgs. I think the last time I was on the site I was still studying Computer Science, but good news! I successfully switched programs and I am a proud owner of a Rhetoric and Media Studies Bachelors Degree (with Minor in English Lit). Some of you may ask what kind of job that gets me, well I’ll tell you, it gets me a job at Dollarama where I’m slowly losing my mind. Exhibit A. I was supposed to have a meeting with one of my profs to talk about my career options, but then covid happened. I’m currently stuck in retail limbo until this stuff gets sorted out. Outside of that though, I have two books on the backburner, one of which is an anthology based on Exhibit A that I’m sitting on until I finally escape Dollarama. The other book has technically been published for over five years now, but after reading it recently it definitely needs some major editing. I do not recommend publishing a NaNoWriMo project immediately after its written. It does not stand the test of time. Things have been going well for me otherwise.

Thank you, those were from the times when my laptop crapped out and I had no writing outlets other than my phone. What you see is me trying to reclaim my sanity.
