KASEY TOKALA
NICKNAME Kase, Kay, Toki, Kala.
AGE 16.
BIRTHDAY 1st April.
SPECIES Fox shapeshifter.
ETHNICITY Caucasian.
GENDER Female.
SEXUALITY Heterosexual.
DORM Lyra.POWERKasey was born into a clan of fox-shifters just like herself. Most of the shifters in their clan usually experienced their first shift between the ages of eight to ten, and when Kasey reached the age of thirteen and still hadn’t shifted her mother revealed that her father was not in fact a shifter from another clan as she had first said, but in fact a human from the nearby town. As a result of this, Kasey’s shifts started later in life and she sometimes still struggles to control them whilst experiencing an intense emotion.
She can shift herself completely into her fox form at will, and has heightened senses in her human form, although to a significantly less degree than in her fox shape. As a result of her ability to shift shape, she generally heals somewhat quicker than an average human as the process of shifting encourages her body to heal itself.
Unfortunately silver effects her in much the same way that it would with a werewolf and will even sometimes burn to the touch. Significant injuries will not heal easily, much like they would not if the injured party was a human.
APPEARANCEIn her human form, Kasey stands at on the smaller side at only 5’” and weighs in at only 102lbs. Due to her fast metabolism as a result of her shifting Kasey struggles to maintain a healthy weight, leaving her with a very small and sleek build. Her hair is an almost unnatural red colour that is the same as her fur in her fox form, and her eyes are such a light green that they almost appear yellow in some lights. She has a small scar on the left side of her ribcage, a few inches down from her breast, where she caught herself on some barbed wire in fox form. She also has her Clan tattoo, three small stars surrounding a crescent moon, on the inside of her right wrist.
She tends to dress fairly casually, usually in a t-shirt and jeans with a pair of sneakers on. She very rarely entertains jewellery and usually has her long hair scraped back into a ponytail. She also rarely wears make up, preferring a natural look, and avoids wearing perfume as many of the scents irritate her nose.
In her fox form, she stands and just 14’ high and weighs in at just 7lbs. She has the traditional red fox markings – a red coat with a white underside, black paws and a white-tipped tail, as well as black markings on either side of her muzzle. Her eyes maintain the same eerie colour as her human form, and there’s a vague outline of her tattoo underneath her fur that can’t be seen unless the fur is parted.
PERSONALITYKasey was raised as a part of a family-oriented shifter Clan in Texas, where vixens were to be seen and not heard. As a child, she struggled with this immensely, unable to tame her own loud-mouthed and quick-witted nature. Though she was often reprimanded, her status as the clan leader's adopted daughter meant that she was cut a lot of slack. As she grew older, she gradually learnt to hold her tongue for the most part, although sometimes her temper still gets the better of her.
Outside of her clan, Kasey appears to be a completely different person. Free from the restrictions of fox shifter society, she is commonly described as nothing short of a 'firecracker.' She's not afraid to say what she means, though her time living as part of the Clan have taught her that sometimes it can be beneficial to hold her tongue, and is more than capable of defending herself. She is often quiet when she first meets someone new, biding her time until she's sure that the new person can be trusted, something ingrained into her when she was just a young kit.
She's generally a very happy and outgoing person, and is usually unlikely to dwell on anything sad or let anything effect her for too long. She can be known to hold a grudge if she thinks someone has betrayed her. She's very calm in the face of fear and does her best to remain rational at all times. When her temper gets the better of her, she usually does her best to remove herself from that situation as best as she can, but she's not afraid to defend herself if necessary. She's incredibly defensive of her Clan and won't stand for a bad word to be said against them.
Her biggest fear is something bad happening to her Clan, although she also has a rather irrational fear of spiders. She loves reading and writing, working as a novelist, and secretly loves to sketch. Having been raised as the only female kit in her clan, she can be somewhat awkward around other females.
WEAKNESSES Due to being the only female kit in her clan, Kasey hasn’t had much experience with other girls her own age and therefore is often somewhere awkward around them. She hates any mention of her mother being made, and has abandonment issues following the disappearance of her mother. Her small stature means that she doesn’t have a huge amount of physical strength.STRENGTHS Kasey’s independent nature is a huge strength in many ways, not in the least in being her inspiration for leaving behind everything she’s ever known. She has some real artistic talents, although is not particularly confident about them, and her lean stature means she’s a good runner. She is incredibly determined and will not give up without a fight, and is also intensely loyal.HISTORY Kasey was raised as the lone female kit in a small family-oriented fox shifter Clan in Richardson, Texas, who called themselves the Three Star Clan. With her grandfather being the alpha, she was treated like she was fragile until she was old enough to rebel against this idea. Most kits undergo their first shift at the ages of eight to ten, and when Kasey's finally arrived at thirteen, her mother revealed that her father was not a werefox from another Clan - like she had previously claimed - but was a human whom she'd met on a visit to Vancouver.
Embarrassed by this, Kasey's mother left the Clan one day whilst they were out on a hunting trip in the local woodlands, leaving behind nothing but a note that simply said that she was sorry. Horrified by his daughters actions, Kasey's grandfather swore that if Miranda ever stepped foot on Clan territory again, she would be imprisoned for the abandonment of her only child.
The Clan rallied to raise Kasey in what they often joked to be a 'collective' effort, with her grandparents taking responsibility for her, and her aunts and uncles doing the majority of babysitting duty. Kasey loves her Clan dearly, fully reciprocating their love, and was reluctant to leave. However, when a fox shifter that was passing through told her about the school, she couldn't resist the opportunity to get away from her hometown and broaden her horizons.
Whilst Kasey loves being away from her hometown and seeing new things, she will undoubtedly return to her Clan someday, where she plans to change the role of a vixen in the Clan from the inside.IN CHARACTER SAMPLE There were few things in life that Kasey loved as much as the forest.
There was something enchanting about the sounds of the birds chirping in the trees, and the smell of deer and rabbit in the air. It wasn't something that she'd gotten to experience often out in the plains of Texas, save for the quaterly trips that the Clan had made out into the Colorado wilderness. Now, though, she was a few agent... she could do whatever she wanted.
She couldn't have been more surprised when her gradfather had granted her permission to leave. He'd been telling her for years that it was her duty to stay within the Clan's ranks and one day raise a family there, until she'd almost gone crazy with the idea that she might never leave - might never really experience anything. He'd always said she was too independent for her own good, and she was fairly sure that he was right.
Still, she was here now. Halfway between Texas and the school she was about to call home, four paws planted firmly on the ground as she stood still and serene in the middle of the forest and just... paused. This was what freedom felt like. This was the feeling that she'd longed for since she was old enough to understand what it meant.
It was even better than she'd imagined.Faceclaim/Art CreditTemplate by Sky ★ Inspired by Laika of GS
