The skies outside were a pale blue color, with ribbons of darker blues and vanilla swirls, combining together to create a watercolor portrait. While the days seemed longer at the academy, and a certain female had finished up most of her studies earlier that morning, and so the girl decided to take a little walk around the building. Odele had spent the morning cooped up in her dorm room, and had woken up with her cranium against the window and a text book cradled in her soft palms. It had confused the girl quite so, but nonetheless she had readied herself for the day. Once the female had taken a shower, the girl had then slipped into a dark colored shirt, a navy color that brought out the sparkling color of her eyes, and crossed neatly across her collarbone, barely hiding the stretching scar that crept a little ways across her slender neck. Along with dark colored pants, yet however her snow colored feet were adorned in pristine magnolia sandals, while her neck had been covered with a light silk blue scarf tied neatly. After the femme had gotten dressed, she then proceeded to braid her long auburn hair, before she grabbed a little snack out the way from her dorm. In the Serpens dorm, she seemed to be the most properly dressed during the day, for her personal hygiene was that fitting to a feline. Her classes had ended a little bit in the afternoon, and it was around two in the evening, yet Odele walked quietly through the halls.
Odele felt the warm breeze flutter across her cheeks and whisper sweet nothings in her ears, light berry colored lips parted slightly to intake a breath of air, feeling it circulate inside her body, before leaving once again. On the wooden floor, the girl's sandals made a soft little tapping noise, barely noticeable underneath her weight. As the girl passed certain dormitories, she had gotten looks from other individuals as they made a shiver crawl up her spine, and her stride became a little more quick and pronounced. Humming a soft little tune, it carried like a song, or perhaps a lullaby, her eyes trained and focused on the long stretch of hallway ahead of her. Occasionally her light colored beacons eyed the paintings strewn across the walls, loosing herself in the extravagance of the academy. It wasn't until her keen senses spotted a sign that read "library", and her strong hand fell upon the handle before she pulled the door open, entering the room whilst leaving the door wide open in display.
The girl's eyes widened at the rows and shelves of books, a little twinkle in her eye as the corners of her lips turned into a little sheepish smile. Mouth parting in awe, she was lost in wonderment before she was awoken to her senses once again, and her eyes flickered over the bindings. Walking softly, the girl instantly spotted a book that caught her eye, however it was rather high. The book was a story of some sorts, perhaps a mystery novel, for it seemed the eighteen year old female enjoyed those types of books the most. Glancing upwards, her chin tilted slightly and her brows furrowed together, and she stretched an arm upwards, however to no prevail could she grab the book. It would be quite funny if one were to pass by the library and see the girl struggling to reach a book that was out of her reach, quite comical, to those who weren't really that of a kind type. Huffing, the girl was about to use her power to climb the shelves and knock the book down, and she knew this would cause hell in the library, so she didn't do that, and continued trying to jump and grab the book with her slender legs, to no prevail grabbing the book she wanted.

Kemp had been browsing the bookshelves aimlessly for the last hour or so. He didn't have class today, and his homework had been completed hours ago. With nothing to do, he figured he would find a book to keep his restless mind occupied for a while but was having poor luck in finding the right text.
Weaving his way through the various sections, he paused when he spotted a girl jumping up and down against one of the shelves. He had been one of the only students in the entire library for most of the day and was surprised to see he wasn't alone. He noticed the girl jumping up and down with one arm reaching upwards to a higher shelf above her head. Was she stretching or something? He watched curiously for a few moments before realizing she was attempting to get a book that was just out of her reach, falling just short of success.
Peering at her through his heavily tinted sunglasses, he wondered if he should offer assistance but hesitated at the thought of being rudely rejected. He knew there was a fifty-fifty chance that she would accept his help but figured those odds were as good as any. Besides, she didn't look like the " I don't need your help" type.
Shifting his eyes to the book that taunted her, he pulled in a small breath before taking two steps forward." Would you..like some help?" He asked, slightly cautious. His voice was soft being both shy and soft spoken as he studied the girl. He hadn't noticed her around campus before and made a mental note that she may be a new student. Yet another addition to the island of misfits.

The female's determined blue oculars trained focus upon the leather bound book that had ultimately caught her attention; and getting the female's attention was quite the difficult task. A few wisps of auburn hair pulled loose from the braid and brushed against the girl's flushed cheeks, chest rising heavily as her breath became more labored. Reaching upwards once again, she stood on the tips of her toes and leaned against the shelf for balance, arm stretching to reach the corner of the book to pull it down, she had almost gotten it on her own. Being short had it's good necessities, but more often than not, it didn't. Brows knitted together and she flinched backwards, nearly stumbling in the process if it weren't for her arm stretching out to grab the rickety shelf just in the nick of time. Letting out a shaky sigh, the girl then gave up for a moment, it was utterly hopeless!
Odele's back was turned from the male who was a little ways from her, forehead resting against the wooden shelf as she slowly caught her breath. The girl reached to push a few strands of hair from her features before adjusting the scarf around her neck, there was nobody nearby, right? Fingers hesitantly reaching for the knot of the silky scarf, her breath caught in her throat as the footsteps of another sounded, and she quickly re knotted the scarf. Long lashes fluttering quietly, the girl listened as the soft and timid voice reached her ears, and she relaxed a small bit. Loosening her shoulders, the girl turned around shyly before facing the male, surprised by his... rare looks. The male's hair was that of a sooty gray color, and it looked soft to the touch, and instead of finding it odd, she found his hair quite endearing, but the thing that stuck out the most about him was his sunglasses. Thinking back on her studies of the powers, she studied him for a moment with soft timid eyes, he was probably sensitive to the light. Making note of this, she gave a little sheepish smile at him, nose crinkling in the process as her freckles seemed to come alive as well. "Ah, uhm, yes please, if you're willing to give me a hand-". The girl's voice was naturally soft and melodious, henceforth what she might have been named after. Odele then tipped her head curiously before giving another sheepish smile, and her voice came out softly once again, as if she were speaking to a little bird. "My name's Odele, and i-i'm in the Serpens dormitory, w-what about you?"

Kemp's eyebrows raised over the rim of his glasses curiously. The girl was huffing lightly from trying to capture the elusive book and is seemed she was becoming both discouraged and winded. His question was rewarded with an answer and he gave a small smile. Her voice was soft and easy on his tender ears. which made him even more interested in her response. She reminded Kemp of himself in a way, and decided he had made a good choice in asking if she would like assistance.
""Ah, uhm, yes please..." She answered, tilting her head up towards the leather bound book once more. Something about her was soothing to him, but he couldn't place exactly what. Perhaps her voice? It had a gentle ring to it when she spoke, a kind of soothing and, for him, relieving compared to everything else. Maybe it was her kind nature. He could almost feel it radiating off her which was kind of rare to find in a place like this. There was no doubt she had a kind heart.
She said her name was Odele, and she was in the Serpens dorm. Again Kemp smiled."My name is Kemp,"He answered, reaching his hand up slowly and pulling his tinted glasses down just enough to share a glimpse of his piercing eyes that were fixated on the book that was now off the shelf and carefully lowering down to Odele's side."I'm also in Serpens." His voice was steady but hinted a small amount of pleasure. Finally, somebody in Serpens who was just as quiet as he was.

The slender legged femme studied the male with curious sapphire eyes, long auburn lashes fluttering quietly as a warm breeze brushed across her warm yet snowflake colored cheeks. Odele watched with slight interest as the latter's brows raised his eyebrows curiously, and through the tinted shade of the male's glasses, she thought she could see a pair of youthful looking eyes. As her cranium tilted softly, a wisp of auburn hair flickered past her chin and brushed her freckled nose, making her sneeze softly; one similar to a kitten's, no wonder! The girl was very grateful for the help of the rather tall male, he gave her a kind smile which hardly anybody ever did, and it made a smile creep across her features as well because it was a natural reaction. The girl refused to use her empath powers on him, he was a kind person after all, and she didn't want to hurt herself in the process.
Watching the male with curious blue eyes, she caught a glimpse of the color of his eyes and thought it was a rather beautiful color, she could find the beauty in anything. Humming softly, it was a little tune that was not very high, more of sweet nothings that melted into the air like a quiet song; cautious of the male's sensitive hearing. As he reached upwards and grabbed the leather bound book, she was tense in her actions, for if he stumbled she would be prepared to soften his fall somehow, it was just the kind of girl she was. Listening closely, he stated his name was Kemp, and she gave a polite little smile, hands fidgeting with each other every time she met a new person. "It's been a pleasure to meet you, Kemp. I'm a little new here and still trying to locate where everything is, i'm glad we're in the same dorm though, you seem like a nice person"
Odele leaned from one leg to another, eyes flickering up to the lights as she grimaced, hiding the light with her hand as she chuckled softly. "The lights sure are bright, huh? It must be hard for your eyes and hearing, after all, the Serpens dorm isn't all exactly quiet. You don't have any trouble, do you? I don't mean to be rude or anything, I just don't like to see people struggling is all-"

When the now floating book was almost in Odele's hands, Kemp released his focus from it and watched the leather bound pages drop lightly into her hands. He returned his glasses to their proper position over his eyes, noticing the girl seemed to be studying him. He assumed it was the hair that was peaking her interest, seeing as it tended to be a conversation starter in most situations.
She wasn't fragile by any means, but her movements and actions made her seem.. dainty. He supposed she was like one of those ballet figurines you would find in a music box. Soft and gentle, yet not easily breakable either. She mentioned that she was still pretty new to the academy and that he seemed like a nice person. He nodded, seeing her squint at the lighting.
" Well, thanks. You're not so bad yourself." His tone hinted a light humorous tone and a smirk pulled briefly at the corner of his lips. He shifted his weight, turning and reaching around into the bag that was slung over his left shoulder. The sound of a zipper was muffled by the large shelves and he returned to Odele's direction once more, holding a dark pair of sunglasses in his hand.
"Here,"[/colorHe offered, holding them out to her. They were identical to the ones he was currently wearing." They help with the lights.. not so much the sounds. They're the only way I can really function when I'm not in my room" He explained, shrugging to himself.
Nobody had asked how he was doing before, and he wasn't exactly sure how to respond. Perhaps because they were all (for the most part) in the same boat: learning to deal with new powers and/or harness the ones they were born with.
" It sucks."The words spilled out of his mouth before he had a chance to filter them into something less blunt. His expression shifted to something just under embarrassment and he fumbled to recover." I mean- not all the time. It's been hard to adjust, but Serpen's isn't as loud as you think. They usually pair you up with a roommate whose as quiet, or as loud, as you."

The lily scented female glanced out the bay window softly, eyes warming due to the beautiful sky outside. Returning her attention to the leather bound book, the girl's sharp eyes picked up it was floating, and as she cast a glance in his direction it fell into her hands. The book felt heavy, a weight against her petite form, but the girl looked down at the cover and an excited smile crossed over her berry colored lips, brows raising in curiosity. Odele read a lot when she was just a child, for it was the only thing that kept her company, after all. Fingers lightly brushing against the corners, the texture felt rough underneath her smooth fingers, and she shivered lightly, before returning her attention back to the male. Even with cat shape-shifting abilities, the sun occasionally hurt her eyes due to the lighting, but more often than not she sought comfort in the dark shade of summer.
Odele's attention wandered for a moment, flickering over the giant shelves that surrounded them, it was a wonder how many books were actually in this library. Perhaps she would spent most of her days here, after all, there was only a few passersby, and this didn't seem to bother much. Upon hearing his voice, the girl turned back to him, only to notice a little smirk pulling upon Kemp's features, and this made her smile a little as well. Pulling a strand of auburn hair away from her features, the girl returned her attention to the male, whose arm was extended out to her. Blinking lightly at the glasses, the girl tilted her head curiously and took a tiny step forwards, gingerly leaning in to grab the dark tinted glasses that were nestled in his hand. Holding them lightly, the girl then slipped them onto her face and surprisingly, they fit well, yet they were a little loose for her rather slim features. Chuckling softly at this, her lips upturned into a smile before she glanced at the male in dark glasses similar to the ones she were wearing. "T-Thank you, but I won't need them for long. I don't have powers like you, but I guess they could be similar? Wait, no, not really. I have the cat shape-shifting ability, but even when I'm not in form, the sun usually hurts my sensitive eyes, as well as the sounds around me, but I've learned to blend them into background noise. I a-also have the empath power, b-but I don't use that much because it's rude to sneak into people's minds and pick out their emotions".
The girl listened to the male once again, nodding in response. Was she the only one without a roommate? It appeared to be that way, not unless somebody joined her in the near future. She honestly hoped not, for she would fear cleaning the dorm room every single day, if the person was quite messy. Shivering at this thought, she pushed it aside for the moment before looking up to the male, shrugging her shoulders softly, and noticed his slip up and just smiled warmly, encouraging him. "I don't have a roommate, not yet, at least I don't think. I usually just spend my nights studying in peace and wandering in the mornings, i've never actually gotten to go outside the academy and explore, I would like to do that one day, though. Perhaps one day, you'd like to accompany me? But it might be too loud, and I don't want you to be hurt"
