Upon her arrival to Foresta, Cora had somehow managed to find her way to the entrance hall of the school. It was only once she was in the entrance hall that the young girl was a little stumped on where to go next.
Looking all around her, Cora admired the various portraits and mirrors on the wall - taking a step toward one of the portraits Cora's eye landed on the painting of an older looking man. She guessed that he was one of the Principal's of the school from a long time ago, that was the only thing that really made sense.
Reaching her hand out to let her finger tips run along the frames of the painting, tiny sparks came out as her hand connected and Cora quickly moved her hand back to her body - frowning as she looked down at her arm. She still didn't have that much control over her power and it bothered the teen, needless to say. Sighing to herself, Cora shook her head as if she were attempting to shake away the brief bad mood. Within a few minutes, Cora felt back to her normal self and started down the entrance hall slowly - her eyes looking more toward all the mirrors and paintings on the wall then where she was actually going.

There was no particular reason Jax passed through the entrance hall on his way out of the school, rather than just popping out in his usual puff of smoke. He supposed it got a little less entertaining to use smoke after a while, or maybe he was just bored enough today that he wanted to waste a little more time. Whatever the case, the genie troped out into the entrance hall in his usual jeans, sneakers, and hoodie, head down to avoid as much attention as possible. Foresta was far, far better than his previous school, but years upon years of bullying had driven this habit deep into him. One consequence of this habit, however, was that he sometimes wasn't great about looking where he was going. This, combined with the fact that he was deep in thought considering what to do to get his mind off of things--winter always brought with it unpleasant memories and anniversaries--meant that he didn't see the girl passing through the entrance hall until he almost literally ran right into her.
He pulled up short with his usual quick reflexes, blue eyes wide with surprise. "Sorry," he blurted out.

With the sudden collision of another person, Cora jumped back and clutched at her chest in surprised "Good lord almighty," the young girl gasped - blurting out words she had heard from her grandparents quite often. If it hadn't been for the fact that her and the stranger were the same height, Cora no doubt wouldn't have been so surprised.
As she took a few steps back and heard the apology from the male in question, Cora nodded - still comprehending the collision in all actuality. "Were you lookin' at the paintings too?" the young woman asked then - this boy had been the first student to actually talk to her since she arrived at Foresta so naturally Cora wanted to continue the conversation to understand more about her surroundings.

"The paintings?" Jax echoed, looking around them. He hadn't taken in the paintings since his first couple days at the school; they'd melted into the background of everything else. He'd quickly gotten used to the displays of grandeur around the school, though at first he'd been nervous to even step foot inside, as if because he wasn't from some rich family he shouldn't have been here. Of course, that feeling had passed as he'd made himself at home and now he was quite happy to pass through it as if it was nothing more than his home. Which is was in a way, as he had nowhere else to call home. "No," he continued, unwrapping a piece of chocolate that popped into existence before him. "Just thinking. Sorry again. You look lost," he commented casually before popping the candy into his mouth, studying the girl with his blue eyes.

Jax repeated her question and Cora nodded easily in response. "Aren't some of them just gorgeous?" Cora observed out loud, her eyes wandering up toward some as she spoke. Jax's response was quick and simple though and Cora let out a disappointed sigh at the remark, how could someone not notice all these paintings?
Curiously the electric user glanced back toward Jax, watching as a piece of chocolate appeared out of no where and the strange boy started to eat it as if everything were normal. With her mouth forming a huge 'O', Cora took another step back - examining the boy as he chewed. "How could you possibly be eating that candy right now? Where did it come from? Is it poisonous? Are you a demon? What did you do?" Cora exclaimed and gasped all at the same time.
There had been a few students outside that had been using their powers, but Cora had managed to keep her questions to herself - deciding it would have been better not to approach strangers. Instead, now that a student was talking to her it was almost as if all her thoughts were bullets coming out of a machine gun. "And yeah, I mean I am lost - but seriously though, candy? You can make candy appear? That's so crazy!"

Jax held up one finger as he finished chewing, signalling for her to wait and internally trying not to laugh. Thus was not in any way an unusual reaction to his power, but definitely preferable to the people who thought he was possessed by the devil. She may have jumped to demon but at least she wasn't weilding crosses at him. And she didn't seem scared, just surprised, which was better. And nonetheless entertaining.
When he finished he addressed her questions one by one, smirking. "Yes but I'm used to them, because I have a serious chocolate addiction, not entirely sure on the specifics but probably from nothing, no, also no, conjured it, yes due to aforementioned chocolate addiction, and yes," he said, ticking off each question and hoping he hadn't missed any. "Among other things. Just conjuring candy would be pretty lame. I'm Jax." He held out one hand for her to shake. "You new?"

Jax answered her questions fairly quickly and the young girl did a little shake, sticking her tongue out in some sort of exaggerated disgust that looked more comedic than anything else. "I couldn't possibly eat any chocolate that appeared from out of nowhere, even if I made it myself. I'd be too paranoid about where it started." Cora shook her head, shaking the idea of chocolate coming from different galaxies out of her head.
Then the boy introduced himself and Cora reached her hand out to grip his for a strong handshake, "I'm Coralee, but you can just call me Cora."
A few moments passed and Cora took a glance behind Jax toward the rest of the entrance hall, sucking her lips in momentarily Cora looked back to her companion - "If you could just show me where the Lyra dorm is I'll probably be good the rest of the way."

Just just shrugged, laughing. "Nothing I've conjured and eaten has ever given me problems. I don't know if I'd take food from somebody else who conjured it, but I at least trust my own magic." For the most part, at least. He didn't add that he could only access parts of it and those other parts had a tendency to go off on their own and make a mess of things without his control. She didn't need to know that much. He followed her gaze back to the rest of the entrance hall, noting her request. That wouldn't be hard, considering he was in Lyra.
"Well, Cora, you're in luck," He said, turning to head back the way he'd come. Another chocolate popped into existence as he did and he unwrapped it. "Lyra just so happens to be my dorm. And it's the best dorm. Nothing against the others, but the artsy types just sit better with me. They tend to be less judge-y. But, y'know, I have no grand ambitions and I'm not the academic type, so I guess the artsy stuff is all I have going for me. What about you?"

Cora's demeanor was eased briefly as Jax assured her that he had never had any problems from any of the food that he had poof out of thin air. Nevertheless, she would be very suspicious if she were offered a bite of any said food.
When Jax mentioned that he was in Lyra as well, Cora was briefly relieved all the way up until he asked her what she interpreted as what she was doing at the school. She wanted her focus to be dance, but there was no way she was going to admit that to anyone anytime soon. "I just wanted to go here since there wasn't anything any regular schools could do for me," Cora admitted then - holding back as much as she possibly could. It was nice being able to talk to someone, but Jax seemed much more open than her and that didn't sit quite right with the girl.
In an attempt to change the subject, Cora nodded toward the path in front of them. "Lead the way, when you're ready?" Cora asked the boy then - excited to get moving.
[ooc; If you want we can end it with your post and him showing her where the dorms or, or we can have a continuation here or whatever!]
