VERITAS SOLARIS
NICKNAME Dork, Nerd, Geek AGE 15 BIRTHDAY 5/10/2002 SPECIES Human ETHNICITY GENDER Male SEXUALITY Straight DORM Pyxis POWER Genius Machinist/Programmer: When it comes to mechanical devices, or computerized ones, Veritas is very good at discovering what makes them tick. This allows him to operate his gauntlet, or other machinery. One day it could even allow him to build machinery, assuming such could be possible though.
The Gauntlet: A gauntlet that was a prototype for a weapon used by an extinct race of Aliens. This gauntlet is latched onto his right arm, and will not come off. It is made out of durable metals, and can withstand even the strongest attempts to remove it, and it electrocutes him each time it's removed. But the main purpose of it? It allows him to project his desires, his imagination into the real world as emerald colored constructs. It can also shoot out lasers, tractor beams and create Force Fields. Furthermore, it can translate any language. The Gauntlet has an unlimited power supply, but the constructs are limited to a degree. For you see the constructs require that he concentrate, and put all his desires, all his passion into making such a thing exist.
Each construct can take up to five hits from a regular human before they break, or two from those with super strength, but in truth, the durability is limited to how strong his will power is. For now however, the constructs and Forcefields are limited to the durability mentioned earlier. Currently he is only capable of one larger construct the size of a giant robot, or three smaller constructs than that. The gauntlet is also capable of low speed flight, of about twenty five mile per hour, as well. APPEARANCE Veritas is about Five Foot Three, his weight about one hundred and fifty lbs. His hair is white and styled into a flat top. White, albino skin is possessed by him that goes with his white hair. A crimson streak runs through his hair, meant by him as a means of giving it some color. Typically he carries himself in such a way that makes it easy for him to be forgotten by others, and tries to make himself seem small and insignificant when around others.
His typical clothing consists of a white tank top, white jeans, black boots, and a brown leather trench coat that ar worn by him. Of course he does have formal attire, mind you even if he prefers not to wear such. There are a couple of pieces of attire that he is never without. One of these is the chrome and crimson gauntlet that adorns his right ar, and will not come off. The other is a set of sunglasses that are similarly colored. PERSONALITY Veritas is an individual who is more at home with books, or tinkering with mechanical devices than h would bee with conversations. While he's not afraid, he's become somewhat jaded about humanity due to school up until this point. It makes it hard for him to want to trust, and rely on others. As a result of this, he pretends to not need anyone as a way of driving people off, and keeping himself safe. Furthermore, Veritas is a pessimist and expects things to go wrong. For example, if around a bully? He'd expect to get pounded. It is how his brain works, to a degree. Typically Veritas tries his best to make himself seem as normal as possible, so he can avoid being beat up. At times he even insults himself, and demeans his own progress in life.
A mite bit stubborn, Veritas doesn't know how to accept help when others offer. He'll misconstrue their "charity" as a way to weaken him, and ignore it for the most part. Animes, Video Games and Manga hold a special place in his heart. One might even say he's obsessed with it, and that could be proven. He loves to quote Gurren Lagann, among many other animes, and TV shows that he has seen over the years. A stubborn streak, and a high amount of will power is beginning to develop, even if he's a bit insecure about such presently. WEAKNESSES - Self Depreciating: Veritas is the kind of individual who self depreciates, and has an eternally low opinion of himself and his achievements. Usually he views anything he does as less than worthless, and is constantly berating hmself about "not being good enough" whenever he succeeds at anything in life.
- Endurance: Veritas is not that athletic of a person, preferring to hit the books rather than the Gymnasium. His body simply isn't built for enduring large amounts of power usage.
- Shocks to be you: Any attempt to remove or otherwise disable the gauntlet will result in painful electrical shocks that are administered directly to the nervous system of Veritas. This hurts a lot and causes his body to spasm and quite possibly could break bones.
- Glitchy: As it is a prototype the gauntlet can 'glitch' by attacking those he doesn't want it to, or making constructs when he doesn't want it to, or failing when he needs it the most.
- Physically Weak: His brawn is on the lower end of things, meaning that against an opponent who is strongr tan h is physically, he'd be at an extreme disadvantage without the gauntlet.
- Mortal: Without the gauntlet, he has no powers other than his brain, even if removing it would be lethal to him.
- Telepathic Assaults: Since his power is will power based, telepathy could be an effective weapon against him should one manage to employ it.
- Pheromones: Pheromones could also be a weapon against his ability.
- Self Defense System: Should he be incapacitated, and endangered the gauntlet has a "self defense" system tthat will take control of his body, and activate a number of pre-programmed constructs, and attacks. The Sell Defense System also forces his body to fight with martial arts skills that he doesn't have. When he wakes up he'll be in a lot of pain, because this hurts his body unfortunately. STRENGTHS - Light on his feet - Highly intelligent - Clever HISTORY Our story doesn't begin with Veritas, but with two races of Aliens in a far off galaxy. The alien species were called the "Tonda" which were a race of winged lizard men, and the Narrikians which were humanoid, but had gemstones in their foreheads, and markings on their bodies that glowed when they used their abilities. A militant race, the Tonda discovered that the Narrikians had been working on a way to turn thought into reality, and to redefine the universe with sheer will power alone. Naturally with the existence of such a weapon, the Tonda wanted it more than they wanted many other items of power.
War broke out in outer-space between the Narrikians, and the Tonda. Fearing what could happen if the Tonda did succeed at getting their hands on the weapon, seven Narrikians gathered together and built a machine to search for a suitable planet, and a suitable species that was close enough to theirs to hide the gauntlet with. Earth was found, and humanity was selected. As they had chosen what they believed to be the perfect species, the seven prepared to send the device to Earth, but they were betrayed by one of their own.
This individual had lost his family to the war with the Tonda, his family now prisoners. Having accepted a deal of the gauntlet in return for the safe return of his family, the individual tried to download the data on the gauntlet, and deliver it to the Tonda. But before he could, one of the Narrikians sacrificed themselves to manually launch the device into space and make it take it's path to Earth. The pod that they had sent out crashed into a forest where the ten year old Veritas was camping. Ever since he was ten, he's had the gauntlet stuck on his wrist. To safeguard the gauntlet, a Narrikian was sent to Earth, before the planet was destroyed. Unfortunately the individual got there too late.
Going to school like a regular person, Veritas was bullied in the school he went to because among other reasons he had the gauntlet stuck to his arm. Some of them pounded him severely. Spending days in the hospital unconscious, doctors attempted to get the gauntlet off of his arm, but to no avail. It simply wouldn't come off of him, and allow him his freedom. Worried for his own health, the doctors thought cutting off the arm was an option, but the gauntlet quickly disillusioned them of that, by electrocuting them when they tried.
It wasn't until six months later, that he had an incident. When one of the bullies broke his two hundred and fifty dollar tablet, something in Veritas snapped. Creating his first ever construct of Gurren Lagann, he beat the bully up and got himself suspended, and then expelled. Found by a Narrikian named "Sirius Nova" who had come to Earth to monitorr the gauntlet, and the power it held, Veritas spent the next 5 years, and 6 months training with the last Narrikian, learning how to use the gauntlet.
Finally. at Sirius's advice he started hunting for a place where he could learn more about his powers and how to control them, properly. Discovering Foresta Academy, Veritas has only recently transferred there, with a goal of discovering the secrets of the universe, including how the powers of his gauntlet works. IN CHARACTER SAMPLE Veritas looked at the uniform of the new school and sighed as he examined it. Was this what he was to wear? It wasn't even in his colors. Of course not many colors could go with the alien-tech gauntlet that was currently stuck on his wrist. Before had come here, he'd tried multiple attempts to remove it from his body. These included but were not limited to a blow torch, a chain saw, a hack saw, lit matches, an EMP grenade, a wrench, and just about very other solution that he could think of. Wearing the gauntlet with the school uniform was going to be hard, but well worth it h supposed. Granted, it was going to prove to be a headache.
"What does it take, to get the gauntlet off of my wrist?" asked Veritas. Faceclaim/Art Credit
