His own soft steps and the sounds of wildlife were all that Jayden could hear as he entered the rose garden. There had been more than a few times that the jay had thought to come in, but each time, there was something else that demanded his attention. Now that the weekend was here and he had nothing else to do since his homework was done, Jayden finally had found the time to lose himself in the scenery. Hopefully, the thick hedges towards the back wouldn't be enough to entirely swallow him whole, though. If necessary, he could easily use his wings to jump and glide to safety, right?
Sighing from a mixture of happiness and the random anxiety from the former thought, Jayden eased himself onto one of the many benches and allowed himself to be entirely captivated by the scents and sounds around him. He closed his eyes after a few moments, listening to the birds chattering to each other and trying to make out their conversations. There was definitely another blue jay around since he could distinctly make out her cries, but the birds that she was talking to... they were much more difficult to understand.
Jayden furrowed his brow in thought. He tried with all of his might to attempt making out what their responses were, but he was able to get the gist of the conversation from her replies. After a few frustrating seconds, Jayden decided to drop it altogether and curled to sit up again, stretching the weariness out of his wings before doing the same with his arms.
He was glad to have such a lazy day ahead of him. It gave him time to truly see who and what was around campus rather than sticking to his more well-learned areas.
