Jayden gave a loud groan and flopped stomach-first onto the unforgiving surface of the school's roof. He had somehow managed to fly his way up here, and now, he was almost regretting it.
Almost.
Of course his wings ached and his muscles were absolutely screaming at him, but the fact was that he had made it. A small chuckle escaped his throat. Before long, he'd be able to keep to the skies long enough to possibly survey the entire school without growing too tired. For now, though, he was collapsed in a heap of himself on the rooftop of the main building of the school and simply enjoying the cold concrete beneath him. "Soon!" he said, tapping a hand against the surface. "Soon, I'll be able to..."
It was about here that his vision cut out and everything went black. He breathed heavily and rhythmically, falling into a deep sleep with a smile still painted on his lips. He had done everything correctly today--he had eaten a large breakfast, practiced working with his wings for about half an hour, and then whizzed his way around until landing safely at his destination. But he had forgotten to bring something along to munch on afterwards to replenish the massive amount of calories he had burnt off in the process, not that it mattered given his current situation.
It wasn't until a few hours later that he awoke again with tiny pebbles ingrained into his cheek that he finally wriggled himself back onto his feet and stretched, yawning quietly before realizing that the sun was much higher than before. At first, he was shocked and started toward the door, but after a quick glance at his phone, he deflated. "Thank everything that it's Saturday," he sighed, smirking to himself and rolling his shoulders to wake them back up. His stomach growled loudly, and a hunger pain struck him that left him holding his midsection for a moment.
"Geeze," he breathed, feeling down his sides for anything that he could shove into his mouth, but to no avail. He huffed gently and started meandering a lazy path back downstairs and towards the cafeteria. Instead of surrounding himself with the crowd, though, he chewed slowly on an apple as he headed back to the roof with lunch in hand.
He sat back down again, picking at a vegetarian burrito and a nice selection of various nuts.
Almost.
