Full Name:
Alouette Sorell
Gender:
Female
Age:
17
Power(s): Literary Manipulation - the ability to control and manipulate books, scripts or any kinds of literature.
Alouette's ability has been evident ever since she was born. It turns out that this ability runs in the royal family, which she is part of. Her power awakened when she once was able to control paper and ink at age five. With this power, she can change the contents of a book, controlling the ink inside and can even remove it and manipulate it as long she can. She uses this in combat, however, this can only serve more as a diversion than for offense. But manipulating paper is also one of her abilities, and has been her mostly-used ability. She can transform paper from weapons to armors, making paper "blades", paper "swords", or even paper "bows" and "arrows". She can't construct life, but she can make paper "wings", except that she can only hover two feet of the ground. However, if she is against someone using fire and water, she is at complete disadvantage, so she often uses another literary ability to counter it.
Another ability of hers is to transform a written word to the actual object. This has limitations, though, as she can only make non-living things and cannot construct life. Also, the more complicated and bigger the object is, the greater the strain her body receives. The biggest she can make is a simple medium-sized room, and the most complicated probably a TV or anything technology, and she cannot construct magical objects or spells. There are two ways for her to summon an object, the easy way is to find a word on a book or anything, give her less than twenty seconds and she constructed the actual form. The difficult way, however, is for her to write the word anywhere and this takes a full minute to be completed. A misspelled word will backfire on her by a series of paper cuts, so she has to be careful using this way.
She couldn't use her powers without stopping to "recharge", but that's her choice, but pushing herself causes her body to break down. For example, summoning two objects using the hard way continuously can result for her nose to bleed, more objects can cause nausea, and more can cause her to faint. Also, manipulating paper and ink at the same time proved to be quite difficult for her and exhausts her causing dizziness. In other words, multitasking and nonstop use of her abilities affects and weakens her immunity, willpower and strength.
Appearance: Alouette has long wavy platinum blonde hair that reaches her waist with a side braid, glowing skin and blue-gray eyes. She has light freckles on her face, high cheekbones and a noticeable large forehead. Her blue-gray eyes are small, and it has a beauty mark under the right eye. She also has a curvaceous figure and is also tall, but not too much with a slender build, a height of 5'9 and a weight of 120 pounds. She carries herself with grace and elegance but she has this alluring air around her.
Alouette can be distinguished from a group of people easily with her platinum blonde hair and silver circlet she proudly wears, but she mostly stand out with her serene expression on her face and the amused glistening of her eyes which hides a deep desire for power. She walks in a sophisticated but proud way with her head held up high, with an almost unnoticeable atmosphere around her that almost says "I'm a princess so bow down to me, you peasants.", though people often brushes this away when they talk to her, unbeknownst to them that the air around her is a complete and accurate view of her personality already.
She usually wears silky and velvet dresses and silver jewelry. She always has a book in hand, and the common jewelry she always wears is a silver circlet which is proof that she is from a royal family.
Personality: Alouette is a sophisticated lady with a polite speech and fine manners. She's also quiet, but not timid. She seems nice to everyone, though most of her deeds has a hidden motive. Despite growing in a life of luxury, Alouette isn't just some spoiled brat. However, she isn't always nice. Alouette is a cunning and manipulative individual, and will do anything to reach her goals selfishly. She is a natural leader despite her silent exterior, but prefers to be the one behind the scenes, pulling the strings.
Alouette is a complete bookworm and will read if she has time. If she isn't reading (or scheming), she quite enjoys drinking tea. Her love for books is so deep that it is dangerously close to bibliomania, but her winning obsession wins her over more.
Alouette is very ambitious. Alouette loves being in control, and has only one goal in mind to reach: the summit of rule. And to be on top, you have to win. Even if she looks like the quiet woman behind the leader from the outside, there's a possibility that she might be the leader all along. She wants to be the top, and will remove anything or anyone in her way. This means that she hates losing, and is determined not to taste defeat often. She is also a very smooth talker, and can be charming when she wants to. However, the obstacles on the path to her goals will end up crushed by her and she will feel no remorse. She always appear calm and elegant, but dark and deadly behind.
Picture:
Weaknesses: Her power is the manipulation of literature, which means that if she doesn't have a book handy, she's helpless as the young princess she is. This also means that she has very limited (non-existent) physical capabilities. Also, just as said about her powers, using it too constantly will cause a possible death. Her greatest weakness, however, is her arrogance and high expectations and standards. She mostly expects people to do what she says if she just try to be the charming little darling, and will throw a tantrum when things don't go her way and failed horribly. She hates the taste of defeat very much when she suffered from one from her parents. But other than those continuous defeats, she won many things. She respects her parents, and thinks that nobody is gonna defeat her except them. In short, Alouette losing to someone other than her parents can cause her a breakdown.
Strengths: Alouette has a pretty face and good figure, in which she isn't above using it to her advantage. She is also charming and knows how to get people to her side. Her forte, however, is her intelligence and is a master of schemes.
History & Family: Alouette was born in a remote European island where a kingdom is located. It's a fairly large kingdom, and is all around peaceful and quite famous for their several libraries in the kingdom, but the royal family has a secret: they all have the power to manipulate literature. Alouette's power has awakened at age five, and the whole family supported and trained her to have a better grasp with her powers.
Alouette grew up with her parents, two sisters and a brother. She is the second youngest of all the siblings, three years younger than Arlette, and eleven years older than the twins Phoenix and Phoebe. She has a rather...disturbing relationship with her family. With her parents, King Wren and Queen Aderyn, she cares for them as any daughter would at first, but she was taught by them to always win, which is why she's determined to get ahead of her siblings and inherit the throne herself. She wins at competitions and even challenges her parents, but still tasted defeat again and again, and decided to take it back again and again, believing that someday she'll win and take the throne. But first, she should beat her siblings. Alouette has a degree of concern for her younger siblings, but won't hesitate to remove them from her way. She also has a huge rivalry with Arlette because she could be the first choice for the heir, and both of them compete at everything. They have a very cold relationship and outright despise each other.
The first time she challenged her parents was when she was thirteen, but ultimately lost. That was her first taste of defeat, and made her even driven to victory. Every loss she had with her parents made her obsession with winning even stronger. This also made her much more rational but more dangerous.
In Character sample: Alouette took a sip from her tea as she waited for her 'dear sister' to talk. She smiled maliciously at Arlette while the older girl glared at her. "So..." she started. "Arlette, may I ask why would you call me out here for a tea party?" she asked menacingly, putting her teacup down. Her sister did the same and looked away, not liking to look at her sister's face.
"Father said that you'd finally attend Foresta Academy..." she informed her, and her brows furrowed in anger as a benign smile spread through Alouette's lip.
"You mean that school Father and Mother attended?" Alouette pretended to be surprised. "That school for gifted people like us?" She smirked as her mock-surprise seemed to annoy her older sister, and picked her cup and drank it.
She leaned down her seat and closed her eyes. "It was about time for them to send me there. That place is so interesting...maybe after graduating I can finally defeat them."
"Yeah, right, continue dreaming," Arlette snorted. "Seriously, out of us four, you really are persistent." Then she added as an afterthought. "Besides, I'll inherit the throne, I'm the eldest-"
Alouette interrupted her by slamming her cup down loud, but she didn't slam it enough to break.
"Sister..." she muttered. "Out of us four, you really are dumb."
"What?!"
"Didn't I said it before? I will inherit the throne, become queen of this kingdom and rule over it." She stood up and walked closer to Arlette. "While you, dear sister, will remain by the sidelines, helpless and can't do anything under my rule, cursing me behind my back, your heart full of jealousy and hatred for me, bitterly thinking how you could've been the one sitting on the throne instead of obeying my orders, while I'm perfectly happy, adored by people, barking commands to my subjects and relishing the fact that I have succeeded to the throne and beaten yo-"
SLAP!
Alouette seems to be unfazed by her reddened swollen cheek, but Arlette wasn't sure why she suddenly turned to the table and picked up her cup. She raised it up, then this time, dropped it to break. Arlette's eyes widened when Alouette suddenly gave a shout.
"ARLETTE! W-WHY?!" She shouted it like she really is in pain. So that's is her plan...
A few moments later, the servants and whole family came in their quarters to check what happened. It was obvious how Alouette made it look like Arlette slapped her own sister without provocation, but only to the older sister. She gritted her teeth as she was dragged away by her father.
Alouette, on the other hand, is being fussed over by her mother and some servants, but she is sending her sister a meaningful stare.
I will win.
