Full Name: Ignitis Delvian
Gender: Male
Age: 16
Power(s): Even at birth, Ignitis already had a subconscious feeling that he had one of his powers. When put into contact with any sort of metallic substance, it will be slowly absorbed into his body. Depending on the complexity of the atomic structure of the metal substance, that will be how painful and long it will take to absorb right into his body. However, afterwords the metallic material will be a part of him, and to Ignitis it feels just like a normal part of his body. (other than his nerve endings, which regularly annoy him.) Regularly, any plain metal will just stay on top of his skin, acting like a shell. Of course, if anything is bigger than the average hand, Ignitis can't absorb it, so coming into contact with a metal building won't turn him into Godzilla or something. If the material is toxic, it will unfortunately plague him until it is removed.
Though it is pretty much at the top levels of absorption (and pain) that Delvian can handle, he can also absorb simple electronics. By that, anything along the list of a motor, or perhaps hydraulic. Anything advanced as a computer is too high for his current skill with the abortion. These simple electronics will enhance Ignitis's physical form or mental capabilities. For example, a calculator will improve his cognitive abilities some, and a hydraulic might increase his strength. However, as a drawback, the electronics need to run on something, which Ignitis believes is his “life-energy.” Whenever he overuses the electronics, he tends to pass out. Batteries and solar panels tend not to be very effective, only giving him 8% of the energy from the solar panel/battery. Plus, he then has to somehow cut out the useless empty batteries, which is obviously very annoying.
So, soon after, Delvian discovered his second power. When in contact with an electric flow, he can take the electric energy from that source. This extra energy helps to both power his electronics, and himself. Of course, he can only handle certain amounts of power at a time, and when a source is too rapid it will fry him like a toad hit by lightning. Also, Ignitis needs a place to store the energy, which is most often batteries that he has to then implant onto his skin. Along with this, if he ever wanted to put energy back into a source, Ignitis can also put energy the other way around, back into something.
Note that even though it appears that he can turn the electrical energy into life-energy inside of his body, he can't transfer life energy back into somebody through this second power. Ignitis can only transfer the energy into electronics.
Appearance: Ignitis started out actually looking normal, but as his life went on he became more and more deformed. All of his hair has been and is continually shaved off, though sometimes a little bit of brown sometimes pops up on his head. The skin that covers his body has an odd gray color, a side-effect from his first power. His head itself is very round, not including the various extremities poking out of it. Ignitis has very brown eyes, though he is thinking about putting permanent lenses over them. Delvian's mouth almost never comes out of the thin frown that it constantly seems to be in.
The parts on Ignitis's head include a half-working calculator, and various pieces of scrap-metal that are used as a sort of permanent helmet. Some of the scrap-pieces are rusting, a bad problem Delvian is attempting to fix though hasn't found a solution to. Wires are oddly strewn across his head not exactly connected to anything, though a few are connected to the calculator.
Overall, his body looks withering and frail. Without his basically cyborg parts, Ignitis would probably not even be able to walk. His back is a little hunched over from the weight on his body. There are weird gadgets and wires strewn all across his chest and back, including the random motor or metal water container.
For his clothes, he usually wears a thick, brown robe. Not exactly being able to wear regular clothes, what he does underneath this robe is stitch together pieces of cloth that he finds around, mostly from towels. Thus, in order to prevent possible embarrassment, Ignitis always wears the robe when he is in public. He mostly wears the robe to hide most of the augments on his body.
Personality: Ignitis isn't a friendly person at all. Very antisocial, he believes himself to be superior to anybody else who doesn't have any sort of enchantments like himself. For example, if one with the powers to light things on fire came walking by, Delvian would probably remark on how their fire powers are useless in real life against cold substances, or how compared to Ignitis's cybernetic attachments they are nothing.
Not really caring about raising or lowering his voice in order to save his energy, he speaks in a monotone voice all the time, except for the rare moments when he actually receives large amounts of emotion. In pair with his sarcastic attitude about pretty much everything, he sounds a bit like some stereotype horrible teacher. It helps really grind against people's ears. Plus, he speaks rather like a computer, partly to save energy but mostly just to annoy others even more.
Also, due to his lack of friends, he spends much of his time reading a book or searching the internet for something interesting. Due to this, Ignitis is an intelligent person, and he also takes this into account when comparing himself to other people. If one is less intelligent than himself, he will immediately believe that such person will get nowhere in live, is a failure, etc.
The real truth is that the only reason Ignitis seeks to verbally abuse people is that he is rather insecure with himself. Unlike others who are born naturally handsome or beautiful, he was born a monstrosity. Thus, by putting others down, he makes himself feel better. Putting himself in an infinite chain of making people feel bad, making people hate him, making enemies, then not being able to make friends, Ignitis is admittedly lonely.
Last, Delvian enjoys making himself perfect. When he isn't being a jerk or studying, he is actually just tinkering with the various gadgets on himself. Perhaps it is due to having so much time because of no social life, but he enjoys doing it. Think of it as an obsessive habit, as he doesn't exactly need to spend too much time doing it. “I'm already perfect, no need for more augments at this time.”
Picture: It would be really hard to find a picture, so no.
Weaknesses: Due to all to all of the equipment on him, Ignitis is a slowpoke for most of the time. Though he can sprint forwards in short bursts once and awhile, in general he isn't going to be on the track-team. Diseases and illness hit him very badly. Instead of his immune system attempting to fight off the virus/bacteria, his body sees the virus/bacteria as something to absorb and attempts to spread it throughout the body. The common cold makes it almost impossible for Ignitis to leave his room. Any water or liquid attack will actually begin to break him down due to all of the rusty metal that he has placed on himself. He really hates water if he isn't drinking it. As mentioned before, Ignitis is quite socially deprived. This bothers him to no end, but he doesn't even want to admit it to himself. Last, Ignitis isn't actually really good at either of his powers. The transferring of power isn't very effective, and absorbing seems to take ages. Plus, his first power comes with a bucket-load of pain.
Strengths: Even though all of that heavy equipment on him will slow Ignitis down, it will also give him extreme strength. He can lift tables with little effort, and up to the point of cars he can push and pull things aside. Intelligence is one of Delvian's strong points in which he likes showing off once and awhile. Usually, he gets about an A, though he may get lower if he doesn't try very much which is rather unusual. Due to lots of experience, Ignitis's very monotone voice combined with his nasty insults is great at getting people irritated, and with persistence can really normally make somebody fume with anger.
With his power coming with a lot of pain, he has grown rather pain resistant. Though it doesn't stop him from yelping in pain from a bullet, it does make him rather more durable.
History & Family: When Ignitis was born, his mother actually screamed at the hideous thing that lied before her. With dark gray skin, the screaming and crying baby ahead of her didn't really seem to be human at all. Starting off with a rough relationship with his family of a mother, a father, and two older brothers, things didn't really go well. Instead of attempting to incorporate his specialties into the family, he was kept as a sort of 'outsider.'
In family meals, he was always the person to oddly sit on the couch near the kitchen table. On special occasions when other distant relatives randomly decided to visit, the poor boy was told to stay in his room for the entire encounter. Another example is when Ignitis demanded to do some chores to be useful in the house, then was declined because he may have been seen through the windows. The only time that Ignitis was seen in public was in a private school, but even then there was only one to two other students.
Ironically, this technically saved him. By almost never being seen in public, no private researcher or the government itself aren't very interested in capturing and studying Ignitis. Meanwhile, other children at the time were being captured left and right, as evident from some of the students at Foresta academy.
Not knowing this at the time, at the age of 13 the cyborg-boy was finally fed up with his secluded life, and let out his previously contained rage on his parents. Knowing his ability to absorb metallic substances and metals, he had an idea. Secretly, he went out to the junkyard across his town, and began fiddling and upgrading himself about every night.
Of course, keeping something like that secret for a long time would be pretty much impossible, and he was discovered by his parents. In hindsight, he really should have seen it coming, but through his anger he didn't see the stupidity of his plan. This led him to believe that most emotions were a waste of time and energy.
This lead to a heated, multiple-day argument that ended up with Ignitis finally running away from his home, and going to live at the junkyard. His parents, being stuck with the choice of being revealed to have a monster as a child or to bring back an angry bull, they chose to leave Ignitis at the junkyard (they knew he was there) and wait for him to come home. Delvian never did, and as he thought about it he was more and more sure that they were just jealous of his power, and it wasn't that they thought he was a freak.
Eventually, Ignitis decided that he was perfect, and that all of mankind would tremble before people like him, who could bind with electronics to be perfect. Yet, through all of this, he still felt like he was missing something. Something.. very important.
He came to Foresta when he just had an innate sense to do so by boat, even though he really hates boats. By then, he had been spending many years by himself in the junkyard, being entertained off of random books he finds lying around and stealing some other forms of entertainment. Not exactly knowing why he came, here he is now.
In Character sample:
With a series of whurrs and clinks, Ignitis slowly rose from his 'bed.' Grabbing his robe and putting it on, he proceeded to shake his head, attempting to wake up further. Soon, his vision cleared, and around him lay the small shelter he built in the scrapyard around him. It wasn't really a good home to live in, but Ignitis knew that its shabby looks would be a good camouflage for any outsider.
Sluggishly pacing towards a nearby table that was actually made out of some sort of plastic, the half-metal man grabbed a dried food bar and began munching it down. Making a mental note on how it tasted rather like a dried boot, he finished it, dropping the wrapper on the ground. It WAS a junkyard, so Delvian allowed himself to throw out the trash wherever he pleases.
Feeling his stomach grumble in thanks for the sustenance, Ignitis walked up to the 'door', which was really just a rather large piece of cardboard covering the entrance. Moving it out of the way, light flooded into the shelter, making the junkyard-dweller wince. Along with water, Ignitis really, really hated unexpected light. Being used to the darkness didn't help with getting random lights shined in your eyes.
As always, he felt awful both physically and mentally. His argument with his family has both made him feel guilty and furious at the exact same time. While he really didn't need to run away from them, Ignitis still felt that his parents didn't understand him at all. Why did they have to constantly treat him like a monster, like a freak? Staring woefully at the random gears and motors stuffed into his body, he knew the answer.
Physically, the answer was simple. Having metal in your body, even if your body doesn't instantly die of infection, causes the nerve endings to go crazy. Ignitis read up on pain pills, but it turns out at the rate at which he would have to use them would cause him to be addicted, and Delvian really didn't want to go to the pharmacy to steal some pain-pills. Instead, Ignitis had to deal with the pain.
After getting used to the searing light, he stepped outside and took a deep breath, the familiar horrid stench of decomposing materials floating into his nose. Shuffling forwards, he began his usual daily search for anything useful in the junkyard he called home. Anything, such as a broken motor or a leaking oil canister, could be fixed with enough pressure and heat.
Over time, one couldn't help to get bored by hanging around the junkyard for extended amounts of times, and Ignitis found himself almost incredibly bored by just picking out some pieces of hardware or scrap. Sighing, he sat down right on an uncomfortable looking pile of scrap, and began to think about his situation.
Here he was, in the middle of nowhere in a junkyard filled with.. well, junk. His entire family probably hated him at this point, and he had absolutely nowhere to go. Meanwhile, he had this crazy obsession of trying to make himself perfect by attaching more and more metal to himself. Hah, from the view of an outsider, he would be absolutely mental.
An outsider. A normal person.
Oh, how Ignitis wished to be normal. He didn't want to be a freak, he wanted to be a normal boy who could go anywhere he wished without being stared at, and he wante--
No. Ignitis reminded himself he was perfect, and carried on with collecting scrap.
