It had been about a week or so since Jenna and Soren had last seen each other and the sylph was more than wondering what Soren was up too. It was during that week though that the woman had been trying her hardest to work on the repairs for the tavern, despite all of the destruction though it struck her odd that the tavern owner seemed to be completely relaxed about the whole thing. She couldn't help but wonder what the old man was up too and though her thoughts had been focused on the tavern for quite awhile eventually they had drifted over to Soren and the kiss that they had shared.
With the kiss though, Jenna briefly thought about Cade - chewing her lower lip in apprehension. They were bound to come across each other at some point in time if he continued to teach at the school and live on this island, because she knew for sure she wasn't planning on going anywhere. The hurt though that most people would associate with losing someone they cared about didn't last as long on Jenna though. She was immortal after all and a fairy at that, she had already spent a life time with a human before and she knew now that she would stop trying to put herself in those types of situations.
Walking up to Soren's door, while her wings briefly moved closer to her. Jenna let her knuckles connect with the door, only doing it a few times before stepping back and waiting to see if the the were-dragon she was looking for would answer.

Soren had been napping- this past week had been rough. He threw himself into work to avoid thinking about the kiss he'd shared with Jenna (twice now, since it was more than obvious that the glass piece in his study was the evidence of their first kiss)even though he was pretty sure he'd be able to deal with this on some levels if he chose to do so.
So, after a muffled thud, a groan, and some heavy footfalls, he arrived at the door. He opened it, saying, "I apologize, I must have overs- Oh, it's you." His hair stuck up in odd angles and his white wifebeater and loose basketball shorts indicated that he wasn't expecting any sort of company. "You're here to talk about what happened last week? Come on in." He rubbed the back of his head, which did nothing for his messy hair.
He stepped aside and gestured at the entryway, indicating that she should head on in. Reddish-blonde stubble graced his jaw and chin, hiding just a little of the crease marks his couch had left during his nap. "Ah... how have you been?"

Jenna was surprised as Soren opened up the door, looking something besides immaculate now. His casual wear was enough for her to stare at him and let out a small "Oh." As he offered for her to come in. Stepping inside, the fairy took in the surroundings of his house despite the fact that she had already been there several times before. "Me? I... uh, I've been fine. Confused mostly since the destruction of the tavern." Jenna offered Soren a look then, attempting to see how he would react to her mentioning her place of work. "And you? Are you doing alright?" the question itself seemed innocent enough, but the expression she put behind it suggest the woman was looking for more than she was going to get.

Soren closed the door after she entered, and turned the lock with a soft click. It wasn't as though he was intentionally trying to keep her from leaving, but after a second's thought... he realized that he might have ulterior motives behind the 'security'.
He paused when she mentioned the tavern being destroyed. A confused look crossed his face and he completely ignored her follow-up question. "Destroyed? Did I do that?" He rubbed the back of his head, closing his eyes in an attempt to remember anything through the haze that had followed their kiss. He couldn't, but he had woken up in the middle of the forest, surrounded by ash. It was obvious that something had happened to set him off.
He ran a palm over his coarse jaw and, after a pause, said, "I'll pay for the damages. Sorry I broke your bar." A moment of shocked silence overtook him. Did he... just apologize for something? Furthermore, did he just apologize for doing something he couldn't even remember?!

She should have known that Soren wouldn't remember anything from the tavern, at least that's what she thought to herself. It was hard to remember if Nikolai retained any of his memory after a dragon shift and even at that Jenna couldn't ever re-call any moment in time that she had been around him as he had shifted into a dragon. "Yes, you did." Jenna replied quite simply with pursed lips. As Soren apologized to her, Jenna couldn't help but let her jaw drop this time - closing some distance between them to look more carefully into his eyes. "What's gotten into you?" Jenna asked him then with a surprising amount of familiarity. It really wasn't like she was trying to get up in his business, but they were well past the point of small talk.
"Just so you know, a human I was involved with provoked you. Then when I managed to get you out of the tavern you turned and I had to bait you away from the port. You should be thanking me above everything else." Jenna smirked at Soren then, glancing down at her nails momentarily checking to see if there was any dirt beneath them. It wasn't like she had been completely immune to what had happened between them at the tavern, this kiss in itself had in truth been a wake up call for her. What kind of call though, she wasn't quite sure of yet.

Soren shrugged, his blue eyes darkening a little bit as he looked at her. "I think I know..." was his vague answer to her first question as he reached out and caressed her lower lip with his thumb. He dropped his hand shrugging at her explanation of why he shifted. "That does sound like something that would happen."
He heaved a dramatic sigh, rolling his eyes. "Thank you for preventing me from destroying what would have been a good swath of the town and port." In that moment, he was back to his old self again and he collapsed onto the couch he'd been sleeping on. "I'll send somebody over to get a quote for the repairs. Did your employer have insurance? With the school so close by, I'm willing to bet he has some kind of policy that covers him against rogue Gifteds."
A moment later, he looked at her again, a sly smile tugging at the edge of his mouth. "Wait... 'was involved with'? Does that mean you're done with him?" He drank in her appearance, jumping to a conclusion he rather liked as to her motivations for coming to see him.

The brief moment that Soren had touched her lips had caused the air fairy to take a step back, despite how much she had enjoyed it. His quick return to his old self though had the sylph relaxing just as fast as she had tensed up from before. "He does, you'll have to talk to him directly about it though. I haven't involved myself to much in his business affairs quite yet." She needed to start doing so and soon though, that was if she wanted to own the tavern at all. Despite the fact that Soren was already making himself comfortable in his own home, Jenna had decided to stay standing- with her wings slowly lowering from their protective stance around her.
Folding her arms across her chest as Soren smiled, Jenna shook her head and looked away from the dragon for a moment. "It seems as if I always have a habit of forgetting that mortals are much more emotional about their desired one's being involved with other people than immortals are." It didn't help really that she had phrased it in a manner that made her seem like she was less at fault.

Soren waved a dismissive hand at the prospect of going to talk to her boss. "I'll have somebody see to it." He picked up his smartphone from the table and sent out a terse, rapid text. That done, he slipped the device into one of his pockets. "There. Expect the matter to be resolved within a couple hours, as long as your employer is willing to cooperate."
He laced his fingers behind his head, smirking at her phrasing. "I suppose you could never truly understand the transience. You were never mortal, were you?" For a moment, just a split-second, he seemed to be very far away. Then he ruined the moment by laughing. "As a mortal protecting what was mine, I would have gone to great lengths." He eyed her slyly. "Still would. Old habits die hard."
The were-dragon closed his eyes and commented, "You don't seem particularly broken up about this. Does that mean you're ready to move on to more substantial fare?"

Jenna resisted the urge to roll her eyes at Soren's easy use of today's technology. "He'll probably be mad about the destruction, but if you're offering to fix it there shouldn't be a problem." Soren's mention of the fact that Jenna had never been mortal in the first place caught the air fairy off guard briefly. "Just because I've never experienced it doesn't mean I would lack the ability to understand." She shook her head then, growing restless and taking a few steps deeper into the room that Soren was in.
His mention of protecting his own didn't surprise her, after all it was in a dragon's nature to be protective and possessive. "I see what you're doing and it's not going to work. Just because I don't look it I am allowing myself to grieve in my own time." Jenna paused for a moment, folding her arms across her chest "Have you never felt any urge to grieve for a loss before?"

Soren shrugged, having dismissed the matter of the tavern already. He was focused on the other aspects of their conversation. "Sure, you might be able to understand on surface level, but your perspective is never going to be able to take on the struggle these mortals go through. Day-to-day, there's always some measure of desperate racing against a deadline that creeps closer with every passing breath." He was smiling, but his eyes gazed at her with an odd mixture of sternness and memory. He laughed. "So your understanding will always be cold and lacking in whatever connection mortals crave." Here, he chuckled low, the deep sound rolling unconvincingly in his lungs before lingering in the air between them.
Soren shrugged again, a cavalier attitude replacing the odd one from before. He smirked at her. "I can be patient. You'll come to know that very well." He rose to his feet when the doorbell rang in annoying interruption. His laugh this time around seemed genuine. "You must be joking if you think I'm capable of such an emotion. Dragon's don't get sad, we get even." He rounded the bend and pulled the door open, his head angled more to talk to Jenna than to greet his new guest.
Therefore, the punch that flew through the threshold landed with a solid crack against his face. He was surprised, but reeled back and threw himself at his assailant. They grappled on the ground, each seeking the better position but finding themselves very closely matched.

For a moment, as Soren described mortals connection with time Jenna felt as if her heart ached to reach out to the were-dragon. She desperately wanted to understand, but she knew that she never really would no matter how long she lived with mortals. The heart ache quickly faded though as the man laughed at the idea of being sad, figures. "You were human once, you have more of a connection to-" Jenna quickly stopped talking as Soren opened up the door, which lead to a punch connecting with his face. The air fairy's jaw dropped for a moment, all the way up until she realized who the attacker was. "Jonathan! What are you doing?" A sudden rush of air came into the house as the sylph spoke, her wings opening up wide as if to welcome the wind. In the next few seconds the air grew powerful enough to split the two men, briefly forcing them on either side of the hallway.

The dragons didn't appreciate being separated, not at first. Both were in different stages of the Shift. Nikolai had horns protruding significantly from his scalp, half of his visible skin scaled-over. Soren, on the other hand, looked faintly bluish. Both men's eyes blazed and the hallway was already cloudy with the smoke they were breathing out.
Of the two, Soren calmed first. He offered Jenna an apologetic smile, rubbing the back of his head in mock-awkwardness. "I'm afraid I wasn't expecting guests. I would have made some kind of effort if I had known so many people from my past would show up on my doorstep today. Maybe a cheese platter or something."
Nikolai, on the other hand, was still breathing out smoke even as his opponent visibly calmed down. His eyes were locked on Soren, and the only indication that he registered Jenna's question was the fact that he didn't immediately leap at him again. Instead, he growled, "You [untranslatable]. How dare you."
Soren arched an eyebrow at Nikolai, smirking at the older dragon. "Such language! Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?" He laughed at the dark joke, showing off his sharper teeth.

Jenna stood back from the two were-dragons, after all there was only so much she could do. If they were going to fight though, Jenna suspected that at least Soren preferred it to be outside of his house. Letting the air die down just a bit in the house, the sylph hoped that Nikolai wouldn't jump at Soren once more. It was unlike the older dragon, but there had to have been something that set him off. Having missed what Nikolai had said to Soren before, Jenna frowned briefly - preparing to split them up once more. "Instead of fighting, how about talk out whatever problem is going on?" the woman finally suggested.

Soren grinned at Jenna, saying, "What a mature solution to our issue here. Thank you." It was only slightly sarcastic, since he meant it more as a dig at Nikolai. He returned his attention to Nikolai, leaning against the wall of his foyer insolently. "Yes, Jonathan, what's your problem?"
Nikolai seethed. While Soren's signs of the Shift were receding and he already looked more or less normal, Nikolai seemed stuck mid-Shift. He ground out, "You know what you did. Speak to her again and I will kill you." Nikolai's tone brooked no argument and his irises still blazed with amber fire.
Soren laughed again, shaking his head at the other dragon. "You can try. Maybe you'll succeed where you've failed before."
Nikolai turned his attention to Jenna, a look of dark betrayal on his face. "What are you doing here?"

The short words between the two of them caused Jenna's brows to rise just a bit into her forehead. Speak to her again? It was then that Jenna recalled an interaction between Soren and her just a few weeks ago. Plus, it wasn't like Nikolai was talking about her - it was obvious he was talking about another woman. Was it that woman in charge of the school? Jenna's jaw practically dropped as the air fairy started to connect what was going on. Practically stomping over Soren, the fairy sent a swift kick to the were-dragon. "Of course, Nikolai wouldn't be here without a reason. You're just the same as ever." With that Jenna turned to Nikolai briefly, "I did have business with him, but not anymore. Feel free to destroy his house."
With that, Jenna stormed out of the house, almost messing up Soren's door frame in the process. It figured that the only thing that would matter to Soren would be ruining Nikolai's life. How come she had even thought there was anything different about him in the first place?
