Name: Like a Dove in flight Mallick
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Power(s): She has the ability to create illusions. She finds it easier to create on a mirrored surface, or a flat surface. The most she's ever done was to create a mirror image of herself that looked exactly like her and didn't even shimmer. She has a problem with shimmering illusions also. Though it doesn't take much energy to create, stabilizing it and continuing the picture takes a lot of work. She hasn't had any other troubles with her power, but she experimenting with making larger, more still illusions and making many at the same time. She hasn't made much progress, but she's still working on it.
Appearance: Dove is dark skinned and has shorter, thick, black hair. She has brown eyes and long lashes. she is 5-6, shorter than most girls her age, but not so much so. She has a problem with her sight. She got it last year when she woke up with a strange blurry spot in her right eye. As the year went by, it got gradually worse. She went to the doctor and they said by the end of two years she would be completely blind in her right eye. Dove wears colorful shirts, mostly anything that's comfortable, but no matter what she wears she seems to shine in it. She wear short cutoff jeans, shorts and anything else that is short or airy. She wears dresses and skirts often, but not as much as she used to. Her shoes are mostly made up of sandals, flip flops or any other sandal like shoe. She hardly wears any sweaters or coats, as she has never really been bothered by semi extreme heat or cold. She likes to wear her hair in braids with feathers, or some other trinkets that "looked nice" that day. She wears a small dream catcher on a leather strip with anything she wears, and refuses to take it off. Even at night, she ties it around her bed post. She also likes to dye her bangs and the strips of hair that frame her face. She likes purples and reds, but anything works for her.
She has a lot of tattoos of her left leg below her knee. Mostly tribal, Indiana and mythological stuff. She isn't "superstitious" as most people says, she's just fascinated with the culture of indian and native american "mythology".
Personality: Dove is a very stable calm girl. She likes to have the position of leader, and likes to be in control of most situations. She is down to earth, a realist, but can be rather optimistic. She has no trouble day dreaming, but does not encourage unrealistic fantasies. She is graceful and steadfast, fiercely loyal with a big heart. She doesn't trust easily, but has an easy time making friends. She is outgoing and nice, but doesn't like to talk about herself or her personal life. She has a small comfort zone, a hamster ball or bubble if you will. She is a people person, and cannot stay alone for to long. She likes to dance and paint. She has spent a lot of time researching indian ceremonial dances, and likes to dance them. She hates modern art, and doesn't understand the appeal. She is absolutely hates the pop culture, modern anything and also rude and racist people. She is half native american herself and hates to see anyone bullied. She will stand up for what she thinks is right, no matter if the whole world opposes her.
Defying the truth, even though the facts are blatantly true, and stiff necked people are things that will cause her to blow up in your face if you do either. She will not stand for injustice, and she has an abhorrence for hypocrisy.
She has a rebellious streak, and is an adventurer at heart. Most of her rebellious spirit is from her controlled past. Sure she was ambled to do whatever she wanted, but only in her own house and land. There was no going to a college that was in a different county or town, no driving out to friends houses that lived over 20 minutes away.
All of that closure and almost oppressive lifestyle drove her to wanting more. Wanting to be different, to be noticed. It has tapered off a bit now that she's older, but the heart is hard to change even when promises are made.
Dove isn't quite what you would call a "rule breaker", but If she finds and "unnecessary rule", she will avoid it all together. Things like; Boys on one side, girls on the other, Doesn't make sense to her, so she will ignore the rule.
There hasn't been many rules that she has come a crossed to "break" or ignore, but she is still noted for that kind of behavior.
The only fears Dove has are of failure. She always had to be at the top, to somehow prove herself. If she fails in anything, she will blame herself in extremes. When she was younger, she used to cut herself when she would get something wrong. Her father helped her though that part of her life, but she has never really gotten over the horrible feeling of failure. She will go to a lot of trouble for the person she has failed or let down, she will do anything for them to make things right. It's really the only thing she has a big problem with.
Picture(optional):
Weaknesses: Her blindness in her right eyes inhibits her reading and writing, also anything else that requires almost perfect eyesight. She avoids talking about her personal issues or anything directed to her, which can be a problem with "deep" friends. Lucky for her, she has had only one.
Strengths: Dove is strong physically and she is also calm in any danger. She is also very lithe and athletic, doing a lot of running and hefting when she worked on her farm in Nevada.
History/Family: Dove found herself at age 10 standing in the middle of a street, in Nevada. She didn't even know who she was, let alone where she was or why. She was rescued and adopted by an indian couple a few days later, after walking into a library and falling asleep, soon to be found by the librarian: her mother.
Dove was named Like a dove in flight because of her gracefulness and ability to ride. She spent almost all of her time riding on their small farm, learning almost everything she needed to learn about horses in only a few years. She Found her powers out by herself one day. When she was riding, she took a break near a small stream.
She took out her notepad, which she used to write her thoughts in, and looked at the cover. She started day dreaming about horses and her dream horse. She was content with her old gelding, but she wanted something more. Sure enough, the cover of her notebook shimmered to life as a small projection of a red mustang mare stood tall and wavering in the wind. The illusion swiftly fled, and she was astounded. What had happened? She told her father and mother, who were both surprised, but didn't seem to have any adverse retains. They weren't special themselves, but they supported in her practices. She has never been to anyplace other than Nevada, but she is the adventures type, so she wasn't homesick when she left for the school.
To this day, Dove never knew how she got on that road or what her real name was. Nor even if she had another life, family, friends, anything. It's all a lost memory.
In Character sample: Dove stood and stretched, popping her neck and back. She had been sitting on the ground for a long time writing her thoughts in her notebook. She felt a connection to the leather-bound pages, and even though it was absurd to think it, she did think it was a special thing. After all, she had discovered her powers on the very cover!
Dove sighed. It was at times like these her mind began to wander.
Who was she? Where had she come from? She knew mom and dad weren't her real parents, nor that they knew who her real parents were. They could be lying…Oh stop it Dove! She thought to herself, slapping her forehead. Mom and dad would never lie to me. Sometimes she would invent a whole different life for herself. she didn't consider it a fantasy, because it could'v happened. She was born into a large family, living in Nevada, but then sickness struck and she had lost her emory in fever. Her family had loved her though in her thoughts. She also had friend. Lost of them. Not like now, where she had to prove herself everyday to keep one friend. She shrugged. It wasn't like she was going anywhere soon. Might as well get used to it.
Dove got to her horse and stroked his nose. Maybe someday I'l know.
Gaardis simply whinnied and tossed his head lightly. Dove grinned and mounted. "Come one Gaardis, lets run!" She called.
Then they were off.
