((Well, here we go. Hope you enjoy reading this.))
Full Name: Umbra “Ferret” Kayyali
Gender: Female
Age: 15
Power(s): Umbra, simply put, has the ability to turn different intensities of invisibility, from a mild transparency to a full on invisibility. Of course, this effect carries on to any clothing, or item(s) that she is carrying along with her. The effect is not powerful enough to attach to other life forms without all of her energy being drained in a rather short period of time. Speaking of energy, this invisibility does require a bit of energy, but it is a very low amount at first. Only when the user of this power begins to use it all day, does it begin to be a problem. If Umbra uses this power too much, she will at first be completely exhausted, which she usually is at the end of the day. If she passes a certain line of using her power too much for a day, she will collapse on the spot into a coma, which could vary from simply a day, to years and years of eternal sleep. With the power to change different intensities of invisibility, by fear of going into a coma, she will automatically lower her transparency when cloaked in darkness. This uses a lot less of her energy. There are many practical uses for this ability, from hiding, all the way up to stealing people's watches. In exchange for such a great ability, Umbra really has no means to fight against offensive magical users. No magical water to combat those flames about to consume you. Last for this section, if anything can sense heat, or sound, then it can detect Umbra if she is invisible, such as a camera, or a student's ability.
Along with her invisibility power, she is able to project simple copies of herself to fool people of her actual location, within reasonable range. Projections created by Umbra can do simple actions, such as waving, walking slowly in one direction, etc. These copies are, however, just illusions; if you tried to touch one, you would be able to find that your hand would go right through it. This works in synergy with her invisibility, as when she finds a good spot, she can deactivate her transparency, then produce a fake version of herself to distract any pursuer, unless they can realize it is simply an illusion. Umbra could then simply run in the other direction. However, these copies take a lot of energy, so she doesn't use it a lot, only in emergencies. This is why she is forced to lower her invisibility level, as if she used both at the same time, she probably wouldn't be able to use any of her powers for the rest of the day, and would collapse soon after that moment, falling asleep.
These powers have effected Umbra's life spectacularly; when she first found her powers, she badly abused them, mastering the art of sneakiness and shadows at a young age. Umbra was born with it, meaning as soon as she could begin thinking, she could at least have minor control. Now, she still constantly uses this power, even in public places where she has no reason to actually stay unseen. This, as explained before, does leave her exhausted in her bed, making her sleeping like a log. Only at occasional times, or when she does not feel like stealing anything, is when she decides not to be invisible. Other times where she does not use this ability is when she will get in trouble for being invisible, like in a school, though she will still sneak around if there is no authority watching.
Appearance: Umbra is 5'1 feet tall, about average for her age. Her skin looks unhealthily pale, due to how little sun she gets per day, and it seems she has little to no muscle on her bones, not very healthy. However, Umbra is very happy with this, as less body mass she has, the less energy it takes to use her invisibility. As faces go, her face is in the shape of an oval, and is accompanied by brownish black short hair falling down to her ears. Umbra has a small nose, almond-shaped-eyes, and a regularly sized set of ears. When you look at the expression on her face, it is usually a smile. Clothes that she enjoy wearing are normally very comfortable, and most importantly, black. This helps her blend into the shadows, plus, her favorite color is black. Umbra prefers to wear robes with a hood, so she can cover her face, but if it is inconvenient, she simply wears some jeans, along with a T-Shirt and a black jacket. Makeup is not for Umbra, and she simply doesn't like it, so she doesn't wear any.
Personality: Though Umbra's ability may be focused on shadows and stealth, her personality is in sharp contrast of this. Most of the time, she seems to be filled to the brim with happiness and cheerfulness. In fact, she is so happy most of the time, it tends to infect other people. Umbra enjoys friends, (whom she will not steal from), and likes people. She is mostly nice to people, if you don't count stealing items to be mean, along with the occasional tricks she pulls on them. Umbra is a comedian at heart, always trying to make people laugh. The thief side of her is strange, natural to her from a young age due to both her past life, and her power. Umbra doesn't quite know how to get rid of this, but it's fun, so she doesn't really care, and keeps stealing things. Her hobbies include being a small-scale thief, reading in her free time, trying new things and exploring, etc. Now, we discuss the times that she is not happy. When Umbra is angry and/or sad, it is usually due to her past, and with her family. It is her only true hatred, and these bursts of anger are the times when she remembers about her past, though Umbra does try to cover up her often random bursts of anger and sadness. The truth is, she acts so happy in part to cover up her past, which she is not proud of.
Weaknesses: Umbra is actually really quite pathetic in unarmed combat. Due to how thin she is, she does not really have any power under her her punches, and can easily be overpowered. I will give an example: Let us say that Umbra really failed badly at stealing something, and now, this person has lifted his fists, throws a punch right at Umbra's face. She will attempt to block, but will fail, ending up on the floor, and hurt. Also, Umbra is bad at dealing with pain, and having too much of it will make it impossible for her to use her powers. Though she is experienced with it due to her past, she never got used to the sharp sensation of pain. Due to having powers that have to do with illusions, she has no defense at all against any sort of magic attack. Once you know where she is, Umbra is very vulnerable to being attacked by magical flames and such. Lastly, once you are her friend, she will trust you with her life. At first, this may seem like a good thing, but this makes her very easy to betray.
Strengths: Umbra is very quick on her feet, most likely from her strict diet, and practice from sneaking her entire life. This is a great advantage to have, as she can slither around crowds, rarely touching anybody. Also, physically, she is, put simply, 'cute', giving her about a split second for an escape from most male pursuers, which is not a lot of time, but still, it gives an advantage. Also, along with being quick on her feet, she is quick with her mind. By this, I mean she is smart, and enjoys to read books in her free time. However, remember I said that she was at unarmed combat, and this is because at a young age, she was given gun training. If given a gun, she has the necessary skills to shoot and kill a target, though she will only kill people trying to kill her.
History/Family: Umbra was born on a small town at the eastern coast of Florida, on July 23rd, 1998. This birth, however, was not a very happy one. A week few weeks before, her father got drunk, crashed and was killed in a car accident. The life of a lawyer can be very stressful, and sometimes, a drink or so doesn't seem too bad, until you foolishly get into a car on the way home from work, crash, and die. Umbra's mom grieved, all the way up to the birth, but didn't survive to see her baby. Due to unfortunate events, her mom also passed away due to complications at birth. What was left was a tiny baby, that oddly seemed to somehow disappear in the doctor's hands on multiple occasions. It slept a lot, and even sometimes even there seemed to be two versions of the baby, one fake and one real.
This creepy baby was soon taken out of the hospital, and into an adoption center. She didn't even have a name, yet she was up for adoption anyways. This baby, being seen as some sort of mutant freak baby, was not adopted for a long time, until finally, somebody saw the potential. She was taken, legally of course, and was named Umbra Kayyali by her new owners. 'Umbra' is Latin for shadow, and Kayyali is simply the last name. However, good news doesn't start from here, as her owners weren't, to say the least, nice people. Sure, they were rich, but they exploited Umbra from the start. They didn't treat her like a daughter, but a resource to work with. However, they did educate her, developing her interest for books.
Years passed, and eventually, she was nine years old. For her ninth birthday, she got a pistol, and was taught how to use it. Umbra was confused why she was getting this, but she thought that since her parents were rich, this would probably be for personal defense. Of course, she was wrong, very wrong. Due to her thin body, she was forced to work on her muscles so she could deal with the recoil of the gun. Umbra absolutely was furious about this, being forced to exercise but there was nothing she could do. She knew her new parents, and knew that they would punish her if she did not comply.
Umbra killed her first and only person at her 11th birthday, a man they pulled off the streets. She felt awful, ending a life, but as told by her new parents, “Gotta learn to kill, so you're not killed.” This really scarred her for life, and at the times when she thinks about it, the girl is sickened with herself. A few months after this, she went by the alias 'Ferret', and went on a spree of thievery at multiple small stores, to perhaps both give her parents presents to distract her from the topic of killing people, and to keep her mind off of her murder. Oddly, at first, she resented doing it, but as she did it again, again, and again.. Umbra began to enjoy it, a lot. The thrill of sneaking in, and stealing things right under the cashier's nose, then returning to her fake parents and giving her the goods and/or money. Being invisible was fun.
This repeated all the way up to her 14th birthday, and she was happy. That's when they stepped up her thievery, giving her the pistol and expecting her to hold people at gunpoint on the street. Apparently, this was a test, and she failed, badly. It ended up with her smashing into a car, staying in the hospital for what seemed to be forever., until she finally got out. She went to court, but was bailed out by her parents, perhaps an act of mercy. Instead of being punished, she was simply given a bag of luggage, and kicked out, but not before she stole a credit card. Perhaps she could actually spend it on something before it was canceled? By then, Umbra had reached 15 years old, having had her birthday in the hospital, and was about on her first or second day of wandering the streets of her hometown, until she felt something strange, a sense of belonging. It was in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, however, but.. anything is possible with a credit card filled with money. She bought a trip to this here island, and hoped for the best. Umbra vowed that she would try to ignore her past, and accept the new.

Umbra Kayyali ran. Oh yes, she did run, her two legs propelling her forwards, a desperate and daring try to escape from the siren. Adrenaline pumped through her veins, fueling her muscles as they screamed in an attempt to go faster. Eyes connected to brain, brain connected to body, they spied a car coming up on the round. Even faster the muscles went, as they strained to lead her around the incoming vehicle. It didn't work.
Time seemed to slow down to Umbra, as her body impacted the incoming vehicle. Metal against flesh, and metal won, her entire body bending to the well of the momentum of the vehicle. Bones broke, snapping apart, flesh being twisted and ripped apart unnaturally. A scream was let out of Umbra's lungs, a scream of the unknown. The ultimate unknown, death.
The plan was simple, and it should have worked. In theory, appearing in front of a stranger, pointing a gun at a guy and asking politely for him to hand his wallet over should have worked, but it didn't.
Umbra walked carefully up the street, darting carefully from shadow to shadow, her black robe billowing behind her as she darted behind a tree, her hood hiding the features of her face. Slowly and carefully, she peered over the side of the gigantic wooden pillar, taking a long look around at her surroundings. Opposite the street to her, there were simple houses, that she was very used to. Most of them were two-story, all painted the same way and built the same way, like a classic neighborhood. Lamp posts were put in regular intervals down the street, giving a dull orange glow that Umbra was careful to avoid.
Grabbing her robe, and putting it more tightly against her skin, she shivered, watching her exhale turn into a cloud of mist, and disappear. It was a chilly night, a perfect setting for what she was about to do. Umbra shivered again, but this time, it wasn't because of the cold. She looked down at her pocket, grabbing a handle of her pistol, and yet again had a shiver go down her spine, remembering the exact words of her parents, or in this case, owners..
“Listen, Ferret. I need you to take your gun, point it at somebody, and threaten them for their money. It's not complicated, it doesn't take your mind to figure out how to do it.” The man smirked, patting her on the head. He wore a full tuxedo, though Umbra had no idea where he got one, as his huge, muscled body big enough to not fit in any tuxedo she heard of. His head, in her option, was ugly. His head was square, and had only a small amount of brown hair covering his head. The man had a large nose, what she memorized about him.
“Wha.. actually threaten somebody with a gun? You're kidding me, right? Right, boss? You know I'm more of a snake than an ox, striking from the shadows.. You know what I mean, right?” She laughed uncertainly. Currently, she was wearing her comfortable black robe, that she almost wore all of the time. Her hood was down, revealing her face, which currently had an uncomfortable look on it. Brown hair was combed down neatly, though it was covered by a baseball cap. It was to cover the sun out of her eyes during the day, having forgotten to take it off. Umbra's brown eyes were focused on her parent.
“No, I am not kidding, you silly girl.” He let out a laugh, taking his hand off of her head. They were currently sitting on an expensive feeling couch, in front of a fireplace. As far as colorful couches go, this couch was a very dull brown. Various pictures were hanged around the room, all of them mostly pictures of supposedly famous people that the average person would never hear of. These paintings were put into expensive frames, probably bought with the money that Umbra stole. The lights were off, and it was in the afternoon, making the light of the fire flicker all around the room.

She was snapped back into attention by the sound of footsteps resounding down the streets. Umbra mentally slapped herself, if those footsteps were coming down this side of the sidewalk, the act of surprise would be up, and--
Uh oh. The footsteps ARE coming this way, so Umbra abandoned the idea of a surprise, and took out the gun. It felt odd, and bulky in her hands; her body simply wasn't made for handling a pistol. Leaping towards the footsteps, Umbra saw the figure clearly now, and when she did, feelings such as dread came right up to confront her.
A police officer, fully dressed in uniform. Glancing over, she saw a sign that Umbra would've saw if she hadn't thought about the past.
“Warning: Neighborhood Watch in action. Officers will be patrolin...” It was stated on a rusty sign, but she didn't finish the rest of it. The officer was already yelling at her to lower her weapon, and she knew that if she raised the pistol, a bullet would most definitely fly into her head. So instead of running, she dropped down, using her gift to become invisible and started to flee. Unfortunately for her, the officer shot, and the bullet flew through her shoulder, drilling through flesh and bone, ripping out the other side along with a splatter of her blood. Umbra screamed, and began running, the adrenaline rushing through her body. A radio crackled, and a voice asked for backup. She didn't care, desperately trying to escape.
A siren wailed, and she jumped over a fence. The officer was close behind, and her entire body seemed to be wailing.
