Full Name: Dexter Alex "The Phoenix" Moreau
Gender: Male
Age: 53 (Appears 19, and thinks he is 19)
Power(s): Dexter was born with his powers, due to a strange magical energy imbuing him with the powers of the mythical phoenix. His father had dabbled in magic, and used him as an experiment while he was in his mother's womb, doing all sorts of odd rituals until he was magically altered to the point of being supernaturally gifted.
His main power is a regenerative healing factor, much like Wolverine's from the X-men. This means that any damage he sustains is quickly repaired by his body's natural ability to multiply it's cells. When this happens, his body becomes coated in fire for the seconds that it takes to recover from his wounds, creating a bright flash of light for an impressive display. This can allow him to regenerate from even the most fatal wounds, but if he is wet it does not work at all, as a weakness, until he dries out (at which point, unless he is dead, any damage done to him repairs itself as normal). Another weakness of this power is that if he takes significant enough damage to the brain, he can lose his memories, and if he takes a sustained amount of damage over time, it can simply kill him. If his head is completely severed, that will also kill him. It takes time to heal, of course, and depending on how severe the wound is it takes even longer. Recovering from fatal wounds takes several minutes, but he can regain consciousness and move around (at about a quarter normal speed and with no real fighting ability) halfway through the healing process. Recovering an entire lost limb takes about as long, but recovering from minor cuts and wounds can happen almost instantly.
Second, Dexter has an almost complete mastery over the element of fire. With his thoughts, he can generate fire and manipulate any fire nearby with almost complete ease. This control over fire also allows him to quench any fires that he is in control of, putting them out with a mere thought. Just like his regenerative healing factor, however, this power does not work at all while he is wet. Also, the downside of having such masterful control is that he has to focus on manipulating fire, preventing him from taking many other actions while he is doing so.
Finally, Dexter has the ability to transform into flames, either partially or completely, and control his form while doing so. This essentially allows him to fly while he does it, but he can only control the fire that he is consistent of when he is fully transformed, meaning his second power cannot be used while in his full fire form. His ability to partially transform into fire allows him to carry others through the air while he flies, and even avoid damage from attacks if he manages to time his transformation well enough. The downside to this ability is that it also cannot be used while he is wet, and while he is in full fire form he cannot control any fire that isn't him. He also has reduced power over fire when transformed partially, proportionate to how much of him is transformed.
Overall, being wet is a weakness of all of his powers. Having a little water on him won't stop him, but having a significant amount of water coating his body causes him to be incapable of using his powers. As for his healing factor, only the wet area is stopped from regenerating, and when it comes to transforming into fire, he can simply not transform that part of his body into fire, forcing him to stick to partial transformations. His ability to manipulate fire (excluding the fire he transforms into), however, is completely negated by being wet at all, past having a cup of water spilled on him. Another weakness of these powers is that they are dramatically weakened at night, requiring much more focus to generate/manipulate even small amounts of fire, and almost quadruple the time to regenerate from wounds. He can only partially transform into fire at night, up to half of his body total.
Appearance: Dexter is a tall (about 6'3''), thin young man, with a well-defined musculature. He has two different-colored eyes, one orange and one silver, both very sharp and almond-shaped. He has a smooth face, with a small nose and soft lips. His jaw isn't very well sculpted, but he makes up for it by being 'cute', rather than overly handsome. His hair is in a wild mess ontop of his head, spiked upwards at the crown and flattened down at the bace, with a short ponytail in the back. His hair is naturally blonde, but has developed rusty red tips naturally over his life of being the phoenix. For fashion, he generally likes to wear flowing clothes, usually of chinese inspiration, and alot of jewelry. One thing you can always find him wearing is a long, red cloak with an over-large hood on attatched to it, along with a long metal pole on his back (this secretly being his scythe, though he uses it as a staff most of the time, as it has a detachable blade).
Personality: Dexter can seem overly-serious and harsh at times, due to his upbringing and life so far, but he's a fairly kind and generous person in the end. He's afraid of very little, the only thing of note being a distinct fear of water, as it leaves him powerless for the most part. When near water, he will be noticably cautious of it, trying to skirt around it almost every time, unless he is certain he won't accidentilly fall in somehow. He has a habbit of showing off his power to everyone he meets and talks to for any significant amount of time. This is probably because his father often focused on his power being his only truly good quality, so he tries to show people what makes him worth while. Dexter far prefers having company over being alone, though occasionally he enjoys some time to be by himself. He also doesn't worry about being alone or anything, because it doesn't bother him too much, he just finds it boring and tiresome after a while. He takes a logical view of life, deep down, but outwardly he portrays himself as more of a light-hearted, foolish person, who can be a bit overly-serious at times. His hobbies include writing stories and poetry, painting, and playing all sorts of games.

History/Family: Dexter was born into a family with an abusive father and a negligent mother. He had been born with his powers due to magical experiments done by his father, but all the same Dexter's father seemed to hate him for the simple fact that he had the powers. It was as if his father had tried to create him, but immediately regretted it, and was now jealous of him for the power that had been his own doing. Dexter was beaten almost daily by his father, and his mother just ignored it all as it happened. He had no one to talk to, and was home-schooled his entire young life, so he didn't even have a chance at making any friends. He was made to believe that he was completely worthless, and that the only good thing about him was his power, which he didn't even deserve.
After 18 long years of taking this abuse, Dexter decided he'd finally had enough, and escaped to live on his own out in the forest. There, he read old books, painted, and wrote poetry for a year, before discovering his fondness for the staff, as well. From there, he spent the next 30 years living on his own, practicing his staff and scythe techniques and perfecting his painting. He wasn't all that good of a poet, even with those thirty years of time to work on it, but he still enjoyed trying to write the occasional poem, and he often found himself playing chess or checkers with himself to pass time. It was a peaceful life, and he suffered little interruption other than from the occasional visitor. He was able to weed out a lot of the mental damage done by his father over these years, and became a self-taught master of the staff, but he never managed to rid himself of his anger issues, mostly because these issues were actually a part of Dexter's fire powers; a natural weakness of being practically an avatar of such a wrathful and wild element.
One day, however, he got a particularly nasty visitor. An assassin sent by his father who was still trying to find him after so long, and now blamed him for the death of his mother. His mother had died in his absence, and it had absolutely nothing to do with him, but she had died in a house fire and his father blamed him because he left and wasn't there to save her. The assassin caught him by surprise, shot him twice in the head, and then left him there, bleeding. Apparently the assassin hadn't been told about Dexter's healing factor, because in a few days Dexter simply awakened outside his old hut in the forest, except he had no memories at all other than those of his early childhood. For some reason, he was still stable for the most part, even though he couldn't remember any of the time he spent away from his father. For all he knew, he was still 18 and had just managed to escape the man who hated him so much, so unfairly. He wandered the forests for another year after that, and on what he perceived to be his 19th birthday he took a boat to what he would discover to be the island that Foresta Academy was founded on. He didn't know why he wanted to go there, but all his life he had wanted to go out to see and discover the island that he just KNEW was there; he could feel it deep down inside. When he arrived, he stood on the beach, taking a deep breathe and staring at the village, and at the academy in the distance. He was finally there. The Phoenix had found it's nest.

Weaknesses:
- Dexter has a bit of an anger issue. He flies off the handle very easily (except for when it comes to girls, he usually has nearly infinite patience with women), and when he does get angry he is very hard to reason with, and will often attack people at the first chance he is presented with. The easiest way to calm him down is simply to apologize for whatever you did, but he can also be calmed down by those he cares about deeply by having them intervene somehow.
- Dexter's immune system is actually very weak, so if his healing factor is stopped for a significant time, he can become deathly ill very quickly. Once his healing factor comes back, he will recover in a matter of hours, but if he is held in a situation where his healing factor could not function properly, he would likely die.
- As his abilities are extremely fire-centric, Dexter has trouble fighting enemies who are resistant to fire damage or are immune to it. This means that if he runs into such a foe, he will likely have to retreat, either due to losing or simply making no progress at all.
- Finally, Dexter is afraid of rejection, to the point where he rarely even puts himself out there in an attempt to make friends. Basically, any friends he makes, he makes because they come to him, never the other way around. He's just too nervous, otherwise, even if he won't show it.
Strengths:
- Dexter's healing factor provides a few beneficial side-effects, such as conferring an immunity to disease, poisons/toxins/foreign chemicals, slowed aging, and weather adaptation (he can adapt easily to extreme hot and cold temperatures where cell death would normally occur without needing to worry about it). This resistance comes from the body's new ability to simply regenerate cells that are damaged by the elements.
- On the flip side of the coin to being weaker at night time, Dexter's healing speed nearly doubles at high noon, along with his powers to generate/control fire. This time of day only lasts for one hour, unfortunately, so he has a short window of extra power as opposed to half of the day being a weakener, and high noon has no effect oh his power to transform into fire.
- Dexter has spent his life focusing on training his ability to fight using a weapon. He is not particularly skilled at hand to hand combat, however with a staff or a scythe he easily has master-level skill. This comes from decades of practice in the years that he lost his memory of, and he just thinks he is a 'natural', when really he is 'remembering' his old skill.
