Name: Happy Nolan
Gender: Female
Age: 65
Power: She has none.
Desired Job: Happy owns a small Bed and Breakfast three blocks south of the town square.
Personality: Happy is a prim and simple woman. Although she has lived on the island for twenty-five years, She has managed to maintain the awe and shock of a tourist. She likes to ask many personal questions because she finds everyone interesting. A steady diet of Reader's Digests and gossip tv have left her with a charming ignorant view of the world. Happy is perhaps too overly sensitive and puts far too much stock in blind faith. For her, there has never been a gray area of what is right or wrong, but this does not make her a cruel woman. She enjoys voleenter work and never turns away a homeless person or animal. Happy will also say things like, "I'm not one to spread gossip." just before or right after she does so. She likes feeling included in thiings like brunches ad town meetings ad insists that everyone she eets calls her Auntie.
Appearance: Small and round, Happy totters around in orthipedic shoes and carries a walking stick but doesn't lean too heavily on it. She wears glasses attatched to her neck by beaded strings ad teases her short gray hair out in a southern style; the bigger, the better. Her earings and necklaces tend to be gold nd gaudy, but her knobbly hands can no longer fit into her rings. She only wears the one set of pearls she has to church. Happy likes dressing in bright and pastel colors and always has on a fluffy cardigan. The cragy lines are deep in her face and her arms have a few age spots and are beginning to develop into fleshy "bingo wings".
Weaknesses: Gossip and ignorance are Happy's biggest flaws. Over the years, she has become slow moving and arthritic. Happy has always been adficted to sugar and prefers her sweets to doctors' warnings. Happy's feelings can be easily hurt and she trusts too easily as well, which has resulted in her good nature being taken advantage of. Although she keeps the rented rooms and public rooms in a crisp and cleah fashion, her own living space is absurdly messy. At any moent, Happy could easily turn intoan extreme horder.
Strengths: Happy is very talented when it comes to arts and crafts. Her skills in the garden are also so good that a few people have asked if she is gifted, but Happy has never thought too look into her green thumb beyond her belief thst patience is the key to a beautiful garden. She is very good at making people feel like they are the most important person in the room. Happy is so good at running her B & B that she has not recieved a complaint in nearly fifteen years.
History: Happy had always been romantically uninteresting. Although she had gone through stretches of her life where being unwed had bothered her, she saw it as an opportunity to travel, go to movies, and have her fill of macramé and pottery classes. By the age of thirty, she had perfected the art of a bake sale and had more doilies than she could count. At thirty-five, Happy joined a golfing class and met Ronoldo. Their time together was full of bliss and romance for Happy. She had no idea that he had found her boring and dimwitted until three years later, when she walked in on him with another woman. Ronoldo didn't even have the decency to cheat with a younger and prettier model. The point of the affair was just that the other woman wasn't Happy. She tried dating again unsuccessfully and found the whole process rather tiring. So, Happy threw up her hands at Main-Land-Living and moved to the island and lived with her sister, Donna, for a few years.
The two spinster sisters held book clubs and tea parties and were always fast friends with anyone who crossed their paths. After Donna died of complications due to pneumonia, Happy turned their house into a little four bedroom Bed and Breakfast. She welcomes all types of visitors (gifted and non) provided that they are polite and pay the bill at the end of their stay.
