Full Name: Monica Harmony Sydney; prefers to be called by her middle name, Harmony.
Gender: Female
Age: 15
Power: Harmony was born an earth elemental nymph, having a spiritual connection with nature. She can make plants grow (or die) as much as she pleases, and can talk with animals through telepathy. She feels almost more comfortable communicating with animals and plants than it is for her to talk to some humans. Only aggressive animals are hard for her to communicate with.
Appearance: Her features include tanned skin and long, light, flamboyantly curly hair. She has a round face, almond-shaped olive green/brown eyes, and a short, thin nose. Her smiles are always just a little crooked, and she sticks out her tongue when she's concentrating. She despises wearing makeup or shoes, and typically wears long, flowing, colorful skirts and organic cotton t-shirts bearing animals' rights logos. Her height is around 5', and she has a soft build. You'll always find bruises and scrapes on her skin, from various incidents she gets herself into, and she wears a silver, celtic-knot type purity ring on her left hand. She lost her right arm up to her shoulder in a wood chipper accident when she was 11.
Personality: Harmony is a very open-minded, easy-to-get-along-with kind of girl. She loves to read novels, memoirs, and scientific essays. The only thing that stresses her out would be her grades. Even though she has never gotten anything below an A-, she holds herself to very high standards in school. She'll only take advanced classes, and usually finds herself hanging around with kids older than herself. The flute is her favorite instrument, and she loves to sing (although she's not too talented at it...) She runs to blow off steam, and listens to 80's/90's rock and metal. Her dream job is to be a naturalist, and study wildlife in isolated, unexplored areas. Nothing sets her off like people littering, being inconsiderate, or people being too close-minded. She'll hide her anger, though, and rarely yells. She likes to keep things very organized, and enjoys the little pleasures of life, like fresh summer fruits, wearing cozy sweaters, and singing karaoke.
Picture: sorry, I'm not an artist.
Weaknesses: Harmony is weakened when exposed to pollution. She quickly loses energy if she drinks polluted water, and she turns pale when exposed to things like cigarette smoke and smog. If the environment is too much to handle, she'll pass out.
She holds a very deep trust for most people, but this can leave her naive to danger.
Being in highly populated, industrial environments will stress her out, as well as cloudy, gloomy environments.
Missing an arm also makes it a bit harder for her to do everyday things, like opening jars or washing dishes.
Strengths: Harmony makes friends very easily, and gets along with all kinds of people.
Her connection with nature allows her to fix pollution and help ecosystems thrive.
Losing her arm left her with the attitude that every day you should be your best, and this gives her a fun, optimistic lookout on life. She'll always be there for you when you need her.
History/Family: Harmony was born in 1999 in a tiny mountain town in the Rockies, the daughter of a god and a human woman. Her father (not biologically related to her) was almost never present at home, because of his hard-working job as a lumberjack. Her mother had an addiction, and a busy job as a waitress at the local diner to scrounge up money for Harmony. Being an only child, often alone, she would wander into the forests surrounding her home. She discovered her abilities at age three, and has had animals as her friends for as long as she could remember.
When she was 9, she was finally taken away from her mother by her lumberjack father, whom she barely knew. She lived with him at the lumber company he worked at. After making the mistake of eagerly showing some of his friends her ability to make trees grow tall, thick, and healthy in a matter of days, they began to exploit her for company profits. In her spare time, she taught herself math and science, and read every book that she could find. The library car came to town once every two weeks, and she slowly worked her way through all the books. After living with her father and reluctantly helping the lumber company, she lost her right arm in the wood chipper accident. She can still move her shoulder, though, the only part of her arm that made it. This was how she learned she wasn't invincible. After the authorities found out what had happened and what was going on, the company was closed down, and her father picked up a job in the city.
Harmony hid her ability from that point on, and she went to public school for the first time. She was very unhappy; being surrounded by smog hurt her health, and she missed being surrounded by nature. Her ability to get along with people was perfected while she lived here. Now that she had internet access, she learned to further her academic ability, and applied for Foresta Academy on scholarship at age 14, just before her sophomore year in high school.
In Character Sample: Harmony entered the campus with dirty feet and her small, brown suitcase tucked under her one arm. The campus was ominously quiet, with only the birds to make any noise. A sparrow had settled on her shoulder, and Harmony took it to a garden she had seen walking here. The friendly bird explained how its nest had been destroyed in a storm recently, and Harmony told him she would try to figure out a way to keep him in her dorm with her. Once she actually figured out which dorm she was in. She sat her suitcase down in the rose garden, and settled on a bench with her ankles swinging below her. The roses were unlike any she had ever encountered; orange roses, blue roses, white roses dusted with lavender... She closed her eyes, and the flowers close to her perked up, leaves budding with more blooms. She smirked mischievously and opened her eyes. Forgetting her suitcase entirely, she laughed and skipped around the garden with the sparrow chirping after her. The grass even seemed to grow greener as she tread upon it!
