You're so weak, you know that?
Daniel jumped back from Nova with what almost seemed like inhuman speed narrowly avoiding both of her attempts to injure him or grab him. "Stop it! Nova! What are you doing? This is not right!" Daniel hollered at the girl, who he was as his true personality seeming to break through for the moment.
Stop it? Do you really think those kinds of words could reason a beast like her? You don't even remember she warned you! You just kept coming back.
"Nova, you're being brainwashed! Please, just stop this!" Daniel hollered once more backing farther and farther away from her as quickly as he could. "I know that's not you right now, I know it isn't!" the desperation in his voice seemed almost unnerving. That was at least until his expression changed again.
It's live or die and you choose to reason, there's no logic you can create in this!
Daniel suddenly stood straight and smirked at the girl, gripping his forearm as if it was injured. "What a beast," he then said out-loud. Holding both his arms out in a motion as if to bring something from the ground, Daniel instead seemed to be flying into the air himself - his feet producing enough fire to propel him. As he did, Daniel also started a rain of fireballs in Nova's general vicinity.

He was fast. Nova's eyes were flat and cold as he yelled. She merely stared, uncomprehending. She moved forward as he moved back, stalking him like a jungle cat stalked its prey. A note of desperation made her pause for just a tic, but she moved forward again almost immediately.
Nova made a noise of frustration when he flew out of her reach. The walls were twenty five feet tall, giving Daniel some extra leeway with his movements. Nova's eyes narrowed and she deflected one of the fireballs. She wasn't bothering trying to dodge them. The pain didn't register on the level she was operating at.
The crowd was wild. This was the sort of spectacle they clearly enjoyed.
A fireball glanced past her arm and the smell of burning flesh filled the vicinity. She hurled the sword at where she thought Daniel would be just as the next fireball hit her in the stomach. She was down in a heap of hissing flesh and singed clothing.

Daniel noticed the sword too late, and as it was swinging at him the sharp object caught him in his left thigh - leaving a hideous wound bound to leave a permanent effect. Spiraling back to the ground, the blood was flowing out of his leg just as quickly. He collided with the ground on his less injured side, but nonetheless suffered some more injuries.
Do you really want to bleed out like this? How much more do I have to tell you to convince you that I'm better for us? The only way to close it would be searing it... Oh, my! How smart you are. Of course, we are the same after all
With a more determined expression, the hardness out of his eyes from before had disappeared for the moment. Instead, Daniel worked quickly by tearing off some fabric from his pants and tying it around the wound to slow the bleeding. During the process Daniel also threw up a wall of fire in defense, nothing but determination coursing through his body as he hoisted himself up to his knees and then feet. How long would he be able to do this anyway before she overwhelmed him?

Nova wasn't moving. Her shirt was on fire, there were weals and places burnt black where skin used to be. Breathing became the truth of her existence, each inhale breaking through the mental fog of addiction with the sheer pain of it. In the space between seconds she comprehended what she had done, as a human and as a monster in a human suit.
And she comprehended what she was about to do, even as the pain sifted her closer to that divide between Tzitzimitl and student. Too much damage had been taken for her to heal without repercussions. Her eyes widened and she turned her head just enough to see Daniel get to his feet.
"Run," she mouthed at him, terrified that what had happened in her other fights would happen here. "Kill me. Fight." She struggled against eyelids that wanted to close. The last part was audible as she ground out, "Just. Stay. Alive."
No more. She'd spent the rest of her human reserves. Her body kicked into survival mode- the ancient defense mechanism kicking into place. This fight really had the crowd going. They screamed their approval as she stopped moving and started shining.
What got to its feet was vaguely Nova-shaped. It was glowing too brightly to look directly at. It appeared to be wearing a skirt- the outline looked like a garment made of human bones. These rattled together as she moved. The crowd hushed and the effect of this sound was brought into sharp relief. The iron bands were distinctly dark stripes against the shining form, and the designs that were normally just like dark brown tattoos seemed as dark as ink.
She didn't seem to notice Daniel right away. Instead, she drifted towards the stone blade that had fallen nearby.

Do you see it now? This disgusting thing you think you love 'It's not HER FAULT. This was how she was born!' Don't make me laugh! You just have bad taste.
At the appearance of Nova's true form, Daniel felt like he was going insane. One part of him just plan to dodge until he wore her or himself out. The other part of him though was planning something a lot more offensive.
Just face it, the only way we're going to get out of this alive is if you let me do what I want. You must be kidding. Me? Kidding? Never!
The harshness that snapped in Daniel's eyes seemed to direct to Nova. While standing perfectly still the young man held his hand out toward the non-human being now in a motion to snap his fingers. Upon the snap, a huge flame seemed to pop out of the ground at Nova's left foot - the fire large enough to make an impact on almost a majority of her leg.
The next second though, Daniel seemed to come to quickly and screamed. "NO!" He pulled the fire from her leg quickly - and the remains seemed to scatter around the stadium floor they were in.

The Tzitzimitl didn't seem to notice the flame that seemed to engulf her leg, then scattered. The iron binding her meant that she wouldn't absorb it, as she was meant to, but she felt differently than usual. That meant that pain registered in a different way, as did everything else.
She leaned over and wrapped a light-infused hand around the blade. The being brought the blade up to her face. A moment later, the blood was gone. She had licked it off the sword, despite the sand that had stuck to it. She turned minutely to angle her body towards Daniel's, and the next second had her hurtling at Daniel, blade first. Super-human strength meant a decent amount of speed, but it was a careless sort of motion.
Meanwhile, the crowd was basically sitting on the edges of their seats. Renata and her gentleman friend were the only ones who were holding expressions besides that of excitement. Renata had her hand on a lever, and the gentleman had his arms folded over his chest and a scowl plastered on his face.

Daniel was stuck now, he either could fight back or dodge constantly but he couldn't figure out for once which might where him out more. As the sword came hurtling toward him though, Daniel quickly dodged and limped over to the other side of the battle arena as quickly as he could. It seemed to him as if this crowed seeming to enjoy nothing more than just fighting, so in an attempt to ignore the voice in his head Daniel just started to move - trying to constantly stay out of Nova's vision. What would happen if he just blatantly chose not to do anything but just dodge?

Nova crashed into the wall behind where Daniel had been. She was fast, but her strength meant that the movement was uncontrolled. A minute bit of the wall cracked and crumbled from the impact, but it was solidly built. A corona of dust surrounded the form as she picked herself up off the ground.
The sword was impaled in the stone, but she was able to wrench it loose after a couple of experimental tugs. She seemed to pause then, taking in her surroundings for a moment. Her next move took the crowd by surprise. She jumped, clearly intending to get one of the audience members, but she crashed into the barrier. The barrier crackled and sparked where her body had come into contact with it and she collapsed onto the ground.
Some of the crowd had toppled back in their attempts to get away from the potential onslaught, but they started to laugh now, first at their own silliness and then at her futile attempt to attack somebody outside of the arena. Nova looked up at them, then at the stone wall of the arena where she'd hit.
Unfortunately, the person controlling the barriers had noticed and the shining Tzitzimitl never hit the stone. She careened into a new invisible wall, sparks flying and the smell of ozone filling the air when she made contact.
When she stood up, she whirled around, finally noticing Daniel again. She flung the stone blade at him, following with her body, arms extended forward in a promise of an embrace of death.

Daniel paused curiously as he watched Nova try to attack the barrier, in which made him realize that even in this form... she still seemed to have some sense to herself. At least that was what he concluded. Being so distracted by that though, when she whirled around to come at him again Daniel found himself in a situation where he couldn't easily dodge.
You've killed us both!
"SHUT-UP!" Daniel crossed his arms in front of him for a position of defense and when the stone blade would have connected - Daniel's whole body turned to flame. The horror happened though when Nova connected her embrace - and the fire that seemed to be Daniel all connected dropped to the ground instead and was split into a line seeming to be barely connected in some parts.

The smell of burning filled the air and the shining form seemed to look down at her person, inspecting. The glow seemed to flicker slightly, but she went back to searching for her quarry. The fact that he was fire took him right off her radar and she drifted towards the edge of the arena. On the way, she picked up her sword.
Money was changing hands in the stands, on some bet about the fight unheard by the contestants. The Tzitzimitl dragged her blade along the barrier around the arena, eliciting a spray of sparks. Her gait was easy, but showed a leashed rage. Like a caged jungle cat.
Renata and her comrade exchanged glances. A silent decision was reached and he shifted slightly. Nova hit a barrier halfway around the arena. As Renata pulled a lever, a door on her half of the arena opened from the wall, accompanied by a sickly wet splat. The Tzitzimitl knew this sound, as did the crowd. She disappeared down the dark corridor to a chorus of cheers and jeers.
Renata's eyes were glued on the fires, however. This boy was valuable. If he died here, it would represent a loss of revenue she particularly valued. She made a gesture at her ever-present bodyguard and he melted into the background to do her bidding.

As the minutes passed by, the fires seemed to desperately try to latch on to anything that could connect them better. Needless to say sawdust and sand didn't necessarily allow for too much spreading of a fire. As soon as a good enough connection was made through-out the link of fire, the transition from fire to human flesh was a gruesome one. Daniel's clothes were torn much more than they were before and on his left side his body seemed to have a grotesque hole in it.
Here we are... dying... just because you couldn't... 'I don't care.'
Along with his leg bleeding some more, Daniel felt himself slowly loosing grip on his consciousness. Was this really going to be it? Was this the end? Was there anymore after this?

Emotionless eyes stared down at the boy and it was another moment before his mistress gave him a direct verbal order for him to administer a drug. It was contained in something similar to an EpiPen, which he jabbed into the boy's leg and then cast aside carelessly. He knelt briefly to pick up the boy in his arms- a weight he bore as though it were no more than a sackful of feathers.
The drug would have some effect shortly and it would be better for Daniel to be in his own cell when that occurred. Alex strode out of the arena with the other Gifted in his arms. The doorway that opened was not the same one that Nova had gone through, but the cell he arrived at was right next to the one the shining girl was locked in.
He placed the boy on the cot wordlessly and left just as quickly, closing the cell tightly behind him. The lights went out after he left, leaving Nova as the only source of illumination. She was kneeling in the center of her cell, consuming a mass of bloody meat of indeterminate origin.
As time went by, she stopped glowing so brightly and her consumption slowed. Then it stopped and she seemed to shut down for a little while. Staring ahead of herself, it was as though her body were just a shell. She glowed about as brightly as she could under normal circumstances, but she was definitely skinnier than she had been at school.

As he was unconscious, a series of images flowed through Daniel's brain. At first the images were happy, of his foster parents and his childhood home. The images significantly grew worse and worse though as all his happy child hood memories started to twist into dark and cruel things. As the nightmares started to twist and turn, Daniel broke out into a sweat and groaned in pain. 'They're going to know about pain... aren't they? Aren't they going to figure it out?' The voice that floated through his head seemed innocent at first. The more it talked though, the worse it seemed to get. 'You're mother didn't even love you enough to hold you,' the voice mocked him. 'Who are these people that you think raised you? You were just a toy to them, how do you even know that they loved you?'
Daniel groaned louder, but before the voice had anymore chances to speak - the young man's eyes snapped open to reveal nothing but black where white and brown should have been. "*Aba maiṁ kyā kara rahā hūm̐ yaha hai?" Daniel muttered to himself, rubbing his face and standing up with ease that would seem almost impossible considering the situation he had just come. Daniel's black eyes looked around the cell that he was in until he spotted a soft glow that caused him to walk over to the left of the cell and wrap his hands around the bars in front of him to get a closer look at the girl. "Vahām̐ āpa," Daniel called out to Nova "Yaha kahāṁ hai?" the young man asked - feeling no effect of the pain that had been inflicted upon his body from earlier. Daniel waited for a few minutes, expecting a response from the girl and his expression almost seemed comedic as he stood there and waited patiently for her to respond.
'Wait, what the hell? Who the hell are you?' *I'm your savior, who are you? 'I'm his only true friend and protector, you're just an imposter!' *I see, a product of trauma. You will leave just as quickly as you came.
Suddenly, the silence seemed almost as overwhelming as the voice itself.
The person that seemed to inhabit Daniel though, paid no mind to anything else as he continued to watch Nova. "Kyā ēka garība laṛakī," he commented making a tsking sound with his tongue. Silently Daniel gripped the metal bars in front of him once more and within a few minutes the bars melted enough to the point where he could walk through them and over to Nova. Patiently and peacefully, Daniel sat down in front of Nova - his black eyes and expression showing that he was examining her quite a bit. After what seemed like forever though, Daniel let out the lightest of laughs - it was so soft that it almost seemed non-existent. "Too many people believe that fire is a destructive force," he said to the girl as he slowly picked off bits and piece of things unknown that were on Nova's shoulders and in her hair. "Is it because it incinerates anything in it's path? Or are people that afraid of the pain?" The voice that Daniel was using seemed to not belong to him - instead he had a thick Hindu accent with seemed rich, deep and flavorful.
Daniel continued to clean off Nova the best he could, "Fire is the element that warms the soul, it is the element that brings light in the darkness," Daniel carefully adjusted Nova's hair, tucking some strands behind one of her ears. "My children have lost touch with what it means to heal by fire." Gently, Daniel placed his hand on Nova's forehead then as he continued on his one-sided conversation. "Is the concept that difficult to grasp? Your ancestors understood just as well the balance, how is it that fire is assumed to be so one-sided?" Daniel's hand started to glow then and the heat that formed was pushed into Nova. "Clear your mind, child." He said to her then. "I fear that he has lost the balance of fire, please be so kind as to remind him."

The strange tongue that Daniel had adopted didn't push through the haze that was slowly dissipating from her mind. The fact that he was no longer in his cell barely registered. She looked at him blankly when he moved into her field of vision. It was when he knelt that she started to hear his voice. While she didn't immediately comprehend everything, a part of her stored it away for later.
She flinched when he first touched her. It a slight gesture, but it was more than she'd exhibited thus far as herself. Nova whimpered softly once as he began pulling off the detritus that had accumulated during her time in Hell. There was something inherently wrong with the situation, but her world was not a good place. The fog had protected her, kept her feeling relatively safe and content. Euphoric at times.
He pushed heat into her and the rest of the fog left. What replaced it was a blinding clarity. Why was Daniel speaking in third person? That was the first really coherent thought. She didn't want to think of anything.
Stupidly, she said, "I went as fire to the masquerade." Daniel wanted her to remind him that fire had a balance. She latched onto that like a drowning person to a piece of wreckage. There was so much wrong with everything. If she let herself think, it would be over. Nova breathed heavily.
It occurred to her that she had a cellmate for the first time since she'd arrived. Then she realized that it wasn't planned. She practically flew backwards. Away from her unidentifiable meal of raw meat, away from Daniel. Her fingers dug into the stone at the back of the cell and she almost forgot how to use words. "You can't be in here! Daniel, I-"
The enormity of the things she'd done hit her like a ton of bricks. Her breath caught in her throat and her entire body seemed to curl forward as she hugged her stomach. A second later, she started retching in the corner of the cell. Not a whole lot came up and she was soon free to stare at her blood-covered hands in horror.
"You can't be here.. You can't be here. I... killed you. They put us in the arena and I-" At this point, she looked at his torso. A second later, she had darted forward to touch the mark she knew she'd left there. A sound of dismay escaped her throat. "How are you alive?! You were on the ground when they-" Her skin turned ashy as she remembered things. Was she hallucinating this? Maybe this was her way of coping with the fact that he was actually stone-dead back in the pit.

The being that inhabited Daniel didn't seem quite phased as the girl finally spoke, but the suddenly flew away from him in the next moment. "Is that his name?" he said to Nova while his pitch black eyes watched her with what seemed to be some sort of kindness. He waited patiently as she emptied her stomach, making no move to touch her anymore. "*Child," he held up his hand in a manner as if to have her pause in her talking, "I do not plan on having him die anytime soon - he is my kin after all. I would much prefer him to live out his mortal life and pass my influence on." The way that Daniel talked seemed surreal, and as Nova briefly touched the scar on Daniel's body - the whole area around it seemed to twitch for a moment.
"Please, remember this before I go - feeling the warmth and heat of fire, it means that you're alive. Feeling the warmth and fire from another person, they are alive just as well. Do not trick yourself into thinking otherwise." With those words, what happened the next few minutes after that caused the whole cell to light up. As quickly as that happened, the flash of light disappeared and Daniel's eyes turned back to their natural dark brown color along with being dangerously blood-shot. It was within that moment, only that moment alone that Daniel suddenly seemed to be like he had always been - a normal teenage boy. Nothing was wrong, but then that moment passed and Daniel's face twisted to that of grotesque anger. "What the hell is wrong with you?" he said to her, his tone once more not seeming himself - but it was his voice nonetheless. "You sit there acting so bewildered like you just didn't try to kill me," Daniel spit on the ground at the comment - his body breaking out into a sweat as he continued to speak. "Don't even pretend like it's not your fault - " Daniel interrupted himself and held his hands up in defense his face softening only for a few seconds "NO! Nova! Please don't believe him, whatever he - I say please... don't... it's not your fault..."
Suddenly, Daniel let out a cruel laugh and leaned his head against the bars behind him for some leverage - his breathing picked up and the sweat more obvious on his body made it quite easy to see that he wasn't in the best condition. "Don't listen to him!" Daniel said in a mocking tone, seeming to be making fun of himself. "Oh, you will listen to me won't you?" he then said looking at her with the kind of expression that almost dared some sort of refusal. "All he ever does is think about you, and here you are looking so damn disgusting." Daniel laughed some more and rolled his head to pop his neck - the action causing the pop to echo through the cell. "I swear it drives me insane that you drive him insane!" Daniel exclaimed, since the cell was small and Nova was close to him Daniel had no issue suddenly closing the distance between them and pushing the girl to the floor beneath them.
"All he ever did was follow you around like some lost little puppy dog and you just kicked him down because you were to damn concerned about your own problems. How selfish." Daniel put quite a bit of emphasis in his last words as he stared down at Nova.
'Don't do this, I know what you want to do and she'll never forgive me... please...' I'm taking what you could never get, so shut-up and be thankful.
"Did you want him to be more manly for you? Is that what is was? Was he to much of a gentleman?" Daniel looked more bitter than normal as he spoke, and his hands gripped tighter around Nova's wrists. "Or was it that he never thought? Was that it?" Daniel then laughed and as his body shook momentarily some sweat dripped off of him and onto Nova. "The way I see it, he has me now... and I'm here to do all the things he could never do." With those words, Daniel looked back to Nova once more - the meaning he put into his words and the emotion in his eyes suddenly making the teenager look extremely frightening.
Snapping his hand up to Nova's chin, he gripped her face tightly - the action albeit quite intrusive. With a surprising amount of care though as he lowered his head - the kiss at first was rough as he pushed his tongue into her mouth. As time passed though it changed to being strangely gentle.
