If this isn't okay please tell me how to improve/ edit/ etc. I really don't mind
Name: Full Name (on birth); Lillianus Oceanus Aigaios Smith. She goes by Lilly Ocean Smith. She doesn't mind being called Lils, Ocean or anything else, as long as it’s inoffensive, but she takes bad names really badly. Has an alias of “Hydra” given to her because of her powers (based off the Lernean Hydra- that's how they're linked).
Gender: Female
Age: Lilly looks about 13, but is actually a lot older (and I mean a lot ), but has amnesia so believes she’s about 20. She’s about 14 in her maturity levels too (most of the time).
She was born in 40 BC, making her 2052 years old in reality.
Power: Her main power is her ability to heal from almost any wound at super-speed. This can stop most injuries from killing her, but not from injuring her. It is possible to kill her with an injury, but it’s quite a lot harder than if she didn't have this power. (Also, if she donates organs/blood, then as long as that’s around it helps heal the person who receives the donation, proportionally to how big it is.)
This works on larger wounds very quickly, and smaller wounds very slowly, so if she got shot it could heal in a few hours or maybe anything down to ten minutes (If it was somewhere that naturally heals more quickly anyway), but if she got a paper cut, or another small wound, it would probably take longer than an average person to heal. She still has the pain of the injury for a much more regular amount of time, if it is hit, or aggravated in some other way.
The power also stops “negative” effects of aging (by healing off arthritis, stiffness, mental health problems etc.), which basically means that she’s stuck as a teenager, which sucks for her as people refuse to believe that she’s older than 13 unless they know her for years. (Just to clarify, this does not make her completely immortal, just it slows her down a lot. The experiments done on her basically stopped her aging, and they still have some effect on it now, but give it another few years and it won't be so far from the norm.)
Her next ability is heightened senses, particularly smell and hearing. They are heightened in every sense (no, I did not intend that very bad pun)- (I’ll use hearing as the example, because it’s easiest) they are more sensitive to quiet noises, have a wider range of sounds they can take in (including in-between notes) and can also register shorter sounds. This transfers to any sense where it’s applicable. However, it is still possible to sneak up on her etc., as naturally it would be annoying to always be hearing/ seeing everything, and anyone would probably start ignoring it after a while.
Her final ability is to shoot out claws, made from dense bone(think wolverine from x-men and you’re about there). They come from her knuckles or her fingertips, and can also come from the underside of her feet. As they come out, they rip open the skin, but it heals back quickly once she withdraws them.
When she breaks her claws while they're out, they're normally stuck outside her body until they are fully healed.
She woke up on a Scottish mountain with no recollection of her past, and she had her powers from then. Before her amnesia, Lilly was in a long term experiment that gave her powers copied from her sister, who had the healing and heightened senses naturally (But no venomous claws).
Lilly doesn't know life without powers, so it doesn't really make a difference to her. She uses her powers a lot, but that’s more because she cant control most of it than that she means to. Her powers are central to the way she perceives challenges. They have also helped her survive many times.
Personality: She’s very reckless, having an “It can’t do permanent damage, what’s there to worry about?” mind-set, which is very bad in social situations. She prefers to be on her own, but she won’t just leave someone who might need a kind word alone (unless they’re crying everywhere). She’s quite intelligent too, being able to think while in combat (or whatever else) with no planning whatsoever needed.
Lilly is generally quite aggressive as soon as anyone makes any indication of an insult towards her, and very competitive in anything that suggests that she’s skillful or any other merit she thinks she has. She’s a very skilled fighter, which as far as she can reckon, comes from before she had amnesia, when someone decided someone with her potential powers should be able to make the best of them in martial arts and fencing- hence her favourite weapon being a slender double-edged sword which she normally carries around (slung over her back).
She can’t stand being worse than other people at fighting, languages and most other things, and will work very hard to stay as good as she can be, making it very easy to train her to do something.
She has a very strong sense of morals, and when it comes to it, she’ll always want to save other people’s lives as she has a better chance of surviving anything that could be done. It’s therefore quite easy to manipulate her into doing what you want, but she’s not above playing dirty if others play dirty against her. She doesn't mind playing dirty in the education system, and has never been caught as she doesn't have to lean over, or anything, to see, and she can sometimes tell by the sound of the pen as it moves what they’re writing; although it takes so much concentration it could easily give her away.
She’s a bit socially awkward and sometimes remembers short parts of her past in the middle of history class and totally shocks teachers, or during chats she remembers her past and starts talking about “in my day…” or “when I was young…”, but forgets just as quickly, which really annoys her.
Her powers lead to a degree of social awkwardness too, because if you can hear someone's heartbeat and see sweat and how all the muscles are twitching on a person, you're going to know more about their feelings than most people, and if you consider this normal, you're probably going to make reference to it without thinking.
Lilly has a half-wish to be a hero, to use her powers to fight crime, so has a suit and everything designed.
She has been away from society too long to really understand modern tech., and prefers to spend time training, in the gym or just going outside and doing athletics-y-type stuff, and also too long to really understand modern culture so she never really fits in with people, unless they’ve been isolated for a long time too.
Lilly is really not very interested in fashion/ clothes/ etc. as “Being pretty now won’t help you in the long term.”
Appearance: She’s very short and skinny, for both her real age, and her brain age, but despite this, she still looks about 13. Most of that comes from her face, which has lost all childish round-ness. She’s about 4’5’’ (135 cm), and quite muscular for her size, and for a girl, mostly because of the fighting training she goes through regularly. For her size, her fingers are disproportionately long, which is quite useful with the claws. She also holds her weight on the ball of her feet most of the time, which gives her a bit of a strange posture, but makes her very light on her feet.
Lilly is fairly pretty, but not the prettiest girl by a long shot. She has straight, choppy, black hair with white streaks running through near the front, which reaches down to the tops of her shoulders, in a side parting to her left. There are two main streaks on each side which look almost like stripes. Her eyes are gray-green in color, and the pupils narrow into slits like a cat’s when it’s bright. Her complexion is somewhere between Greek and Italian.
Her features are quite sharp and are reflected near-perfectly across her face, bar the swarm of freckles running down one side of her neck (which you can’t normally see because of her hair and her love for scarves).
She wears a long silver chain around her neck, with small metal plates on, like she used to be in the army. Most days she wears loose boots which she can kick off easily. She found them shortly before going to Foresta academy. She doesn’t care too much about fashion, so she’ll normally just pick something random out of her wardrobe. She doesn’t really like jeans because “they’re hard to fight in”. She often wears scarfs, just because she likes them, not for any particular reason.
Her accent is very hard to label. She grew up in Greece, so naturally that's quite strong, but she's lived in Rome, Scotland and England long enough for them all to effect her speech too.
Weaknesses: She often rushes into bad situations without really thinking out any consequences. She always prioritizes finding out about her past, so it’s easy for her to make bad decisions. Lilly often overestimates herself too, not really stopping to think about whether a challenge is too much for her. She has extreme social awkwardness, so it’s hard for her to persuade people without planning.
Her heightened senses mean it is very easy to incapacitate her, distract her, whatever; all you have to do is play some fairly loud music, or music with throbbing base, or have an average strength stink bomb, etc.
Her healing means she is essentially stuck at the same age, so if someone learns her techniques it would be very easy to stop her, and she’s unlikely to change very much at all. Also, the healing gives her a lot of arrogance which is quite easy to manipulate. Literally, just say “bet you can’t do this” and it really makes her want to do it- it’s not like the damage will be permanent- as far as she knows. Her amnesia came as a result of this kind of attitude.
She can’t stop her powers being triggered (except the venom and the claws, but these trigger if she gets irritated), so she cannot hide being Gifted if she gets any injury at all (except stuff like paper cuts).
She’s highly under-sensitive to anaesthesia, which can be both a strength and a weakness (but mainly weakness). This is caused because the healing power believes it is some kind of illness, and wipes it out as quickly as possible- so someone with super speed could still use it on her.
Strengths: She’s a very skilled fighter, with most weaponry that isn't very modern. Her fighting style is very offensive because there’s not much point to being overly defensive if you can heal off the injuries.
She normally gets good results in tests, because if she doesn't make notes or anything, she can usually sneak into teacher’s offices to check answers and get out again, using her powers to tell when to leave. Also, she can cheat a lot more easily than other students while in the room, by just looking at their tests from quite a long way away.
She has brilliant reactions, because her powers essentially give her warning before other people.
She is very good at languages, particularly ancient Greek and Latin, of which she can speak both fluently. She can also speak German and Mandarin Chinese ( I might make her say little bits of each on occasion, but I don’t know Chinese, so that won’t be popping up!). Generally, she is good at languages, and academic subjects, except she doesn't really like them unless she can see a practical use in real life (like in languages).
She can use her sense of smell to detect stress levels or her sense of hearing to listen to a heartbeat to tell if someone is lying. She can also do this to check how people are feeling, but she tries not to. When she does it can lead to very awkward situations.
Some history about the character: Lilly woke up on a deserted Scottish mountain 7 years ago, with no memories bar her name, but that was stamped on the plates around hanging around her neck. She tried to work out who she was by exploring, looking for evidence, but found nothing, so travelled down to England, where she only survived by begging and stealing. All she knows about her past now, is that she has an older sister called Yranna (who I might make as a character later, but I doubt it). She did try getting into foster care and managed to find a foster family (where she stayed for a few years), but she got picked on a lot for being small and not growing and stuff, and just reverted back to the streets. She got help from charities and other homeless people too.
In reality, Lilly was born about 2 millennia ago, in ancient Greece, and her mum gave her up for the experiment that (i) gave her powers and (ii) kept her alive for two millennia, when her only briefing was “They will survive. Their chances will be better with us than with staying here.” “Us” was a highly advanced race that was pretty much razed from the face of the planet in the middle ages. All that was left was a few small settlements, highly hidden from the outside world. “They” was Lilly and her older sister. They got moved around to Europe, then Britain, for protection, in which time they were trained to fight, but put back into the experiments. For the vast majority of the sisters’ lives they've been locked in dark rooms under heavy anesthetic, as anything lighter than “capable to induce comas” would probably have left them dead from pain during operations.
The last time they both awoke was just before Lilly lost her memories. She was outraged at what had been done to them both, and her sister warned that if she went in, they’d probably do something even worse, but Lilly saw this as a challenge and went in despite the warning. Let’s just say it’s very easy to knock someone unconscious when you’ve been studying them for so long. Unfortunately, they did more damage than they meant. They thought she had died and left her with a “disposal team”. Really, what they did was enough to leave a normal person with major brain damage, but Lilly managed to get away with everything but her memories, while knocking the whole team unconscious. She tried to run, but fell a few hundred metres away, while her memories were still largely intact. There was no sign of her footprints by the time she woke up, and the unconscious guards had been taken back to the colony.
The highly advanced race was planning to use Lilly and her sister as “super-soldiers” as defense if some huge disaster recurred on them, which is why they weren't released as soon as the experiments succeeded.
IC: The sun’s rays finally pierced through the thick clouds that had covered the sky thus-far into the morning. The light flickered, glancing off the snow and scattering everywhere, across the face of the black-haired girl lying in the snow. The girl’s greenish-gray eyes opened, and she frowned as she stretched, propping herself up on her elbows. The light stung her eyes for a second. She saw the light catch the tiny flecks of colour in the snow, and covered her eyes before the light blinded her. She rolled neatly over onto the other side, so her silhouette blocked the light.
Hearing a faint clinking noise, she looked down to where it had come from. Two metal plates hung from a chain around her neck. Her fingers leant out to grab them. The metal was freezing cold against her skin, like the snow, which was getting her clothes so wet. She tilted the plates to the light, making out the block-ish printed letters;
“LILLY OCEANUS AIGAIOUS SMITH”
The name rang a bell. She liked it. Lilly… she could live with that. Was that her name?
It didn't really matter. What did matter was that she felt like someone had gone into her head and taken everything . She rubbed the fingers of her left hand gingerly along the side of her head, and felt a sharp surge of pain, bubbling up under the skin.
Lilly cut herself short before she yelled, as she felt a ripping across the backs of her hands. There was something at the back of her mind, about snow and loud noises, and death, and she didn’t like it. She felt something in her head trying to resurface, and felt annoyance rising inside her.
She looked down at her hands, trying to evaluate what had caused the ripping pain, and her eyes grew wide. She shook her head once, closing her eyes tight, and looked back. Definitely real... Four long pale sharp bones were sticking out on each of her palms, between each pair of knuckles. They were each sticking out in a rather disconcerting angle. Is that bad? Lilly closed her eyes again, her brow lowering in concentration. Eventually, she felt an uncomfortable feeling throughout her hands, and as she looked down again, she saw the bones sliding back inside her arm.
That's just disgusting. Lilly looked up, which was probably a good move, considering the wounds left behind as her claws fully retracted, and gazed out across the vast whiteness.
There’s no point waiting out here in the snow and the cold…
Lilly slid sideways, so she was kneeling, and stood up. The sun dazzled her again as she turned, trying to get her bearings, but this time she was ready, and her gaze slid lower naturally. Lilly twisted round until she was facing a long slope downwards. It wasn't like there was a lot higher up than she was. Lilly started running.
Where do I start looking for clues?
Please tell me what you think is wrong if it is nearly there! Thank you
ps I can't access the rules (it says "the URL has changed and cannot be found," or something like that), so if there is anything against the rules here, my apologies, but I did what I could, in terms of the rules.
