Name: Alexander Dean Bandon
Gender: Male
Age: 23 (*see rationale in his history)
Power(optional): Alex can bend water. This means a good number of things that fall within that category: control its temperature and surface tension, breathing it without drowning, controlling its shape and phase.
He knows how to control his powers very well. Expertly, almost.
He can't create water, but he can call it up from the ground, or a source nearby.
If you are facing him in battle and there's a lake nearby, you'd best find an airtight room or box or something.
Desired Class/Desired Position: Intern.
He's basically at the beck and call of whoever wants to make use of his brawn or powers. He's supposed to be learning and developing skills he can take into a job or wherever his current path takes him. As of right now, his skill set might be best served in teaching a shop class or assisting power control, but he has problems he definitely needs to work through.
Personality: Alexander has always been angry. He was angry in elementary school, getting into trouble over minor things and getting sent home pretty often. He was angry in middle school when his parents divorced and his father was granted custody because his mother's job took her out of the country just a few too many times for the court's taste. He was angry in high school when his behavior proved too much for several schools and he discovered his power while fighting another student over a girl.
On top of all this anger, he's been a bully when people bothered him. Most of the time, he'd keep to himself and leave others out of his life's problems, but the moment somebody either tried to make friends with him, or be his enemy, they'd better watch out.
Alexander has had two conceptual obsessions: freedom and weakness. He can't stand the latter, he can't seem to hold onto the former. And they drive him absolutely insane.
So, basically, he was the ultimate antisocial. Complete contempt for other people's well-being and a hate for humankind that pretty much radiates off his person. He's pretty ambitious, especially when it concerns his powers. And revenge. He has been very capable of exacting revenge without any second thoughts. His competitive nature is usually harnessed in a negative way- a way that leads into trouble for him.
Despite his tendency to use brute force to solve his problems, he's not a stupid guy. Just too angry to use a lot of logic or forethought.
He has a chip on his shoulder and this makes it remarkably easy to set him off, leading to some rather scary interactions with his fellow students.
He's calmed down some since he first arrived at Foresta, but his breakthroughs (brought about by his tumultuous relationship with another student named Erin) were erased when he was taken.
Now: The anger still festers beneath the surface, but his personality and pride seem to have been completely erased. He will still lash back in an altogether-too-forceful way against perceived threats and those who make the mistake of pushing his buttons, but he can be leashed through the direct guidance of people he works for. The only time he seems to express anything other than anger or resignation is when he's interacting with Erin or when he's alone.
He still has a compulsion to avoid weakness, especially in himself, but freedom is not so much on his mind anymore. If anything, the staff at Foresta have an unnerving ability to get him to follow orders. Whenever he's faced with a direct order from one of them, he tends to follow it to a T without any sort of questioning. This is in direct contrast to the way he had been before.
Odd fact: He knows how to play the piano. However, he usually doesn't let on about this and it typically falls by the wayside since his power is a much more show-stopping performance.
Appearance:
His hair is a white-ish blue for some reason. He hates it, but it won't take dye or color. It's almost like water and it washes itself clean- it has that fluidic texture and everything. He does occasionally cut it short, but it grows rapidly back to the same, messy length.
His body is toned and muscular- he kept it that way for several reasons. It's easy to be fit if you spend a lot of time swimming. Surprisingly, despite his time outdoors, he doesn't seem to tan much, if at all.
He wears a lot of black- he thinks that it intimidates people You'll understand why he wants this when we get into personality.
His features are hardened, as is his outlook on life. He has a strong jawline, and a strong line to his nose. There's no roundness left to his features, which have set in the hard planes of adulthood. His eyes are a fierce blue-green and his gaze is invariable direct and piercing.
He stands at about 6'3", imposing in both his height and brawn.
Alex has several piercings on his ears, but they cannot be seen because his hair is generally covering them. He also has a tattoo of a stylized water dragon on his right shoulder blade, but again, unless you catch him swimming, you'd never see it.
Now: He is covered in a multitude of scars and bruises and his expression no longer lingers in abject hatred. He sometimes seems lost or completely emotionless. He still has a good bit of brawn, but his recent servitude has pared down some of the more unnecessary musculature.
Weaknesses: Alex's weaknesses depend on the situation. The boy's body is weak towards what most human bodies are weak against. He can be attacked in the standard way; electrocuted, burned, beaten, stabbed, shot, etc.
Alex's major weaknesses still focus around his interactions with other people. He doesn't have socially-acceptable responses to most situations, either pushing people away or attacking them. His pysche is still a bit of a mess from his impressment into servitude, so he's a bit more suggestible to people in authority, but it doesn't mean he's not dangerous. Certain situations will definitely set him off, often for not-very-definable reasons.
He hates people rather irrationally, other than Erin. However, given that his last sane interaction with her was a fight, not even that's something anybody could bank on. However, he would move heaven and earth to project her.
Strengths: Alex has an unnerving level of control over his power. As long as he has access to water, he can hurt a person. He's never held himself back from anything he's wanted (though this may change as he works for the school) and he's always had extremely strong convictions. They may be antisocial convictions, but they were always unmoveable.
He's physically strong and he takes care of his body. Even after months of being in captivity, he's still pretty solid. He stands a chance of winning fights even when he doesn't use his power.
He tends to be absolutely content being alone. He's the kind of person who has always been fiercely self-sufficient. Even in his teens, he was prepared to set off on his own and support himself. He can't stand to rely on anybody else.
History: His mother worked as an assistant for a wealthy businessman and his father was a lawyer. They divorced when he was young and this crystallized Alexander's descent into delinquency. Early on, he developed an inherent hate for his father. When he got older, this hate generalized into a contempt for everyone. As far as Alexander was concerned, anybody who needed anybody else was weak. Social ties were signs that one was fragile and easily broken.
He got into fights at school, was caught out after curfew, doing stuff that was either illegal or on the borderline. He ended up in juvie a couple of times and he was expelled from four different schools. That's not even mentioning the number of times he was suspended. His parents were at their wit's end when the situation came to a head.
He was fighting on a pier with a boy his equal in size. Alex claims to not remember, but it was over a girl. Both fighters ended up falling off the pier. The other boy hit his head and was seriously injured while Alexander merely changed. He had been on the cusp of drowning when his power manifested itself.
His brown eyes turned a light blue and his dark brown hair turned a bluish-white and changed texture to boot. His formerly tan skin turned a sickly (in his mind) fish-belly pale.
Naturally, he was a little angry at the physical change. But the powers he discovered when his legs got caught in a line while he was underwater were more than enough in compensation.
His parents had no choice. He needed to be sent to a gifted school. He was, and after some setbacks, he seemed to be doing well. He had even met a girl he liked. After fighting with her three times, he ended up going out with her. Unfortunately, they broke up and she went away.
This provided the stage for his worst regression yet. He went a little crazy and wound up expelled again.
He was through with it. Alex wanted nothing more than to use his gift for... societally-incorrect ends.
Fortunately for the public, he was caught trying to cross into Mexico on a stolen motorcycle. His father had tracked him down. This time, he felt that it was his call as to where Alexander would go next. He was all for a special school that catered to Alex's kind- delinquents and people that would never truly change.
If not for his mother's intercession, Alexander would not be going to Foresta. Much like the last time he was in a School for the Gifted, he's only biding his time in this place. He's not willing to tie himself to another place. In his mind, he opened up to one person and she'd exposed him in all his weakness. He's vowed to never fall prey to such feelings again.
Of course, his plans were for nought. He rediscovered his obsession for the girl and they seemed to have hit an accord, albeit a rocky one.
Long story short, though, they both graduated (he did so by the skin of his teeth and by replacing on-site apprenticeship credits in exchange for classes he'd skipped) and moved away to go find their futures. This put strain on their relationship and, right after a fierce fight between them, Alex stormed off. He then received word that Erin was in trouble and he rushed to rescue her.... and right into a trap he would have seen had he not been so befuddled by emotion.
Thus began his impressment into the service of a woman named Renata. She used her ability to control chemical pathways in the brain to take all of his loyalty and bend it to her will. It was at this point that he became a monster under her influence. He was with her from nearly the beginning of her rise to power. She used him to collect other Gifteds and subdue them long enough for her to pull them into her influence too.
He killed people too. In the arena she set up, he was often called upon to deal death in a variety of gruesome and mentally-scarring ways.
When the arena was shut down by a group of staff members from the school (and at least one police officer), he was rescued from his unwitting servitude and placed back on a path to, more or less, normal social relations. The boy's fate was discussed amongst the Headmistress and the Vice-Principal, as well as other interested parties, and it was decided that he needed to remain somewhere where he could be supervised, given therapy and guidance, and put to good use.
Thus, he was made an intern at the school. Given his state upon his rescue, he was in no real physical or mental state to argue with clearer heads. Furthermore, months of servitude had made him surprisingly tractable under most circumstances.
