NAME: Martina Kandless
AGE: Thirty
GENDER: Female
DESIRED POSITION: Headmistress
POWER: Martina has the ability to negate any power, this meaning that in her presence any gifted student could become just like a normal human for a certain amount of time. The power has run through her family for centuries, so techniques for being able to control it and so on have been passed down as well. She can manipulate it, stretch it, and basically do whatever she wants with it. She's had enough training with it, so she could make the whole school powerless for a split second if she wanted too. The weakness to her power is simply that she cannot use it in excess, mostly because her immune system could mess up and she could be left open to thousands of different diseases. This has differed with each family member who has inherited her this power, for example a previous member would pass out from exhaustion if they used the negating in excess.
PERSONALITY: Martina's personality is like two sides of a coin, like a mother and a fighter in a sense. On one side, Martina enjoys all sorts of sharp objects which includes knives, swords, daggers and so on. She is capable of fighting with these weapons, but if it came down to fists she'd be seen as a weak fighter. With her students, she is capable of being nurturing and compassionate because they are the closest thing she's ever had to children. Martina does have a habit though to be very strict, but she can also have her moments where she's nice. She's just more commonly strict. When students feel like they don't want to be at the school anymore, Martina gives them a choice to leave if it's before their time for graduating. She will of course try to talk them out of it, in hopes they will continue on with their education. In the long run though, she doesn't enjoy forcing anyone to do anything and will allow them to leave if they choose to do so.
Since Martina practically looks like she could be a student, she gets easily agitated with new students and teachers when they mistake her for so - she won't be too obvious about it though, it will just simply show through her body tensing up a slight bit. Martina's hobbies include gymnastics and attempting to cook every now and then. The woman has a tendency to slack off and avoid her duties on occasions, she does this simply by finding new places in the school that she never discovered as a child growing up and so by doing that she typically goes missing for a little while.
APPEARANCE: As I said in her personality, Martina pretty much looks like a fourteen year old. She stands around five foot and weighs nearly not as much as she should. Her demeanor most of the time is friendly and somewhat bouncy. She's not necessarily strong, but more so agile and like I said before limber. Her hair is pitch black and naturally curly, most of the time stopping just a little bit below her shoulder blades depending upon whether she straightens it or not. Her eyes are dark green, and she could be loosely described as one of those people whom can have a very intense stare. Her clothing usually consists of dull colored things that are comfortable, it's rare that she'll ever wear a suit but when the occasions calls for it she can. Most of the time, Martina likes to put on a little bit of concealer when it comes to make-up; but she's usually to lazy to bother with it everyday.
STRENGTHS: Martina is good at spotting if something is wrong with a person, and she is most of the time capable of helping a person sort through their problems. Of course, it doesn't always work but she does like to try most of the time. Martina's control over her power can also be considered a strength.
WEAKNESSES: Martina's body is prone to sickness due to her power and she can catch about anything under the sun if she uses her power too much. Martina also used to have a stutter when she was a child, she had taken speech therapy for it but if she is extremely nervous or anxious it is possible for it to pop back up every now and then.
HISTORY: For everything to make sense, I'll have to begin from Martina's great-great-great-great-great-great etc. grandfather. That's Timothy Kandless, the creator of Foresta. Timothy was born just a normal person like the rest of us, and as it says in Foresta history he saw how gifted people... (If you don't know the rest go ahead and read it now).
As Timothy made the school it slowly became popular among the gifted society and kids from all over the place came to Foresta. Timothy, being a naturally friendly man- soon made A LOT of friends. In his forties, he happened to meet a woman who was gifted and her power was simply to gift other people (I know we don't see that a lot nowadays). As you could most likely guess this woman gifted Timothy with the ability to negate other powers so he could keep better control of the school (Eventually this woman became his wife and they had two children). The catch was that every time he used it, a certain mental illness took effect long before it should have. Around his sixties, Timothy gained was plagued with Alzheimer's; and he lost all memory of his whole entire life. All of his friends would gather in attempts to gather back his memories and what not, but when they finally succeeded- It only last for five minutes. During those five minutes he told his closest friend and life long companion, "I'd rather die than not remember my life." With those words being said, his wife knew what had to be done. Needless to say, Timothy had a painless death.
Now, fast forward about eighty plus years:
The Kandless name happens to come from Martina's father, whom was named after Timothy. Her mother's name is Lucia, and from as far as she can remember Martina was raised among gifted people. She attended Foresta Academy since her father was the headmaster at the time. Her whole day from a young age was slightly routine, and around the age of thirteen Martina happened to make friends with a person who had an affinity with metal and steel. This person was the start of her strange obsession with knives, etc. because he would show her different tricks and it seemed relaxing playing with knives compared to the rest of her day. Playing with knives and so on soon became an outlet for Martina that she never stopped doing. Around the age of sixteen, when her father caught her with knives- that soon no longer became an option for the time being... so, Martina took up cooking and soon became very talented. It was when she graduated that Martina took up playing with sharp objects again, and also working hard to stretch her power to new limits. Around her 24th birthday, her father ended up retiring and Martina decided to take care of the school.
