Hey all! So, for anyone interested, I’m looking for a sort of vengeful spirit type of character. Before getting into specifics though, I feel like covering the backstory is necessary.
A little while back there was a site-wide event where students were being kidnapped by a gang of underground criminals. This gang held the students in cages and used them for blood sport, a form of gifted people cockfighting where two or more students were forced to battle it out until there was only one left standing, the loser usually ending up dead. One of my characters, Miller, was caught up in this event and became a favourite of the gang’s ringleader. She had a type of mind control power that made anyone addicted to her touch, Miller included. As such, Miller was used in many of these battles and won outright since he was designed and trained specifically to hunt and kill gifted people.
Considering how many people Miller killed during his time in the arena, there’s bound to be one with a brother, sister, best friend, or parent that is looking for revenge in the name of their loved one. That’s where you come in. There aren’t many specifics in terms of what this character could be, so long as they have a strong sense of justice or vengeance.
We can talk specifics about how this plot could resolve, as I’m open to a variety of options as long as they build an interesting character dynamic between Miller and the vengeful spirit. Maybe they butt heads a couple times, leading to extended fight scenes until the vengeful spirit comes to terms with their loved one’s death. Maybe the vengeful spirit never grows out of their resentment for Miller and seeks to kill or discredit him.
Vengeance doesn’t need to be central to their character, but, you know, dead loved one is usually a pretty good motivating factor. They could be the nicest person in the world, but have this seething hatred for whoever killed their loved one. Heck, you can make it multiple loved ones, so long as they were students from Foresta.
How they learn that Miller is the one that killed their loved one is to the writer’s discretion, though, it’s pretty easy to connect the giant jab marks to Miller considering that his blade is very uniquely shaped.
As for powers, I don’t have any ideas set in stone, in fact, this can also be to the writer’s discretion. If you’re looking for some specifics though I do have a concept you could use. I thought it could be cool if the vengeful spirit has the ability to command/sire ghosts to do their bidding, that way they could command a small army of the spirits of Miller’s victims to either fight or haunt him.
I’ll also leave a link to Miller’s app, so you can compare and contrast. Maybe there are certain aspects of his character that you could twist into the vengeful spirit.
