Today was inventory day, or at least half of the day was. Moving around the nurse's office with ease, Jared stepped over to medicine cabinet to start working on the lists of how much medicine they had, how much they had given out during the past month and how much they would possibly need in the future. The responsibilities were a little different than when he was working at the hospital in town, but the area felt just the same. "Did we really give out this much ibuprofen?" Jared asked his companion in the room then, giving the numbers on his sheet a critical eye. It was hard sometimes for him to remember how many kids were actually in this school, despite the fact that they had a constant influx of kids on a day to day basis.
Despite that, Jared still had a hard time being completely straight laced and because of that today the young man's was a bright purple cropped short and he sported dark grey eyes. The eyes themselves gave him sort of a serious manner, but the hair off set the effect quite a bit. Besides that Jared was clad in a large white coat with navy blue slacks and white tennis shoes beneath. His belt was only noticeable thanks to the quite defining bulge that circled around his waistline.
Glancing back at Jamie then, Jared gave the other man a curious look for a brief moment. "Don't you have a student that you're supposed to mentor today?"

Jaime pored over a computer. As Jared had been calling out totals, what they had versus what they had previously ordered, he typed it into a spreadsheet so that this would be so much easier. If they could remember to update the spreadsheet as they finished bottles, they wouldn't have such a time of this. They could also start labeling shelves, if not for the fact that Jaime was pretty sure it would encourage students to steal some of the stronger stuff. "Mm. Seems like students are getting into more trouble lately."
Jaime himself sported blue-green scrubs, comfortable shoes, and a stethoscope draped around his neck. Besides these trappings of his work, he also wore a bunch of bands around his wrist, each with a backstory he'd be embarrassed to explain to students. He ran a hand through his unkempt hair and replied, "Si. She will be here soon, I think. Be nice to have another healer about. The thing last Winter..." He stopped himself, pushing back some latent, residual anger.
Perhaps it was the grief of losing his brother to violent circumstance, but Renata's scheme had affected him more than he cared to admit. Caroline had suggested that he start seeing the school counselor, but that felt like admitting weakness. Jaime was sure he could harness this anger and be stronger because of it, even if it was so unlike his normal personality.
"Her name is Estelle. She was part of the group that broke into the cells when the teachers put a stop to Renata's fighting ring."

Jared nodded in response to Jamie's words, "When are they not, I wonder." Jared said easily. As Jamie mentioned what had happened last Winter, Jared gritted his teeth in response. Although it was unlikely that many people at the school new about it, Jared had received a lot of hatred from the villagers that didn't agree with the drugs being passed around. It was easy for them to blame him seeing as how obvious his power was. Most had no idea how it truly worked, so it was difficult trying to convince people that he couldn't make potions that gave other people powers. "You're right, it seems as though healers have been lacking as of recent." Jared restrained his frustrated memories and instead continued to focus on the task at hand - nodding at Jamie as he mentioned the students name.
As if on cue, a knock came to the door of the nurse's office. "Hopefully that's her then and not a sick or injured student."

Jaime laughed at the joke, adding, "I guess we were not much different when we were young. I remember there being some chatter about you getting into fights with the guy who's now interning with Serenity." His eyes sparkled- he was not sure where he heard it- maybe Caroline?- but he meant nothing by the comment. It was fashionable to tell themselves that the next generation was rougher, but it was never really true.
That sort of thinking made him think of his brother, who'd started wise and had only gotten wiser as his precognition had built. Jaime went to open the door, muttering something in Spanish. The topic was frustrating, even though he did get along well with Jared usually. Jaime made friends easily, given his laid-back demeanor. Since his youth, he'd chilled out quite a bit.
Once upon a time, he was a much rougher sort. Growing up, the only reason he'd had any semblance of a moral code had been his older half-brother. And even that hadn't kept him from doing some pretty reprehensible things before his power kicked in and he'd had an epiphany about his place in the world.
Emilio's death had caused him to backslide a tad. Not a full reversal, but enough that he was no longer a gentle soul. He'd pretty much lost it back on the farm, fighting off Renata's scum and forgetting his role.
He forced up a smile when he opened the door, greeting the girl on the other side of it with, "Hello, Estelle. Thank you for coming."
