Eris had been walking through the forest for quite awhile now, but despite that their conversation had been lacking at least on Eris's side. The young man was having a hard time coming up with more things to talk with Iris about and as they started to pass a nearby cave, Eris had gone completely silent. Just be nice, "It's not as easy as that." Eris mumbled to himself, only slightly aware of the varying forest noises around them. "Iris, I've been meaning to say more to you... it's just that..." the young man stopped himself then, looking around the area that they were in once more having heard an odd noise in the difference. Pulling his bag closer to him, Eris moved even closer to Iris as well, "I don't really know what I'm supposed to say sometimes." He admitted to the girl, trying his best to open up to her.
Opening up his bag, Eris pulled Athena out and looked down at the doll in an odd manner. "Sometimes, I think all the souls in my head are the emotions that I don't have." He said this to the girl quietly, briefly adjusting the dolls hair. Darling, don't do that. I can do it myself. "It's fine, I can do it." he said quietly. It was then another noise echoed near them, this time Eris was able to recognize that this noise was coming from the cave. Making a motion that would put Iris behind him, Eris turned toward the cave in time to see an animal walk out of it with the most disgusting smell emitting from it's body. The animal in question was none other than a large bear with bared teeth that had appeared to made it's brief home in the cave and now looked very angry to see Eris and Iris. "Hey, Iris. You should probably back up, I can take care of this." It felt strange for once in his life confronting a problem for someone else, at least that's how Eris was imagining it in his head.
Athena came to life in his hand then, jumping down and rolling onto the ground to face the bear in question. Before Athena had the chance to do anything though, a sudden light came from Eris's bag and the boy almost stumbled back - careful of Iris's presence behind at the sudden draw of energy from his body. "How could you be so idiotic as to try and take this fight from me, Athena." Erebus snapped at Athena, her dark hair catching some of the light through the trees. Athena turned back toward Erebus with pout of frustration, "I don't even know how you got out here! You know Eris doesn't like you being out."
Before anyone else had the chance to respond though, the bear swiped at the two dolls - causing both of them to jump which almost made Eris smile. That is, he would have smiled if he had the ability too. The souls had done what his goal was in the first place, drawing the bears attention away from him and Iris.

Iris had willingly agreed to walk with Eris back to the school, although her thoughts had been consumed with worry for Silas throughout the duration of the walk. She couldn't shake off the feeling that perhaps she should've stayed, but at the same time, she was positive that following Eris had been the right idea. Besides, saying no most likely would've been taken as an insult, and the girl wished to avoid such unintended hostility. It wasn't until the boy she'd previously been referring to spoke that she returned to reality, her boots pressing against the forest floor in near silence. "I-It's all r-right, E-Eris, I-I don't w-want you t-to feel p-pressured to t-talk to me," she began, peering over towards him as he then proceeded to close the distance between them at an unfamiliar sound, responding to his second statement, "Th-That's o-okay, I d-don't e-either.. I-I think c-conversations a-are meant to be u-undecided r-rather than p-premeditated, though." Her senses had been slightly heightened as Eris had drawn closer to her, since her anxiety was raised with this as well.
She smiled gently as Eris brought out Athena, the soul that the girl particularly liked to talk to. In many ways, she resembled Minnie, and thus Iris could connect to her on a much more emotional level. It was then that the bear had revealed itself to them, snarling ferociously as it began walking out from the cave. Before she could even begin to formulate any sort of reaction to the situation, she felt a hand adjust herself behind the young man, blinking a couple of times in bewilderment at Eris' determination to handle it. "U-Um," she began softly, instinctively beginning to rub her freshly-closed cut upon her fingertip against the necklace and feeling some sort of relief from the tension. However, the thought that animals were attracted to blood suddenly dawned on her the moment after she'd finished the disgraceful deed, shaking out her hand to flick some of the scarlet droplets off of her skin in a frenzy. During this time, it seemed that the bear had attempted to attack Athena and a doll that Iris wasn't familiar with, but she furrowed her brow in worry at Eris as he appeared to almost stiffen. She recalled that Poseidon had spoken of him growing too weary when the souls used their abilities, and thus felt a surge of bravery course through her in an attempt to aid her friend. "I-I can h-help t-too," she said, stepping out from behind the young man with her hands raised.
Within her hands, a light, lavender-hued substance began to procure itself from the taut energy lacing through the air from the impending violence. She inhaled and exhaled shakily as well, now the energy beginning to pulsate within the small area of her palms with an almost liquid-like effect, swirling in on itself. Until each spherically shaped mass of violet energy had reached about the size of a dodgeball in each hand, she sent them forward with a push of her arms, causing it to elongate into beams of sorts. The pillars of energy crashed into the earth at the beasts paws, not aiming to make contact with it, but simply to splinter the earth in front of it and create a cloud of dust and debris to go flying towards it. It was an attempt to intimidate the creature and fend it off without engaging in battle, however Iris was only halfway confident in her plan. Already, using both of her hands at once began to feel a bit dizzying, but she showed no sign of the weakness, having stood at Eris' side. The only betraying factor that displayed her constant fear was her quivering, which had become just a bit more violent due to the circumstances.

The sudden display of Iris's power briefly surprised Eris, since it wasn't something that he often saw from the girl - that is using her power. It gave him a strange sense of pride, seeing her use it in such an extreme amount. That was all the way up until he looked at her and noticed her fearful shaking. She was afraid, of course he figured as most. The young man didn't have too much time to think about that though just as he felt a draw from his own energy and looked back to the bear and his dolls to see that Erebus was drawing from the shadows near the cave, making what appeared to be rope in the form of darkness to subdue the bear.
The bear in question didn't take to kindly at this and lashed out against the bindings, as well as the intimidation that Iris had tried. It moved through the dust roughly, almost stumbling thanks to the fact that Erebus had managed to wrap up it's legs momentarily. Instead when it got back on it's feet again, the bear looked up and it's eyes connected to Iris first. Both Eris and Athena noticed this, but the light doll moved faster. Creating a sword of light that was about six foot in length (quite large in comparison to the less than one foot doll that was wielding it). The doll jumped and brought the sword down on the bears hindquarters, causing the animal in question to stumble back momentarily and let out a noise of distress.

For the most part, Iris was stunned that she'd been able to muster up a shred of bravery, and a few moments after she'd fired the shot, a weak smile tugged at the corners of her lips. However, once Erebus had conjured the rope from the shadows meant to bind the bear down, she emitted a soft squeak of surprise as it cried out, instinctively taking a step away from the creature. Hearing anything in distress greatly bothered her, and guilt consumed her like a steadily growing poison. Iris had habitually raised her arms in front of herself, the courage she'd once possessed bleeding out of her little by little. She couldn't even cast a glance at Eris now that her more cowardly side had revealed itself, a bit too frightened to try and utilize her abilities now. After all, too much stress rendered her absolutely worthless in a power's sense.
If this wasn't enough, the menacing glare the beast seemed to give to her the moment it'd recovered definitely sent her into a bout of fear. "I-I'm sorry," she breathed, as if trying to reason with the beast that she'd been wrong. Another, nearly incoherent apology slipped from her whispering lips once Athena had brought down a large, glowing, sword-like object onto the bear's backside. It was grotesque to hear its cries of pain, thus spreading out shivers across Iris' back like a spider in retreat. Everything about this she despised, having to cause pain to another creature at her own hand.. It had been quite some time since she'd had to dwell on this, but the thoughts of the orphan back at home that she'd attacked entered her mind, only resulting in her backing away a few more steps and squeak out, "I-I didn't m-mean t-to, r-really, I-I'm very s-sorry..!" Memories intermixed with reality as she stopped her retreat from the bear, having taken a few steps backwards, and now stood, trembling as her throat constricted with emotion. Her fear wafted off of her in excessive amounts at this point, and she was ashamed that she'd succumbed to her past mistakes and tauntings so easily. Eris and the souls soon seemed to fade from existence as she curled inwards on herself, drawing her shoulders forward slightly as she trembled.

It seemed as though after the bear had been injured that it started to retreat back into the cave, Erebus moved as if she were wanting to do more to it - but stopped when Eris held out a hand that suggested that he was controlling her body now. "Really, Eris. I thought we'd gotten past you trying to do this." The doll said the young man with a somewhat vicious sounding tone. "No, we haven't." he said then simply, but before he had the chance to do anything more Eris glanced over at Iris noticing how much the girl was trembling. With his focus briefly off of Erebus, the doll darted into the cave - leaving Athena, Iris and Eris to themselves. With so much activity going on, Eris felt a sudden fatigue wash over him and the young man collapsed to his knees. "Athena, you need to go find her. I'll call you back if we need you." Eris then said to the doll. "Of course, dear." She replied quickly and then darted off into the cave after Erebus.
The distance between him and the dolls as well as how fast they were moving brought a pounding headache to the young man. "Iris, we should be fine now." He said to the girl then, laying down on the ground and closing his eyes in a manner that suggested he was going to sleep. As he did so, the other souls in his mind stayed silent. It was apparent to them that he was using an extreme amount of energy in letting both Athena and Erebus be out at the same time.

Having been so absorbed in her fears of the bear, she had only jerked up at Athena and the other doll racing into the cave after it. It seemed a bit odd that the two would have to go in there once the beast seemed terrified enough, but she didn't dwell on it for long. Instead, it was Eris who caught her attention as he laid on the ground, causing her eyes to widen in absolute horror. For the moment, she'd cast the fact aside that he grew fatigued when using the dolls, and felt that perhaps he'd been injured during the point she'd cowered. Once more, guilt swept over her like a nauseating serum, causing the girl to dart to his side without another instant of hesitation and kneel beside him. Her breathing pace had increased rapidly as she gazed upon him, afraid that he may be falling unconscious in a negative fashion.
She bit her lip as she watched him, having heard his words of reassurance that nothing was wrong but nothing more. "U-Um, E-Eris? A-Are you okay?" she said, her voice edged with the shrill point of panic. For a few moments, she was simply gazing at him in disbelief, leaned over him ever so slightly in utter worry. If he did grow ill or something like that, she was certain that her nerves would prevent her from doing much good for the situation. However, wishing to make sure that he wasn't on the brink of death or anything ridiculous, she placed her hands gingerly on his shoulders, her expressive, green eyes surveying his features. Her hair barely brushed against the sides of his jaw, but it'd provide the odd, tickling sensation nonetheless. Mainly, she could only hope that he was going to be all right, and that her brief period of weakness hadn't been the cause of his downfall. "I-I'm sorry, I-I should've d-done m-more," she breathed, concern lacing through her tone.

It would have been nice to fall asleep then, the sounds of the forest were relaxing in their own way. Eris was entertaining the thought all the way up until Iris started talking to him and it was obvious to him that she was more than worried about his state at the time being. "I'm fine." It was a lie, what else could he say? That his power was exhausting? "You did fine, we're lucky actually that it didn't try to do more." He then said to the girl in a quiet voice, her hair causing him to open his eyes briefly to look at the girl. "Would you mind laying with me?" he then asked Iris suddenly, laying out one of his arms in a manner that would allow her to use it as a pillow.

Of course, Iris was relieved at Eris's reply, but it didn't quell the majority of her worries. He seemed utterly exhausted upon closer inspection, and thus she was growing inclined to leave him be so that he could rest. However, before she could suggest this, she was halted by his rather abrupt inquisition. "O-Of course n-not," she'd answered automatically, before blinking a few times in complete bewilderment. She wasn't quite sure what she'd just agreed to, since his tone had the same inflection it'd had earlier when he 'requested' to go on a walk with her. Iris kept her eyes fixated curiously upon him as he outstretched his arm then, as if gesturing her to lay on it. Not wanting to give him the wrong impression or act rudely to him, the girl retracted her hands from his shoulders and gently laid herself slowly beside him, resting her head gingerly upon his bicep. Her hair curled in curvaceous waves across the earthen ground, her hands drawn close together as she lay beside him. She'd maintained the position so as to be facing him, her face a bit flushed with confusion and the fluster of the moment.
"A-Are you s-sure th-this p-position is c-comfortable f-for you? I-I do not w-wish to b-bring you d-displeasure," she breathed, due to the fact that a great deal of distance had been closed between them. Unlike Eris, she was far too jittery to even consider the prospect of slumber. Perhaps he'd wanted her to rest so that he didn't feel alienated for wanting to fall asleep. It seemed logical enough, but it certainly caught the girl off guard as she attempted to collect her bearings and thoughts. Iris's body had begun to subtly shiver at the physical contact initiated, however it wasn't anymore than she would on a daily basis. In fact, it might've been a tad less violent than expected, seeing that she'd known Eris for some time now.

Eris let out a small sigh as Iris closed the distance between them, not bothering to move himself anymore. It was then that Eris opened his eyes momentarily, realizing that Athena and Erebus had finally stopped moving. Were they alright, or was he going to have to go find the dolls later? The thought brought out another sigh from the boy. "You're fine right here." He said to the girl then, noticing that she had started shivering.
"Are you cold?" Eris asked her, a tad bit of concern lacing his words. It was nice for him to have silence from the other souls for once, but he knew it wouldn't last for that long once Athena and Erebus were back. "Do you ever get tired when you use your power?" Eris asked Iris then, curious as to whether or not her power had the same side effects as his.

The girl had established herself in a way that although their bodies lay close to one another, nothing else but her head remained touching him, not even permitting her legs to brush against his, despite the fact that they were still in close quarters. However, now that she'd begun to settle down a bit, since he reassured her that he was comfortable with their current positions, she felt a bit weary from relief, her body not quite trembling as violently as it had been before. "O-Oh, no, I-I'm fine," she murmured in response to his inquisition, never having quaked as a result of the weather. In fact, she'd chosen to wear shorts today due to the warmth of the climate. Besides, she'd never voice any sort of unhappiness to Eris anyways, or anyone for that matter, for the sake of shielding them from any of her pestilent problems.
His next question was a bit surprising, but Iris wasn't appalled by it or anything. It seemed logical that he'd ask her that, seeing that Athena and the other doll had practically just drained him of his strength. Furrowing her brow in contemplation for a few moments, she ventured to try and explain it to him, "W-Well, yes, i-if I use i-it e-excessively. I-I don't think m-my b-body can h-handle b-being a m-medium f-for transporting th-the energy into m-my palms f-for too l-long, s-so I get fatigued t-too.. I-I mean I-I guess i-it's j-just me b-being weak, though," she replied quietly, letting silence elapse once more. She kept her eyes locked upon him, the anxiety having died down considerably, however the quiet was a bit unnerving. "U-Um.. A-Are Athena a-and the o-other doll o-okay? I-I can g-go after th-them s-so you can r-rest, i-if you need m-me to," she offered, her voice very subdued to the closed distance between their heads.

Even though Iris had made it so that he could only feel her head laying on his arm, in one way Eris felt like he could feel the rest of her body despite the fact that they weren't touching completely. His exhaustion though kept him on his back, despite wanting to roll onto his side and hold her in his arms. Did she even realize how adorable she was to him sometimes? Every now and then the young man felt like he was even being teased, but it wasn't like he could verbally express that even if he tried. "That's good." He mumbled in response, only feeling a tiny bit relieved as Iris's shivering slowed down.
Listening to her speak, it seemed that it was easier to really hear what she was saying through all the stammering and stuttering since he was tired. It was probably because the world felt so slowed down around him. "If that's the case, I'm just as weak." He said to the girl in hopes of making her feel better. One part of him wished that he would have just let her stay at the beach with Silas so neither one of them would have come across the bear in the first place. Another part of him though, was glad that she was here and satisfied with himself that he had gotten her away from the other boy.
"Athena will get Erebus eventually. I wouldn't recommend you going after Erebus, she doesn't have a good opinion of you - or anyone else for that matter."

The instant Eris had brought himself down in an attempt to comfort Iris, she felt an unnecessary surge of guilt course through her veins, shaking her head frantically as she waved her hands a bit to emphasize her point, "N-No, i-it's not that! S-Surely y-your power j-just takes m-more energy th-than mine d-does, y-you're quite strong! Y-You e-even lifted m-me up b-before, a-and that requires a l-large a-amount of effort!" She hoped that by stating that he'd raised up another human being in his arms would encourage him that he wasn't weak in any means. And besides, she felt partially responsible for making him feel such a way, as if she'd indirectly obligated him to verbally hinder his own abilities, and the urgent desire to correct her errors was almost too much to bear. It was odd that such small and almost meaningless words could have such a momentous effect on her, but that could surely be because of Iris's inevitable insecurity.
She frowned slightly at his second statement, murmuring softly, "O-Oh.. I-I'm sorry f-for m-making her d-dislike me.." It certainly wasn't a foreign concept to encounter someone, or in this case more like something, dislike her, but she was a bit surprised that she hadn't even met the doll before. Nonetheless, she couldn't dwell on it for too long, for a loud, yowl-like cry erupted from the distance, causing her to instinctively yelp, flinching and huddling herself towards Eris without being cognizant of what she was doing. Even the harmless cry of some animal had given her a fright, and it'd subsided only a few moments after it'd sounded. Her eyes had shut as well, curling her fingers into the underside of her knuckles, and it wasn't until she waited for any other noises to split the silence that she peeked an eye open, somewhat confused as she heard a steady thumping against her ear. Furrowing her brows, it took her a few more moments of confused silence to realize that her head had involuntarily rested itself on his chest above his heart, causing her to squeak out hastily, "W-Wait, u-um, I-I'm sorry..!"

Eris looked briefly confused for a moment as the girl talked about how he had lifted her up before. Maybe it was the exhaustion that was causing problems in his memory, "When was this?" he asked her then - feeling now that the souls were moving closer to them now. He wanted to argue with her that she shouldn't apologize because Erebus was rude anyways, but it was no use and the young man stopped before he even started.
There was a noise then that Eris couldn't be bothered to move for even if he tried, but when Iris's head found itself on his chest - the young man finally found it in him to move his arm that Iris had been laying on. Placing his hand gently on top of her head, without even realizing it he started to stroke her brown locks. "It's comforting." He mumbled quietly, briefly opening his eyes to look up toward the sky before closing them again.

Just as Iris was beginning to lift herself off of him, she paused as a hand was pressed upon her head, freezing almost instantly from surprise. She blinked quite a few times as she remained silent, her body breaking out in involuntary chills as his palm pet her hair, like Minnie had countless times before in a desperate attempt to calm her down. Instinctively, she'd begun to shiver at the contact, trapped beneath his slowly moving hand. "U-Um," she breathed, clenching her fists tightly together as apprehension and sporadic waves of heat coursed through her, displaying itself rosily on her cheeks. Iris was having a very difficult time fending off the powerful urge to flee from the scene entirely and apologize, and for a few moments, she did just that, feigning her natural instinct of flight.
Biting her lip, she felt unease get the best of her, her body quaking so violently that she had difficulty controlling it. Her heart was racing so swiftly that she was positive he'd be able to hear it, the loud thumping seeming to echo in her ears. But, before she could do anything, rain began to slowly fall from the sky as a delicate sun shower. However, it gave the girl an excuse to end the flustering contact between the two of them by sitting up, swiftly stripping off her white cardigan to hold it over Eris in an umbrella-like structure. Her rosy-hued blouse was sprinkled with the water from the sky, as well as the droplets beading on her skin like small crystals. "I-I do not w-want you t-to g-get wet," she murmured quietly, finding the slight chill of the water matched with the humid atmosphere to be an oddly appealing mixture.

Eris found himself thoroughly enjoying what was happening, despite the overwhelming exhaustion - all the way up until the point that it started to rain. With no attempt at a frown, the young man opened his eyes and started to move to sit up - waving his hand at the clothing that Iris held over him he started to scoot toward a nearby tree so that he had something that would keep him sitting up. Any second now, they would be back and go back into the ring and Eris would eventually get to relax. Almost on cue, from the cave Athena was walking toward them with Erebus tied up - a smile on the doll's face. "Caught her!" Athena exclaimed triumphantly as Erebus rambled off a stream of curses.
The dark doll was struggling and as Athena was briefly distracted by seeing how Eris was looking, Erebus escaped once more. "Erebus stop this please!" Athena finally exclaimed, watching the dark doll as it smirked at both Athena and the almost unconscious Eris. "Are you kidding? This is great." Before Erebus had another chance to move then, a sudden light came from Eris's bag and Gaia emerged. Before the doll could say anything though, it was then that Eris finally passed out - his body falling sideways onto the ground. In turn all the dolls fell to the ground, becoming inanimate objects once more.
