The sun began to creep down the horizon, shadows of the surrounding buildings and structures hid the alleys in dusk. What better time for shady dealings? Cade shrouded himself in darker clothing than usual, he didn’t exactly want to be recognised or have attention pulled to himself. He knew what he was doing wasn’t favourable to the public eye nor was it to himself, but he couldn’t halt his cravings for anything. He wandered down a series of maze-like alleys until he found the usual meeting area. Despite how vile he felt, he still wore a greeting grin.
A shade of a man approached the math teacher’s side, his hands stuffed in his jean pockets. He hardly looked above the age of twenty and he could even be a student at Foresta, but Cade didn’t recognize him. There were another few figures hidden within the shadows, but as Cade already knew it was best never to question a person’s muscle. He nodded at the man. “Heard this was the best place in town, though not quite an inviting environment you have going on. I have some friends who could spice up the décor if you’d like” he spoke smoothly as he reached into his sleek leather jacket’s pocket.
The man had an airy laugh and approached closer. “Don’t stick around to just one place, its bad business” he grinned back at his new costumer. “So, what is it exactly you’re interested in?” the man questioned further as he squinted.
“Oh, I’m just interested in the best you got”
“Power enhancers?”
Cade was quick to question what exactly ‘power enhancers’ were. Not something he’d ever heard of before, but maybe it was some new slang word for other drugs he didn’t know about. He could never keep track of the new age slang words especially after being clean for so long. “Uh, no. Just a bit of weed, nothing more. It’s still called that now isn’t it? After all these years I can never be sure” he joked. Showing some ignorance toward the subject better ensured the dealer that he wasn’t some kind of mole, it was all about trying to seem like an in between of casual and legitimate. Most moles tried too hard in one direction or the other.
The dealer nodded and closed in on Cade’s position. He pulled out a small baggie out of his pocket and Cade drew out a couple of bills to quickly finish the transaction. Cade pocketed the drug quickly while the other man snatched the cash. “Have a good evening” he smiled as he turned and wandered off. Though as his movements became further from the area, the man investigated the bills that he was handed after his eyes caught something. He noticed the similar serial numbers. He whistled quickly and his two ‘coworkers’ rushed out of their shadows beginning their chase.
The dead silence of the night amplified the sound of their stomping feet to almost thunderous levels. Cade had little trouble determining the source of the noise and accelerated from a slow walk to a full on sprint. He wasn’t quite sure what might’ve ticked them off, but there were a few possibilities that came to his mind that stopped him from believing he could talk his way out of it. He needed to lure them into a more open area first, that would only increase his chances of survival. After swiftly navigating through the maze of buildings he found his opening. It wasn’t a street he recognized, but it was better than where he was previous.
His pace slowed as he tried to catch a bit of his breath. It was a fairly long chase so it would only make sense that his pursuers would probably be equally as tired even if they were able to follow him perfectly. Though as he leant an arm against a nearby building, they too exited out of the alley and spotted him almost immediately. Cade’s eyes locked onto them as they both pulled out a switch blade and crept toward the teacher. “Come on… you guys. There’s bound to be a witness around… here. How about you cut your loses… hm?” the teacher panted as he backed himself into the spotlight of a street lamp.
Neither spoke back to him, but one rushed at him while charging the swing of his knife. Cade watched him attentively and let the man approach him until finally he swung his arm to stab. Cade blocked his jab at him by gripping against his opponent’s hand as he made his movements. The tips of his fingers glazed against the blade and he quickly envisioned the object in his head. As a perfect clone of the man’s blade started to form in Cade’s hand he hopped backwards before the drug dealer’s muscle attempted to play off his last move.
“There, we’re a bit more fair now” he stated as he held his newly formed knife in a readied position.

Serenity had just finished up with a small shopping trip for the evening, in fact the woman had really gone to the store for one specific thing. Resting upon her surprisingly feminine nose were aviator sunglasses. Realistically the sunglasses were impractical for a blind person and she wasn't really sure when she would really wear them besides while walking out of the store, but the woman had felt a nice urge - and it was rare that she gave in to her urges.
"-more fair now."
Serenity paused for a moment as she heard a familiar voice, looking in the direction of where she had heard the male voice. "Cade, is that you?" she called out to the other teacher, tucking her receipt into one of her jean pockets. Since she didn't have any classes for the day the woman had decided to wear something besides shorts and tank top. Instead she had dressed herself in a pair of light blue jeans the emphasized her figure quite nicely as well a loose fitting pale green t-shirt. For shoes the woman had slipped on a pair of flips flops, it was obvious that she had just decided to go to the store and go back home. Adjusting her new sunglasses as well, an odd sort of thing to wear in the evening - Serenity tapped her cane against the ground. Suddenly pausing as she recognized that there was more than just one person near her.

Cade paused for a moment as he heard his name being called out. From the sound of the voice he knew exactly who it was, but he didn’t dare detract his attention to look at Serenity. A couple of big reasons, two of them standing right in front of him in that moment. The other being that if he acknowledged her, the two would know his name and letting organized criminals who had it out for him know his name was never a good idea. Given the popularity of the name Cade, it wouldn’t take long for them to track him down. Though there was hardly anything he could do to believably cover it up.
“I don’t know how many times I have to tell you lady, I’m not Cade and no I don’t know where your boyfriend is!” he spoke in an irritated tone of voice. It wasn’t the most concrete cover up at the moment, but it was the best kind he could think of under pressure. Hopefully it was enough for the brutes to buy.
Speaking of which, the one that had attempted a strike at Cade backed off after having his hand mangled by the math teacher. His attention was focused on the woman who had entered the scene, but only for a brief moment so that he could step back into the shade outside of the street light. Neither needed a witness to catch a glimpse of their face after dealing with the counterfeiter. He soothed his hand slightly and allowed his partner in crime to handle Cade while he fixed himself.
The other bodyguard played a completely different tactic to that of his partner, instead of one powerful swoop of his blade he charged at the similarly dressed teacher with his shiv prepared in an underhand position. His fist clamped down on Cade as he was distracted by Serenity for a brief time, but Cade blocked his swing with his own forged knife. A sharp cling of their steel weapons echoed for a second. Cade took this time to construct another blade in his opposite hand. If he was going to spar against two knife wielding felons than he might as well prepare two knives of his own. “You’re outclassed, back off before you get hurt” he threaten as he showed his enemy the knife being formed in his hand. “I can do this all night.”

Serenity's mouth dropped as Cade hollered at her that he wasn't Cade and something about a boyfriend. It was obvious from the sudden twist in her lips that the woman was angry, what sort of trouble was he in anyways to make it so that his name stayed unknown. Resisting the urge to holler back at the man, Serenity started walking toward him instead. "What are you talking about?" Serenity started with a hysterical tone in her voice. "I could have sworn that we came across each other yesterday and you said you saw my Joseph." By the point the woman was close enough to here Cade threaten the two men and as he did so Serenity just so happened to end up behind one of them, sending a quick and forceful punch to the back of one of the man's head closest to hear which made the man in question lose his balance and fall down for a moment.
"Have you seen my Joseph?" Serenity suddenly said to the attacker that she had already injured, reaching down to grab the man by the collar to pull him back up. "He's about as tall as you and he says he doesn't like the way I handle my kitchen knives." With a demented smile that was all teeth, Serenity tapped her cane against the ground and moved her thumb to a button that made the cane quickly turn into a surprisingly large cleaver. "He says that I'm a bad cooker, but I just want to tell him that I can do better."

When Serenity called back to him with a pitch of anger in her tone, Cade was a bit nervous that she might not have understood his reasoning behind lying or didn’t care. Luckily for him, as her approach became closer she seemed to be playing along with it after all. It was good to know that she wasn’t too brain numb to understand the circumstances especially since she couldn’t even see what was truly going on. She even guided herself to the back of one of the dealer’s bodyguards and began to manhandle him like he was nothing. The fact that she carried a cleaver of some sort in her cane gave Cade a bit of discomfort, but thankfully she didn’t reach for that during their incident at the gym otherwise there would’ve been two chances of death that day.
There was a slight falter in the man’s eyes, the one opposite to him that is. The other one had been taken down by Serenity fairly quickly. The change in vision suggested that the guy was probably nervous about his odds right about now and that was good news to Cade. Street thugs with confidence were so much harder to fight. His blade finished forming and he placed it right next to the guy’s jugular. Since their other blades were interlocked in a duel at the moment that gave Cade’s other blade a good advantage. “I believe that’s checkmate. How about this, you run off and we pretend this never happened” he tried to bargain.
“Boss! We need back up!” the man bellowed behind him as his neck tried to avoid being cut. “We got a gifted o’er ‘ere!”
With that, the dealer finally made his appearance and kept his distance from the confrontation because given his capabilities he was better off away from the fight. He held both his palms out in front of him like he was signaling to stop a car and he shot a fire ball at Serenity from one hand while blowing an icy wind out of the other which encompassed the entire section of the street.
“Lady! You got a fire ball heading your way!” he shouted as he knocked the street thug to the side. For good measure, he stabbed the guy’s leg to incapacitate him for the time being. A fire and ice spewing dealer was something they’d both have to deal with over some ordinary street thugs.

While taking care of one of the men that was bothering Cade, Serenity heard a yell her way that caused the woman to quickly drop to her knees - feeling the heat fly past her Serenity then quickly stood up and directed her attention toward the owner of the thrown fire ball with surprising accuracy for a blind woman. Rushing at the man with speed, Serenity changed her cane from a cleaver into a sword in a heart beat, but just as she was about to close the distance between the two the man caught Serenity by her throat. Holding the teacher in the air, Serenity tried with all her might not to drop her sword but ended up doing so anyway and bringing both of her hands up to her throat in an attempt to loosen the mans grip on her throat.

In the heat of the action, somehow the young looking dealer had Serenity within his grasp in some sort of choke hold that showed he had more power in his skinny arms than Cade had previously predicted. His odd mixture of powers were questionable but now was hardly the time to question such small things. The two regular thugs were taken care of for the time being which easily made the dealer the one to stress about. Cade wasn’t nearly close enough to rush at the man without him noticing so he held most of the power at the moment.
“Hey, listen! I wanna know where yer gettin’ the counterfeits. Gimme a name and girly here doesn’t get hurt” the dealer wagered as he moved her body out of his sight with ease. His grip didn’t loosen much from her attempts at freeing herself and he only rewarded the woman’s efforts by chilling his touch even more.
His lips were urging to cringe from the man’s offer, but Cade was currently doing business so he ceased any suspicious facial movements so that he didn’t give away anything just yet. “You got your grubby fingerprints all over her neck, even if you wanted to do anything you wouldn’t get away with it. I got the money from a loan shark at the port, never got his name, you want to get into the business you’d have to talk with him not me.”
“Yah still owe me for the weed”
“I don’t think it’d be wise to threaten someone’s life over such little profit”
“I run a business here, it isn’t wise to let someone scam me like this”
Cade never walked around with real money in his pocket when going to the shady part of the port especially when he’s directly communicating with untrustworthy people. The man would quickly pick up if he gave him more fake bills since he’d be looking for it better than he was previously. He’d have to inspect the bills himself before handing them off so that he’d know the serial numbers wouldn’t match up. He pulled out a small stack of cash and quickly whisked through them. Though once he picked out his selection of bills and held them out to the man, a fireball scorched straight through them.
“Like I’d fall for that trick again, how about I make yer face a bit more noticeable so that if any of my associates run into yah they know what to look for” he then bargained as he tossed another ball of flame at Cade’s face. Given the amount of time he was given to react he was quick to dodge the fire before it made contact. He threw one of his tiny blades at the dealer, but it failed to connect due to the fact he made the throw in mid-jump. As he landed once more, he cloned another knife into his empty hand and ducked into an alley way to avoid more fire. He may seem fairly careless about Serenity at this point, but given the circumstances he didn’t really want her to be pulled in.

Serenity didn't care too much for the conversation going on between Cade and the random man with fire and ice abilities. Gritting her teeth against the pain and the oxygen she was slowly having more and more trouble losing, Serenity prepared herself to do the next thing she was planning. As Cade (from her point of view) seemed to have had run off, Serenity took it upon herself to get out of this man's grip. With a surprising amount of strength and flexibility, while using the man's grip on her against him - Serenity swung her body in a manner that allowed her to hook her legs around the man's shoulders and throat.
In doing so the woman put force into this to make it so that the man in question would have to fall forward. Ultimately she had managed to get him in a head lock, because soon enough his grip on her throat loosened and the man feel forward - his head connected with the ground along with the entirety of Serenity's right side of her body. As soon as she felt the man stop moving, Serenity loosed up her grip and started to move away from him then. The whole thing had caused the woman to rip her jeans quite dramatically up her right thigh and the bare skin showed quite easily beneath. "Damnit." Serenity muttered to herself before grabbing her cane and getting up off the ground.

Cade felt a bit nauseous after cloning yet another dagger, that added up to about three small knives worth of his bodily fluids and it was quick to take a toll on his body. His mouth felt like someone had tried to find out what would happen if a person sucked on a hair dryer for an hour while his tongue was like a crisp fall-time leaf that strayed too far from its tree. He took the opportunity he was given to catch a few gasps of breaths, but as he did he heard a slew of noises back on the streets. Most of it didn’t sound pleasant and he was quickly regretting the idea of leaving his co-worker alone with that drug dealer. Now that was a thought he didn’t think he’d have to consider.
Cade gripped the knife by it blade preparing to throw it at the opposing man to hopefully stop whatever he was doing to Serenity, but as he leapt out of the alley he realized that the blind woman had taken him out already. He supposed that did make sense, she was probably more trained in combat than the man probably ever was. That also meant that he didn’t have to save her, so that was an added bonus.
He swiftly fixed his stance to one that was less prepared for an all-out street fight and lowered his weapons. Not that it mattered though, she couldn’t quite see what he was doing anyway. With the conflict over now, he wondered what exactly would spring from it. Hopefully Serenity wouldn’t relay any of the information given out to the Headmistress because there were about three factors involved that could get him fired within seconds of hearing it. “Well, I don’t know why Albion even bothers with a police force. They should just give you a badge and get you to clean up the streets” he jested as he began to approach the woman once more.
The math teacher eyed the rip in the other teacher’s jeans for a moment. “Considering that you just singlehandedly went toe to toe with two street thugs, I’d say that torn pants aren’t nearly the worst outcome you could have.”
“On an unrelated note, would you like to know what colour of underwear you’re wearing right now?”

While she was brushing herself off, Serenity heard Cade's voice and the woman looked up in his direction with an irritated face. At least the irritation was obvious enough in the woman's lips and forehead, since she was still wearing the shades she had bought. His comedic tone grated on her nerves and Serenity was finding herself less and less inclined toward his jests. "The campus police is enough for me," she said to the man in a less than friendly tone. "Of course you would run off and leave me to whatever mess you had gotten yourself in in the first place." In her own head, it was true that Cade had done just that. She was after all unaware of any fighting abilities that he had and Serenity wasn't very prone to putting to much faith and hope in people.
"It's the one time I actually wear something to look nice and the fight comes to me. I don't like you, math teacher. You may find me amusing, but your amusement with all of this is getting on my last nerves." Serenity was just about to move her hand down to the tear in her pants to see if she could adjust it in any manner, when Cade mentioned her underwear and surprising amount of color spread across the woman's face. He had caught her off guard and Serenity was not favorable toward people that did that, tightening her grip on her cane Serenity closed some distance between her and Cade and lifted her cane in the air in the process. "Seriously, where do you get off making fun of other people? Are you just some sick bastard or just thick in the head?" with those words Serenity swung her cane at Cade, with all intentions of smacking him sharply in the head.

As soon as Serenity relieved her livid face, Cade figured that perhaps he poked the wrong bear at the wrong time. His face went half neutral, though he kept a quirky brow as she verbally gave him a pounding and as well added a literal pounding with a swing of her cane directly to his head. The comment about her underpants probably deserved such a bonk to the skull because even he thought it was going a bit too far as he said it. She was mad, more so than he had ever seen her before.
He’d question how she knew he ran off anywhere, but given his current position he probably shouldn’t touch that one. “I never recalled asking for your help to begin with and given that the guy could’ve used you as a human shield I needed to find a better angle. If I were to stand my ground your back would be littered with knives. Besides, you ran at him with no plan and got yourself put into the position of damsel, that my friend is your own damn fault” he spoke easily and still with a much less serious tone than the other teacher’s.
Although, his slightly assumed demeanor was quickly defused by the woman’s cane connecting with his cranium. It was a hit he could endure, but it still caused him to flinch and might leave a bump days after their meeting. His mouth turned to a slight frown as he twirled his jaw a couple of times while he thought up a response. “Again, I preference this, you didn’t have to get involved. You could’ve ignored the whole situation and went along on your ‘fancy pants’ afternoon. Don’t try to blame this shit on me because I know you hate whiners, and I bet you hate hypocrites too” his voice sounded as though he was trying to contain his inner rage after listening to what the woman had to say.
Cade would’ve had a fairly hearty laugh at seeing Serenity’s face go so red under any other circumstance than the one they were currently in. Not this time though. “If you waste your time looking at things in such a bleak light then that’s all that life’s going to throw at you. What I say is never to put someone in a bad mood or portray them in a negative way. Maybe I am stupid to believe that everyone has a sense of humour, but at least I can admit to it” his mellow tone began to ramp up as he continued to speak.

"Whether or not you asked for my help, you needed it anyway. I wouldn't fault you for getting your goal done whether or not I came out with injuries, what do you take me for anyway?" Serenity said to Cade then, even more irritated with how the man was defending himself making it seem like she was the one at fault. She was satisfied to say the least that her cane connected with his skull and in doing so backed up a bit from him.
"And again, what kind of person would I be to leave you by yourself? I'm pretty sure our boss wouldn't appreciate you showing up dead in the streets somewhere. I very much like having peace and quiet and you're doing a horrible job of keeping peace much less making things quiet." Serenity resisted the urge to grind her teeth then, going back to attempting to figure out how make the tear in her jeans noticeable. It seemed strange that a blind woman would care so much about appearance, but it was the fact that Serenity could feel the difference between her skin being exposed to the air and the rest of her legs being covered. The difference was enough to motivate the woman to want to find an easy fix.
"I'm not looking at anything in any particular way, all I can do is listen. I'm not going to apologize to you or anyone else for being able to only understand things one way. You live your way your way and I'll live mine my own way, just leave me out of yours." With those words Serenity turned away from the man in frustration, only to have her whole body connected with a street lamp which caused the woman to stumble back into Cade.

Cade let out a light scoff as Serenity signified that he needed her help in the conflict. Sure, she made it a lot easier, but the way she intervened could’ve put him in real deep trouble if they actually got his name, which they may had still have if they didn’t get a concussion or some sort of memory loss from the teacher bashing their brains. “Two goons with knives? If I was able to handle guys their size by the age of twelve, I’d have no problem with these guys. And if you wouldn’t fault me for getting my goal done then why are you doing it now?” he continued to question as he splayed his hands out in an overly expressive manner.
Her next statement made him curious of just how old she thought he was because given how she spoke it seemed like she was talking to a teenager. “If you were looking for peace and quiet then I’d have to question why you’d become a teacher for a high school full of teenagers that have been rejected from the world due to fear and hatred. Besides, you wanted things to be quiet you could’ve left with the thugs and don’t try to cover up with the whole ‘our boss’ excuse, you’ve told me before that you don’t care what she thinks anyway. I think you’re just trying to hurt my feelings” his tone was now turning into the opposite of what it was before, now ramping down from a serious manner to less so.
“If you want to talk about seeing life through a mono-scope, let’s try you on for size. Living so cynically and shutting yourself out to everyone that tries to get close. Am I getting close? Having a viewpoint is fine, but it isn’t always healthy to assume your way of living is the definitive way” he spoke somewhat gently, but there was still a tangy flavour of spunk generating from him. He would have pursued the woman further if she hadn’t set her trajectory straight into a pole. He’d should have warned her, but he was fresh off a smack of her cane to his head and her punch to his nose was still fresh in his memory. Not revenge, more so happy coincidence.
As Serenity stumble back toward his position he caught her by the waist and smirked a little bit. “Point my flaws out all you want ma’am, I’m already aware of them” he spoke more soothingly and somewhat close to her ear.

She hadn't cared too much to respond to much else that the man had to say, but as she had fallen back into him and he had caught her, his hands on her hips sent an alarming shock up her spine that made the woman immediately push herself away from him - mindful this time of the pole. "Well, if that's the case then this whole discussion is settled and I don't have any more business here." Serenity said to Cade in a dismissive manner, growing just a slight bit uncomfortable now in his presence. It was frustrating mostly, how much the man seemed to be able to creep around her walls. It was almost like he was intentionally doing it just to mess with her.
Gritting her teeth, Serenity realized there wasn't too much that she could do about her jeans, it was that much that she had already decided. Instead, Serenity briefly adjusted her hair (which for the most part was being held out of her face by by a head band). "I'll be leaving then, enjoy the rest of your evening." With that, Serenity started to walk away from Cade - intent on going back to her home.

Just as quickly as the woman had fallen into his arms, Serenity leapt out since she was still in quite a fit. He rolled his eyes as she attempted to walk away again, this time though she seemed to be a bit more cautious for the pole in her way. He just quietly wandered his way up beside her despite the fact she had announced her leave. “Oh, not quite yet you’re not. I can’t let you leave in such a foul mood. Just think about what you did, you just made the streets that much safer for your students. Besides, my place is in the same direction” he spoke with a sense of wonder in his voice.
As much as he would like to spend some quality time with his new purchase, he didn’t quite want the teacher to leave with such a negative taste of him in her mouth. She was his only friend out of all the teachers around the school after all. “Silly arguments they are. Why did we waste such time with trivial things, I apologize for the way I behaved. New Cade shouldn’t be so rude, that was the old Cade” he continued to speak in an easy tone. His conversation style was becoming a bit more loose right about now, perhaps that hit to his noggin jogged something astray or maybe it was the fact he hadn’t had a smoke in a little while. Could easily be a combination of both.
“on an unrelated topic, pink” he spoke with a devilish grin. He’d already provoked the bear, how worse could it possibly get? His charm had to work at some point.
