Name: Cathal Cenric Gotthold
Gender: Male
Age: Twenty
Power(optional): Cathal has the ability to manipulate the gravity within a 4 meter radius around him. Though when he does so the entire area around him shifts in the way he pleases, which also means that he is affected by it. Cathal’s body is able to endure changes in both the gravity and pressure in an environment better than the average human can, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he can survive more than 10gs for an extended amount of time. Whatever the normal human body is able to take in terms of pressure, Cathal is able to outmatch that only slightly though. For example, 10gs to a normal person would feel more like 9gs to him.
Desired Job(optional): Jobless
Personality: Cathal is as friendly and accepting of everybody and everything as a person can be. He enjoys the company of others and loves to help his friends whenever they are in need of it. Or so he wants you to believe. On the outside Cathal likes to make people believe he is a nice person, but on the inside is another thing entirely. The reason he acts so nice toward others is that he can’t have any reliable liabilities if he wasn’t. He is manipulative to say the least and prefers personal gain over that of others.
Cathal is bitter and does not believe in the goodness of mankind, well he more so abuses it. He finds great joy in putting others down and making others miserable, it is one of the few things that still puts a smile on his face. In terms of hobbies, he’s too busy to waste time on anything that doesn’t give him any direct gain and he’s far too poor to spend his money on anything that isn’t of any use to him. Though, he has been known to gamble every so often. Regardless of how much he can boast about his physical condition, Cathal is a coward in many respects. Within a fight, he will usually surrender or run away if his opponent is larger or of equal size as he is. If Cathal has some sort of advantage in battle though, he will abuse that opportunity as much as possible regardless of the other person. He can be very finicky and paranoid when is afraid.
Cathal does have some anger issues though. When things go wrong or not the way he initially plans them to he can become incredibly livid. He does try to restrain himself a lot of the time, but when he’s angered he can potentially become completely unstable. With powers like his that is not a good thing. Being fooled by another person is also a pressure point for him, but he can usually point out a liar based on how much he knows.
Appearance: Cathal stands at about 5’11” making him easily towered by many, but he towers over just as many. He is not quite physically fit, but he does have a good amount of muscles supporting him since when he works out he usually increases the gravity around him. Despite being fairly strong he has never been trained in any form of combat. He’s quite thin since he doesn’t always have a reliable food source. His usual attire is that of tattered flannel and jeans, mostly clothing he can get for cheap. He has a very small selection of clothing so he can be seen often in the same outfit.
Cathal’s face is well kept on some days, but not every day. His complexion is often dirty though. He has a very square and broad jawline, his cheekbones match as they as well protrude on his face. His eyes are a deep almost black looking brown and sunken compared to his also protruding brow line. His hair is usually kept relatively short, though uneven as if he cuts his own hair. Facial hair-wise, he has an outline of a stubble moustache that connects to his chin. The girth underneath his chin is where the most of his hair lies. Both his facial and head hair are a stark and glossy black.
Weaknesses: Cathal’s ability works both ways on him and his enemies, so he can’t crush somebody under the changed gravity without crushing himself in the process. Cathal’s sense of greed and selfishness can get the better of him. Despite how tough he usually makes himself out to be, he is actually quite the coward and will not take on an opponent who is larger than himself, unless of course he has the upper hand in a situation. Given that he doesn’t have the best academic background, Cathal is not very smart when it comes to most subjects.
Strengths: Cathal doesn’t necessarily have a silver tongue, but he is a very convincing liar. He knows how to play with other people’s emotions and use them for his own benefits. Along with that, Cathal isn’t above groveling. His gift provide him with many benefits related to pressure and he can change the pressure around him without much issue.
History: Cathal’s parents were not the traditional kind, his father was a gifted drunkard and his mother was basically the opposite. One night at a local tavern though, their paths crossed and one thing led to another. The events of that night ended with Cathal’s mother returning home like nothing had happened and his father continued his life unaffected. Though about a month later, she was surprised to learn of her pregnancy. Cathal was born into the rich family of his mother. For the next fifteen years of his life he would be under intense care of his mother, who may have nourished him too much. He became very snobbish and selfish, since his mother was much too gracious and did almost anything for him. Though something that changed Cathal’s life came to him when he was nearly sixteen and that was the death of his mother, which came to the surprise of everyone. Given that Cathal’s mother had a very scarce amount of relatives, he was passed on to his biological father.
His father was a no nonsense sort of person, being a working class citizen who had just enough money to sustain life for himself exclusively. Given his son’s attitude and the spoiled way he had been living for most of his life his father was very unsympathetic toward him. He’d often had to threaten him in order to make him shut up. Cathal’s own paranoia caused him to become more afraid of his father than he really should have been, but his dad wasn’t giving him an easy time either. There were very few occasions when his dad actually hit him, but they stuck to him forever. His bitterness grew more and more as he stayed within the same household as the man. After learning of his dad’s natural ability to bend gravity at his will, Cathal suspected he might be able to do the same. His attempts at rebellion were short lived however since his father overpowered him easily.
As soon as he was older than eighteen, his father forced him out of his house. Given that his marks were garbage and he had little work experience he was forced to the streets. Through the theater classes he took in high school he knew fairly well how to fake emotions and fake them well, learning of easy ways to leech off people and also use his powers to his own advantage. After a year or two, he was told of a refuge for the gifted. He instantly went to seek it out and stowed away on the next boat over.
