Avery had gotten out of classes rather late on that particular day, having spent time after each class to make sure that all was in order and she was doing well. The end result was a three hour long solo-study session in preperation for an upcoming test that she had entirely spaced. Following this, she had decided to hit the gym for a bit. She'd spent the better part of the hour running in circles around the gym area, and doing wind sprints. Finally, she had made her way into the Weight room, which in retrospect may not have been the best move. Within moments of entering the room she was assaulted with an array of catcalls, whistles, and things of the sort. She rolled her eyes and reached down to her black yoga pants, pulling the iPod out of her pocket and changing the volume setting to as loud as it would go.
As Avery popped her headphones in, she sighed heavily, tugging down on the hem of her grey under armor shirt. Her eyes scanned the room for a good place to start, but everywhere she looked there was another guy tossing cheesy grins her way. Her noise wrinkled in annoyance and she made her way to a weathered, black weight bench. She placed twenty-five pound weights on either side of the thirty pound bar, and made her way to sit down. She reached over to a small chalk bin and dusted the thin, white powder over her hands and dropped down to her back, gripping the bar in each hand. She lifted it off of the rack and began to do her bench-reps. As Avery reached her tenth rep, she racked the weight set, but was kept from moving her hands from it by a set of hands, pressing hers down to the metal.
Avery looked past the bar and arms and groaned inwardly, recognizing the Emerald boy from a few weeks before. The boy grinned toothily at Avery and chuckled.
"Hey there again. Two questions. One, need a spotter? And two, you ready to answer me from a few weeks ago? I really hope you are."
Avery smirked in a very unamused way and said in as ladylike of a way possible.
"If you don't let go of me, I swear I'll whoop your ass, just like I wanted to in the student lounge."
The boys grin grew and he tightened his grip on her hands, his buddies at a different machine snickering at the event unfolding in front of them. One of them even went so far to start filming it on his camera-phone. Avery, on the other hand, felt no sort of joy at the current situation. Her right leg kicked up over the bench and crossed over her left as she looked up at him with a look that said 'I can wait.' The look however was soon replaced by one that showed pain as the boy began to lean heavily on the bar, her fingers grinding against the metal in a very painful way. The boy continued to grin his stupid grin and said.
"I'm waiting for an answer, bitch."

After what felt like a long day of classes, Cade felt it was best to unwind with a short workout session. It wasn’t too often that he worked out, maybe once a week. He thought a gym membership would have been a waste of his money considering how little he did exercise with machines or weights. He much preferred a nice Kayak around the island, but the weather was becoming far too cold for him to do that anymore.
He wore a simple sort of clothing, track pants and a plain grey t-shirt, something that would allow easy movement. Hardly as flashy as what he would usually wear, but he wasn’t necessarily dressed to impress anyone.
He chose the treadmill of all the workout machines since he felt he hadn’t done enough walking as of late. His thoughts pondered off as he jogged at a relaxing pace. With so much on his mind, he preferred some time to think over things. Cade was later disrupted by the sounds of catcalls. His eyes detracted to the subject at hand. He remembered when he was about that age, he was a bit more subtle about approaching women back then, but a lot of his friends were not so much. Over the years, his memories of his old friends became lesser and lesser since he despised those types of people, but he supposed that everyone had to start somewhere.
Cade’s attention didn’t fall back onto the girl until he heard the Emerald boy’s raised voice. He cringed at the scene, on normal occasions he’d let it slide and let the two people solve their own differences, but he was a teacher and had to prevent confrontation as much as possible. He turned the treadmill off and began to walk over to the bench press with an authoritative stride.
“I’d like to hear your answer first” Cade replied in a no nonsense tone. “Let go of the girl or you’ll be sent home faster than you can walk to the headmistress’s office. There’s no excuse for such disrespectful behaviour” he continued with a menacing glare that a friend of his from teacher’s college had taught him. His face was straight, but he felt joyous on the inside for finally getting the whole serious teacher thing down.

The boy who had been harrassing her looked up quickly, jaw dropping at the sight of the teacher before him. He struggled for words for a few moments, grip loosening just enough on the bar for Avery to snatch her hands back, fingers a bright red color , obviously going to bruise at some point soon. She rubbed her fingers and knuckles furiously, trying to get a bit of feeling back into them. Avery sat up quickly and stood next to Cade, spinning around to face where she just was, eyes narrowing at the boy who had been crushing her fingers against the weight bar.
The boy grumbled quietly and released the bar, eyes shifting between Avery and Cade over and over again. The weight room had gone positively silent, the moments following the teacher speaking up grew longer and more tense. Soon the boy and his crew of friends gathered and rushed towards the exit of the weight room, all of them muttering angrily to themselves. Quite without warning Avery turned and chucked a bobby pin at the back of the antagonistic boy. The pin struck him in the lower back, the bobby pin, which had Ben glowing with a white light, sent him careening into the closed door with the force of a powerful shove, causing his head to smack painfully against the door. The door was forced open with a loud groan and a string of curses flowing from the boy.
When all was said and done, the people in the gym had simply began to exercise once more, Avery turned to face him and smiled a bit awkwardly.
"Thank you...Mr. Lemaire was it?"

Cade was expecting some sort of resistance from the boy, but luckily there was none. That made his job easier. The sudden silence in the room, Cade felt very proud of himself. Finally he was out of being known as the bumbling new guy that students tried to play mind games with, or so he hoped because a lot of the students were cleverer than he had initially expected. He hid his actual feelings from his face though, he still wanted to make sure that the other students knew that he was in serious teacher mode. The last time he felt this much control was many years ago, he kind of missed it.
The bully seemed to have had tripped during his escape, but he couldn’t be sure as he didn’t quite know the powers of the young lady. Given the way he was rushed though, it was entirely possible. He looked down to the smaller woman as she addressed him, a bit surprised she knew his name but not completely. “Yes” he answered quite simply. “Though most people don’t tend to attack unless provoked. If I’m going to write an incident report, I’m going to need to know why he did that to you and I’m going to need a name, both yours and his if you know it” he continued in his serious tone.
Cade felt there was more than just one side of this story, there aren’t always innocents in confrontations like that and he knew that. However, given just about any story he usually stuck up for the more antagonized side. He always believed that there was more to a person than just dark intentions given that he’d grown up in a group that tended to be antagonized more often than not.

Avery nodded quietly, arms crossing over her chest as she looked past the teacher, squinting at the door as it finally clanged shut behind the boys, removing any sight she had of him. Her chocolate brown eyes moved back to make eye contact with the teacher, her right eyebrow slowly lofting. She nodded a second time and glanced around, so as to make sure that the boy had not shown up again.
"Alright then...My name is Avery Sinisterra, Diamond dorm. I don't know what his name is, but I know that he's from Emerald. A few weeks ago, he confronted me in the Student lounge, asking for the name of a student he had apparently seen me with. He obviously wanted to know for reasons that were less than satisfactory, and when I didn't give him the information, he grabbed me. I got him off of me, and he proceeded to leave me be until today. He was asking me the sane question, again I wasn't giving him answers, and he didn't like that, plus he had the advantageous position, so he took his chance. Then you stepped in... now here we are."
Avery nodded again, hands now taking place on her hips, the white chalk still leaving a thin veneer of powder on he hands, and now her clothes. Her eyebrow lofted even higher as she awaited his response to her. She clearly wanted to return to her exercises, but was patient enough to speak to the teacher.

Provided with the information that Avery gave, Cade had a hard time thinking of leverage for the boy. Though, it was only one side to the story. The teacher already had enough on his own plate to deal with, so anything in the current conversation had little concern from his perspective. Being an authoritative figure, however, he couldn’t express that in any way shape or form if he valued his job.
Cade found the young woman’s name to be more familiar to him than it should be considering this was the first time they had met. He was quick to link where he had originally spotted her name though. “Oh, so you’re Avery. I was appointed to be your guidance councillor” he spoke, the sudden realization being apparent in his tone. Cade had an ordinary mixed feeling toward the revelation.
“So it’s happened more than once…” Cade openly questioned, though not expecting an answer as his gaze locked with the door. He was sort of having regrets about letting the boy leave without getting a name, but he was given the dorm, so there was somewhere to start. “Well, if it happens again make sure to report it.” Again the school’s moral code interfered with his own personal opinions on the matter, he’d be much more obliged to say she should deal with the situation herself, but promoting students to take matters into their own hands wouldn’t put him in a very good light.

"Oh? You're my guidance councilor? It's a pleasure to meet you, in that case. Sorry that this was the way that it had to happen this way, however. And yess, it has happened more than once, and I'm sorry that this is the first time I've brought it up, I actually didn't know that I had a guidance councilor in place at this time."
Avery quietly cracked her knuckles, head slowly tilting to the left as she was speaking to the man.
"Is there any way I could meet up with you at some point to talk about any classes I should be taking, in your opinion? I really want to see if there are any mistakes that have been made with my schedule, and fix it up."
Even though the weight room had quieted down when they first began speaking, and the whole event took place, it was now beginning to get more loud. A few of the boys in the room resuming their shameless catcalls and distant-flirting with the girl. While she had been trying to ignore it up to this point, she had obviously lost the uncaring façade, a visible flush coming over her cheeks at the whole thing, though it would not be clear whether the reason was because she was embarrassed, or frustrated by the fact that everybody was treating her differently in a gym-setting. She was the only girl within the weight room at this moment, all of the other girls seeming to be in the major gym area doing cardio, or yoga.
"Hmm...Damn coyotes..."
Avery had muttered this quite quietly beneath her breath, but chances were that Cade would hear her words if he was playing close enough attention.

Cade almost instantly regretted the decision to mention he was Avery’s guidance counselor. He had nothing against the girl personally, he just didn’t like being put into the position of higher authority when it came to other people’s lives. He didn’t fear the notion of giving people bad advice, but he just felt he shouldn’t be telling students what’s better for them if their circumstances were completely different from his. If a student who studied English approached him and asked what courses would be best for them, he wouldn’t have an answer. If he was assigned to a student who lived on their own and studied mathematics then he could steer them in the right direction.
“It could’ve been worst circumstances, trust me. I’m available every Tuesday and Thursday after school if you need me, but right now I’m ill prepared to talk about classes. That is unless you’re interested in majoring in math”
With the confrontation being over with, of course the horndogs in the room went back to howling at their target. Cade rolled his eyes and wondered for a moment if he lacked such restraints when he was younger. He liked to believe he did, but at least he knew he never tried to attract women by catcalling from across the room. He debated on whether or not he should speak up to quiet them down again since besides the fact they were obviously getting to the young girl, they were awfully annoying to Cade’s ear too. He made it clearly known that there was a teacher in their presence, so he wondered how any of them still had the nerve.
“Yeah, keep that up. I’m sure one of you will eventually woo her with your ‘charm’ because repetition and irritation is the true key to any woman’s heart” He sarcastically remarked turning his head slightly to the side, though not looking at any of the male students directly due to many obvious reasons.

Avery couldn't help but snicker at the mans remark to the boys, especially since, as soon as he said these words, the catcalls died down rather quickly and left only the sound of the lifting of weights. In truth, Avery understood that the man was ill prepared to talk about classes and the like, it wasn't as though she had expected him to instantaneously start to conduct an interview with her, right in the midst of the weight room.
"It's to be expected that you wouldn't be ready to speak about it right now, I was merely asking if there were good times for me to come in. I'll remember Tuesdays and Thursdays. And thanks a lot for helping me out with the craziness that was happening. But, I think I'm going to head on back to my dorm, thank you for your time, Mr. Lemaire, I do hope that you have a nice day."
On that note, Avery simply left, not waiting for any sort of special goodbye or anything. On her way out, she paused, and bent over to pick up her bobbie pin which she had tossed at the retreating boy just a few minutes before, putting it back into her hair before she pushed open the door, sending it creaking back and forth. Just as the door was closing a boy had stood up and rushed out of the door after her, within a few moments there was a loud thud against the door. After a couple of seconds the door swung back open, the boy who had chased after her was rubbing the back of his head, a look of pain on his face as he moved back to his machine.

Cade smirked as the meat headed students seized their hollering, it was about time he was treated as a proper authoritative figure again. It was funny to think that at two very different times in his life that he was such a large figure, though he was gargantuan when he was young compared to where he was now. The simple association of the word Lesang was all he needed to quiet down a room back then, but such power was not something he enjoyed to revel in anymore.
“You too” the teacher tried to call back after being mesmerized in memories. The sound of another boy being pounded against the door signaling her leave. Cade turned back to eye the room, most of the males’ eyes changing in direction when his came dangerously close to locking on them. He decided on the machine he had been working on earlier. “Strong, un-submissive, there might be hope for this generation after all” Mr. Lemaire whispered to himself as he approached the treadmill once more.
