Leto: You get here, and the first thing you do is go to the roof? How retarded are you? Gaia: Be quiet, he's the one in control let him do whatever he wants. Leto: He should atleast go somewhere exciting! Like the gym! Poseidon: ... He wants somewhere peaceful. Leto: Peaceful? Hah! Athena: Peace is good for concentration! Maybe he's going to going to let someone out? Erebus: If he's letting anyone out it's going to be me. Leto: Shut-up stupid, it's my turn!
... I'm not letting anyone out. Eris sighed outloud to himself as he listened the all of the souls bicker. It had only been two days and they were already getting anxious. He couldn't help but think that he had spoiled them. When Eris had first gotten accquainted with them they had barely said a word... even Leto. Yawning loudly, he stretched his arms out wide and stared at the view infront of him. It was in the morning and the sun was rising. If all the souls would be quiet, it would have been the perfect moment. A few minutes passed and Eris dug into his messenger bag seeming to have changed his mind he pulled out a doll dressed in white. You can come out Athena, the moment he said that the doll in his hand seemed to come alive. Athena smiled plesantly at him and he set her one the edge of the roof so that she could wonder around.
Leto: NOT FAIR! YOU SAID I COULD COME OUT NEXT. I never said such a thing. Gaia: Don't be childish Leto. Leto: I haven't come out in months! It's not fair! If you'd listen to me I'd let you out. Leto: UGH.
Eris took a seat among a few chairs that seemed to be convienently placed on the roof. "Are they arguing?" Athena asked him while she practiced with the light coming from the sunrise. "As always," Eris replied with a slow and easy shrug.

It was early. It was really early, and yet, Brianna had been up and out of bed for at least an hour. She'd rolled out of bed, thrown on a tee shirt and a pair of shorts, gathered up her hair in a pony tail, and had finished eating her bowl of Cheerios before six. Normally she wasn't a morning person, but she'd discovered something about the concept that she'd been missing. Morning was always quiet, because no one else wanted to get up either. There were no distractions, no people getting in her way, and she could get so much more done! Bri was convinced that by waking up three hours earlier she could accomplish more than she ever had before. This course of action was definitely necessary to make up for this stupid school with it's idiot classes. She still could not get over the fact that they had art and music, but had no math classes availiable what so ever. Seriously, just because these people were supposed to be "gifted" doesn't mean their not dumb asses that have no clue how to solve linear equations or what the pythagorean theorem even is.
Anyway, back to the schedule. She'd written up a very detailed schedule for herself last night, though it was only the rough draft. She'd type it out on her computer later, there'd just been no time because she had to start going to sleep earlier to make sure she got eight hours of sleep as she always did. It was only a minor adjustment, and while she had some trouble falling asleep last night, she'd get the routine down by the end of the week. Then she could move on to bigger and better things. Right now, she was exercising because she'd decided to start doing that in the morning as well. Summer was coming, and she had to think about the weather changes and how they would affect her performance. Running in the morning could only be a smart choice, she could do more with out getting nearly as sweaty.
Today was the second day in her alteration of exercise routines, the day where she mostly just ran up and down stairs. The stairs to the roof were obviously the longest, so she'd chosen to use them. Some stupid kid, maybe a janitor, had left the door to the roof propped open. Because her MP3 player was broken after tripping over that one guy in the forest, she couldn't listen to it any more which was pretty annoying because she had to listen to her own breathing. Getting to the top of the stairs on her first round, she heard some people bickering. A group of people. What teenagers got up this early and started fighting with each other? Brianna was surprised their brains were even able to function well enough to argue this early. It was just weird. Ever since she started going here though, the luck had always seemed to be on the other side of things, well out of her reach. Of course there would be people up to disrupt her routine this early. Everything always happened to her. "Get over it and go back to bed, dammit!" she said loudly enough for who ever it was to hear her before running back down the stairs. She hadn't bothered to look and see who this group of kids might be, and she didn't really care, as long as they left her alone. She started running up the stairs again.

As Bri yelled at all the souls, Eris blinked for a second seeming a little surprised.
Don't tell she hears you guys. Gaia: It's a necromancer. Leto: A what? Gaia: ... A necromancer, I think. Poseidon: They can talk to the dead. Leto: We're not dead! Erebus: Yeah, we are. Leto: No, we're just stuck in purgatory. Just be quiet.
Eris looked at Athena curiously as she practiced with the light, seeming to mind her own business. "Can you go see who's just went by?" he asked her in his usual normal calm tone. Athena turned to him and smiled angelically, "Sure thing!" Jumping down from the ledge gracefully she practically flew over to the door. It only took a moment for Athena to spot Brianna as she started to run up the stairs again. "OH OH! IT'S A GIRL! IT'S A GIRL!" Athena said excitedly jumping up and down and running over to Eris.
Eris looked down at her with a small frown of disapproval. Any time Eris met a girl, Athena always took the chance to try and hook them up because she believe that love made the world go around. "You're going back, Athena." Before she had a chance to protest, Eris picked the doll up and her soul went back into the ring.

Brianna jogged up the stairs, with precise, light steps. She'd really been trying to work on her pace, trying to make it perfectly even. Slowing down drastically by the time she got to the middle of her workout was a big problem for her, or so she thought. Never stopping to think she might have been trying to do too much, she added on laps and minutes to her workouts as if they were nothing. Right now though, she couldn't exercise at all with these loud people around. What were they doing up on the roof? Whichever one of them had the brilliant idea of arguing on the top of a tall building that didn't have a very high safety railing was a real genious. She shrugged it off mentally. If they were that stupid, they deserved to get shoved off the roof, accidentally or not. Theoretically, natural selection would take care of them eventually anyway. That was the beauty of evolution.
Bri hadn't been listening while they were talking about her power, or else she would have figured out that the idiots arguing on the roof were actually spirits. She'd started listening again once she realized that Athena was referring to her, and she stopped. Sighing with frustration, she walked up the rest of the steps. If they were going to talk about her, she was going to know who they were. Stepping out onto the roof, she frowned. "Where's the rest of you?" She glanced at Eris but only for a second, then looked around for the rest of the people who were no where to be seen.

As Bri walked onto the roof, Eris's eyes crawled over her apperance for a second and then landed on her face. "I'm all right here," he replied with a simple look on his face. Of course at a time like this it was typical that all the dolls would be quiet in anticapation of what would happen next. Leto though, had to go ruin it.
Leto: She's so stupid. Gaia: Be quiet, she can hear you! Leto: So what? She can't touch me anyways.
Eris eyebrows perked up a little and he glanced at Bri, tilting his face slightly to the side as if making an inquiry of what she would do next.

The last thing she wanted was a sarcastic comment from some stupid boy. Though his tone may not have suggested it, she took his reply in a negative way, as she did with most words. Where could they be?! The roof was large, but it was too empty to hide anyone. There was only one door, and that had been the one she'd come through. Brianna looked around for a few more seconds, but it didn't take long for her to come to the conclusion that there was no one else on the roof. There was another possibility, but...
That was impossible. All the spirits she'd ever encountered hadn't been much different from people, although there was always something that gave them away immediately as being dead. They couldn't walk through walls, and you couldn't see through them, as far as she knew. But she'd admit she didn't know everything about that stuff, mostly because she didn't care to find out. The 'gift' had just latched on to her like a curse, and she didn't explore it anymore than she had to...
Hearing Leto, Bri whirled around. That couldn't have been the same voice she'd heard come out of the boy's mouth a minute ago, it was a girl. No guy that was anywhere near normal could imitate a girl's voice that well. There was another one too, and yet, the boy didn't speak. She was so confused, she didn't even realize that the spirit had just insulted her. "Who was that?" she snapped. This didn't make any sense what so ever.

Eris watched as Bri seemed to look around desperately for all the people in his head. Something about the way she acted amused him deeply, but he didn't really bother to show it- what did it matter anyway? Taking a seat on one of the lawn chairs, he crossed his legs and rested his chin on his hand; still seeming to watch her expressions. Inside his head, Leto snickered and Gaia just sighed heavily.
Leto: Look up, then down, then all around! Gaia: Don't do that Leto. Leto: I don't care, she should realize where we are if she has a power like that. I mean it's obvious! Gaia: No, it isn't. Erebus: ... why can't he just tell her? Athena: Be nice, Eris! D: ... It doesn't matter to me. Poseidon: We're in his head, necromancer. Leto: TOTALLY RUINED IT.
Eris looked to Bri as Poseidon spoiled the fun for Leto. He had considered letting Leto out, but then he still didn't know if this girl would beat her or just yell at her. If she would beat Leto, then it'd be all the more interesting.
Leto: She couldn't hit me even if you did let me out. ... Are you sure about that?
"Leto's never been a smart girl," he suddenly said to Bri seeming to look a little saddened at that fact. In truth, he just wanted to see what she would do. Most girl he met just seemed to try and be nice to the souls, they acted as if they controlled him and not vice versa.

The voices seemed to emanate from Eris, but she couldn't understand why. This was really weird for her. They were spirits, but even she couldn't see them? The guy could even hear them, he talked them. Apparently she was missing something but he knew what was going on and this was some how completely normal. Wait... they were in his head? Dead spirits in his head? She could hardly keep track of how many different voices she was hearing. Four, maybe five. She'd only heard one male voice, The girls were harder to distinguish, but one of them was really bitchy and annoying.
"You'd be smart to stay in there," she threatened Leto angrily, though she directed her comment to Eris because he was the only visible person on the roof. Brianna wasn't nearly as violent as her words might make her seem, but she was provoked enough, she could be. More concerned with what Poseidon had to say, she contemplated his statement. She wasn't really even sure where there was. The male voice probably hadn't been lying to her, but she wanted more than just his word. The fact that they were in his head, yet they were spirits was not logical at all. The spirits she met were as real to her as people were. She could see them, smell them, feel them... it was obviously some sort of illusion, but why would these illusions change this way?

Leto: GAH, LET ME AT HER. ... No.
Slowly reaching into his bag, he dug out Poseidon's doll and Gaia's doll. The seconds he set them on the ground, they seemed to come to life. Poseidon stretched while Gaia just walked around for a moment. Eris on the other hand went back to his orginal position, seeming to be glad to let a few people out of his head for a moment. Poseidon, seeming to be the more intelligent of the two walked right up to Bri and looked up at her- and for him this was quite a stretch since she was about 3 or 4 feet taller then him. Poseidon as a doll stood only around 11-12 inches. "We're his dolls," Poseidon said with such a straight face that it seemed a little awkward. Gaia though quickly corrected him "Eris doesn't play with dolls, we're his souls," she said stubbornly. Staring at Bri for a moment she quirked her head slightly at the girl, "What's your name?"
Eris just sat quietly in the background though, letting the souls speak like they usually do. It didn't matter much to him, people were usually more fascinated with the souls then they were with him- it was how it was all the time. What would be different this time?
Athena: She's cute! You should talk to her. Erebus: Why would he want too? Athena: ... because she's cute... =( Erebus: ... and? Athena: What other reason is needed?! Erebus: Plenty. Leto: Eris shouldn't talk to idiots. Erebus: It doesn't make a difference since he barely talks at all! ... I'm right here.

About to make some remark about pulling dolls out of his bag, she stopped herself. Brianna stared at them as they started moving. Moving, talking, walking, dolls. Even though she saw dead people practically everywhere she went, somehow, this managed to surprise her. "Souls..." she repeated to herself. Souls, spirits, dead people... they were all the same. It made a little more sense to her now, but it was still unlike anything else she'd ever seen. The guy controlled them, she decided. "Brianna," she mumbled. She didn't know what else to say, but she didn't have to say anything, another one started talking. This was the one that she'd heard earlier, the one that was all excited about her being a girl. Why did it matter? Almost half the population was female.
Oh, so the one spirit was trying to find him a friend or a girlfriend, but it was most likely the latter the way she said cute and was obssessed with gender. She'd never gone out with anyone before because she had decided a long time ago it was basically pointless to date in high school because the relationships never lasted. That, and the fact that she scared guys away most of the time or just wasn't nice to them, but she wasn't that nice to anybody. Well, this was uncomfortable. She had to agree with Erebus though, he'd barely said anything. While she wasn't extremely chatty either, he seemed to just let the dolls or spirits talk for him while he just watched. It's not like you could make friends that way, if he was trying to. "Do they always talk so much?" she asked, turning her gaze back to Eris.

As Bri adressed Eris, all the dolls seem to become silent and attentive. It was rare that someone actually talked directly to him, mainly because they would be so fascinated with what the dolls had to say. Casually looking her direction, he gave her the type of expression that he would usually give everyone- cool boredom. "Most of the time, I barely notice anymore," he said with a small shrug. Watching Poseidon and Gaia for a moment, he looked back up at Bri "I'm sorry if we disturbed your exercising," he said briefly noticing her attire. Inside his head, both Leto and Athena groaned. Distant was what he was- Eris was always distant... but he never meant to be. It was just natural to him, it was the only thing he knew.

"It's fine," Brianna replied. It was unlike her to just let things like that go, but his apology seemed to be enough for her. He hadn't really done anything after all, if it had just been him up here he probably wouldn't have bothered her. It was just his... doll/spirit/soul things. Ghosts were often times annoying, and she wouldn't want to be blamed for that. She didn't have anything else to say to him, but part of her wanted to think of something. She'd never talked to anyone that had a power similar to hers, it was interesting. Most of the time Bri didn't let herself get into this gifted stuff. She pretended it didn't exist and tried to be 'normal', or as normal as she had been before she'd even known she was different. Now though, she was curious. "How many are there?" she asked.

At her question, Eris frowned for a moment and silently started to count with his fingers. A few minutes passed and he still looked a little puzzled. Gaia, realizing that he really didn't remember how many souls were in his head took this moment to talk for him. "Five," Gaia said to Bri while she climbed up onto Eris's knee; seeming to drag Poseidon with her. Then jumping onto the arm rest, she lifted up Eris's hand and tapped his ring loudly. "We're all in his ring," she said simply.
A moment of silence passed and Eris frowned some more. Lifting up his hand, Gaia and Poseidon suddenly went limp and he put them back into his bag. Standing up, he gave Bri a little bow "It was nice meeting you then," he said in his normal calm tone.

Five souls. If she had to have any spirits in her head, she'd go crazy. How could anyone handle that? He must have been at least a little bit out of it if he couldn't even count how many there were, but that easily could have been the result of annoying little voices in his head twenty four hours a day. Or they were talking to him from his ring, somehow. She was disappointed he'd decided to put them away. His power was really impressive.
He was leaving, which would have been a good thing if she still wanted to run, but she didn't. Suddenly, without warning, she recognized him. "Wait, I know you! You're that one guy," He was in her math class, for sure. "from math, ummm..." The really smart kid. He got better grades than she did. Every time the teacher posted the grades, she was ALWAYS second. Never first, second. That made her so mad. What was wrong with her that she could not beat this kid, she'd always wondered. She'd never actually talked to him. Though, she'd never had anything to say but she knew she'd probably end up yelling at him. "Eddie!... Aaron?" Bri never bothered paying attention to the name of Smart Kid, it'd never mattered before. His name was just a number, the only number who's name wasn't below hers on the grade list. Ever. "Eris!" Aha! Eris.

Eris stared at her for a moment when she was trying to figure out his name, a second passed when she finally realized what it was though. "What about it?" he said to her suddenly- a little confused as to why she would bring up math class. Whenever he went there, Eris just did his work and got it over with. It was easy anyways, and why bother paying attention when he knew it all already? Most of the time he barely even came to class. It was sort of pointless for him.
