“You bought the mattress, so feel free to drag that away and sleep on that. Remember that you’re not the only one that put money into buying things for this house!” Claude yelled, gesturing wildly with his hands, his eyes burning with anger and annoyance. “Well, maybe if you and your thick headed and stubborn little brain actually listened for a little bit and showed some compassion, you’d give me some space and realize that I don’t want to just jump into a huge decision and have it blow up in my face!” Claude explained, his voice rising ever so slightly with every word.

"Stubborn little brain?!" Sade asked him tightly "how in the hell would it blow up in your face?! How could anything possibly go wrong?" Sade's voice had risen and she was sure that their neighbors could hear every word of their argument now. Stepping forward a few feet, she closed the space between lowering her voice just a little bit "What's so wrong with marrying me?" she said then waiting for moment her voice lowered a little bit and looking him straight in the eye she said “That’s it, get out,” she dodged his eyes for a moment “Just get out.” A second passed though, and her eyes widened for a moment, “And I do not have a stubborn little brain!” with that she aimed a slap at his face.

“Because we’re always fighting, Sade,” he exclaimed, “We’re complete and total opposites and we don’t know how to handle out problems in any other way but yelling and screaming at each other!” He yelled…and screamed.
Just get out. Yeah, right. After everything, Claude was not about to back down and let her control everything and have her way for the hundredth time. “No,” he told her, his voice hard. “No, if you want don’t want to be around me, then go ahead and leave, because like it or not, I’m staying right here.” And just as soon as those words had left his mouth, he felt the hard sting of her hand against his face. He was really getting tired of her and all her violent shit. She never showed any sort of respect for him and acted as though he was nothing and Sade was the only driving force behind their relationship. Well, he was done with dealing with all of that, things had to change.
And so, blinded by anger and fury, Claude slapped Sade across the face. He was shocked by his own actions, but things didn’t stop there, he grabbed onto her arm, pulling her as close to him as possible and stared into her eyes, his own burning with fury, “Listen up, Sade,” he hissed, “I am so fucking tired of you and your screaming, and your need to control every single aspect about everything, I’m a grown man, I can make my own decisions and your wining isn’t going to change things. I will propose to you when I’m good and ready, and like it or not, that time isn’t now!” Taking a deep breath he added, “And you’re wrong, your brain is very stubborn.”

Sade was ultimately silenced after he had slapped her. It hurt a lot, and she barely processed the rest of his words. Although when she realized that he had stopped talking, Sade yanked her arm away from his grip and walked over to a wall. Resting her forehead against it she let out a long shaky breath, and while hugging herself Sade began to cry. It had been a long time since she had last cried, and not use to it her body began to shake violently.
When she was young, Sade was used to physical abuse from her mother. She was used to the pain you get when someone you loved hated you. Although the memories of that torture had faded after her mother had died, and so the slap to her face brought back thousands of harsh forgotten memories. One of them being never knowing who her father was. Willing herself to stay standing, Sade never turned to Claude as she spoke- but instead faced the wall like a child would when they were in trouble. "I-I-I'm sorry," she started unable to stop the tears crawling down her face "I-I-I just w-want Jasmine to h-h-have something that I never had," hugging herself tighter she took a deep breathe "I just want you to always be there for her..."
In the back of her mind, Sade knew Claude loved her- he always told her and she could tell that he meant it. She was worried though, worried that one of these days he would leave without warning, get sick of her and her personality... just the way her mom said that her dad had gotten sick of her. Her father and mother had never been married, but they had two children together. Nothing had stopped him from leaving, and nothing could stop Claude now if he felt the sudden urge to leave her and Jasmine.
Sade seriously doubted she'd be able to survive if Claude disappeared, so that was why she always nagged him about marriage. She needed the comfort to know that if Claude was annoyed and finally sick of Sade, she would have a warning first... she would have time to prepare before the worst came. And that seemed so much better then waking up and finding the man she loved wasn't there anymore.

Breathing heavily, Claude watched as Sade pulled her arm away from his grasp, and make her way to a wall. He was expecting some sort of rage fueled back lash where she would scream and punch him and tell him he was wrong and stupid for not marrying her. But she didn’t, and a small little part of his brain told him what was coming. The same thing had happened almost 6 or so years ago, Claude was expecting to get yelled at, and instead, she broke down.
“I will always be there!” Claude promised, his anger and frustration still at dangerous levels, “Damn it, Sade, you know me, I’m not going to walk out on my own child!” The fact that she still thought that was slightly insulting. He knew what it was like to grow up without parents, first his mother, and who knew what had happened to his dad. Why would he put his own daughter through something slightly less horrible than what he went through.
“Why can’t you understand that? I feel like…like you’re always expecting the worst out of me, like you’re just waiting for me to screw up so you can you were right all along. I’m not that kind of person!” Claude let out a disgruntled sigh, running his hands through his messy hair.

Sade closed her eyes tightly for a moment, trying to make sense out of all of her thoughts. Everything was just to scrambled, and finally giving up on the argument completely she took a deep shaky breath- wiped away her tears and turned to him. "I'm sorry," she said as she looked at him, seeming slightly different and strangely mellow. "That's not true, I love you... let's just stop arguing," walking up to Claude she seemed drained and her words slightly empty. She wrapped her arms around Claude's waist, and leaned her head against his shoulder. Maybe a moment of silence would help her think correctly, sort her emotions and possibly make sense of all the terrible things frolicking through her mind.

Her change in mood made Claude wonder if her apology was actually genuine, or she was just to tired and wanted to get back to sleep as soon as possible. It seemed honest enough, though, so Claude didn’t push the matter. “A-Alright,” he agreed, a little confused. Usually Sade didn’t stop, she wasn’t the kind to back down. And to think, he’d already planned a whole battle for this fight all for nothing. Claude, in turn to Sade wrapping her arms around him, placed his arms around her neck, and held her close. “I love you too…I always will,” he murmured as an after thought.
