chase
Chase felt a distinct demarcation in the way he interacted with Esha versus how he interacted with other people at Foresta, but it would be a while until he acknowledged that. He was in a haze of honey and warm milk, and only he and Esha could wade through its sticky depths. And, knowing the feeling was so good, Chase knew it would be over within a matter of time. It was up to him to make use of it. "Chase, you-uh, you need someone to be kind to you for once. I suppose you could say I’m –uh doing the needful." Her words sent tingles through his fingers and against his rapidly beating heart. But, it wasn't until she began to explain her compromised circumstances that the feeling quickly dissolved, leaving a threadbare reality in its place. Well, this was... Unexpected? He couldn't quite remember if Esha had told him about being an exchange student before, but Chase just assumed that she'd moved here permanently. She went on to emphasize that they should cut all intimate ties with each other, and the boy couldn't help but feel his heart sink into his gut. Of course, after their altercation, he wasn't about to argue with her and profess whatever lingering emotions were fluttering around his heart, if he could even call them that. Maybe she was right, puppy love might've been a better term for their little experience. Still, it was depressing regardless of the reason. "Uh, yeah, of course," he replied rather plainly, "Maybe that would be better." His tone might've held a hint of disappointment if it weren't for his persistent fear of the beast, and it was easy enough to pull on a monotonous mask once again. Without a word, he gestured for the girl to head inside, his thoughts spinning with new emotions that, at least for now, he had to grapple with.
{ooc: should we end the thread? i can't think of anything else to add for them}

The thought that it was a really bad idea to run into the fields of ankle deep snow in the garb she was in had finally sunk in as she noticed how wet her feet were getting. It was a very fleeting thought though as her mind was focused elsewhere. It was quite tasking for her to essentially dump Chase like that, but that didn’t necessarily mean that she was done with him. She was still his only connection to the rest of the world, or so she assumed considering the lack of information she got about him during his disappearance. She still needed to atone for the damage she had done, but they didn’t need to be a couple in order to do that.
There was a small bit of her that wished that he would rebel against her notion of them being split apart, but she knew it wouldn’t come out. He agreed to the terms, which by all accounts should mean that she was a free agent again and that her search for a suitor was back on track. She wasn’t certain if anyone would be nearly as willing to go along with it as Chase seemingly did a couple of minutes ago… but it was for the better of them both. Wasn’t it? Esha still had room for someone presentable and worthwhile as a life partner and she could find someone for Chase to appease him and keep him calm and collected so that the… creature wasn’t so dominate. It sounded right, but felt wrong in a weird way. This was the path that her gods were trying to put her upon, wasn’t it?
Regardless of that, Esha grew a bit of a slight smile to show her appreciation for Chase’s understand and hopefully it meant that their futures could be forged into a proper crossway rather than inept intertwine. “Thanks for uh- understanding” she replied in a courteous manner as they continued back to the school . “It’ll, uh- be better for us. I’ll uh- try to find you someone to help before I’m gone” she added in a hopeful tone. That would be the biggest task of all, trying to find someone who would care enough to pick up Chase’s pieces.
