Training (Feos)

"I'm pretty sure it's through their whole lifetime," Jax answered, taking the professor's pendant. "But, y'know, I haven't really had repeated masters all that much so I don't know for sure. I've just had to figure out the rules as I go so I'm sure I don't know nearly everything." A brief note of worry shot through him but he kept it hidden. Would that affect their training? Surely it would, but how could they accomplish much with only three wishes each? That was three shots at resisting every time, and Jax knew that wasn't nearly enough to get the skill down. A start, yes, but not enough, and no matter how much he wanted this there were few people he'd trust enough to hand his pendant off to.

Upon hearing that, Jones frowned a bit, worry showing in his own face. Mirroring Jax's thoughts, he also thought that if they only had three wishes for Jax to make to him, and Jones himself only had two remaining since Jax made the pendant for him...it was far too few. Again, Jones wasn't thinking about resistance training, but more clever experiments to be made, to see how Jax could go around the rules of his innate compulsion and free himself.
"I see..." he finally said after thinking a bit. "We'll experiment then. Imagine a scenario that I'll describe. Someone has your pendant, but before they can utter a wish, you fall unconscious. Would their wish happen? And as a second case, what if you fell unconscious after they have made the wish, but before you've fulfilled it? Have you already had some sort of relate experience, to give us a possible answer to that?" He asked. "Also, set down my pendant for a bit, so that there's no accident because of a word slip." Jones instructed with a small smile and a softer tone. It was obvious that Jones was doing his best to think of every possible way to help out Jax, of every case and scenario.

Jax passed back the pendant before he spoke. With so few wishes he didn't want to waste any, and on top of that accidental ones were the worst. Who knew what might accidentally be said that registered as wish, and what it would be granted as? In answer to Jones's question he shrugged, shaking his head. "I don't know, it's never happened before. It could work, maybe." Or it could just stall the wish until I'm conscious, he added silently to himself. His pessimistic side was showing itself again, even if it was just mentally, and he hurriedly pushed it away. That wouldn't help anything. "Even if it did, though, I don't see how I could fall unconscious every time somebody makes a wish. I definitely can't do it magically, at least not on my own."

"There could be pressure points to help you do that, or you could be carrying some sort of injection with you, for good measure. It's just another scenario, a bit extreme, but I'm trying to consider every possible solution." Jones explained, still deep in thought. "What about wishes with a duration? For example, if you make something, does it last for a limited amount of time, or does it last indefinitely?" Jones then asked, having another thought.
"And following that, what about the duration of other kind of wishes? For example, if someone wished to be able to fly, could you grant them a permanent flying power? Furthermore, what about a triggered wish of sorts? For example, a wish like "Whenever I clap my hands, I want you to produce chocolate." Do you think a wish and phrasing like that would work? Have you had a similar experience?" Jones asked.
"I'm trying to first gain info from your past experiences, in order not to waste any precious wishes." he then explained, scratching his left cheek lightly and hoping Jax wouldn't get too tired with all this.

(OOC: Sorry for disappearing for a week. Between prepping for my book release and prepping for my first dog training demo I've barely had time to check Foresta, much less sit down and type up a reply. I did not expect both of those to blow up at the same time.)
"Objects last forever," Jax answered, thinking through the past wishes he'd granted. Normally he avoided thinking about them like the plague, but every experience would help them think of something. "As far as I know anything else is temporary. I think how long it lasts varies, but I don't know what determines it." He paused again, thinking about the concept of a triggered wish. Nobody had ever wished for something like that--generally their wishes involved whatever would benefit themselves: money, fame, power. They didn't normally take Jax into consideration. "I think a trigger would work, but it'd probably be temporary, too."

( It's okay, I hope the book release goes well. )
Jones nodded, rubbing his chin deep in thought. "I see. We should check the triggered wish possibilities, because depending on how it functions, it will drastically change how we proceed with our classes and what we are able to accomplish." the man said after some thought.
Following that, he held up his hands, and after a moment's focus, he conjured a piece of paper and a blue pen, imitating Jax. Upon gripping the objects and feeling them, solid at his hands, he smiled a bit in satisfaction, the thrill he always got when starting to learn a new skill or ability.
"Alright, I'll write here the wish I want you to make towards me. A trigger wish, that is." Jones explained and started writing on the paper, before handing it to Jax. Its content was:
The wish is: I want you to wink with your left eye, every time I snap my fingers from now on.
"This is it. Simple, right?" Jones said with a small smile, and proceeded to take off his pendant and hand it to Jax for the boy to make his first wish towards him.

(Thanks!)
Jax nodded slowly as he listened to the professor's words, then couldn't help a smile when he conjured the objects for himself. Nobody had ever had his ability before, nobody had ever understood things like that. He knew Jones had gotten his power, but the reality of it hadn't quite sunk in until he saw that. A part of him hadn't actually believed it. But there was the proof, in front of him. And he was amazed at seeing it. For the first time in his life somebody knew how it felt to conjure and to have this incredible magic locked just out of reach--and, in a moment, he realized as he hesitantly took the paper with the wish written on it, to have that magic controlled by somebody else. And Jax would know for the first time how it felt to be able to control that magic, even if it wasn't his own. The prison that was his power was something he wouldn't wish on his worst enemy, but at the same time he'd longed for somebody to understand it for so long.
"It hurts less if you don't fight it," he said in warning, his nerves showing themselves in his eyes for just an instant. He read the wish, over and over again, letting it and all the possible effects of it sink in. He didn't take the pendant until he had finished considering what he was about to do, and then he turned it over in his hand for a moment before speaking. "I want you to wink with your left eye, every time I snap my fingers from now on. "
