The phoenix raised an eyebrow at Knell's question regarding his mood, then shook his head. "No, it's fine, Knell." he said softly. He was about to speak again, but then, havoc suddenly ensued.
Feos only heard a buzzing sound and Mason's loud voice, before he saw the guy's staff flying away. "...huh...?" he stood there, astonished for a moment and tilting his head to the side, before his eyes focused the tiny pixie. "Oh..." he said, quickly solving the mystery of the flying staff.
The next moment, he was running after Mason, having even forgotten his bag behind. Why? He didn't know himself, or rather, he didn't stop to think about it, just acted on impulse. He wanted to somehow help out. "Wait up!" he called out as he entered the forest.
Because it was so thick and unruly, and because Mason already had a lead and his air powers to help him out, Feos was left a bit behind. Not only that, but without knowing about it, he took a wrong turn somewhere, stumbled, and kept running towards where he thought Mason was.
Soon, things around him became quieter, and he couldn't hear Mason's shouts or the rustling of trees. "Mason..." he asked, as he halted to a stop and looked around him. The air was thick around him, and there were also thick spider webs laid on the branches of the trees around him.
"....great..." he remarked, and thought about turning back, but not only was he not sure about the way back, but he also didn't know if Mason was ahead of him or not. Thus, he paused there to think for a moment, and see if he could hear any other helpful sound.

Knell simply watched the two run off, the mist under his left eye moving in a way that resembled twitching. He was having a hard time grasping the fact that any of that had happened, there had been no build up whatsoever. It was almost as if that pixie had been placed there by some sort of...greater power. Fueled by pure hatred, Knell gazed up into the sky and shook his fist. "NO POWER IS GREATER THAN MINE!" he shouted. He held that pose for a solid minute before realizing how silly that would look to any passerby.
It was at this point that the god realized he had no idea what to do. Should he follow the two idiots into the forest? Or perhaps he should just go do something else. With a shrug the god phased into the ground, still weighing his options.

The two companions still in the forest for a while side by side, contemplating their actions. Mason was unaware if either of the two men he was previously talking too hard had followed, or even seen, him dash into the forest. "Wait here Lup. Let me see if I can figure out where we are," he said, the dog sitting and giving a single bark in understanding of the command. Mason crouched down and jumped, using his abilities to push him high and lightly in the air. He lands on one of the bottom branches gracefully with his staff still in hand. The nearest branch was at least six or seven feet high from the ground, which wasn't surprising considering the age of these ancient trees. Effortlessly, he hops between branches and trees until he reaches the top of one of them to survey the land. He wasn't expecting to see anything, but to his left he could make out the castle, at least five or six kilometers from his current position. "Great," he huffed.
As easily as he made his way up, Mason makes his way down the trees, and lands, with a small gust that ruffles Lupo's coat. "Well, we're in deeper than I could have liked buddy boy, but at least we know where the school is," he said with a bit of disappointment with himself, petting the dog on its head. It was then that he heard a sort of animalistic cry making both Mason and Lupo to turn into the direction of the noise.
It was said that this forest held a number of mythical creatures of many different natures, and Mason was afraid he was about to meet one. The sounds a hooves could be hear in the distance and they quickly grew louder and louder. "What are our chances that it's just a regular horse?" Mason asked Lupo, already knowing the answer. As he check his surroundings, a large horse burst forth in the small clearing that Mason and Lupo inhabited. The three stood there frozen in place, eyeing each other. Could he really be this lucky for fine just a normal horse?
Of course not. The horse tossed its head back and stamped its hooves. Then it changed from a dark horse into a large black dog. Lupo had always been considered a large dog, but this wild creature was almost twice the size. "A Gytrash?" Mason thought to himself. "You wouldn't happen to know the way back, would you?" he asked, knowing that his creature had the potential to help the two out, though he knew the answer. The gytrash was common in English folklore which was said to haunt lonely roads, though a forest of unwelcome visitors would do just fine. At times they could be generous and show the traveller back to the right back, but it was not always the case as they would usually kill and eat the travellers.
The gytrash jumped in the air to attack, and Mason spun on the spot before throwing his hands out, sending a large gust of wind, sending the beast back. "Stay back Lup, I need-AHH!!" He was cut off before he could finish. The gytrash recovered faster then he expected and managed to swipe its heavy paw across his back. The cuts were deep, instantly tearing his shirt and drawing blood. It would have been worse if Lupo had not barked to warn Mason of the incoming attack. Between the barking and Mason's yell, the noise echoed in the forest, causing birds to be disturbed and fly off. Though, as quickly as the cuts had come, they vanished. After a few moments, the only evidence of three gashes on his back was the cuts on his shirt and the blood that the shirt was stained with; not even scars appeared on Mason's back.
Recovering from the slash, Mason spun, dodging the bite the gytrash followed up with. Mason used the momentum of his dodge to swing his staff across and hit the large beast across his torso, the wind sending it off it's feet and slamming hard into the tree truck. The beast yelped, hesitated as it starred at its two adversaries, before changing back into a horse and running off. Their brief but loud fight had cause some commotion in the woods. "Let's get out of here," he told Lupo as they head off towards the school. As they ran, Mason stopped abruptly, hearing some sounds in the distance. "Hello?" he called out, hoping to be Feos or someone else from the school; even if it was, that would not mean they'd be out of danger just yet.

Feos remained standing in place as he was thinking of what to do. He didn't wish to move before formulating a plan, because otherwise, his steps could easily lead him to a wrong direction and make things worse. What should he do? Fly out of the forest? That wouldn't help much, since he was sure that he wouldn't be able to spot Mason and Lupo through the thick branches and leaves. And he had followed to help in the first place.
"Hmmm...." he mumbled to himself, arms crossed, one finger tapping on his chin thoughtfully. His eyebrows were a bit furrowed as he thought, but a cricketing sound made his eyes dart towards the source. And for some reason, flying didn't seem like too bad of an idea now.
"But Mason...." he mumbled to himself once more, as he now faced eight eyes, and then eight more, and eight more to come. Giant spiders, they had made their nest in that part of the forest. "I won't leave him..." he finally decided. He clenched his right fist tightly, making his defined and lean muscles on his forearm flex, and then sighed and relaxed.
His irises glowed white as he faced the spiders, and strands of his long hair started swaying lightly, as if there was a breeze. His right hand glowed, and a flame was created. "Are you really going to stand before me...?" he challenged the beasts, his tone of voice quiet and calm, but dripping with deadly intent.
-------- another At Mason's location a sound was heard and then another. And when Mason stopped to ask "Hello?", some branches rustled, and Feos appeared, running. He stopped abruptly though upon seeing Mason and Lupo. "Oh, hi. Why don't we...run a bit?" he asked, his tone almost cheerful but with a sense of urgency, and he started running again. If Mason had picked up some small details, there were cuts on Feos' clothes, and his long hair had some webs and was more messy. From behind him, more cricketing and rustling sounds were heard, and somehow, they even managed to sound aggrevated.
"I do strongly recommend we run..." Feos was heard from ahead, running through the thick forest.

Mason and Lupo stopped and turned to the direction of the sound. Similar to the gytrash, there were sounds of vegetation moving, though Mason didn't take and chances this time. He moved his left leg back, leaning more on his now forward right leg, his arms out stretched holding onto his staff tightly, his right arm further extended due to the positioning on his body. It was then that Mason could make out a figure bolting towards them, and he got ready to attack.
Before he did though, Feos burst through the last of bushes, making Mason scream in surprise. "Feos, what is--?" he started before the man continued on his way. Mason noticed the the numerous cuts over Feos and his stuff in his hair, though he wasn't around long enough to determine what it was."Follow him Lup," Mason commanded to the dog, who charged after Feos.
Mason turned back to the direction that Feos had come from, listening to the sound that seemed to be growing yet again, returning to the position he took before Feos revealed himself. As Mason watched intently, he could slowly start to see eyes moving very quickly towards him, paired with the sound of clicking. Whatever was coming his way, it sounded like there was a lot more then one of them. With a screech, one of the frontrunners burst forth to attack. Mason's eyes widen as he watched the giant spider soar in the air to attack. Reacting quickly, Mason spin in a circle before swiping his staff across like a sword. A concentrated, crescent shaped wave of air extended from the staff and hit the spider directly, making it fly back and hit a tree.
Using the momentum of his spin, Mason continued back around, his back facing the army of spiders and sped off after Feos and Lupo. A cloud of dirt was left behind as Mason launched forward, running at incredible speeds to flee from the spiders. He made the air both push him forwards, while moving the air in front of his to reduce his resistance, the pair of which helped him to move at speeds after than any normal person.
Within minutes, Mason caught up to the pair. "Spiders?! You greet me with a bloody army of spiders?! What's wrong with you?!" Mason yelled, running side by side with Feos, not daring to turn back to see where the spiders were.

Feos kept running, and while he didn't risk looking back in case he bumped against a branch or tree, he was listening intently for any sound that would show that Mason needed him. Fortunately, no such sound was heard, nothing that Feos could identify at least, and soon, he saw Mason running next to him. Because of the proximity, he could feel the air current around the guy, parting and pushing, and he could guess a bit of what Mason was doing. Quite clever, the Phoenix thought, and he simply chuckled.
"An army of spiders? Now, that would be quite absurd. As for this...from a quick glance, it's not an army per se..." he started, and paused only to jump over a thick fallen tree, leaping a few feet on the air with lightness and grace, and continuing to run after landing. "...I'd say it's just a few platoons of spiders, at most..." he continued, and his tone of voice was shamelessly dripping with amusement.
"You know my power, it's fire. It came to me, that I cannot freely use it here. Forest fires and the likes...." he explained as the pair and the wolflike companion ran, the spiders not far behind. "Oh, since we're following you, I suppose you are guiding us towards the school with certainty?" Feos asked, but the gleam in his eyes showed that he was very well aware that the group had been following him until a moment ago, and that he didn't have the faintest idea about where they were going.

The trio continued to run, Mason glaring at Feos as best as he could. His main focus, of course, was what was in front of him, but any free space he got, he turned his head and glared at him. "A platoon?!" he began irritated, only stoping to jump over the falling tree in front of it. It was quite large so Mason jumped on the truck before, swiped his staff up to help give height to Lupo who tried to jump it knowing the tree was just too old for his companion to clear, and with his other hand, punched out and created an air bubble, to soften Lupo's landing, before he sped off again towards Feos. A quick glance showed that the spiders were still hot on their trail. Platoon or not, they were hungry.
Mason launched off the truck to join the pair who weren't that far away. When he caught up, he heard Feos him mention Mason's direction to the school. He wanted to yell back at him, but the whole absurdity of the situation prevented that and he laughed instead. "Well I would have been if you hadn't sent these bloody spiders after us? Beside's, we've been following you this whole time," laughing that the fact that no one was leading and everyone was following. He also knew, ultimately, that this was his fault. If he had seen the pixie before hand, they wouldn't be in their current situation. The trees looked as if they were thinning however, though still thick enough to prevent Mason from seeing further forward. He turned back to face Feos. "I can check once we get these spiders off our tail, I just need you to -- AHHH!!!"
The trio, so intent on getting away from the vicious spiders, didn't realize that the thinning of trees could mean anything but safety. They fell, practically leaping from the small natural cliff that raised rough 4.5 meters (15feet). As they fell, Mason immediately turned to Lupo. The small was long enough to hurt them, but short enough to demand for a split decision. Knowing that he could, hopefully, recover, Mason spun in the air pushed both arms forward just below Lupo. The effect, like previously, created an air bubble that soften Lupos landing. Desperately, Mason kicked an leg out, trying to produce the same effect that he had just demonstrated on himself. With not enough time or focus, the air blast he produced only slowed him down slightly, and he landed hard on that leg with an audible crack, before falling to his back and screaming. He grabbed his left thigh and looked down at his shin where the break and occurred. Fortunately, the bone had no punctured his skin, though he could see the crooked angle his bone now rested at, pressing against his skin and stretching his muscles and tendons..
He turned to see Lupo, who had landed softly and was walking towards him, with his ears down. The fall had landed them in a small clearing, and fortunately, the spiders didn't seem keen on following down here. "Goddamn it! Feos... AHH!... Mate... I'm going to need you.... FUCK!.... to position my bone into place," he grunted as his body tensed, a tear rolling down his left eye from the sharp pain.

Admittedly, Mason's reaction was just as loud and surprised as Feos had hoped, and the young man had to bite on his lower lip in order not to burst out into a loud laughter, and contain it in just a series of chuckles as the pair ran. Feos thought to himself that he was having the most fun he had had in the last few months, even in such an odd and potentially dangerous situation of being chased by giant, venomous spiders inside an unfamiliar forest.
Unfortunately, the amusement and these thoughts cost him his focus, and he found his step suddenly not meeting any ground, as he started falling along with Mason and Lupo. His reflexes kicked in as he fell, and a bright white flash exploded from Feos' back, quickly becoming more dense and getting the form of two wide wings spreading at either side. He flapped once and stopped his fall, and essentially, the dense white flames were so bright that the actual wings enveloped by them could hardly be seen.
Feos hovered mid air over the opening and looked at the spiders who had stopped. His irises were glowing white, his expression was stern, and with a sudden, circular movement of his arms, a trail of blazing hot white flames was expelled, forming a semi-circle in front of him and hitting the small of the cliff, dissipating there. The message to the spiders was clear: No trees there, and if one dared to try and go down with their webs, they would pay dearly with their lives.
This display was enough for the spiders to turn around and retreat. Up to this moment, Feos was taking it easy and enjoying the moments, but when he heard Mason's cry from below, he realized that things had become more serious. He descended carefully and landed, and the wings behind him dissipated as Feos quickly walked up to Mason, seeing the bad condition of the bone.
"Calm." he simply said, his tone much more serious than before. He knelt down close to Mason, and with both hands he pushed the shin lightly. Not too much, but then, a soft white glow was emitted from his palms, and flames as soft and tame as a candles started spreading through the shin and absorbed into the skin. Startling as it might have been for a second or two, Mason would only feel soothing warmth and the feeling of the pain going away, as the flames licked the shin and corrected the bone, then mended it and the tendons. A phoenix's healing magic was one of the most formidable, and within moments, Mason's leg was properly treated.
"Sorry for bringing all this trouble to you, Mason..." Feos said calmly, and held his hand out to help Mason up.

In the pain, Mason looked up feeling the sudden burst of heat from above. He had to cover his eyes from the bright flames that assaulted the cliff side, and saw that Feos was flying. Mason would have been interested in the fact that Feos could fly, if not for the situation he was currently in. Lupo sat beside him, licking his cheek as Mason grunted. Despite having healing abilities, he would need to push the bone into its proper place before his healing could begin, and pain of this magnitude was not something he had mastered yet.
As Feos knelt beside Mason, Mason winced at the in coming hands. He had expected the pain to flare up again. "Whoa, what are you--?" he began seeing the flames on Feos hands, though stopped as the fire didn't bring more pain, but eased his own pain. Mason exhaled, and released his body, smiling. This was the most painless healing session he's ever endured with broken bones. "Thanks mate. You have healing powers too?" he asked, petting Lupo reassuringly, before slowly getting up with the help of his staff. "I do too, but they're not as developed as what you just demonstrated. I would have needed to push the bone back in place for my bones to start healing," he told Feos with a smile.
Mason walked around a bit, testing his healed left leg, making sure it felt as good as new. Once happy with that he had, he turned back to Feos with a smile. "So, I guess we got a couple options. We can either head back to castle, or we can continue on our adventure and see what we can find. What do you think?"

Feos nodded at the question about his healing powers, and watched carefully as Mason tested his healed leg. It seemed fine, which made Feos feel a bit less guilty about all this mess. He knew that technically, there was little he could have done without burning the forest, something which would have probably angered A LOT of people, but he still felt guilty and as if this had happened because of him.
Mason's smile towards him made him feel even better, and he even smiled back a bit. But when Mason asked him, he rubbed his chin in thought. "Depends on what you think, Mason. My power is fire...if we head into a space with many trees around us, I won't be able to use it freely, or even at all. Not without putting many things at risk, including our lives." Feos explained, and then sighed.
"On the other hand, there's quite a few hours till the sun sets, and this forest seems very mysterious. I don't think that all of it would be infested with evil and danger....perhaps there's hidden beauty and mysterious marvels...." Feos said, his tone almost turning day-dreamy.

Mason nodded intently as Feos spoke, nodding his head and crossing his arms against his chest. There were a number of options in front of them, and Mason had conflicting thoughts. His adventurous side wanted nothing more than to walk into the wall of trees that barley gave them any space against the cliff, on the other hand, this forest could pose threats that could overwhelm the two, especially since Feos was limited in what he could do with his abilities in the forest. "Mhmm..." Mason sounded to himself as the weighed the two options. He looked up to the sky and saw that they did in fact have a few hours left of exploration, but when he looked back down, he saw both Lupo and Feos. Lupo say, panting and exhausted from the running.
"I would love to keep exploring mate if you're up for it—don't think I want to go it alone—but I've got a couple issues," Mason began, walking back over to Feos. "First off, if we are to go exploring, I don't want Lupo with us anymore. He's tired, and I don't want him getting hurt because of my curiosity," he said to Feos calmly and politely, but it was clear in his tone that he was serious, and that he talked about his wolfdog as if he was a brother. "Secondly," this one he said more excitingly. "If we're to explore further, I'd like to see what I'm working with. You said you were a martial artist, so I'd love to spar with you. We both have healing abilities, so that's a plus! And then we know better how to tackle anything we face. Besides, worse comes to worst, we can always just fly out of the forest. What do you say?"
As he finished talking, he moved to Lupo and pet him a bit, scratching his head and chest and underbelly, talking and praising him in a typical dog voice. "Oh!" he said. "It'll also be faster if we just fly back to the castle, but if we do, you would mind carrying Lupo," Mason smily apologetically. "I can fly, but not because I have wings." Mason, gripping his staff, spun it around quickly a few times, before stopping it in the same position it started in, only this staff had become a glider, and wings spread far, with small handles for his feet to rest at the bottom, and his hands to grip at the top. "It's with that I can fly."

The Phoenix listened carefully, and quickly nodded in agreement when Mason spoke about Lupo and how they couldn't keep him around if they were to undertake a more dangerous exploration. It would have been irresponsible and risky, and Feos wholeheartedly agreed. This answer also elevated Mason just a bit more in Feos' eyes, even if he could already tell that the pair was very close, and that he already liked Mason.
Mason's second reason made Feos smile just a bit wider, and it would be a lie to say that there wasn't a gleam of excitement to be seen in the young man's eyes. A chance to spar with another martial artist, test his skills and learn about another art, it made Feos heart beat just a bit faster.
"I agree, sounds like a solid plan!" he said with a nod, and walked a bit closer, but paused when Mason started spinning his staff. Feos raised an eyebrow, not expecting what he saw next, and he let out a small whistle, being quite impressed. "Huh...I never would have guessed. Did you make that staff on your own, Mason?" he asked, his eyes observing it just a bit more and trying to decipher how it worked.
Right after that, he knelt on one knee in front of Lupo. "Good boy, Lupo. I'll be very careful and take you for a ride. You've flown before? It's very fun." he said calmly, and he gently rubbed the top of the dog's head to calm him down. At the same time, a pair of twin, white flames ignited from the same spot like before at his back, getting wider and wider behind him, condensing in the shape of wings.
This time though, there was not an oppressive heat exploding from him, but just a pleasant warmth and a white, gentle light. And contrary to before, the flames didn't remain but soon dissipated, revealing a pair of muscular, wide wings covered in long feathers, most of them in colours of red, white and golden.
Feos moved carefully behind Lupo and hugged the dog's body, and gently, he lifted him, flapped his wings twice, and flew a few feet over the ground, waiting for Mason. His wings were stretched out and slowly swaying, having a span of about 6 feet or more, and they were the definition of majestic, gleaming in a magical light.

There was no doubt about it, Mason had made a new friend. Someone to spar with, someone to explore with, someone to test his abilities. He was sure that if he stuck around with Feos, he would grow in ways both personally and spiritually. He stood proudly beside his staff turned glider as Feos asked his question. "No, I wish. My father designed it for me when I was younger. He though it would be a good tool to enhance my abilities. Can't say he was wrong," he chuckled before watching Lupo react to Feos. The dog allowed Feos to pet his head and looked at Mason as Feos mention flying. "It's okay," he nodded to his companion and watched Feos take, with care, hold of the dog and spread his wings.
This would be Lupo's first time flying (ignoring on a plane) and Mason was scared that he might pose a problem to Feos, who so kindly accepted the task of taking the dog back to the castle. As Feos grew his wings, and fire escaped and spread, a gentle and welcoming feeling filled Mason, and he was sure then, that Lupo would not pose a problem.
As the pair flew into the air, Mason watched impressed. Feos sported a brilliant pair of wings, of different varieties, while Lupo stayed nestled close to his chest. Gripped both handles with his hands, Mason crouched down before shooting high into the air, leaving a small cloud of dust behind him as he left the ground. Flying high, Mason hooked his feet over top the smaller handles at the bottom of the staff, leaned back, and flew in a circle before levelling out and soaring towards the school. He looked back at Feos with a cheeky grin before facing forwards.
As they flew, the loud sound of air blowing past Mason, filled his ears. Thoughts buzzed in his head. He wondered what martial arts Feos was partial too, and if he used it to accent his fire abilities like his did to his air abilities. Mason sped up a bit, eager to get to the grounds to begin their sparring match. He was tempted to ask for a race, but didn't want to compromise Lupos's comfortability in Feos' arms. "Maybe on the way back," he though to himself.

Feos could be seen smiling lightly, as the pair flew. The weather was clear, with only a few clouds in the horizon, and the wind caressed the youthful man's face, rejuvenating him and also improving his mood even further. He was careful to keep his arms steady, to allow Lupo to feel safety. It was yet another of those moments, when the two guys were quiet, and yet it was a comfortable silence, the two of them flying freely after having just ran off from a few platoons of spiders. Feos liked that thought and feeling.
Feos didn't fly often, because his wings often drew attention. Furthermore, a Phoenix was an extremely rare mythical creatures, and in black markets, they were greatly valuable because of their healing properties. And yet, Mason had shown the courtesy of not inquiring about his race and nature, something that Feos had welcomed and respected, and he didn't mind sharing that information with Mason anymore.
Soon, Feos' sharp eyes spotted the lone, ancient tree the pair met under, and with a nod down, he swooped low and circled around it, before carefully landing close to it in the open-ness of the meadow. Carefully, he set Lupo down, and waited for his companion to land.
"We can walk the way back when we want to, it's not far at all." he said, not wanting to fly too close to the school since he was keeping a relatively low profile. And also, if Mason wished to spar this soon, the meadow was open and quiet enough for that. Plus, for the two of them to do it close to the tree that they met, it somehow sat well with Feos.
"Lupo is quite a brave one, he didn't protest or fidget at all during the flight. Has he flied with you before, somehow?" he asked curiously, looking at Mason and stretching his legs a bit, to get them used to walking once more after the weightless feeling of flying.

The flight was quick and quiet, but it don't bother Mason at all. In fact, this was his first time flying since he got to this school, and after an already eventful day, the flying seemed like a bonus. He would definitely ask Feos for a race at some point in their friendship. Mason watched as Feos pulled ahead and started descending, gently spiralling towards the large tree they met only a couple hours ago.
Even in this short time, Mason felt as if he already knew a great deal about Feos. He watched as Feos' wings closed on his back, and gave himself a reminder to ask more about Feos and his abilities. He was going to either, but there seemed to be more pressing matters, and any chance he did get, he was more curious about things involving their friendship together; their spar an example.
Getting close to the ground himself, Mason let his legs fall of his glider, using his core strength to keep him from swaying, and begin spinning his glider. Oppositely from before, the wings folded into the staff, and the incredible speed that the staff spun kept Mason hovering like a helicopter before he stopped and gently landed on the ground.
"Is that true big guy?!" he asked Lupo in response to Feos' comment of his. The question acted like permission and Lupo sprung towards Mason, jumping in the air to be caught so he could lick Mason's cheek again. "He's never flow before, as I can't carry him. I'm glad he was good with you Feos. ... Yes I am. Yes I am you big lug," he finished his sentence to Lupo before setting him down.
"Honestly," he began, picking up his staff. "I think here's a great place to spar. Afterwards I can just drop Lupo back off, maybe pick up a couple things before we go back to exploring. I really just don't want to waste anymore time. I'm itching to see what you've got!" he said with a smirk, Lupo walking to the shade of the large tree and laid down with a huff. "I don't want you to hold out on me either!"
