Sandra was set off track by the sound of rattling objects in the area for a second or two, but her focus went back on the boy as soon as he mentioned he was in the Sapphire dorms. “Oh dude, that means we’re rivals. You know the whole water vs fire and red vs blue thing. Don’t worry though I won’t be too brutal on you” she spoke almost sounding legitimate with her words, but given her persona it was obvious she wasn’t.
She really thought that the school had to hand out some sort of map to new student because this wasn’t the first case where she had to direct a new student where to go, in fact if he asked it wouldn’t be the first time she had to give a tour either. “Well the dorms aren’t too far off from each other and I have to head back to my room before I get a cold again anyway.” she analysed. “I can probably show you where to go” she continued shifting her attention back on the school once again with a curious expression as she tried to map the layout of the school in her head based on where they were. She wasn’t exactly an expert on where everything was, but she had a reference point for about every familiar section of the school.

Jeremiah grinned for a few moments, he allowed his arms to dangle to his sides. He bunched up a fist and jerked it in the general direction of the ground, a small bolt of electricity smacked into the ground, leaving a charred mark.
"Let's be real, I'm probably closer to fire than I am to water. And don't worry, I tend to care a bit less about rivalries than most people, but they are what they are, and I accept them. It's a pleasure to meet a new rival."
He looked at the school.
"It's a huge place, and I suppose I can say that I'm actually very excited to be here. Everybody has to find their place eventually, and I think I found it."
He chuckled softly, cracking his knuckles and back.
"By the way, it's a pleasure to be a rival of yours Sandra-Darlin."

Sandra gave the charred splotch Jeremiah left on the ground a curious gaze. She supposed it probably wouldn’t be all that noticeable considering some of the bushes in the area had the same look to them. Though she began to wonder if the staff might confuse the scorch marks for a fight that might have taken place. Even so she suspected that she wouldn’t be the one caught for it if anyone were to be blamed for the minor scrapes.
“Sweet, I haven’t really had a rival ever since I got here. The whole water thing doesn’t matter, as long as you’re just in the dorm” she laughed as she finished. “It’ll be a pleasure being yours as well Jeremy.” She didn’t really feel like saying his whole name so she tried shortening it a bit and waited for his reaction to it.
“Anyway, we should probably head on in, I heard there’s a new curfew put in place and I wouldn’t want to be caught out here with this place looking the way it is” she lightly commanded as she slowly paced herself forward waiting for Jeremiah to follow.

Jeremiah smiled at the shortened name, he dipped his hands into his two front pockets, taking steps in the same direction that she was going.
"So, how exactly do they sort the dorms? I understand the whole red and blue, fire and water thing. But I'm in the water dorm because I can manipulate electricity. Are there like... sub-areas for each dorm or what?"

Sandra continued to pace herself forward as she listened to the boy speak. She was no expert on the school nor was she involved with choosing who went to which dorm based on their powers, but she felt she could to rationalize an answer to his question.
“Well, the power over an element is too generic for a whole dorm to be based around so they have to have sub category in order to even them out. If not then the Diamond dorm would be filled to the brim with student that didn’t involve the three other elements. If I were to guess, you were put in Sapphire because people with the power over light and anything involving weather are put into there I think. You can’t spell lightning without light.” she tried to explain, though she barely knew what she was talking about in the slightest. She felt that her answer may have been good enough though.
“So, where did you live before coming here, like how were you not exposed to gifted beings before you got here?” she questioned looking back at him curiously.

Jeremiah tilted his head.
"That makes perfect sense."
At her next question he scratched the back of his head, eyebrows furrowing deeply. His thoughts slowly, but surely took complete form in his head. He smirked softly and drew a breath before his baritone voice rang out.
"I was born and raised in a wealthy family, born in Kansas. When I was about three, we moved to Italy. So I suppose you can say I'm Italian, despite the lack of an accent. I didn't allow myself to adapt my voice to those around me. I tended to close myself off from others, didn't necessarily go out much except for sports practice. I focused on my homework, and as such, I didn't often get put in volatile situations, so my powers didn't manifest themselves until the past few years... When they did, it didn't happen in the best way, so I left!"

Whenever Sandra heard of a person’s reason for coming to Foresta it always seemed so dramatic. She couldn’t help but to compare her backstory to everyone else’s. Her parents were tired of her almost burning down the house, so they enrolled her in a school which she could at least try to learn how to control her powers. It didn’t seem to match up quite as much to some where all their family was dead and they had nowhere else to go, which was a surprising amount of people.
Sandra was sidetracked by thoughts for a moment or two, but she eventually brought her attention back to Jeremy. “So, what you’re saying is you grew up in Italy and you missed out on one of best benefits of being Italian; the accent. I’d call you a shut in, but then I would be a hypocrite. Though I didn’t leave my house often because it wasn’t healthy for me, so I don’t know if that still counts.” She spoke as they passed the section of the garden that Sandra had slightly burnt.

Jeremiah shrugged at the crack at his accent, he'd received comments like that before. He simply continued to follow her at the lax pace, his mind wandering slightly.
"I have the accent when I want to. But for some reason, sticking with an American seemed preferable to me if I was planning on starting a life here. And I wasn't a shut in, I simply wasn't as social as most of the people on this planet. And is it the accent, or is it the language, that's my question."
He kicked at a pebble laying at his feet, it clicked off into the darkness of the garden.

As the two came closer to approaching the door back into the school, Sandra spotted the sweater she left on the ground when she first ran out the door. She was thankful that she had decided to bring it at all, otherwise she’d be pretty cold the rest of the way back to her room. Being cool was a welcome change from earlier, but too much of it wasn’t a good thing for her body. She picked it back up, slipped her arms into the sleeves, and zipped it up in a swift set of motions.
“Villainous figure always sound cooler with accents. I wouldn’t really care if you knew the language, even if you did I wouldn’t be able to tell. You could easily just make up words and I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference” she responded in a matter of fact sort of tone. “Does that also mean that you’re a good baker?”

Jeremiah shrugged quietly, he absentmindedly adjusted the rings that rested on his fingers, twisting them this way and that. He seemed to think it quite comedic that his lack of an accent in some way made himself less interesting. He chuckled softly at the final question in her line of speaking. It was at this point that he began to speak with an Italian accent that, yes, sounded authentic.
"It means that I know how to make nearly every kind of Italian food, yes I can bake, quite well I think. And before you ask, no, we don't like making pizza. It's Americanized Italian food. It's good, simply not quite so authentic."

Sandra pulled open the door that led inside the school as she listened to the boy speak in his Italian accent. She couldn’t doubt that the man did come from Italy, well it was either that or he spent a lot of time practising it which seemed funny in her head. She let herself in the building first and pushed the door behind her leaving the boy with a bit of time to enter through before it closed.
“Hm, I thought that was just a stereotype sort of thing. Oh well. Anyway, if you just follow me down this way I can show you where your dorm is” she said as she pointed down the hall to the right. “Though you might have to find your room on your own. I don’t want to be splashed by some guy practising his water bending” she stated uncertain if she was legitimately afraid of that happening. Either way she assumed that she wasn’t allowed in the dorm considering how late it was.

Jeremiah chuckled softly at her words, he stopped adjusting his rings and placed one hand at his side, the other performing a salute at the crown of his noggin. He still didn't drop the accent, however.
"Whatever you say fire lady."
He continued to laugh softly at the thought of somebody accidentally dousing her in water.
"I'm sure the room won't be an issue once I find the dorms. Somebody told me thatthere weren't too many males in the Sapphire dorms for some odd reason, so I'm guessing I may be able to just choose a room.'
