The vice-principal smiled gently when Amy described the clinic as boring. "I'd say a little boredom is pretty relaxing for our little school. Maybe it's something that should be prescribed more often." Her eyebrows shot up a little and she glanced at Jaime. "I'm not going to deny that it would be amazing for Jaime to get a job that had a little more to it than per diem or part-time labels to it. But he'd need a bit more under his belt than simple experience to take your job, Amy. Besides that, the thought has never crossed his head. He's just too lazy."
At that, Jaime overheard their conversation and said, "Hey!"
Caroline grinned at him and teased, "Perezoso! Jaime seemed to think about that and shrug, acknowledging that he was probably lazy.
Amy's confidence that the twins would be allowed home in no time had Caroline feeling a little less anxious about the situation. "Thank you." She grinned at the kicking comment, and enthused, "That's a lovely name!" The fact that the little girl would have Emilio's last name made her smile falter slightly, but only due to the renewed grief. "Rosalie Emilia Cardenas. That's beautiful, Amy. I'm sorry that-"
There wasn't much else she could have said before Tobias's flurry of activity left both her and her half-brother's brother in stunned silence. This was not a good sign. It made her incredibly nervous- Tobias needed to get his act together or she couldn't do anything to rectify the situation with Agent G. As it was, she couldn't be sure that her measures would have been successful.
He left and the doctor was now there, telling her that they wanted to keep her babies for observation, telling her that she could leave the next morning. She didn't even respond to the doctor's question about Tobias's intensity. Any answer wouldn't necessarily improve the man's less-than-stellar image. "If neither of them are sick or unhealthy, I would like to take them home as soon as possible." She wanted to stand up, to present a stronger front, but that would be unwise. As it was, she had declined most of the heavier drugs. Too many things were hazy, or had been hazy.
Tobias's condition should have shocked her. It did not. When he informed them that Agent G had spoken with him, she shook her head. "Sure, what's there to worry about? The overgrown bat has attached itself to you and you come in.... like this?" If the media was to be believed, all four of them could, and would, retaliate in force against the man in such a way that would leave nothing left of him to bother them. However, she was of a rational mind and that mind was straining against the bonds of exhaustion and pain to work at full tilt towards a solution to this problem. "Did Agent G have anything interesting to say, or was it more intimations and nasty anti-gifted sentiment?"
