"I am sure there are stronger sun-grasses out there. "Why don't the normare ones work?" Jiro had decided to drop attempting a Western accent by now, leading to a more even tone of voice. It seemed a lot more natural, but still pretty strange. What Miller had said seemed innocent of itself, and Jiro decided to pry a little bit further into the story. "You started reading a book?" It's not completely implausible, but given Miller's previous comments I'm more inclined to assume that he wasn't just reading. Particularly given the size of most books you find in religious buildings, and the kind of paper they use, I doubt anyone with issues in the English language would just choose to read something like that. "I think it's safe to say you have it on your person. Say, in a pocket? In a pocket such as the one on the right-hand side of your pants, with a lump in it, say?" Jiro was prepared to receive a barrage of annoyance at this point, so he continued without break. "Do you rike seeing buirdings? Are you interested in" What's the word?"architecture?" Jiro only knew the word because one of the people on his English course wanted to work in America on architecture. In most contexts it was pretty pointless, really. "Arso, why didn't you just ask one of them?" His method of getting through the door made a lot of sense, really. It was good that Miller had come with him. Jiro walked right up to the street-vendor, slinging his bag off his shoulder so he could retrieve his money from its depths, and quickly got the man's attention. "Herro." Jiro said. "My friend here," He gestured at Miller, "has mispraced his sun-grasses and has very sensitive eyes. "Can he test out your highest protection of sun-grasses, prease?" The vendor perused the small teenager for a second, trying to figure out whether he was deliberately trying to annoy the vendor by making his speech so distorted, before reluctantly passing Jiro a pair of folded sun-glasses, and Jiro flipped one arm open, holding the shades delicately between his thumb and forefinger at the end of the arm, and passed them towards Miller. "Here. Try these."

The largest problem that Miller had experienced with sunglasses was that the ones he owned still had gaps when he wore them which still let sunlight in. A pair that sealed against his face would be much preferable, but he had never come across a pair that fit against his face so tightly. “The pair I had didn’t work so well because the lens weren’t thick enough and it didn’t fit against my face well.” Miller did not know much about glasses so he assumed that the thickness of the lens affected the amount of light that entered through the glasses.
“Of course I still have the book on me, I didn’t finish it yet” the book was much too hard for him to finish in one night. Besides he was quite enjoying the literature even though every other word was a challenge to him. He much preferred it over the books he had to read for English class.
The man asked if he liked buildings. He supposed this was true, but by that definition he liked just about every that was outside of his holding cell back at his old ‘home’. It wasn’t so much as a likeness for anything as it was a curiosity for things that were unknown to him. Which he supposed could be something he enjoyed. “I like experiencing things I have not before, so I guess you could say I like buildings. I don’t know about architecture, though the definition of it escapes me so that may be why.” Neither of them seemed to know big words that well he wondered why either of them attempted to try and use them.
The man passed him a command about a new pair of sunglasses, but Miller was unsure of how he was going to grab them. He supposed he had to move his arm out of its place. He braced his eyes by shutting them as closely as possible to avoid harm to his pupils. His arm slowly removed itself from its resting place and toward the area where he heard the man’s voice last. He had to grab at the air a couple times before he felt the metal and glass object on his finger tips. He grasped them tightly, but not so much to break them. He retracted his arm and attempted to place the eye covers onto his face. He failed the first couple of times, but he adjusted after each failure so that he could be more successful the next time. Finally the glasses were placed on his face.
He opened his eyelids and instantly he was able to see again. The glasses still bothered his eyes a bit, but this was the best he was going to get. “These work for the most part…”
The police officer was now nearly behind them now. In a couple more seconds he would be situated within their area, in fact he was within shouting distance from them. He didn’t make a sound however since the streets were still crowded with people and still buzzing loudly. Any noise he would make wouldn’t catch the student’s attention.

"Fair enough." Thick lens? I assume he means wide. A wider lens would help more, but a thicker lens? "It is hard for a non-Engrish native to read much of it at once. "Do you mind if I see this book?" Judging by his descriptions of English lessons, Miller probably wasn't the best reader out there. If a person like that was willing to read a book, it couldn't be too bad. Jiro also wanted to see what it actually was. Miller's excuse sounded fairly reasonable to him. He wasn't entirely sure why you would like experiencing new things, but he'd heard a lot of people say stuff like that before, so it wasn't too strange. "Architecture is stuff to do with buirdings. I think it's mostry about the design, but it could be anything to do with buirdings, such as how peopre make them." It wasn't surprising to find out that Miller didn't know what architecture meant. It wasn't a very common word, after all. Miller tried putting on his new shades several times before he succeeded. Jiro was ready to try and do it himself before he managed it. One of the few things that really annoyed Jiro was when people were being stupid or failing at something, so it was good to see they fitted. It would have been a nuisance if they hadn't, as the vendor didn't look too happy about Jiro the first time, and several attempts wouldn't help. "As rong as it's an improvement, it's fine. Jiro gave the street vendor a few dollars, and continued walking, back to their earlier pace. The vendor got back to his work. Jiro took his spoon again, picking out more syrup from his tin. As he lifted the spoon to his mouth, he got the prickling feeling on his neck again. Jiro popped the spoon back into his tin. He tried to ignore the feeling, but it was very persistent. He rubbed the back of his neck, trying to calm himself down. I felt this just a minute or so back. I don't normally get this paranoid, and it's a bit strange. He was more concerned about the coincidence than the actual paranoia. Jiro turned his head, scanning the people on either side of him, but not seeing anybody who would make him feel threatened. He didn't like paranoia, and wanted to make sure that whatever was causing this couldn't do them harm. He started trying to muster his reserves of power, to be able to use his abilities if anything went down. It never hurt anyone to be prepared, or to give warning. "I feer rike someone is right behind me. A...How do you say (?)...Like a ghost or something."

Jiro asked to see his newly found book, he had no reason to refuse him so Miller dug into his pant pocket and searched quickly for it. It nearly took up his entire pocket so it did not take that long to find. He snatched it with his only hand and pulled it out with slight ease. It was a fairly small book that was within his grasp, it was only just a bit bigger than his entire hand. The cover and back were completely black with an absence of any sort of design besides the title which read ‘The Holy Bible’ in gold lettering on the upper half of the cover. “Not a problem, it isn’t exactly a rare book to find.” He handed him the small book shortly afterwards as per his command.
Even with the sunglasses on Miller still had to squint just to make sure he doesn’t damage his eyes. They worked for the most part, but there were still flaws to them. Perhaps one day someone could make him a specially made pair of glasses that could allow him to roam around during the day, but for now Miller preferred the night instead. At the least he was able to see straight out in front of him now, but he did not try to shift his eyes from there as he didn’t want his pupils to move near the gaps between his eye sockets and the lens.
“I do admire the work that went into such a building as the church back there, so I suppose I am a fan of architecture.” Miller wasn’t really sure if his statement was completely accurate because no other building he had ever seen gave him any interest. Besides the school, but that place would spark anyone’s interest.
Ghost was not a term Miller was all too familiar with being a man raised by science. Things like those usually went unmentioned as there were no concrete facts made of such mythical beings. Then again Miller wasn’t an ordinary creature either so perhaps they did exist in this universe, there are much more oddities that roamed the island that seemed preposterous. Although Jiro’s warning also signified someone was following them, but who would be? Miller’s mind went straight toward the island guards as they were probably still searching for him.
Once the officer came closer to the two, he began a swifter jog to try and catch up with them. His countenance radiated focus, without displaying so much of any sort of emotion. He knew he wasn’t too far from the two, but he wanted them to cease their movement so he loudly commanded the two to stop where they were. Miller complied instantly as he didn’t want to get into further trouble than he already was and resisting the officer was probably not a step into the right direction.

Jiro took the book from Miller's hand, and turned it over a few times, absorbing what it looked like. "Stupid "L"s", he muttered, as he saw the title. The "L" was very forced and unnatural when he said it. Jiro opened the book to a random page, and was a little overwhelmed by the sheer amount of writing, and its diminutive size. He'd seen text-walls before, but this was on a new level. He couldn't believe anyone would read this casually. He tried to turn one of the pages, but about ten came with each other. "You were reading this by choice?" Jiro had never seen anything particularly interesting about architecture. As long as there were walls and a roof, there weren't rats in the basement, and it didn't flood constantly, it was good enough for him. He certainly wasn't interested by old-fashioned buildings. Humans were supposed to be ever-improving, not regressing a thousand years. The idea of being impressed by something that low-tech seemed wrong to him, like they wanted to go backwards. Because of this, Jiro wasn't completely sure how to respond to Miller's comment. Jiro didn't want to arouse suspicion onto either of them, which meant no further actions until his paranoia had gone. He was beginning to believe that Miller hadn't meant to do anything wrong, but this would be easier to prove without interruption. As such, he didn't react at all until he heard a command behind him. He took another step before he stopped. He swiveled on his heel. Jiro turned so he could see the officer behind them, and slowly took another spoonful of sugary fluid out of his tin. It was practically empty now. He looked up cautiously from his spoon. It took a moment's concentration to find what he wanted to say. "Why should we have to? I'm in complete support for assisting you, officer, but I don't understand how stopping two students can aid you in finding a brigand."

Miller turned around to face the officer that had commanded him to cease his movements. He was able to catch up fairly easily since the two them waited for the man’s arrival. He did not waste time to make his way over to them and was probably moving faster than he was earlier to originally catch them. He took a moment to catch his breath and Miller watched nervously as he waited for the man to release the words he wanted to say. Luckily his sunglasses hid most of his nervous countenance so he did not seem nearly as suspicious as he would otherwise. Unfortunately he was now facing the direction of where the sun was located overhead, it did not help his eyes, but the sting given off was minor due to his eyewear. He avoided looking at the sky as much as possible, but it was still a task difficult of completing.
“Is there a problem officer?” Miller asked disguising his nervousness of the situation. He knew he did nothing too bad, but punishment was still punishment and he didn’t want that. The police man sort of gave him a suspicious glare as he still suspected him as the culprit of the crime, but no further evidence proved that it was him, so he could outright accuse him.
The officer looked down on Jiro after he spoke to him. “First of all, I never mentioned anything about a criminal and if you were in complete support of me you wouldn’t have to question my authority unless I was asking you of something irrational” the officer stated quite blandly. Miller gave Jiro the ‘you’re not helping’ sort of gaze, but with his eyes behind the dark lens of his glasses he probably wouldn’t be able to read it. The officer’s attention quickly changed from the small man with the tin and went back to the equipped offender. The two were nearly at the same eye level, but Miller was still clearly taller. “Your friend here may be the culprit that defaced the church property, but since he is a student and that blade of his is actually… his arm, I’ll set him off with a ‘power discharge’ warning.” The man continued in his bland and monotone voice as he got out a little note pad and began to write on it with a small pen he plucked off his uniform.

Jiro didn't like the officer's response. He wasn't really in a position to judge, but just because you agree with someone doesn't necessarily mean you can't ask questions to help them. Jiro shrugged. "Sometimes you have to question everything to get the best answer." It wasn't exactly what he wanted to say, but it was a start, and he was by no means sure of how to phrase it. "The fact you're searching for a brigand is obvious, officer, or the keisatsu would not have been called out." I forgot about these people who cannot reach a logical deduction or even see the chain of thought behind it. Goodness, I don't want to patronize a police officer, but... "I doubt any officer would be called out to something that wasn't a crime scene, and that rather suggests there was a brigand of some kind, and given the amount of you, I'd be prepared to think it was a bigger offense. Such as theft." Jiro realized he was still holding the book in his hand, along with the tin. He twisted his hand a little so it didn't look like he was hiding anything. He sensed the tall guy's eyes on him, and looked sidelong towards him. Jiro sensed Miller was trying to say something with his eyes, but as he had never been good at reading expressions, he couldn't tell what the message was meant to be. Miller's sunglasses weren't exactly helping with this. Jiro noticed he was still charging in preparation to use his powers. Now that there was clearly no need for his powers to be put into practice, he had no idea how he was going to discharge. As it was, Jiro was now starting to get a faint tingling feeling in his fingertips, as if something were about to happen, along with a very quiet sound, almost like humming. He started wiggling his toes to diffuse the feeling, but it didn't really work. Besides, the street was freezing, and his feet were getting pretty cold now. Jiro decided to try to take his attention off of his power, onto anything else, and he gratefully latched onto what the officer was saying. "A "power discharge warning"? What's that?" Stupid question. At least it changed the focus of his attention.

Miller was relieved that the man was only going to issue him a warning for his accidental actions. He still did not want to know what they did with criminals on this island. Though he was unsure why the officer just outright blamed him for the door. He didn’t prove to have any sort of evidence against him, but then again putting the pieces together one could figure him to be the culprit easily; the largest clue being the large slice on the door and Miller being the only civilian within range of the church with a visibly sharp increment. He didn’t question it so long as he wasn’t severely punished for it.
Jiro continued to question the man much to Miller’s displeasure. He didn’t exactly want to carry out this conversation more than he had too because the school’s dark corridors just seemed wonderful to him right about now. Besides he didn’t want to push the officer so far as to revoke the warning and get an even worse punishment for his offense. Maybe it was just his meek attitude getting the better of him again, perhaps he should learn to be a bit more assertive so that he could fight his own battles instead of leaving that task to whomever is around him at the time.
The officer dully looked down at Jiro once more as he continued to speak. He finished writing the ticket, so he placed both the objects he had into one hand. “And sometimes an answer is unnecessary. You don’t have to fight every battle you're offered, sometimes you should save your breath for the battles that do matter. That’s just my opinion however, so take that however you may please” he dully retorted almost without any sort of care. He gently grabbed the ticket again and ripped it off to hand over to Miller. Miller took the ticket as any law abiding citizen should.
Miller noticed that Jiro was trying to hide the bible from the police man, quite subtly in fact. He didn’t question why just yet, in case it had something to do with the police man. Miller’s rationale behind it was; he may be trying to steal it from him while they were both distracted. He didn’t care for such a sour thought, but the man hadn’t proved himself to be all trustworthy just yet. Then again he hadn’t proved himself to be untrustworthy either so Miller was a bit conflicted on that.
“A ‘power discharge warning’ is a warning issued out to students of Foresta Academy who have difficulty controlling their powers. So when a situation like this comes around, instead of charging students for property damage we issue them a few warnings before they are fully charged for such an act. Students are a high priority on this island and we do our best not to drive them away when power related accidents arise.” The man explained as though he was scripted to say exactly that whenever it was brought up.

Jiro was a little pleased to see that there was no greater punishment on his new acquaintance. He knew he should probably stop annoying the keisatsu sooner than later, in case the officer changed the sentence, but Jiro couldn’t resist his need to correct the man. “If some things don’t matter, at what point do you know that they do matter, officer-sensei? To one person a thing might be irrerevant, but to another, cruciare.” He stopped himself before he went on. Philosophy helped to define what is right or wrong, and what sentences are acceptable, in the eyes of the law, so any member of the law enforcement should know philosophy or they wouldn’t be able to decide if a person is in the wrong or the right. How useful even is a member of the kachan who can’t understand simple philosophy? And it’s a code of honor to take up battle. A good soldier, especially a soldier for justice, should always want to take up battles otherwise criminals would never be addressed or caught. How did he even become an officer? Jiro was a little relieved to see his plan working. The book was in clear sight, and if the officer looked at it, he’d probably be arrested, but he wasn’t drawing any attention to the bible, so thus-far he was fine. However, the police officer would probably notice soon. If we seem too anxious to leave, that’ll seem suspicious, but if we stay too much longer, he’s bound to notice the book at some point, at which point I’m going to get a criminal record. The strain on his wrist from the combined weight of the sugar, the tin and the book was beginning to become uncomfortable, so he put the spoon in the tin, and transferred the tin over to his other hand. He wasn’t particularly sure that that wouldn’t attract some attention, but it would attract less than if he dropped the stuff. The officer’s next comments almost made Jiro believe he was a robot of some kind, and he wanted to use his abilities to check that, but he figured that would show a large amount of disrespect, given he’d have to put his hand flat on the guy for a few seconds, which wouldn’t be a great idea in these circumstances. “I do rike the idea of this “power discharge”, however, why can’t KenSai outside this isrand get it if we can? I’m not compraining, but I think it’s not unreasonabre if one group of peopre can get something, that other groups can too.”

With the newly acquired ticket in hand Miller watched idly as the two were still discussing among themselves. He wasn’t sure why the two had decided to begin a conversation while the officer was trying to do his work, but they did anyway. His gaze was mostly toward the ground as he waited and listened for the two to end their speeches to each other. Frankly Miller wanted to get out of the sun as soon as possible. This time where Miller had became ignored gave him some time to think, though he didn’t have much to think about really besides how much he wanted to return to school.
From the corner of Miller’s eye, he could notice Jiro’s difficulty at holding up what was in his hands. He quickly figured out that the cause of that was the strange way he was holding the items. He was sort of confused as to why he had the items in that position if it was only going to give him complications. Miller raised his head again and positioned it over to Jiro’s location. “Do you need help with that?” he asked in a lowered tone as he did not want to loudly interrupt their conversation. Miller offered his only hand over with the ticket lodged in between two of his finger so that he had more surface area to stack some of the items he carried.
The officer continued to look displeased with the other student’s continued responses. He gave off a sort of dull frown, but he did not express much else, so Miller assumed that was his extent of showing displeasure. “Look kid, we obviously don’t think the same way stop trying to force your own opinions onto mine.” He replied in his droning tone. The police man gave off a strange tone in Miller’s opinion; it was off setting to say the least. He had a strange feeling about him, but he couldn’t really pinpoint what if was. “This safe haven and the outside world have many things different about them. Our laws here are more tolerant of the gifted folk and are more lenient in our favour. It would be incredibly difficult for some of our laws to be accepted into the rest of the world.”

Jiro had decided that between staying in conversation and leaving, leaving would be more productive. The officer didn't seem overly impressed by him, and Jiro wasn't getting anything beneficial out of the conversation either. Jiro cussed in his mind as Miller offered to help. The very fact he was offering to help was pretty detrimental for the plan. Miller had just drawn attention to the book, which was the worst possible thing he could have done. Showing this, however, would be a bad idea, too, as it would draw even more attention. Whatever Jiro did would draw more attention. His only hope was to appear trusting and open; the opposite of most criminals, and this meant handing something over quickly. If he handed over the tin, it would be almost like screaming “I don’t trust you with anything as important as this book!”, which only left him with one option. It would work the same either way, drawing suspicions to whatever object he retained, but at least his tin wasn't a piece of evidence. Jiro held out his hand and gently placed the book into Miller’s palm, being careful to avoid dislodging the ticket, whilst trying to pull it off in an off-hand manner. Jiro turned his eyes quickly back onto the officer, analyzing his face to see if he’d gotten suspicious.. To that end, replying might actually be a good idea now. It would serve as a distraction so the officer might not be suspicious over Jiro’s previous actions. “As you say that, you’re forcing your views that I should give up onto me, and I think you just told me not to do that, rendering your point moot. However,” he spoke in a tone that indicated surrender. ”Our” favor? Wait, was this officer a KenSai too? If one member of the kachan has Gifuto, how many others have them? Is it possible that they went to Foresta Academy years back? Jiro shook his head slightly. That could wait. Now was as good a time to go as any, so Jiro turned to walk off. “Douma, officer-sensei!” He crossed his fingers, hoping that the officer wouldn't follow, and wouldn't have noticed the bible either. He started to walk off, waiting for the officer to notice.

Miller was joyous to see that of the two items Jiro could give him it was the book in return. Good, he wasn’t sure whether or not he could trust his new companion with such an article. Then again he didn’t seem to have much interest in it when he first opened it, but that could have been an act, sometimes people lie to get what they want and that was not a trait he thoroughly enjoyed. Now he was just assuming things, he should probably stop that until he knew this strange new companion better.
Miller clamped down onto the book once it was placed into his hand and dangled his arm at his side. He made no effort to hide the small book, but he really had no reason to, even if he was aware of the current situation the best way to hide something was in plain sight. The officer did not leave his attention of Jiro and only offhandedly viewed the two’s transaction briefly. He gave no reaction to the exchange as he probably only saw it as a kind gesture if nothing else. The officer never truly considered theft as it seemed incredibly unlikely because who steals from a church? Besides that what is there of any value within a church? Bibles are so common that even every hotel room comes with at least one their overall worth cannot be that high.
“I said ‘take my views however you may please’, you however are twisting my own words against me” the man said right before Jiro turned to walk away. Miller looked at the officer as Jiro spoke his leaving words because he had no clue what half of those words meant. Given the confused look the police man gave off he didn’t know either, but he could probably assume the meaning better than Miller could. “Enjoy your day” The officer blandly expressed to the two as he turned away as well. Miller assumed this meant the transaction was over so he quickly turned around to join up with Jiro. “Well, he was a nice guy…” Miller stated unsure if he was sincere about that or not.

It was good that the officer paid no special attention to the transferal. Jiro didn't particularly want to end up in a jail cell, and he didn't think Miller wanted that either. Again, Officer-sensei, you order me in a way which undermines your own argument. Saying I should not tell people what to think, and then making me take that view as my own? Hypocrite. All there is to say. It doesn't really matter, though. I don’t care what he thinks about me, and I doubt he cares what I think about him. As long as he can catch crooks, he’s good enough. Except he can’t. Jiro looked side-long at Miller for a second, then snapped out of it. No. Miller-san couldn't have meant to steal anything; as he said, it was probably just curiosity. It sure started like that, anyway. “Aa, hai. Thank you, officer-sensei, have a nice day, too.” He bowed now, deliberately being short about it. He may have to respect the higher-ups, but he didn't have to over-do it. Now Jiro’s attention wasn’t drawn away by annoying the officer, he was beginning to feel like he was about to explode again. Maybe it was just a one-off sugar-rush, for the first time in his memory, but it seemed more like he was over-charged. He disliked doing this, but he started pushing his Nano-bots into the tin-can in the hopes that he’d cool off. As he was doing this, his other hand fidgeted. He stuffed it into his pocket, looking for another distraction. Jiro disagreed with Miller’s comment, but didn't exactly know why. Maybe it was just because they’d only been talking for a few minutes, and he hadn't had long enough to pick up what it was, but there was something that he didn't like about the officer. Perhaps it was just meeting a Westerner who didn't stress seemingly random syllables in every sentence that had thrown him; it hadn't seemed correct. “If you say so, but I don’t rike peopre who think rike him. Has he ever heard of buirding on others' work?” Jiro stopped speaking, suddenly aware that he must have seemed like a hypercritical idiot in that last conversation. “I guess I must have seemed strange to him, huh. “So, now that you can see a rittre, do you know how to get back to schoore?”

Miller waved the officer good-bye, but did not turn to express his feeling of his departure. The man was probably not even watching them anyway, so it was quite useless of him to do such a thing. After his gesture had been completed he moved his palm from behind him to the side of his face to try and keep the sun’s rays from entering his eye protectors. It wasn’t doing too much damage before he had done this, but it was incredibly irritating to the point he felt he needed to do it to restore his sanity before it was lost.
Now that the legal aspects had been dealt with, it was time to return home. Miller’s head moved rapidly to scan the environment he was within. The town was not as familiar to him as the school was, but he still knew his way around fairly well. He had been on this island for quite a while now and most of his time was dedicated to wandering as his social life was sort of non-existent. Perhaps that was because not many people were nocturnal like he was, but there were still people he did talk to, not often though. Miller spotted a very familiar vendor, it was one of the only ones that stayed open during midnight. It was one he often avoided due to the lamps keeping it well lit during night hours. He knew exactly where the two could go from here. Although he had some doubts due to the fact it was not often he went through this sort of route.
“You seem strange to me, though I’m not sure if the officer would agree. I find most people to be strange, mostly because they act so differently from one another. It’s not exactly something I’m used to just yet.” Miller replied to Jiro’s comment on the past conversation he had with the police man. Miller had always judged human natures to be fairly the same back before he arrived at Foresta. With the little interaction he had with the outside world he could never really imagine his theory to be wrong. He was though and it has been a very tough time for him to adapt to an area where everyone didn’t have a common hatred over him. Once that thought was over he attempted to shove it out of his thought process altogether. Those types of thoughts were never nice to reopen.
“Yes, our path home shouldn’t be too long from here.”

Jiro noticed Miller trying to hide his eyes further. He was a bit disappointed that his plan didn't work as well as he'd hoped, but at least he wasn't blind to the world now. "It's good to know I'm not the onry one who finds other peopre strange. Although it is weird for you to reason that from them acting differently. It is true, but it's certainly not the first thing that comes into my head. However, if you're used to everyone being the same, it seems reasonable enough. "I just don't understand them." Jiro was curious about Miler's past now, but he wasn't sure if he really wanted to know. It was almost guaranteed to include some psychopath who decided to attach a katana to a teenager's arm, and an unknown amount of similarly sick-minded individuals. "Which way leads back to school?" Jiro had only been in the village once before now, when he had arrived, and it couldn't hurt him to learn how to get around here. Jiro still felt like someone was following them, so he looked over his shoulder. He couldn't see anybody following, but there were a lot of officers milling around near the church, and it seemed like quite a few must have gone inside now. Once inside, they probably wouldn't take too long to notice the missing book. Then it wouldn't take Einstein to figure out what had happened. Sure it was only a book, but Jiro didn't really want to be around when the police realized, and that meant getting out of here before then- aka very quickly. He really wanted them to hurry up, but he knew he'd never be able to maintain a decent pace for very long, certainly not anything like fast enough or long enough to outrun any keisatsu who followed. Jiro popped the last few dregs of the syrup into his mouth, and put the tin in his bag. "I assume you can run faster than me, if worst comes to worst. "Don't go yet, but judging from that" Jiro waved his hand vaguely over his shoulder tiwards the church. "We might be needing to hurry soon."
