Miller stood a small distance away from Lucy as he watched her open the door to the building. Once opened he remained quite as he entered the warehouse quite quickly to escape the rain which got his clothes soaked, but at least the blood stain on his stomach faded away a bit (still visible though).
Miller was glad that the building’s lights were off, his eyes preferred the darkness. He heard the chatter and was curious as to who it was talking, but there was a wall of boxes blocking his vision, so he searched the crates for any possible gaps. There were none, his backup plan was to climb over the wall, but then she gave him a gesture to stay quite. This gesture was new to him, but he got the gist of what it meant.
He looked at the ladder after Lucy told him to go first, which he doesn’t understand why because he’s much larger and only has one usable hand which was still recovering from stitches, plus he’s wet therefore he’s slippery. He went anyways and replied to her with a simple head nod, then latched his hand onto the ladder with his left arm dangling to his side. He lifted himself up to the fifth step and looked back down to see if she followed, then continued on not knowing where this exactly led to.

Lucy followed Miller up the ladder at a safe-ish distance, her bare feet slipping slightly at first. Once she and Miller reached the top, she discovered what they'd climbed onto.
Scaffolding. It crosscrossed the warehouse at regular intervals. Lucy wasn't sure what its normal purpose was, but it was perfect for any wannabe spy or snoop with any amount of stealth. Up here, she could catch snatches of the conversation occurring closer to the other end of the warehouse.
"...made it seem like a mugging. Stabbed the girl and everything." A pause as somebody with a deeper voice spoke (harder to hear from their current position). Then the first person (a woman, from the sound of things) resumed. "No fucking way. Shoulda seen what the little fucker did to Charlie and Boyd."[/b] Her voice shook with anger. "They're both dead, dammit. You didn't tell us they were killers! We have powers, sure, but nothing like that.... gave 'em fucking poison. Rabies. Goddamn rabies."
Lucy's brow furrowed. What the heck was this? The rehearsal for a local enactment of a crime drama? She decided that whatever it was merited a closer look, even though the very thought of spying on somebody made her heart race like nobody's business. She cast a worried look at Miller, hoping he could handle some more stealth. She gestured at him to follow her and she crept closer to the origin of the voices.
The light grew as she got closer and she stopped when her line of sight passed over the tops of some crates and down into a nook lit only by an LED lantern. Several people were illuminated, but the details were difficult to make out at this distance.
The woman was still talking, light dancing on her profile as she gestured angrily. "Going to kill him... and his friends. I want blood."
Another woman laughed and said haughtily, her voice thick with a hispanic accent, "How are you going to do that? Die on him? Espera, girl. I've got people coming. We're going to do this our way." She nodded at a person standing off by himself. He (based on the body shape) was engulfed in the shadows between two stacks of crates.
"You bitch! You think you and your friend there can breeze on in here and start giving us orders? You might have paid us for the stabbing, but it wasn't enough to make it worth it. Now that we have a reason to go in and kick some ass, you tell us to wait? Fuck this. Pay us triple or we do it our way."
Lucy wasn't sure what she was listening to, but it wasn't good. Her hands shook, so she swallowed hard and forced them to stop moving. If any of those people happened to look over, they probably wouldn't see the two students unless they were moving. She wondered what Miller thought of all this.[/size]

Miller was relieved when he finally got to the top, he didn’t feel too safe climbing that ladder. He sat himself down as soon as he got off the ladder, but still left space for Lucy to get up. He almost forgot about the voices from earlier until he heard the woman speak.
He stood up and tried to listen in on what the group of people were saying. Once he realised what they were discussing he backed away a bit and lowered himself knowing that it wouldn’t be good if he were to be caught. He was in a bit of a panic which could be told by taking a glance of him, he was wide eyed and his fingers were jittery. He didn’t know what to think of this at the moment, he only knew that whatever these people were up to it was no good.
When Lucy looked back at him and gestured him to follow, he did and tried to keep as quiet as possible. He held his arm blade in his hand to make sure it did not collide with anything. He listened to the shady figures chatter again, the thought of trying to stop them before they put their plan into effect passed through his head a couple times, but never ended too well.
Miller couldn’t handle listening in on these people anymore, but he knew he couldn’t leave either because that storm was most likely still going on. He tried to whisper as quietly as he could over to Lucy “what should we do?”

Lucy was going to answer Miller when something odd occurred below. Not that the current situation wasn't a little abnormal, but this next thing startled her to her core.
The woman who was out for blood was turning to leave when the Hispanic woman stepped forward and said in a calm voice, "I asked you to wait." She made a gesture to a couple other individuals, who had been seated on boxes while the conversation was going on. "You're going to wait." She snapped a couple orders to the men. Spanish. Lucy wasn't bilingual, but the gist of the commands were gotten when one seemed to take a shortcut through some boxes so he could block off the escapee's exit.
Had her eyes deceived her? He'd gone all... intangible, like a ghost. Neither of the men said anything, and their movements were markedly... well, unusual. It was difficult to describe, even in her mind. Something just seemed off about the two and she wasn't given a whole lot of time to think about it. The other man grabbed the woman's arm and she stabbed him in the gut with a knife that had previously been hidden. The whole thing went down in less than ten seconds.
Lucy gasped and immediately regretted it. Several sets of eyes turned their way. It was time to go. Why had she not brought her violin? Even if it was completely useless in a getaway situation, she always felt safer with it on hand.
The man who'd been stabbed reeled back and looked down at his stomach, an expression of surprise slowly spreading across his face as though the situation was having a difficult time penetrating through a mental fog. The Hispanic woman barked an order and the remaining person rose from his seat. He pulled out a gun. Lucy didn't stay to watch the rest. "Run!"
|| Dude, feel free to play the henchies if you like. They're pretty much like puppets in this situation. ||

Miller knew the situation has gotten worse when the man was stabbed, but when Lucy gasped his head turned over to her and he went bug eyed as he knew they were caught. He immediately jumped up from where he was crouching after she shouted to run. He didn’t even think to question it, after the man below pulled a gun he wasn’t sure if meant to shoot at them or not. With Miller’s past experiences with guns he only knows of ones that used tranquilizers, so he might not think of it as lethal as most people would.
He wasn’t exactly sure where to go, the ladder was out of the question as that would leave them as easy targets if they didn’t move fast enough. An idea popped into his head when he looked off the edge of the scaffolding, he figured that he could simply jump off then activate his skin hardening ability and he’ll be able to land without getting injured. He did not account anything for what he will do after he lands due to the fact he wanted to escape as quickly as possible.
He then realised that he would be abandoning Lucy if he did this plan and leaving her behind was not an option for him. “We have a plan, but it’s a crazy one” he directed his voice over to Lucy “I’m going to jump, would you be able to handle finding your own way out?”

Lucy was terrified. A bullet ricocheted past her and she flinched back. Her eyes glanced down on a situation that was rapidly getting out of hand. The woman who'd done the stabbing was shot in the leg and went down. The wind outside was picking up and the floor was wet with something other than blood. A groaning sound from the seaside door had her reaching for Miller's arm.
"Don't jump!"
A second later, the Hurricane broke in. Saltwater crashed through the doors, knocking crates over and knocking most of the people on the ground off their feet. Debris covered the lantern, giving Miller and Lucy the cover of darkness for the time being. "The g-ground's not safe. I-I don't know wh-where I'm going to g-g-go or how I'll get out," she whispered, her eyes wide. Seeing Miller was about as much as she could see. Again, she rued her ability (which was absolutely useless in situations like this one) and cursed her lack of physical power.
Another bullet hit the platform on which they were standing. It glanced off a railing and hit her in the shoulder. Unbidden, she cried out and fell against the rail.
Pain blossomed as something in her snapped. It was like welcoming an old comrade as the more confident side of her personality emerged to take stock of the situation. There were a couple windows, but they were boarded up and that didn't solve their emerging storm problem. Of course, staying in the building was out of the question as long as the people down there were still shooting.
"I'll need your help," she admitted through her teeth. "I noticed some windows when the light was on. Could you take care of the board over them? Maybe the next warehouse is close enough to jump."

Miller was glad that Lucy stopped him from jumping off the platform, after he saw what could have happened to him if he did. The bullets that were fired at them did not frighten him what so ever, they startled him a bit though. Once the building was filled with darkness he smirked “ah darkness, we have the advantage once again” he whispered to himself.
Miller did not notice Lucy had been hit b a bullet until he heard her cry of pain, but didn’t ask if she was alright since it was self explanatory. He wasn’t sure what to do next until Lucy instructed him on what to do “I’ll see what I can do” he answered as he looked down at his arm blade. He then turned over to the window and dashed toward it.
He stopped upon arriving at the window and he immediately knew what he would do when he saw the board. He lifted his left arm and slashed at it in a single motion, then broke the rest of the window with a bash of his blade. He poked his head out the window to see how close the second warehouse was, it seemed like jumping over to it could be possible, but that would take quite the jump.
Unfortunately below Miller was one of the henchmen who was told to guard one of the exits, but when the storm came up he became a bit side tract. He heard the sound of breaking glass, he could barely see, so his first reaction was to shoot upwards at the origin of the sound. Most of the bullets did not hit Miller considering the man shot blindly upwards, one skid against his right arm while he was looking out the window. He pulled his head out of the window quickly and hissed in pain. Blood faintly crawled down his arm, he wanted to grab the injured arm, but his left arm had no hand to do so.
He quickly returned to Lucy trying to keep low in case he got hit again. Once he reached her he reported his findings “the boards are broken and so is the window, the next warehouse is quite far away, but still could be able to reach” he grasped for breath afterwards.

Lucy had enough common sense to stay low and keep still while Miller left her field of vision. She could hear him break the boards and the window, and the subsequent addition of even more wind and rain entering the building.
She worried that the boy would get shot while doing something she'd asked him to do; she sighed with relief when he returned to report the status what was probably their only route of escape. A leap, no matter how large the gap, would be the preferred course of action over letting themselves get caught by the Hispanic lady and her weird goons.
A bloodcurdling scream rang out from below, but Lucy didn't let herself think about what could possibly be happening. Concern for Miller almost pushed aside her focus, but she figured that if they stuck around to assess personal damages, they would be asking for more trouble.
"Thanks, Miller. C'mon. Let's get out of here before we're next," she urged before creeping blindly along the platform until she reached the window. As things currently stood, it was a little lighter outside the warehouse... light enough to give her a pretty good look at the distance they'd have to cross. On the bright side, the flooding would at least mean that a fall probably wouldn't kill them immediately. Of course, being washed out to sea wasn't on her list of things to do either.
A bullet whizzed past her head, but the gunfire seemed to be less panicked and not as frequent. Suddenly, the vibrations of the platform beneath her bare feet alerted her to what was happening. "Miller, jump!" she shouted. "They're climbing onto the scaffolding!" Her heart was beating so fast, too fast. Hopefully, shock was not in her future- she needed to bandage the wound in her shoulder. It was bleeding pretty profusely by this point.
Lucy wanted Miller to get out first- if something happened to one of them, the other needed to go get help. Given her current status as the odd-person-out when it came to useful powers, she was sure that Miller had a better chance of escape. "If I don't make it, you need to find my cousin and let him know. His name is Sam."

Miller heard the scream, even though he could see what happened he’d preferred not to and decided not to look downwards. He walked alongside Lucy and the same speed as her to make sure she would make to the window. His right arm caused him pain, but the best he could do was look at it and endure the pain. He stood next to Lucy and faced the opposite direction to watch for any of the other people.
Her sudden shout startled him a bit, but he immediately turned to the window afterwards. His intention was for Lucy to go first, that’s why he waited to go, but there was no time to question it. He looked back out the window as he readied himself to jump, but before he could go he had to respond to her request “I’ll make sure of it” then he nodded his head.
He finally jumped, but while he was still in the air he realised that he might not have given himself enough force to reach the other building. He came about a couple inches away from the wall of the next building, so he forced his blade into the building’s wall to stop himself from falling. After the impact of his sword, he slide down the wall a bit leaving a large cut in the side of the building.
He was unsure of where he would go from here, he couldn’t climb the wall because as soon as he takes his blade out the wall he would drop to the ground and the ground didn’t look like a very safe place to be at the moment. He just hanged there at the half way down the building.

There wasn't a whole lot of time to think. Miller had misjudged his own jump and there wasn't anything she could do about it on this side of the gap. The men had nearly reached her location when she backed up as far as she could go, gathered as much momentum as she possibly could, and jumped.
The Forces that Be smiled upon her because she slammed into the boards covering the opposite window and smashed right through them. It hurt, but it saved her some time. She pulled off her robe and tossed one end of it over the sill, shouting down to Miller, "Grab hold of it!" This wasn't going to be easy. She was a particularly slight girl and Miller was taller and more muscular. That weight could easily throw her off-balance and send them both into the quickly-flooding alley below.
Perhaps later she would reflect on how bossy she sounded at this point. Or maybe not. Given the severity of the gunshot wound (by far one of the most painful physical experiences of her life,) she might be able to forgive herself the brusqueness of her manner towards Miller.
She hoped Miller was able to grab hold- she'd noticed blood on his non-bladed arm just before she'd crossed the gap herself. With each second, the likelihood of their strange new enemies opening fire on them grew.

Miller didn’t notice that Lucy had jumped, he was too busy trying to figure a way out of this mess. He still regretted underestimating the distance of the gap between the buildings. He placed his only hand on top of his blade and attempted to push himself upward, this did not work and questioned himself on how he thought it would work.
He looked up after Lucy yelled at him and saw her robe dangling above him. This tactic of trying to pull him up was questionable to him as he was much larger than she was and added to that a robe no matter what it’s made of isn’t that strong of a material. Then again an attempt is better than nothing, so Miller decided to grab onto the robe.
He thought of a way to make this much easier on Lucy which was to just climb up himself “just hold on tight I’ll climb up myself” he shouted back at her. He got a tight grip onto the robe and pulled himself upward a bit. Then he dug his blade out of the wall, swung it up over his head and imbedded it in the wall again. Then pulled himself up a bit more and repeated the process until he reached the window sill. At this point in time he wished he would have worked more on his right arm as it was much weaker than his other one and a bonus its injured.
He climbed into the window of the building and was relieved that he finally made it, but he also presumed that this encounter was over prematurely which left his guard down. He laid there on the window sill trying to catch his breath.

It was a good thing Miller was able to climb up because it was all she could do to dig in her heels and keep a hold of the robe. A couple more bullets glanced into the window, but she was lucky enough not to be hit by another bullet. Her shoulder throbbed and every pull on the robe only made the pain worse.
She gave only a couple steps before readjusting her grip and her stance. While Miller climbed, she took a moment to take in her surroundings. Red emergency lights marked two exits on the ground floor, which was covered in water and metal storage units. Overall, it seemed a little newer than the building they'd jumped from.
But what should their next course of action be? They couldn't keep going without doing something about their respective wounds and they couldn't sit around waiting for their pursuers to catch up to them. Were the streets safe enough to run through? And where could they go? Paranoia had always been a factor in her life, but never to this extent.
Would a teacher believe them when they finally got to relate the story? Even more important: would they survive long enough to tell anybody?
When Miller climbed through the window and laid on the window sill, her mind was made up. "We can rest when we've found a hiding place." She touched his injured shoulder, trying to gauge how much blood the boy had lost. "We can't stay here, Miller." She lowered her voice and told him, "I think we might be able to hide in one of the storage units. Can you walk?"
All color had left her face and she was running on sheer willpower at this point. She looked around, trying to locate a phone despite the darkness. If they had to stay in one location, she would feel more comfortable if there were people coming out to investigate the situation. She didn't really trust authority, but the enemy probably wouldn't like the attention.

Miller didn’t need Lucy to tell him to get up, after that bullet passed by he lost balance and fell onto the scaffolding. He picked himself up and got back onto his feet, he felt a little dizzy which was probably because of how much blood he’s lost. By now he just wished this night would end “huh, yes I can walk” he replied while he tried to focus again.
He remembered the bullet that passed by a couple seconds ago and didn’t want another to pass by any time soon, so he blocked as much of the broken window as he could with his blade arm. “Do you think we’ll truly be safe in here? Those maniacs are in the next building over” he asked.
He looked around the inside of the building and the exit doors immediately caught his attention. It was defiantly a sight that he was glad to see, but the only problem was the ground of the building was completely flooded, his escape would have to wait.
He felt so weak to the point he could fall over any time soon. His eyes closed for a couple seconds with his head lowering at the same time, but he shook his head to regain consciousness again.

She pulled the robe back over her narrow shoulders, but it was soaked and stretched beyond recognition. Almost useless by this point, but she didn't want to discard it just in case it proved itself useful again.
Lucy shook her head at his doubts, trying quiet her own. "Safer than on the streets until the storm's passed over," she said, ignoring all sorts of internal qualms about personal space to slip under his wounded arm and wrap an arm around his waist. She might be on the verge of her own collapse, but maybe their combined strength could at least get them to a storage unit. "The floor's covered in water, but that's good. We're bleeding... the water will make sure we don't leave a trail."
She nodded at the end of the scaffolding, where a set of stairs awaited their descent. "C'mon, Miller. We've done the hardest p-part already. D-Don't fall asleep... You m-might g-g-go into shock." She was beginning to feel a bit worn thin, unraveled at the edges. It was a strange feeling, but she'd felt it before. Now that she had a plan, she was ready to put her body on auto-pilot so she could assess how much longer she could stay awake and what their options would be if they were found by the bad guys.

Miller tried as much as he could to keep himself from shutting his eyes to avoid passing out. He removed his blade from in front of the window, he did not check the other warehouse for their pursuers he wasn’t paying too much attention to it.
“Okay then let’s get moving” he said very drowsily and joined Lucy by getting a grip onto her shoulder farthest from him. He folded his blade arm behind his back readying himself in case the goons tried to shoot at them again. He tried to get a good look at the stairs that she nodded at, but his vision has gotten much too blurry due to how tired he was.
The pain in his arm was at the point that he was able to ignore it, but it gave him a couple minor jolts of pain now and again. He moved forward toward the blurry stairs as he expected that Lucy would follow beside him. As he looked off the side of the scaffolding he thought that it would much faster to just jump off of it instead of the stairs, but doing that required much more work. “So which one of these do you think we’ll be able to hide in?” he asked directing his towards the storage units.
