Cade was more surprised by Serenity’s sexual innuendoes than he actually should be. While she had made it apparent that she hated his sexual advances on her, she had her fair share of moments that suggested her lust as well. Even when the thought of them being romantically involved with one another wasn’t even an afterthought. The moment when she stated that rolling around in the mud with him wouldn’t be boring was what stood out in his mind the most. Perhaps he wasn’t the one in need of a purity ring to restrict his urges. “Well now, I suppose that means I’ll be returning that abstinence after all. Say what you want, but I could probably rattle your bones better than anyone.” At this point she was basically asking him to go all the way with her. The only bigger hint that she could give him was to tear off her clothes.
Though when his next comment reached her, it was quick to diffuse the situation before he actually learned the truth behind her words. Serenity added distant between them at this point and instantly Cade felt like he’d done something wrong. Should he really go that far? ‘In the moment Cade’ was probably going to really hate him if he screwed this one up and ‘future Cade’ was waiting just around the corner to curb stomp him if he decided to go along with whatever Serenity was doing. Above all else there was probably something that was making her do this, what it was he couldn’t possibly know without more evidence. Given how well crowbarring himself into Jenna’s life problems went, doing the same with Serenity would only make things worse. Though ignoring it and being some sort of outlet for the woman wasn’t a healthy answer either, abusive was more like it. Given his history of abusive substances, he didn’t want to add Serenity onto that long list.
Although, he could be reading into this way too deeply and there was nothing wrong with Serenity at all. Her question back could be one made through absolute confusion as to why he wasn’t just accepting the embrace he had been so eager to receive. Sometimes Cade wished he was as dumb as a doorknob and just allowed these things to fly without any thought. He sighed. “Ah, slip of the tongue” he answered as he bound his arms around her back and pulled her back so that she was close to him once more. “You should already know that you have this lone wolf to back you up” he whispered to her as he leaned his neck over her shoulder.

Serenity's lips turned to a slow smile as Cade retorted that he could easily be the best she's ever had, was there really any point in trying to deny him the opportunity? Several things started to factor into her mind then as Cade took back the original words that he had said, closing the distance between them once more. She was almost in her late thirties and Serenity highly suspected Cade was about half her age just from the way that he was. This was usually the point in time that either most women were already settled down having a family, or considering having a family. Did she really have time to toy around with this one man? Even as she thought these things though, the woman leaned her head slightly away from Cade as if expecting some kisses along her neck. "I know you're here," Serenity replied easily then - turning her face away from him then as the earlier incident drifted into her mind once more.
If Kane was here on the island, the only possible reason for him being here in the first place was because of her. No doubt one of her family members might have told him where she was, at least the ones that were more forgiving than her and her father. Could he be waiting at her house right now? Could he have had found her house by now? There were plenty of people in the village that knew who she was and where she lived, it would be easy enough for him to just ask around and find her. Why didn't she ever consider protecting herself before? There was no way in hell she could go home now. She'd have to just make shift a bed and live in her classroom for awhile, but clothes though... where would she get a change of clothes? Could she even go to the village at this point?
The whole time that Serenity was thinking about this, her fingers tightened on Cade and it was obvious that the woman wasn't in the moment anymore. Cade probably could have knocked his hand against her head and it would have taken the woman at least five minutes to fully react. Being so lost in her thoughts, the woman's eyes which were usually always open appeared to be half lidded. On one hand it did show some level of trust with Cade that she was able to become so distracted in his presence, on the other hand it could be easily seen negative that she wasn't paying attention to whatever he was doing now.

There was no question that something else entirely was going on within Serenity’s mind. While she was never a person of many words her lack of them made her seem somewhat absent minded. The way she acted also implied this. She was too quiet. Even as he nuzzled against her neck with his bristly beard in hopes to stir some sort of reaction there was nothing. No annoyance, no coo (to be fair a coo from Serenity would be fairly unexpected), nothing. His hyperactive mind tried to piece it together and figure out what was going on within her own, but again there was very little to work with. Was his ultimate plan leaving her speechless and she was thinking of the implications behind everything he had done for her? Highly unlikely, but he could wish.
He pulled his head away and investigated her glossy half-moons. What did it mean when a blind person’s eyes expressed themselves like that? Was she sleepy? Given the time of night that wasn’t out of the question completely. Though her falling asleep in his lap might not be the best boost to his ego. “You might know I’m here, but I don’t think I know if you’re fully here.” He wanted to avoid prying into the woman’s life as much as possible to avoid previous mishaps that that had led to, but the woman was never going to actually openly share anything with him if he didn’t dig a little. In fact, if they weren’t teachers he might not even know what her last name was.
While yes he had taken advantage of women during their weak points in the past and in some ways he still wasn’t quite above that. With Serenity though he actually felt like he’d be doing something wrong. It either had to do with respect or the knowledge that she could toss him out a window with nothing more than a simple flick of her wrist. “There’s something else going on in that mind of yours isn’t there?” he inquired as he patted his forehead against hers. “You’re a tough woman, Hikaru. Just let it out.”

It was when Cade noted that Serenity wasn't all the way there that the woman briefly came out of her own thoughts, realizing that the other teacher had backed up a little bit. "I'm here," she said to him in a weak attempt to avoid saying anything about her own problems. It was a strange contradiction because on one hand she did feel like she wanted to rely on him in some sense, but on the other hand she just wanted to handle her own problems in her own time like she always did.
As their foreheads connected once more though, Serenity let out a light sigh and moved to get off of Cade's lap, standing now instead to the side of the desk that they had been in front of. "I'm sure you'd be acting just to the same way if someone from your past showed up randomly." Serenity commented then with a surprisingly quiet tone, almost as if she didn't want him to hear what she was saying. What good would really come out of this? How could he possibly help her anyways? Well, it wasn't like he was a horrible fighter. He just wasn't great one either. "How am I supposed to tell you anything?" Serenity finally let the question out of her mind - making her seem as she were going back to her typical mean ways.

Her way of stating that she was present did not inspire confidence, it was almost like she felt reluctant to say it after throwing her thoughts away and hiding them within a safe confine within her mind. She eased herself off of his body afterward, choosing to stand over taking back her original seat. Whatever she had brewing in her mind probably wasn’t anything good if she was so repellent to even be near him when he became curious of it.
Serenity spoke quietly as she moved away from him, but since she was the center of his attention at the moment it wasn’t difficult to pick up on what she was saying. Even if some of her words were too silent to pick up upon he could fill in the blanks easily. A person from her past? Given that she said she used to be an assassin that could mean any number of things from a bad client to a failed target. While yes her statement was correct, he wouldn’t be so at ease if his pseudo father had shown up on the island unexpectedly and he’d probably prefer to deal with such a circumstance on his own, but he’d at least let someone know what was going on, especially Serenity. Wait, someone from her past, someone he’d know of. The guy she said that blinded her? That was the only person that she had ever mentioned from her past besides her father.
Cade wasn’t going to wrench his way into this situation. That never worked. He stood up well after she had, in fact around the time that she let out another question. “Well, you have to say something before you can tell me. I know you’d prefer to do things on your own and I know that you probably think I’d be useless for whatever it is that’s bothering you, but the worst I can do for you is support you” he spoke easily as he reached for her hand.

It was difficult for her to really open up to Cade and as the other teacher offered his shoulder for her to lean on (not necessarily in a literal manner), Serenity felt her shoulders slump forward just a bit. "It's been awhile since I've had this much support from someone," Serenity finally admitted weakly to the man while moving forward to place her hand softly where his heart would be. "I... I can't really talk about it yet." Serenity finally managed then as she placed her forehead then where her hand had originally been.
Even though they had only just been kissing a few moments ago, Serenity had found those seconds of separation awkward and unusual. It seemed as though nowadays she was getting more comfortable with the idea of Cade being around her much more often. "I might even be wrong," Serenity mumbled into Cade's shirt then, seeming to talk to herself more so than anyone else. It wasn't like her to be so doubtful of her suspicions, as well leave herself out there and so vulnerable. "I could have just been imagining things." Once again, it seemed as though the woman was talking to herself and having a difficult time feeling anything besides confusion and sadness.

As Serenity mentioned that her life had lacked so much support, Cade couldn’t help but to reflect on this himself. He couldn’t even remember the last time someone had supported him before Serenity. While Jenna was his past lover, she still hadn’t really done anything to support him, in fact if anything she had only added to his list of problems than decreasing it. He didn’t really count her involvement in finding his original parents as being all that supportive since all she had done was inspire him and incidentally at that. “You’ve been hanging around with the wrong people then” he replied softly as he placed his hand on the back of her head as she nuzzled against his breast.
While Cade was still not fully aware of whatever it was that Serenity was speaking about it seemed to be so drastic that she thought that the conclusion of her imagination was a rational way of looking at it. Perhaps it was the person that blinded her, who else could spook Serenity to such a degree? Although, Cade didn’t know too much about her life and old job so it wasn’t like he could say that he was one hundred percent sure of this conclusion, but he was at about seventy percent, which was fairly good considering his indecisive nature.
Cade spread his gentle fingers through the woman’s hair with the careful ease of a professional massage therapist. “Whatever it is Serenity, I trust that you have the right sensibilities to handle it. I mean, how hard could it be? You can toss me around like a minor paperweight, if worst comes to worst you could flatten’em into the pavement and if he’s imaginary that’ll make it all the more easy” he jested with a smirk pulling up his left cheek. “C’mon Serenity, you took on three street thugs and the worst you got out of it was torn jeans.”

Listening to Cade, Serenity let out a light sigh as he tried to reassure her that he could be there for her. Backing up from him just as quickly as she had gone to lean on him, Serenity shook her head "I think I just need to be alone right now." The woman said to Cade, in some sort of desperate attempt to get her mind in the right again. "Actually, I'll just leave," she then said after a second's hesitation despite the fact they were standing in her classroom.
Turning her back to Cade, Serenity then made her way toward the door. "Also, don't be surprised if you get in trouble for that little stunt you were trying to pull earlier." Serenity mentioned to the other teacher as she finally left the classroom.
