When I arrive, I bring the fire.

Another streak of lightning flashed through the sky and Cade watched idly as it created a crack through the sky. He even counted in an attempt to figure out how many miles away the bolt was. He didn’t remember if that myth was true or not, but the result he was given didn’t seem like it’d be too far off. His view adjusted back to the woman as she began to discuss various things and for a second she could almost be deemed for a human being as she spoke very naturally and as well off of what was at the top of her mind. Better yet, she was discussing a topic of personal matter without Cade’s consent. Progress was made at last, but unfortunately Serenity noticed this as well.
He noted the contortion of her face, she was still hesitant to being social with him for some odd reason. Still that tough shell to crack. “Frankly I was about to ask you the same thing. I know how a person’s body evolves after losing a sense, in fact I used to know this one deaf guy who was a damn near perfect shot, I swear he didn’t even need a scope to snipe someone from ten miles away, but I digress” he sort of began to ramble though quickly picked up on it before he went too far with the story. A cheery story about a deaf sniper who’d met his end by a blind demolition expert was probably not what she was in the mood for.
“Hrm, I wouldn’t say bothering, it’s more of a service if you think about it. Is it known as bothering when a boy scout helps an old lady cross the street? No, it’s a kind hearted service. I doing much of the same for you. I think I may have asked this question before, but how many people do you speak with on a daily basis outside of your students? I don’t talk to that many people. The human being is a social animal, you remove the social aspect and all you have left is an animal. No matter how dense your core is you’ll always crave attention regardless of how little you want, we’re just designed that way.”

Finally moving to stand up, Serenity found herself moving carefully as Cade spoke. The rain around them continued on and Serenity brought a hand up to her face to move bits of hair back. As she did so, the outline of her face was made more prominent - as well a small scar near the corner of her right eye that would have otherwise been unnoticeable if she hadn't moved her hair. "Has anyone ever told you that you talk too much?" Serenity finally asked the man, staying surprisingly still in her spot - her expression making it seem as if she were trying to make a decision about something.

Cade picked up quickly on the woman’s movements as Serenity began to pick herself off the ground. Cade was not necessarily the type to hastily hop to someone else’s aid when he wasn’t entirely needed, but he rose to his feet quickly afterwards as well. He was cautious about the woman’s space at first, but he moved in a bit closer as she seemed to be not doing anything just yet. “Actually, I’m pretty sure you’ve said that before. More than once maybe. Are we in a rut already or do I actually talk so much that it should be addressed so many times over again? Hm, might be me” he questioned, though answered himself at the same time. The irony of his statement was staggering.
The math teacher quickly scooped his co-worker since she didn’t seem like she was moving anywhere anytime soon, plus standing out in the rain wasn’t going to do either of them any favours. With his arm hooked around Serenity, he began to force both her and himself toward the entrance he came in and luckily his bag was hidden within the tunnel of the exit so the contents within weren’t getting soaked. Speaking of which, he should probably get down to the purpose of bringing the luggage down with him. During their short walk to the tunnel, his head turned to hers, though his vision of her was slightly obstructed by the constant water flowing down his face. A new scar was noticeable as of now, but he didn’t entirely question it since she had a history of shooting down most personal subjects. Perhaps if he phrased his inquiry in a backwards manner like he did before she explained her mode of vision. “By the way, what’s your pants size?” he eventually asked of her. The question wasn’t quite as random as one might think.

Serenity didn't bother to respond when Cade answered his own question just as quickly as he asked it. She was unaware that he had moved to her until she could feel his arm around her, instead of bothering to fight it (like she usually would have) the woman let out a small sigh and let Cade guide her to the point that they were standing under the entrance of the battle arena. She recognized this mostly because it wasn't raining on them anymore and the closest area that had a roof was the entrance. "I believe that's an inappropriate question to ask a woman." Serenity replied quickly and sharply, raising her eyebrow in the direction of his voice.
Even though she had barely any concept of where everything is, it easier to identify Cade's location when he spoke. That much she was thankful for, on the other hand the woman briefly wondered to herself how long the rain would last and whether or not she should try walking into the school and to her classroom for some spare clothes she had left in there. "What's it to you anyway?" Serenity then asked the man, her lips easily down turned.

Cade set her still like he was handling a very delicate house of cards. The water was going to rush into the entry way at some point, but for the time being they were relatively safe from the wet though at this point they were already soaked so it wasn’t like it mattered all that much. “Rude of me, my bad” he replied as he scurried over to his bag and began to dig through it, the scrunching of its fabric was quite audible. “You didn’t exactly win our little brawl, but you did help me out a couple days ago, so regardless of my feelings about it you did lose a nice pair of pants out of it” he continued to relay to her as he dug a couple pairs of jeans, all being different sizes, though a small selection of the sizes he assumed Serenity might be.
There was some kind of oddity in a full grown man asking to try out women’s jeans, especially for a man that never wore them. Luckily he had a couple pitchers of water on him otherwise he’d had to have actually paid for the four pair of jeans he brought. That and the man behind the counter was easy to charm and distract while Cade slipped the jeans by without him noticing. A very successful shopping trip to say the least.
“Since you’re not willing to share, I suppose you’ll just have to sort through these to find which one fits yourself. What you do with the rest doesn’t really matter to me, they were an easy buy” the teacher spoke with a sly tongue as he handed his co-worker the stacks of clothes. In hind sight, it would’ve been easier to clone the money instead of the pants, but it was a worse crime to counterfeit than to shoplift so if he was to be caught for either he’d prefer the latter. Even then it wasn’t technically shoplifting, but he’d rather there not be an exception made for his class of power.

Looking confused as Cade handed her several different pairs of pants, she took them from him - hesitant on accepting any sort of gifts from the man. Surprisingly enough, Serenity made quick work of finding the pair that would fit her simply by trying one on. She had a lucky first guess and the jeans slid on easily over her tight fitting shorts. "Normally, I don't accept gifts. For you though, I'll make an acception." The woman was to stubborn otherwise to say thank you, assuming that Cade would be satisfied with her initial response.
Thinking for a moment then, Serenity reached out toward Cade - taking a hold of the man's arm with her face upturned toward his. A few seconds passed as the woman allowed both of her hands to glide up and down his arms in a careful and precise manner. As she finally reached his fingertips, understanding was suddenly etched across her face. "Tell me, what color is your hair?" she asked him then.

Cade actually didn’t consider the thought that Serenity might not even accept his gift under ordinary circumstances. He supposed that he should have known the option since she was so strongly an independent. Most of his wonderings were now stuck on how anti-climactic the entire situation would have ended if she simply said no. So much would have been sacrificed for nothing, but luckily that wasn’t the outcome. “Oh, don’t you worry about that. I won’t tell a soul that rough mcgruff allowed herself to receive a present” he joked back at her.
While Cade thought the manner in which Serenity was rubbing his arms was strange, he wasn’t necessarily opposed to it at first. Figuring that it might entail a bit more than good intentions, he teased his hands away as she reached his fingertips. He didn’t quite feel that compassionate about his co-worker, or at least he didn’t want to. Past experiences have shown his inability to contain a stable relationship, but on the other hand moving on from that was exactly what Cade wanted, so again he was met with a slight dilemma brought upon his own complicated way of thinking. Such physical interaction didn’t mean nothing, she may have been blind, but that didn’t mean anything. Touching was the equivalent of checking somebody out for those without eyes, except it was insanely more difficult to do it subtly.
“Why? So you can run around looking like me? Although I can just say blonde and you’d still not know the specifics to it anyway, so that narrows it down for you” he rebutted gently. “Actually, let’s test your luck. What do you think; bleach, dirty, or golden blond?”

Serenity let go of Cade's arm as soon as he started talking about her running around looking like him. In one way, Serenity considered it a game figuring out all the details of a person's appearance - it should have been expected that someone else would think that she simply wanted to look like other people. "Do I really seem like that type of person?" she asked Cade then with a quirked brow. As he asked her about what color his hair is, Serenity frowned for a moment to herself. There was really no clear way to figure out colors, even if there was a difference in texture when it came to colors it wasn't like Serenity had figured that out yet. Shaking her head, the woman took a step back from Cade and looked thoughtful for a few minutes.
"Dirty blonde?" she asked Cade then at random, as the rain outside continued on. If she asked him, she figured that Cade would have no problem with leading her back to the school. It wasn't like she wanted too, despite the occasional discomfort of being in his company - Serenity could stand being uncomfortable more than she could stand injuring her pride.

Cade spied the woman with an inquisitive look on his brow. Did she really seem like the type who found joy in being another person’s doppelganger? Well, with her powers anything was possible. Would Cade be the kind of person who’d counterfeit if he didn’t have his powers? Probably not. That was a debate for another time, whether a person’s gift influenced their personality though, there was probably some truth behind it. “Hey, I don’t know what you do on your free time. That’s your own business. I’m just saying, I’d much prefer that not so many shape shifters knew my face too well. I have a hard enough time trying to pick up women, but when I have to start competing against myself that’s when it gets really tough” he joked as he slicked what little hair he did have back.
“Ooh, other end of the spectrum there Ma’am. The only thing that’s brighter than my hair is the sun and that’s giving the sun too much credit” he continued to jest as he retrieved his bag once more. “Well, unless you’re interested in dancing around in the mud some more, we should probably get inside before it really starts raining hard.” Cade had no doubts that the current weather was not the extent of what Mother Nature had in store. Last time he undermined the weather he found himself trapped in a restaurant with snow packing every orifice of the place. This time around though, he didn’t have a wind elemental to push aside whatever was in the way. He tapped Serenity on the shoulder to signify to her to start moving.
